The reviews are all true and the pancakes are HUGE. $9 for a meal that will feed me for a few days? Yes, please!

I'd never been here before, but after I saw the pictures on Yelp, I had to get the pancake sandwich. The pancakes were a little dry, and I think I might have gotten diabetes just from the cup of syrup I drank with it, but in all, the food was pretty good. I also tried the cinnamon rolls which were decent, but a little more eggy than I'm used to. In all, if I'm ever in the area again, I'll come back! I think I'll try an omelet next time.

How has no one mentioned the cinnamon rolls!  Everything is huge here.  And good. Even the coffee comes in a nice big mug.  Only downside is cash only.  Prices seem high, but not considering you get 2 meals (at least!) out of it.  The biscuits were incredible.  Corned beef, out of a can, but still good, fried nicely.  Eggs over medium cooked perfectly.  Hash browns nice and crispy.  I didn't even dare to try the pancakes after seeing them on other people's plates as we were sat.  Lots of nostalgic knick knacks everywhere, cool considering it's on Route 66.  Definitely recommend.

Biscuits & gravy, hash browns, corned beef hash... all fantastic. They definitely have some great recipes. The wait staff was great, except the owner seemed rushed to get tables turned over for people waiting for a seat, hence the 4 stars. On a side note, I think they could do without all of the wall decor and just have nicely painted walls - this would make the place seem a lot less crowded.

Try it again to see if coffee got better , NOPE BAD COFFEE, water taste bad ,you can taste a bad water in the coffee and in the food they dont use filtered water .if they did it would help on the taste of almost all the food and drinks ..The food is always just "okay".  Ginormous portions do NOT, repeat DO NOT, equal good food.  The omelettes were HUGE, but never had much fillings in them and I was never a big fan of american cheese in my omelets. why open a coffee shop with real bad coffee dont get it .go to Denny's or anywhere but here .try KICK BACK JACK'S in  Rancho  on foothill for a great breakfast.

Good Food Great service. Cupcake Thursdays are fun. Everyone speaks about the Rush service the ladies push on you but that's just their humor, they're very nice and helpful, I have brought many of my friends here and all of them have return with family and everyone has enjoyed the food and service.

My husband & I have been going there for about 15 years. We find the service to be very accommodating & the food plentiful. Come with cash, because that's all they take. Come prepared to share your dish, since you will find one order per person too much food. They charge for extra plates, figuring people will be sharing but not frowned upon, but we make do with the add-on toast (plate)we order so each of us has an order of toast. Great for families with small children. We are early risers so don't have to really wait for table, but be prepared to wait if you don't get there right after opening. I believe we have only had one time of service that was questionable, with our order taking longer than the normal few minutes, but everyone has an off day. They get so busy, but they care & are glad to see repeat customers. Love it & going this Sunday. See you there.

Used to eat here often in days past....The food was always just "okay".  Ginormous portions do NOT, repeat DO NOT, equal good food.  The omelettes were HUGE, but never had much fillings in them and I was never a big fan of american cheese in my omelettes.  The waitresses looked trashy in jeans that were literally painted on, I think they were a mother and a few of her daughters.  They were also pushy and I felt they had the attitudes of "hurry up and get out so I can get another customer in here because that equals more tips."

There are better places to eat...at home for example!

    Review is for Customer Service

It's been years since I've been here and was excited to bring the fiance here, but that was a bad idea. We patiently waited for 30 minutes to be seated. Once space was open at the tables and counters, they began a round of seating again. Well ... we were party of 2 that were next on the list. Unfortunately, we were looked over as they sat 3 other groups that came in way after us. As we waited patiently again for another 5 minutes after those 3 groups were seated, the hostess called more names and none were ours. I went up to her and asked her we were on the list way before the people she called and the people she sat moments ago, and said we weren't. When I pointed out where our name was, she rudely said that she called our name and nobody answered. I've been sitting near the hostess stand waiting the entire time to hear my name, and mind you, my name is not a common name, so I know when I hear my name called, and she didn't call it. With that kind of rudeness, I will never be back again.

    Warning - CASH ONLY!

Some weeks that would be a deal breaker for me, but not today. So in I went. Coffee was only $1.25, however, it didn't have much flavor and was very weak.

