We thought we were on one of those restaurant reality shows!
You seat  yourself- no one to great you by any means.
I cut myself on glass that was on the table. Looks like someone broke the glass and it wasn't cleaned up properly. When I looked closer at the table, there was glass everywhere. The waitress moved us to another table. You think a manger would come over to acknowledge the accident? NOTHING!
Decided not to eat there- just to have the drinks we already ordered.
We overheard a waitress asking a new employee if he had his "free birthday shot yet"? He said yes.
Really??? Staff is doing shots during work? Awesome!
The staff is more concerned about socializing with each other than paying attention to the customers.
We paid for our drinks and left.
My wife and I just moved here and needed a place to watch the playoffs. Â We do not like dive bars, so we were surprised when we walked through the doors. Â Clean, not to loud and a lot of TVs. Â A bigger surprise was the outstanding quality of the survice and food! Â Wow, we had the sampler plate and cleaned it up. Â The Chicken strips are great. Â I do not know what they do, but it is outstanding. Â Also, shared the wings and they are huge! Â Jen and I have been back twice since that time and enjoyed Ralphie's every time. Â I am glad I moved to the area and can not wait for warmer weather to enjoy this place even more.
Review Source:I have been to Ralphies probably a half dozen times in the last year with a date or with friends. It is a sports bar so I don't have high expectations for the food but I do for the atmosphere and service. The service is hit and miss and I and I can see where the bad reviews on service come from.
The atmosphere is good and there is a real shortage of sports bars to choose from in the general area. I return here because I can have beers with friends and get a bite to eat in a casual enviroment. I give it 4 stars because I can watch a sporting event on the tube and hangout.
They are not going to make it on Diners,Drive Ins and Dives. No signature dish that I can tell ,the wings are nothing special and overpriced. I had a burger once with a bun that had to be a week old. The service actually makes the food worse because it will be luke warm or cold when it arrives.
That being siad after a few beers I usually end up buying some kind of food item because I get hungry not because it's good.
I will keep this short.
The good- Many tv's to watch sports/ufc events. Good food. Decent happy hour.
The bad- CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! Visited nearly 20 times now and it seems EVERY server has an attitude (which you can feel their vibe) they also do a very poor job on checking up on tables. waited over 30minutes for drink refills while the server was texting on her phone.
Pass this up and go to Henry's Bar and Grill just down Main St. At least there you get great service and value without the "corporate" feel.
I'm now giving them a ONE. their service is still terrible. a bunch of dumb @sses. Also, i split a bill with someone and they ended up charging one of us full price and the other 50%. Thats 50% more than they should have charged us and the manager never responded when called about this. eff this place in the a.
Review Source:Let me start by saying: they could improve and I would try them again.
Bottom line: I like their chile cheese fries. They use green chile for their fries. And they have $2 Bud Light's during happy hour. I just don't like waiting for 20 minutes to get a cardboard carryout container of green chile that was cooked hours ago. Five minutes? Sure. Ten minutes? I'm patient. Almost 20 FULL minutes? Kiss my...well, you get the picture.
The big barrier: They don't seem to hire staff that is focused on customer service. They let you see/feel their attitude. They mostly just seem like they're immature and inexperienced. This applies to carry out or dine in.
Not sure why there are bad food reviews for this place. Â I have eaten at a number of restaurants in Louisville, and this place has some of the freshest food. Â The wings are huge, and the flavors they have are great. Â
Better than the food is the atmosphere. Â The music is great, and being a sports fan, this place is great to watch all the games I love.
this is the closest restaurant to where i work, so to say that it is convenient is an understatement. Â what is also an understatement is the professionalism of the staff at this Louisville location. Â not only was my debit card (and if you're like me and never have cash, you know what i mean when i say my debit card is my lifeline) given to another customer, neither the server nor the manager of the front of the house interested in helping me retrieve it. Â the only response i received from anyone was a simply "sorry... i suggest you cancel your card". Â what a hassle, right? Â i assumed, at that point, that he would offer to (at least) comp my lunch, which, by the say, was $12. Â When he did not offer, i boldly told him that i expected the charged to be reversed for my meal. Â he told me he could not do that. Â this was the MANAGER. Â i have been a manager for many years and this was the worst display of customer service i had ever personally witnessed. Â i took matters into my own hands...i called my bank and put a hold on my card, i Googled the guy that had my card, drove to his farm and knocked on his door, got my card back, called my back and had them reinstate my card and informed them that i was also wrongly charged $37 for the $12 lunch i had that day at good old ralphie's! Â seriously??? Â i then called the owners of buff brother's restaurants and left them a message, asking for a call back. Â today, after not receiving a return phone call, i left them a second message. Â i sure hope someone eventually calls me back and refunds my damn money. Â based on principle alone, i will not be returning to ralphie's, convenient or not.
Review Source:I had high hopes for this place, but it all went out the window with my first taste of wings. We ordered hot ones and my 7yo was eating them without a second thought. They were mild at best. They made a bit deal about the wings and how they're extra big and take longer to cook. Not so - basic wings and basic flavor.
On the positive, they did have some inexpensive beers for happy hour, but low budge one - Coors Light, Bud Light, etc. Anything decent was normal price.
As an entree, I had a chile relleno burrito. Pretty bland. Perhaps I shouldn't have ordered this at a 'burger' place. Oh wait, I didn't. For a fun alternative, I asked the waitress to bring me the best thing on the menu and this is what she brought. Really, she said this is his favor thing on the menu and it's delicious. So wrong.
I have been back once for a taco buffet for my 7yo's football party. My review doesn't change - same blasé food.
I've actually been here quite a few times, mostly for the reason that it's the only bar walkable from where I live. I have had very mixed experiences here, ranging from tons of fun to absolutely horrid.
First, the ambiance. Decent, kind of like the Applebee's of bars or something. Kind of bland, but always seems clean.
The food: Probably the worst thing about the place. The wings are big and meaty and the guac is pretty good, but just about everything else I've had there is mediocre at BEST. Bland club sandwich, overcooked burger, "Mexican" food that's just weird.
The drinks: I will never, ever understand a bar that has a pretty decent selection of beers but not a single IPA. The mixed drinks I've had have been weak. Good iced tea.
The service: Hit and miss. Normally it's friendly and prompt, but I did end up with a waitress on one occasion who abandoned our party twice. Twice we had to ask another waitress to go find her. The manager was helpful during this though, which was nice.
Overall: It's a decent place, not too expensive, good pool tables, and  sometimes the DJ can be fun, but as a restaurant goes, the food and drinks need attention.
This place is a very welcome addition to Louisville! Â
Disclaimer: I've been there maybe 4 times now - every time was for for $1 Mahi Mahi Taco Friday. Â Words can't express how happy I am when I leave this place stuffed with those delicious tacos. Â
Wait staff is great, the manager Dan seems to be a cool dude. Â I e-mailed a question to the owners Rob & Tim and they got back to me right away and were pretty awesome about it.
5 stars for when they get Avery beer on tap or in cans! Â They do have a pretty decent beer selection - could use a little improvement though.
See you guys next Friday...and the one after that...and the one after that...
EDIT 7/12/2011: Â So ya, I'm addicted to this place. Â My co-workers and I come here every Friday (gotta get down on Friday) for the $1 Tacos, cheapish beer and Trivia (Buzztime). Â Still no Avery as promised but other than that, I have no complaints.
