Hmmm I would love to give this a better rating but the service was just plain awful. As soon as we walked in we heard a table complaining about their food and their meal was getting comped. Nice atmosphere other than the unhappy customers. BYOB is a bonus. Our server was very rude and gave the impression that she hated her job and that she definitely did not have the time for us. Calamari appetizer was good but nothing worth praising. The prices are a bit high for the small portions. My gnocchi was delicious. Everyone else's dishes were just "ok". Our food took about an hour and a half. There was only one server for the entire restaurant and probably one person in the kitchen too. I would maybe try this again but the awful customer service really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Review Source:Disgrace.
This was my 2nd time here. I did not love it the 1st time but my mom had a http://restuarant.com certificate so I figured I'd give it another shot.
When we arrived at the restaurant at about 6pm on a rainy Tuesday, there was only 1 other table of people. Â
We ordered calamari, cavetelli pasta with broccoli rabe and 2 personal pizza (margarita and prosciutto/arugula). Â The waitress asked if we wanted the pasta and calamari as apps. We said yes.
50 minutes later...we finally had our apps. The cavatelli pasta was beyond al dente. It was hard. You could tell just by putting your fork in it! The broccoli rabe was the most bitter I have ever tasted.
I thought the calamari was pretty good but my mom felt it was just average.
As our waitress would pass by our table, she kept reassuring us that our pizza was on its way.
We were there for over an hour before the pizza came out and that was only after we asked where it was and to just put it in to-go boxes.
Because we had a http://restaurant.com certificate we expected to be automatically charged 18% gratuity like it stated on the certificate. When the waitress (who was the only good part of our experience) brought out the check we were automatically charged 20% gratuity. We didnt say anything about this bc this is what we would have given anyway bc it wasnt the waitress's fault the food took forever and wasnt good. But I was still taken aback that they did 20% instead of 18%.
This restaurant is CASH only. We needed 3 dollars change. The waitress had to go next door to the liquor store to get our change. The whole experience was just ridiculous... I definitely do not recommend this place. The service, the food, the prices are just not worth it!
Pass on by, over prices and under spiced. Pesto is not made with dried basil and olive oil only. Â Beet salad should not be overly bitter.
The Service and hospitality was good but it doesn't over compensate for the primary purpose of a restaurant and that is good food.
maybe we got there at a bad time because there are raving reviews but I am thinking that I would not ever return and can absolutely not recommend this place.
Ate there last weekend for the first time and again last night. The first time we stayed on the appetizer section with good success. I would have given it 4 stars with some pointers to future diners. Last night, however, I would have given it 1 star for convenience only. The soft shell crabs looked beautiful and would have been perfectly cooked had the gut sac and lungs been removed before cooking. I eat them all summer while they are available and through the last 10 years of eating them, this has never happened. This is how they make them. At least that's what Maria the owner told me. She couldn't have been nicer about it but all the same...you gotta clean them before hand. Yuck. And the BF rib eye special was ordered MR and came MW. Hint...stay with the Italian classics and decent service from this BYOB and you'll give it 4 stars.
Review Source:The Red Room was an unplanned and random find for us during our stay in Galloway. We were very pleased. The service was good and the live music by a soloist provided a very romantic touch. The rice ball appetizer was made from arborio rice- different and perfectly executed. I thoroughly enjoyed the beef carpaccio, fresh and thinly sliced. My husbands homemade gnocchi's were "melt in your mouth" delicious although they needed more salt. My fish special was excellent. We left very pleased and would return if ever in the area. Byob and a great option for the Atlantic City area.
Review Source:Great for medium sized parties, red room cafe serves more than a regular cafe; as a matter of fact, it's nothing like a cafe. Â
The menus weren't extensive, but they were definitely interesting. Â Kudos to the servers who need to remember the menus, and most especially the specials which were mind boggling. Â After her rundown of the 3rd special of the day, I just wanted to order it all since they all sounded so good.
So upon reading previous reviews, I have to give this place a 4.5 since there is no other place like this in the Ventnor area. Â You would need to drive to Atlantic City into a Casino for something that would also cost a heckuva lot more. Â Red Room Cafe is great for larger parties since it's an atmosphere that caters to friends and families in groups, and the height of dinnertime definitely made some challenging conversations since it was quite loud. Â Nonetheless, the food was executed properly, and with the exception of 2 stray penne's in my linguini dish, it was quite tasty. Â The kitchen staff actually came out in between dishes and made sure everyone was good, they were even introduced to a few tables.
Would I go there again? Â Sure, as a matter of fact, it was the second time there this year.
Had a fantastic meal on Saturday Night (July 4th weekend). We started out with a cold seafood tower, very pleased with the specialty sauces that accompanied the tower. The wait staff out of the gate was very attentive and it continued throughout, (BTW- Â Red Room is BYOB which I prefer, we had a Pinot Noir followed by a Cianti), we had a large Caeser Salad, I had Branzino fish prepared perfectly cooked whole and fileted before arrival, my husband had Chilean Sea Bass, it was a giant portion, I have never seen such a generous cut, the sauce that accompanied it was SO delish! Our friends had stuffed pork chop and seafood risotto (and raved about both). I think I'm in love, it was a great meal. Make me a reservation!
Review Source:Horrible Horrible Horrible
If I could give this zero stars I would.
We just finished dinner (take out) and just had to report in as much scary detail as possible.
My partner ordered the Chicken Piccante for a grand total of 27 dollars. 27 dollars for a chicken dish? Ok, we are in Ventnor where as everyone knows except for Pizza the Restaurants are usually way over priced and hugely disappointingly bad.
For the life of us, we can not understand why there is no where to eat worth a darn. We understand that when people come down during the summer, they are in a good mood thus not expecting much from the places where they eat. PLEASE expect more where you spend your hard earned money!
We got the take out dinner home. mmm we are so excited to finally get something good to eat!
The entree was dry as saw dust. 3 pieces of inedible chicken and a small scoop of mashed potatoes. Now, we know why there were only 3 people eating in the whole restaurant when we went into the REd Room to order.
This is the same place just 2 years ago where people would wait in line during the summer. Even during the winter there were still people in the place enjoying themselves. I guess not anymore.
Ok so now we know the main entree was just a disaster. No pasta came with this 27 dollar sphincter of a dish.
Now remember, there was a dollop of mashed potatoes. What else came with the 27 dollar entree? More potatoes! These were pre-made chunks of potatoes seasoned with pesto. Interesting but it doesn't work. Â Also, along with these odd tasting additional potatoes were strings of the worse sauteed egg plant ever.
We actually took time to discuss what we were eating. Was it Zucchini, Mushrooms no not that. We ended up deciding it was just bad egg plant. When we tried to bite through the pieces, well it just couldn't be done!
Oh yea there was a salad with standard dressing. Whoopee!
College food was better than this. High school cafeteria food was better than this. Fe!
Restaurant week is coming up at the end of this month. Save your money and your digestive system.