I ordered one of the scrambles. It had enough has browns for 2-3 people, it was good. Came with biscuits and gravy which were very good.

I saw the pancakes at the table next door and couldn't do it.

The food is awesome and the service was great! When they say the pancakes are big, they mean huge! My husband and I couldn't finish half a short stack (2)!! The biscuits and gravy are amazing! We've never had corn beef hash, tried it here for the first time, yummy! We will definitely be regulars here!

Holy-moly! Talking about bang for the buck! This place is definitely a place of value.  Big plates of hardy american breakfast for less than $10!  Didn't know values like this still existed.

From the outside, it just looks like an old dinner that is barely holding together. But once you step in the restaurant, you see a full house of hungry people. Gotta come hungry to this place because they give you  tons of food! I can't express that enough.

My family and I ordered only 3 dishes split among 4 people. Got the Ranchero steak egg omelet, corn beef hash, and the pancake sandwich.

The Omelet was great. Filled with big chunks of steak, mushrooms, and cheese to bind it all together. Served with crispy hash browns, and a side of toast or country biscuits and gravy. It was about $10-$12 if I remember correctly. Definitely  cheap for what you get!

The Corn beef hash plate comes with a healthy portion of corn beef hash, cripsy hash browns, side of 3 eggs, I had mine sunny side up. And they also give you a side order of toast or biscuits like the omelet. Everything on this dish was only $9! What a deal!

The last thing we got was the pancake. Came with 2 gigantic pancakes with a diameter of about 12 inches. It was moist and fluffy. Exactly what you expect from a good pancake right? came with a side of 1 egg, bacon or sausage. We got the bacon. They have thick slices of bacon for all you bacon connoisseurs out there!
This was like $8-$9. Super cheap.

We ended taking home one of the big pancakes home. Could not eat anymore.
With 4 coffees, tax and tip, it was only $40! So for all you peeps looking for deal for a decent breakfast, this is the place for you!

No frills here for sure. No credit/debit accepted, small booths, overhead fans on high blast... but boy is the food pretty dang good.  I had the corned beef hash, which is kind of my go to diner dish.  It came with three eggs (over easy for me of course) along with a huge helping of hashbrowns and toast all for around $8.  It was also quite a sight to behold nearly overflowing the plate, but from what I saw of the pancakes coming out of the kitchen, my corned beef hash was a tame offering.  The corned beef hash was pretty great with a nice salty and cured flavor, although I wish proportionally there were a bit more of it on the plate.  I do like my over easy eggs with the whites a bit of crisps, but at least the yolk was still really runny and just slightly warm which was a sign of a job fairly well done.  The hashbrowns were simple in appearance, but I just couldn't put my finger on why I loved them so much.  They come out in this long log-like formation with an extra crispy/crunchy exterior that yields easily to a soft, but not mushy shredded potato interior.  They really didn't need much, but what are hashbrowns without a little ketchup?  Even the toast I have to say was even notable since it was perfectly toasted with still a soft interior thanks to the thick bread and a good spread of butter/margarine (which I think I saw them spreading in liquid form right onto the toast).  The wife got the biscuits and gravy (her personal diner weakness) and they were pretty good with a nice thick, peppery gravy and soft, moist biscuits.  Surprisingly for a place like this, nothing was really that greasy (or at least didn't taste like it) so even though I scarfed everything down, I didn't feel too horrible about it.

Best breakfast joint I've been too in a really long time. our waitress playfully gave me a little bit of a hard time for not having ever experienced this place before, especially since I've lived in fontana for 4 years now. Well, I'll be a regular from now on. The proportions are very generous. Everything was so tastey. I had the corn beef hash with eggs. That included a huge side of hash browns and bisquits and gravy. I was able to make 2 meals out of my serving. Amazing!

Yelped a breakfast place for an early bf date around our area and this place showed up.  It got good reviews and decided to try it out instead of going to chain restaurants like Denny's, IHop, etc.  From the outside, it doesn't look like much but when we walked in, it totally different.  The first thing you notice is the smell of yummy breakfast.  This place only opens from 6:30am to 1pm Monday-Friday.  The inside reminds you of a diner in the 70s or so. The staff is super friendly.  Oh yeah, Cash only.  There is an ATM inside but luckily we didn't need to use it.  I hate paying ATM fees.  My wife and I shared the Biscuit with gravy.  She had the steak and eggs and I the country style ham and eggs.  We also ordered the choc chip pancakes.  The portions are huge.  The only thing we finished was the biscuit with gravy, everything else we got to-go containers.

