Dami is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Bloomington. After I have eaten almost all the dishes on Sobon's menu, I still prefer Dami. I think Dami is a very cute and warm restaurant, every weekend my friends and I will come here to start our weekend time from the delicate Korean food.
Dami is easy to find on the map or if you walking on the 4th St. which is full filled with lots of exotic restaurants, you'll not miss it. You can also take 9 bus to get off on Sample Gate and walk here. If you want drive, you have to spend time to parking. I think is better to take bus or walk after getting off the class. It only takes 5 to 7 minutes to get there. There is board that is written "Dami" in the front of it and near the door it hangs a small blackboard, I always like writing something on it. I ordered the Tofu Kimchi Dolsot as the Friday's award, it costs $10.95 and doesn't matter the lunch or dinner. Dolsot should be the most typical and famous kitchen entrée in Korean food. The tofu Kimichi Dolsot is dolsot rice with pan-fried pork, tofu and kimichi. When the waitress offer it on the table, you can hear the voice of fried rice and saw some sea sedge, tofu and all bunches of vegetable on the top of it. You should use the spoon to stir the rice with these vegetables and be careful with the hot dolsolt. I think dolsot is a good choice if you are very hunger. Every time, I feel so full when I eat up all of it.
Speaking of the price in Dami, I think the lunch is ok and it should be a little bit expensive for dinner. But the price is relative reasonable than sobon on 10th St. Probably , you pay a little bit more than sobon, you can have five or six different appetizers. For example, the fish cake, kimchi, sea weed, spicy turnip and so on. They are refresh for all the appetizers. If you go over the menu, you will find some pictures on it and the dishes always looks similar to these pictures.
The service in Dami is also good, most waitress and waiters here are Korean. They are always polite and talking genetly. If you are the first time come here, you can feel free to ask them to help you figure out what you want to eat. When you check out, you need to give gratuity to them. the gratuity ranges from 10% to 20%, it is your choice.
The environment in Dami is also comfortable and not noisy like other Asian restaurants. The restaurants are divided in two parts by a wall, there is TV on the wall in the first room, you can also watch some Korean TV show when you eating. Sometimes, you have to wait for the waiters coming at the dinner time. But not wait too long. Because, the space in Dami is spacious, you'll never feel crowded.
Overall, Dami is a very good restaurants in Bloomington. However, some Koreans may think it is not very authentic. Anyway, I like the food here. If you are a vegetarian, it is not a good choice come here.
    The dishes I recommend:
Appetizers: Kimichi pancake(server for four people). Spicy rice cake( server for 2 to 3)
Entrees: Beef dolsot, squid dolsot, tofu kimichi dolsot. Grilled squid pork.
Soup: soft tofu soup. Beef rib soup. (all the soup with white rice)
Stew: Bulrak Jeongol (server for 3 to 4 people, with white rice).

I've eaten here a couple of times, but not as often as I should. They definitely don't publicize their restaurant as much as they should. A few years ago, I realized how much I love Korean food, and Dami restaurant is the real deal. I usually get the same things -- particularly spicy rice cakes, and the ones at Dami are legit. I found that a couple of times it was hard to order (the waiter didn't understand me very well, or were in the other room), but it really didn't bother me. If you're looking for legit Korean food, I think Dami is the best bet.
