Doors were still locked at 5 PM, so I called to tell them they had customers waiting outside. One of the cooks let us in. Promptly seated and served warm rolls. We placed our orders (entrees only) and patiently waited 20 minutes for them to arrive. My salmon was very flavorful and my partner's skirt steak was perfect. Both were nice large portions and VERY delicious. There was an odd smell in the room and the proprietor eventually showed up and turned up the heat. We will definitely return to sample the rest of the eclectic menu.

I heard nothing but good things about this place, so decided to take the drive from Brooklyn last Friday night. I entered, with two friends around 9pm and found a live band... which was great! Instead of sitting down for dinner, we decided the enjoy the show at the bar and get our food there.

Too bad we never got to taste the food because of the lackluster service at the bar. My friends and I ordered 3 specality drinks while we looked over the menu... I think 2 purple hazes (which looked a nasty shade of poop) and 1 something else. The bartender, who looked like she had no idea what she was doing, took our order right away but took 6 minutes to give me my drink 5 minutes to give my friend hers, and another 6 minutes to give my other friend hers.

I know it sounds weird, but she literally gave us drinks individually, to the point where I was almost finished my (watered down) drink by the time my last friend got hers. Usually when people get a round of drinks...they get a ROUND of drinks...all at the same time. I immediately knew something was off.

There was noone else buying drinks at that time, so it wasn't like she was extremely busy. It's just that she's inexperienced. I don't know if she was the owner's daughter or what, but she seemed as though she'd rather talk to the bouncer or eat her chicken wings and dumplings (which looked really good) than to do her job.

She made no apologies for the less than prompt bar service and seemed more annoyed that we were annoyed than anything. She went back into her corner and continued to eat her wings, not stopping to check on us once. Once she stopped caring, we stopped caring, so we decided we'd leave where we'd actually get served properly.

We gave her a tip anyway ($4, when normally we would have given way more on a $37 round) and left underappreciated and underwhelmed.

Being a licensed bartender, I'd admit that I am a little hard on barstaff, but I also know what it's like on the other side of the garnishes. That being said, there was no excuse for her inability and she missed out on what could have been a big tab and great tip for her. I can only imagine how many times people have walked out because they were frustrated with how they were served at the bar.

I really want to give this place a try, but if that's their example of good service (on a Friday night, no less), then I highly doubt I'll be returning. Maybe if they have take out.

The first time I went, we arrived right before the kitchen closed, and the food we received tasted like it had been re-heated.  The chicken wings were tough as hell - my mouth got a workout for sure.  The drinks were weak and the service could have been better.

Have been to Retro Lounge three times for dinner over the last year. To sum it up each time the food has been wonderful but I experienced some issues with the service. On my first visit, which was with a group of about 8, the service was just overall terrible. However, the owner came over and we expressed our concerns and he was very apologetic and sociable. Also the chef came over and she was awesome. The 2nd time service was slightly better but still took forever for the food. The third time was midweek and the hostess and waitress were super nice and very attentive. Food still took a long time to come out and the owner came over and eventually we were offered a free drink for the wait, which we appreciated (there was only 2 of us though).

On to the food. My favorite entrees that I have tasted were the Jerk Ribeye (the chef's signature dish) and the Linguini in Yellow Clam Sauce. Both are fabulous. The rolls they give you when sitting down are also great. I also recommend ordering their house salad (which I don't think is even listed on the menu) it is huge and filled with tons of fresh fruit. Finally, their asian dumpling appetizer is another great choice. Overall, despite the service being less then stellar the food keeps me coming back!

I had a feeling the food would be delicious since the chef was on the TV show Hell's kitchen.  The décor is very nice and they have a very large bar and also a back room.
There were 4 of us and we ordered:

2 gigantic delicious salads $12 each  (if we knew how big it was we would have only gotten 1 as that would have been big enough for 4)
    Garlic rolls
10 wings $10 - choice of about 5 ways to be prepared
    steak $23
    ribs  $18
shrimp in coconut cream sauce with mashed yucca $16 - I had that - delicious !! although they should have removed the shells
1 carrot cake to share  $10

One of the reasons we tried this restaurant because of the www.restaurant.coupon so using that it was a great deal.

The owner and later the chef came over to talk to us.  The owner told us its been open 1 year and on Friday they have a Carribean high energy band at 8 PM.

We were there from 6 PM to 8 PM on a Sat. night and I was surprised that it wasn't crowded at all and there were more staff than customers.  For that reason, I was expecting better service (had to ask for water to be filled, had to tell them who got what entre) and I didn't like being asked 3x if we wanted drinks.  But for the décor and the food, I would definitely go back

Went here on Sunday and was apart of a birthday crowd; so the service was slow, real slow.  I order Sea Bass...OMG!!!  it taste horrible.  I had to mix it with the rice just for it to have some kind of taste.  I then asked fellow partygoers how they liked thier food they said no compliants and offer me some chicken wings....why did i bite into it and it was raw...Never Again.  I don't know who in the back was overseeing the food but they didn't do a good job at all.  I will not be back and its unfortune because the crab cakes that took over an hour to come after my food...wait arent appertizer and isnt suppose to come firts; was actually good!!!

The steaks were perfect and the service was friendly. You have to try this place. Gordon Ramsey would be proud of Nilka

Went here for drinks on Saturday after work, since I work close by, and I received a pleasant surprise!  At 11 P.M. the kitchen was still fully open, and UFC 111 was on the Big Screen.  Mixed Martial Arts, Good Food, Strong Drinks... Doesn't get much better.

I met the owner, real nice guy.  He informed me that he only had a week open and wasn't promoting the place much yet until all the kinks are worked out.  I'm assuming the kinks being Staff, oh and the Credit Card machines weren't up yet, he said they would be up in the next couple of days.   He also told me that his main business is the restaurant part, but in the night he plans on having it booming with Live DJ's, PPV Sporting Events (Hence UFC being on the flat screens)

The Decor was amazing, especially for the neighborhood.  As soon as you enter there is a HUUUGGEEE fireplace.  It has a traditional look, but modern at the same time.

The only thing that keeps me from giving this place 5 Stars is the location, not the best neighborhood, but its right across the street from the train station, which helps if your not driving, and if you are driving you have plenty of parking to choose from.

I will definitely be back for lunch and dinners, and MOST DEFINITELY to watch the UFC fights.