This is a trucker haven in ontario! Always come here early cuz this place closes at 1pm! Been coming here since I was little and drop by when i'm in the area! They have pancakes the size of a BABY! Humongous! The taste is average for a pancake..nothing more nothing less!  The omelets on the other hand are fluffy and filled with goodies! The french toast isn't half bad either!

If your expecting a cinnamon pancakes or something extravagant then go to ihop or something! Red hill coffee is what breakfast is all about...the basics!

Fantastic Fontana find!  Kitchy 50s/Route 66 decor in an assault of red and white.  Excellent coffee - Farmer Brothers rules my world.  The portions are amazingly huge, but the price is really pretty good.  Aaaand, it's delicious.  I wasn't a huge fan of the omelets (they use some cheese-type product for some of them instead of cheese), but the pancakes are to die for.  The service is incredibly friendly and efficient.  This is really a breakfast-only place, but the good thing is, they stay open until after noon (great for late-risers like me).  Remember to bring cash, because Red Hill does not accept credit cards.

    Big! Huge! Insane!
This is the good ole American type diner. Good breakfast with ginormous portions. There's usually a wait here and this place is just your typical size diner.

What to expect: a long wait, table for two is usually faster of course since u can dine at the counter.

Food: Traditional breakfast, which means no eggs whites, no egg substitution, no wheat pancakes, no fancy stuff. We ordered their pancakes and Omelet. Everyone stared down on our plate when it arrived. It was unbelievable too much food.

Right next to our table a party of four shared two dishes. Here we are two small little Asians with two dishes, people were laughing. They knew we can never finish. The pancakes were bigger than my whole body. Usually big means tasteless. It usually looses it's quality. Well not here at Red Hill.

I was surprised to find the pancakes fluffily and delicious. Although it was big each bite tasted like we were eating a small pancake it wasn't doughy, it was light and soft on the tongue and it tastes just like buttermilk.

This is definitely my go to spot for breakfast!!!

Awesome greasy spoon!  My grandparents live in the area and wanted to take folks out for breakfast.  Wow huge portions, great staples like pancakes, eggs, hash browns.  Pancake sandwich was huge.  I mean couldn't even pour syrup without spilling over the side.  It was a little late in the day but service was on point.  They are definitely used to locals.  But glad I picked this place, thanks to yelpers.  Will be comming back next time I'm in the area.  Be bout this place, cuz you won't leave hungry. I'm 100% positive about that.

Good food, very friendly and clean. There's always ppl coming and going but their wait time is not too bad. Great place to eat if you're not in the mood for the usual IHOP or DENNY'S breakfast. I always go with their biscuits and gravy plate. Mannnnn good s#*t. They have the biggest pancakes I've ever seen.....huuuuuge!!! I Always come out stuffed from here. I Recommend if you're around the area.

I have been here a couple times and I always seem to end up with the same server...I  can't remember her name but she is great.  There is always a wait but I have never had to wait too long.

I think they only do breakfast but I could be wrong but breakfast is fantastic and HUGE.   I just like to order their 1 egg, hash browns and choice of toast or biscuits and gravy.  Their biscuits and gravy is great (eat it first because it tastes much better hot).  I order my egg poached and they don't have a problem with that (some places do).  I was with a friend that ordered a short stack and each pancake is bigger than the plate so unless you are super hungry I recommend just ordering one pancake.

The pancake although enormous in size is still cooked right...no doughy center and very tasty.

A little slice of Route 66 Americana.  Classic roadside diner with a counter (and other seating.  They know the regulars by name and their "usual."

Had the Red Hill Omelette for a little over $9;  i couldn't finish it all but it was the biggest, most perfectly-wrapped thing I've ever seen.   Enormous.

Watched wagon-wheel size pancakes flying out the kitchen, at least an inch thick.  I don't know if that was a special order or if that was the "normal" pancake stack, but holy smokes they were a stacked stack.  Seemed to be a favorite by the locals.

