Not terrible, not amazing. But it was alright! Love the vibe, had the chicken and cheese sandwich with the German potato salad. It was alright.

I love the atmosphere of Rock-A-Belly, but I don't think the food is worth it. I haven't been impressed with any of the sandwiches so far.

This place has great people that are warm and welcoming. Space is pretty limited inside, but you have a choice of sitting at the bar, a booth or outside.

The sandwiches here a good. I ordered the belly buster on sourdough hoagie bread with mayo, mustard and onions. As a side, I chose the American Potato salad. The sandwich comes out so warm and so soft. However, there wasn't enough bang in the flavor. I'm looking forward to trying their different sandwiches though. Also, the price may be a little high for the amount of food you're getting, but my sandwich and potato salad was more than enough for a little girl like me.

It is definitely "ok" and nothing more.

As soon as I walked in, the hostess immediately asked me my drink order. I tried to get my bearings and let her know I this was my first visit as she was shooting questions at me.  I just ordered water since I had no idea what, if any, the drink specials were.  I also didn't appreciate bring told to go to the back and left to find our seats outside.  Again, I had never visited the establishment so how would I know where the outside seating is? I followed a server with her hands full and hoped I wasn't following her to the kitchen.

As for the food, the sandwich portion is incredibly small but quite tasty. I urge you to get a side dish. Not the bag of chips included with the sandwich but potato salad, etc...

I'm amazed how I have never ate here... even the 4 years I lived in Manhattan. It was just an afterthought, but after talking with a friend of where to eat... this was the one spot I never been to for sandwiches.

RAB is best described as a small quaint place that is very spunky. I mean that by their decor, helpful wait staff, and atmosphere.

Walking in, we were immediately greeted by the bartender to go sit at the only available booth. Our waitress came with a great smile and asked for our drink orders.

Their menu is basic and easy enough to read that everything sounds good for all range of tastes you might have.

I ordered the Western sandwich, and my friend had the Spicy. As for the bread, got the sourdough hoagie and as for my side item, the German potato salad.

Once our food finally came out.. it looked rather small. But what made it amazing was how big the taste was. It was extremely fresh, well put together, and the meat had a smokey taste to it. I could taste each individual ingredient and it melded well in my mouth.

The German potato salad was good too. I didn't have much expectation as I've never had the "German" equivalent to the regular kind I usually order from any place. Even the potatoes had a smokey flavor present in them. They were soft but solid.

Their prices are a bit too high in my opinion. If they were 6 to 6.50 a sandwich, I think it would be a bit more reasonable.

This place is definitely the best sandwich shop in the little apple.

Rock-A-Belly is one of those places that I will always remember fondly and still love to this day.  It is a reminder of my past as a Kansas State student, but still lives up to those memories.  The place is VERY small, but that is part of it's charm.  Fun to look around at all the clocks and lamps (owner must have a thing for them).  I remember the owner behind the bar 23 years ago and he is still there today.

Food is good, love their sammy's and the cheese dip.  You can always get a cold beer.  What is interesting about RAB is how it is a restaurant for lunch and dinner, but becomes a hangout bar at night.  They pack them in.

This place is a blast from my past and I will always love it!

Nice, small restaurant.  We went after regular lunch hours and they were not busy.  Were greeted promptly by the bartender and the waitstaff.  Our service was excellent and food came quickly.  I had the 'spicy' with a side of german potato salad.  Both were excellent.  Husband had the 'ruben', a good sandwich, while not served with traditional thousand island type dressing, still yummy.

Sandwiches were a bit on the small side and for the price I did expect a bit more.  All in all, good food, nice atmosphere and quick, friendly service.  Will eat here again.

I've always loved Rock-a-Belly. Great sandwiches - haven't tried one there I didn't like. It's wisest to try and go here during 'off-times' - either your atypical meal times or when students are out of town. The service will be just as good. Decor is fun, specials are always worth trying... Very few bad things to say.

Except: 1) the prices can be a little on the steep side, especially if you get a drink. To avoid hurting in your pockets, check what the weekly 'deal' is - every week they take one of their sandwiches and discount it. Unless you're one of those people that has to eat the same thing all the time, this saves you a good amount of money.

    2) it is crowded and impossible to eat here at regular meal times when school is in session. This is a testament to the quality of food, but golly, I usually don't feel like waiting for an hour for a sandwich when Jimmy Johns is down the street.

People talk about this place all the time, so I had to go see what the fuss was all about. First off, the patio outside in the back was kinda cool. Nice place to relax and have a beer. When I looked at the menu, I was not impressed with the selections & I could not believe the prices. So I ordered anyway. I had the western sandwich. When the food came out, man was I truly disappointed. $7.29 for this sandwich and it was the size of a kiddie meal. My wife order the rueben which was a bit bigger. For the value, I would not recommend this establishment. You can walk around the corner and get a Jimmy Johns for twice the size and 2 dollars cheaper.

