This is the perfect (!) intimate wine store.  Although the wine selection is somewhat small, the choice of wines is wonderful, and the owners are excellent with their knowledge and recommendations without sounding pretentious.

We joined their monthly wine group and were impressed by the wine choices (not your average wines, but honestly good wines with an abundance of flavor and enjoyment).  And the shop is relaxing and casual so you don't feel like you're forced to associate with a lot of stuffy wine drinkers (lol).

You've got to stop by this shop and chat with the owners ... they are wonderful people who make you feel like they truly want to help you find a great wine to enjoy while sitting out on the deck some evening or to serve with a nice dinner.

Came upon this wine shop when strolling downtown LS.  I am not a huge wine guy but do enjoy a nice glass of beer.  The nice lady was very helpful and knowledgable about the small beer selection they had and sold me a four pack of Firestone Walker Double Jack (which was awesome).  Before I left I had their pale ale on tap (don't remember which one).  I wish I had written the beer info down because it was very, very good. She let my wife and I just relax in the store and kick back.

We were also visited by her French bull dog roaming around the store.  It was cute and characteristic of a downtown LS shop.

My wife bought me a years subscription to their monthly wine selection for our anniversary.  We really like this place.  Great owners, great wine selection, and a relaxing atmosphere where they have wine tasting once or twice a week.

    Highly recommended

I love Red Door Wine Store and the fact that it's so close to home!

You can browse their selection for a bottle of wine or you can sit down, relax, and enjoy a glass of wine right there in the store at an adorable table.

They also have a back room that you can reserve for wine tastings/pairings. In my opinion, that would make for a perfect bachelorette party or date!

I'm not very knowledgeable about wine, but every time I bring in a wine connoisseur, they always are very impressed by the selection! During Lee's Summit's Chocolate Crawl in February, you can stop by Red Door and enjoy some treats.

Love this place especially since they're in Lee's Summit!

Sometimes life is sad. For example: I just discovered Red Door Wine Store, but because it's almost a 30 minute drive from my home I doubt I'll be returning any time soon. But that doesn't change the fact that I think this business is 5 Star all the way!

If you read the name and are good with context clues, you have probably surmised that this is a wine shop. That's true, but that's only part of the story. They also sell a small but decidedly well curated selection of beer and spirits. I found beers and scotches that I would have loved to have given a good home. And the cherry on top is that the prices are pretty dang legit.

But the sprinkles on top of the cherry is that not only can you buy your beverages here, but you can also enjoy them! They have a great variety of wines available by the glass for your imbibing pleasure. There are a number of little tucked away spots to enjoy a glass of vino with a friend. The back room also seems to be set up to encourage tastings. In fact, the day I was there they were setting up for a whiskey tasting. Be still my heart.

The even smaller sprinkles on top of the other sprinkles? The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. I saw them interacting with a variety of guests, and it really seems like this place fosters a sense of family. I would totally be a part of their booze family if I lived closer. But instead, I'm going to have to settle for being a distant cousin.

I'd like to add yet another excellent review!  I'm not from Lee's Summit, but my husband and I were in town watching his Little play basketball.  We had some time between games so we took a stroll downtown.  I'm a wine lover and he's a craft beer lover.  This store had something for the both of us.  We loved the decor and would model our own store after it if we had one.  The best part was being able to sip a glass of wine while browsing the store.  We also really enjoyed chatting with the owner.  It really made it a personal and fun experience.  I only wish we lived closer so that we could enjoy more tastings.  We'll definitely be back on our way through next time!

    Bravo!

Hadn't been to the Red Door because I heard it was a wine shop.  I'm not so much a wine guy as I am a beer guy so my friend suggested we check out the Wednesday beer tasting.  (They served the 2 oz tasters in an actual glass which is a nice touch).

The place was very inviting so after our sampling my wife and I purchased and enjoyed a couple of nice brews on their couch.  The atmosphere was great, the gal who was working was very friendly and they had beers I haven't tried before (no easy feat).  We really enjoyed ourselves.