Didn't care for the coffee, but I'm a coffee snob and at least it was pipin' hot and full of caffeine.

Was happy to buy local and get to know the nice lady who owns the place.  Very charming.

I can't believe that I have never rated Red Hill. It is hands down the BEST breakfast place around! My favorites are the ground beef special omelet (I add jalapenos) and the veggie omelet. Their pancakes are massive. The french toast is also really good. Come really hungry or share because the portions are massive!

Finally a good place for a great breakfast in the area. I had Hash Browns that are really browned that fill half a dinner plate and an omelet, of choice all cooked in butter. Friendly service and good coffee all for under $10!! What more could you want? Bring cash, no cards.

I cannot believe that in all the years I had lived in Fontana.. I had NEVER gone there..

I knew my friends were going there when we would have late-start days in high school.. but I never went..

And it took my San Diegan hubby to wake us up one morning and go to try this place out..

The place was BUSY.. but they were all very accomodating and friendly..

The food.. oh my goodness.. the food.. I think they have the BEST hash browns I have ever tasted in my life.. warm.. buttery.. the perfect crisp with the tender potatos.. oh my.. my mouth waters thinking about it..

They have a great selection of omeletts too.. mom had mushroom, cheese and sour cream.. I had her leftovers for breakfast the next day.. and that was a yummy omelette!

The place is old.. but you can tell it has a lot of yummy history behind it.. I felt a little cramped inside.. but that just could be my big prego self outgrowing my space..

I'd definitely come back again.. and again.. and again.. now that I've finally discovered this gem of a breakfast place..

Pros: Good food in god portions at good prices.
Cons: Cluttered walls and claustrophobically close quarters (not to mention the massive SUCK of trying to get there during Fontana's city celebration ... LAME)
Overall: If you live nearby and know the schedule of events that would hinder easy access, please visit and enjoy - unless you cook better. Oh, and bring cash. They do NOT take card.

This is the first time I can recall eating at Red Hill. This is odd, because I grew up in Rialto and somehow managed to not hear everyone raving about this place. Regardless, I met a couple of friends for breakfast before heading off to other places and had a decent experience.

First, their location could use some help. Being on Foothill in Fontana is bad enough, but compound that with Fontana celebrating some inane milestone (seriously, it's FONTANA people ... it's not like you're Chicago or New York or some place important) and you have an aggravating beginning to your experience. I try not to hold that against them, but when I enter the place to sign in for a table, there is a gaggle of people waiting to be seated and the area in which one must wait is overcrowded and cramped. Strike one. I hate waiting to begin with and making me wait AND feel like a sardine is BAD juju.

Friends arrive and we're seated - your entire party must be present in order to be given a table - and asked what we would like to drink. Now, I haven't been before; haven't looked at the menu; haven't even warmed the vinyl of my seat with my posterior yet. I guess they probably serve soft drinks and order a Coke. Yes, Coke with breakfast. Get over it.

Friends and I order breakfast. Now, I cannot speak to their food, but mine came about as I expected it. The biscuits and gravy (a personal favorite dish) were middling good. The gravy was decently seasoned, but lacked any substance and the biscuits tasted like Pillsbury. Some people RAVE about their hashed browns. I've had better. Hell, I've MADE better. My omelette is where these guys did well. My Denver was well cooked and everything inside was piping hot and flavorful. Was the breakfast good? Sure, but Denny's would've been just as tasty in many ways AND we could've paid with card. C'est la vie.

The price was fair and the service good. My drink stayed filled (my first measure of good wait service) and everything arrived in a timely manner. Strike two came when our check was dropped on our table without any inquiry about whether or not we wanted anything else. On the one hand, I totally understand this as their portions are for lumberjacks. On the other hand, when you've got a table of three great, large men who have (in two cases) cleaned their plates, you might want to ask if they're still hungry. Crazy me.

They managed to avoid a strike three and I would, if invited to join friends, visit again. I will not be making any special trips to dine here, though, as there are dives aplenty in any city you care to name which could live up to this level of food.

Portions are ridiculously large so if you have the appetite of a normal person then I suggest you share with someone. The food itself was good, but nothing special. I think the reviews on yelp are a little hyped up so I was expecting something amazing... but I was pretty disappointed. It's not bad, but not awesome either.

Red Hill has been around for what feels like forever.  It's a great breakfast place with ridiculously over-large portions.  You can get 3 times the amount of food for the same price as a Grand Slam at Denny's.  It is only open for breakfast and only takes cash.  This place is very small, and very popular so come early or be prepared to wait, especially on the weekends.  Red Hill is a teeny little building on Foothill between the U-Haul and an auto shop, (between Sierra and Juniper) so it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention.

When you go make sure you throw your diet out the window, unbutton your pants, and stuff your face.  Go ahead and have that stack of pancakes as big as frying pans.  Dig into that omelette the size of a 6-inch Subway sandwich.  You might want to skip lunch...and maybe even dinner.

This is an awesome greasy spoon breakfast joint. I was in town for a karate tournament and checked it out for breakfast. The staff is friendly and the food is great. If your dieting, forget about it because your going to put on 5000 calories since you won't be able to stop eating the huge portions. Probably why there are a lot of really big people eating there. Made me feel like I was in the land of the giants!

I tell him I'm feeling some corned beef hash and some pancakes, he says "no way you are getting an omlette". So I got a omlette Rancho Omlette. It was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten for breakfast period.......I was so full afterwards too. I gotta say Red Hill is primo for breakfast.

Three words sum up the experience at the Red Hill Coffee Shop: GOD EATS HERE.  I'm not kidding, breakfast here is a truly divine experience.  Perfectly done hash browns, massive ham steaks, crisp thick-cut bacon, at least 4 or 5 eggs per serving, and fluffy killer biscuits n' gravy.  Fantastic coffee, methinks it's Farmer Bros but somehow it tastes stronger here.  The waitresses are friendly and fast, they gotta be, cuz this joint is never empty!  Better starve yourself before experiencing Red Hill, or else it's definite doggie bag time.

Red Hill is the perfect place to ditch 0 period... ah the days, excuse me while I wipe away a nostalgic tear.

Seriously though, decent prices especially for the amount of food you're getting.

The pancakes hang over the plate.

The omelets are huge, maybe 5 or even 6 eggs, and they come with hash browns and toast or biscuits and gravy. Weird thing though they only use American cheese, and the vegetables on the inside of the omelet aren't grilled/sauteed separately and then placed into the omelet, so they're fresh. It's good, but different from other places.

The biscuits are a bit dense but the gravy is amazing!

They won't seat you unless your entire party is there, even if it's empty, so be forewarned.

The connection with the Red Hill in Upland is that they were both owned by a couple who divorced; she got the one in Fontana, he got the one in Upland.

    And FYI, it's CASH ONLY.

I just recently started working in the area, and I've driven right past this place a number times (It's on Foothill Blvd., west of Sierra.  Strangely enough, it shares a name with another diner that's located in Upland.  Hmmm.

Because I was craving "comfort food" (translation:  something fried) for lunch, we decided to give this place a try.  Even though the place was packed, we were still able to get a table fairly quickly.  For whatever reason, it took forever to get our food (over half an hour), which was just 2 orders of corned beef hash, hash browns, scrambled eggs and toast (for about $8 an order).  The waitress was doing everything in her power to assure us that we were going to get our food, eventually, which I give her credit for.  By the time we got our lunch, our lunch hour was almost over, so we had to do some power eating and get the hell out of there.

The food was pretty good, or as good as food can be when you are speed eating, and there was a TON of it.  I couldn't finish the hash browns, which took up half the plate, and I couldn't come close to finishing the eggs.  Looking around, I noticed a few diners that had ordered pancakes, which were just a large as the ones that are served at the location in Upland.  In fact, the menu items seemed very similar.  However, we couldn't find any reference to the location on the menu anywhere on the menu, so I don't know if they are connected somehow.

Would I go back?  Probably.  Seriously, the food is pretty greasy, so if that's your thing, then you've found heaven.  The place is small, and fits the description of a "greasy spoon".  You want further evidence?  The entrance to the restrooms are OUTSIDE, towards the back of the place.  Gotta love Fontucky!