The only downside was prices aren't marked on most of the beer singles for sale.  I'm sure if you ask they'll tell you, but asking a price and then moving on and asking another price and moving on to ask another price just seems like you're a cheapskate.  My only recommendation for improvement would be to have singles prices either on the shelf or on the bottle.

With that being said, I ordered a specialty beer that is usually $6-$7 per 12 oz bottle at Gomers, so I wasn't expecting an $8 total tab but I was a little taken aback by the $12 price tag on my selection.  Thankfully the sticker shock was numbed by my 16% ABV brew.  ;)

    We'll be back.

One of the best stores to grace downtown Lee's Summit.

With weekly beer and wine tastings (wednesday and thursday, respectively), super friendly owners who are quick to share their passion for spirits, and a great selection you can't really go wrong. The store is airy and clean with a large selection of wines, and a smaller assortment of craft beers by the door. They do special orders, as well as events to introduce people to new wines. Worth checking out.

We stopped in to Red Door as a start to my birthday weekend in the KC area.  This was a quaint stop with a good wine selection.  It was nice to be in a wine shop that had knowledgeable staff--the owner, in this case--but it could've used more variety on the by-the-glass menu.  The bottle prices were reasonable, and the corking fee even more so, but it needed a slightly warmer feel.  I would suggest maybe adding cozy lighting or comfy furniture pieces.  A faux fireplace would even be a great addition (with a warming element).  To boot, the addition of a cheese plate or charcuterie platter would be a major plus and boost the star factor.  All in all, Red Door is a cute spot and a nice place to sneak in to for a midday break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. I cannot short-change this place too much, though.  An afternoon visit is more than likely the reason for the number of stars, where the evening may cast a different light and add a star or two.  They definitely deserve a return visit for a second chance and opinion.  I'm sure the night makes for a completely different experience.  Jazz sessions or live music nights?  That would really boost the ratings. Based on the other reviews, I'm sure they're worthy of it.

Love the Red Door!  Katelyn and Tony are the nicest young couple and you can tell they really enjoy what they do at their store.  Great selection with a variety of price points.  Fun events at the store throughout the week - we just did a bubbly tasting this past Saturday!  Definitely a low key place - not snooty at all.

I asked Katelyn to put together a case for us of 'everyday' wines around $10-$12 each.  She gave us a lovely selection...and we snuck in a few nicer bottles of Zin, too.  The give a 10% case or 5% half case discount.

Support local business and buy your wine from The Red Door!

Love this place!  So excited when they opened.   I just enjoy ordering a glass (or 2) of wine and sitting and chatting with my friends.  Very relaxing environment and love that the owners know their wine!
Even enjoyed playing tug-a-war with their dog the other day!

This is a "great" wine store!  The selection of wines is one of the best I have found.  The owner's have done some major research and it has paid off.  I drive all the way from Olathe to get my wine from this store.  Prices are right in line with what you find in the chain liquor stores, very affordable.  It has a very comfortable, friendly atmosphere and have wine tastings and beer tastings during the week.  If you love wine, check out this store, you won't be disappointed.

This place is awesome!!!  Nothing in this place is overpriced, infact I think they could charge more just for the environment. The couple that runs the place is absolutely wonderful, they know their stuff and wont at all look down on someone trying to gain knowledge about the wine and spirit world. These people definantly love what they do, and are very knowledgeable. You will not regret giving this place a try.

This is what a local shop should be...the couple that runs this place are friendly, welcoming, and enthusiastic about their product, the store is bright, cheerful, comfortable, and well-organized, and their wine selection has something for everybody at an incredibly wide range of price points. They carry wines from all over the world as well as from local vintners. Wine shops can be pretentious, this one is not.  They do fun Thursday night tastings, and have room to sit and enjoy wine by the glass, as well.

I feel some what inadequate to review this place because I don't have an extensive knowledge of wine.

I stopped in with a friend during their grand opening. The shop is run by a husband and wife team who are extremely knowledge and friendly. They have a decent selection size. They said they are not trying to be a boutique and their prices are competitive with Costco and other shops.

We ended up each doing a glass of wine. They had 3 red and 3 white options. They also had beer by the bottle. We sat and enjoyed our wine, listened to the music and chatted. It was a wonderful and relaxing way to start our evening.