Ditto to all the other reviews about the great atmosphere.  Rock-A-Belly opened when I was in school 25 years ago.  They've managed to keep the atmosphere funky and fun.

It's not the typical Aggieville bar.  Namely it's not packed with drunk college students.  It tends to attract more grad students and alumni.  It's also one of the most lgbt friendly places in Aggieville.  It's not a gay bar (right now there isn't one in Manhattan) but as an out gay man I've always felt comfortable meeting friends there for dinner and/or drinks.

Nice atmosphere! Even the outside seating has a trendy "industrial feel" to it. Not sure if they did this intentionally but I like it. And the outdoor heaters make it bearable during the winter (even for a girl from san diego!)

But the thing that stood out most to me was the HUMMUS! The flatbread they serve with it is a good mix between Naan and normal flatbread, and the flavor of the hummus is to die for. The small size is also a pretty big portion in terms of appetizers. (and only $4!)

I had a Veggie Sandwich. Not sure exactly what they call it, but it's the only veggie sandwich on the menu and it was pretty good! I am used to veggie sandwiches sometimes being a bit bland, but this one was great! However, I was constantly wondering where the guacamole was and then I remembered that Kansas (unlike California) doesn't put avocado/gauc on absolutely everything..but I definitely think it would complete the sandwich.

I'll definitely be coming here again on my next trip to Manhattan!

I've been eating at this place for years.  It doesn't get any better than their turkey sandwich on a steak bun.  They have a killer CCQ (cheese dip) and the people are always friendly.  The only downside is sometimes the only seats available are outside and during the summer you have to fight with the flies, but the food is worth it!

Probably the best sandwiches in town. Been here a few times for lunch and there's always a table open (not always inside though) and service is great. Definitely does not feel like you're in manhattan when you're eating here.

    Yum!

I give them four stars for their Summer Brew (beer, lemonade and a shot of vodka) alone! Being new to the Midwest, I didn't have any idea of what this was until one of my friends ordered it. It was so delicious that I have brought back this idea with me to NY and now, people praise me like I'm some lemonade goddess (I have to admit, it does have a nice ring to it...).

Anywho, the sandwiches were good, but unmemorable... but I'd like to think it was because of the Brew. :)

Cute place, small but fun atmosphere. Staff was welcoming and quick to bring drinks and queso appetizer. Food was quick to come and our server was great with the refills.
Food was great. I had the western sandwich and my husband had the rueben. Relaxing place and good food. Will come back again.

Great sandwiches and a super cool interior!

Several times while eating her I asked my cohorts, "are we really in KS?"  This place serves good food in a cool environment with a gracious and attentive staff.  A must for a delicious sandwich or light meal in the little apple!

The atmosphere here is five stars.  The beer selection is five stars, especially next to all the Aggieville trash.  The food is three stars, because the quality is quite variable.

Great place to grab a sandwich and a beer.  I highly recommend the turkey on wheat!

In Manhattan, Kansas there are only so many places this good.

There is nothing like a good sandwich. This place offers just that and yummy extras. Menu highlights: warm pita bread with smooth hummus, SUMMER BEER (lemonade and draft beer mixed together), the Reuben, and the Garden Bagel! There are more great food items, you'll just have to check it out for yourself. The place is small so going during peak hours means waiting a while for a booth or one of three tables, BUT the covered patio area is open year-round thanks to heaters! The management and owners are so cool and very welcoming. A great place to acquire "regular" status.

Any time of day, sun or rain, hot or cold, this is my favorite place to go in Manhattan other than KSU Stadium. I've lived in Colorado for 12 years, and I still crave Rock A Belly's sandwiches. I often can't believe how many bad sandwich places that exist all over, and in chain form. America, you certainly are getting lazy and losing your pallet.

I would much rather have to pay double for a Rock A Belly sandie that get a free one at any of the chain shops.

As far as the nightlife scene, look no further. You got sweet ass vintage booths and a "Power Booth" ta boot. (Get right on up and leave the Power Booth if you see me comin) The decor is second to none that I've ever seen in any college town drinkery.

Smoke? The patio is quaint. And you don't have to look at the drunken idiots in Aggieville because it is secluded. Damn, I want to be there right now.

Love it! The Veg-ta-bull is my favorite sandwich in Aggieville. And I'm usually a meat eater.  Great drinks, food and atmosphere.  And the service is wonderful.

I came here for lunch. It didn't look busy, but the service was slightly slow. I had a turkey sub with the chicken and dumpling soup. It was warm and comforting, which is just what this Cali girl needed on her excursion to Manhattan mid-February.

Rock-A-Belly was my favorite place (I don't call it a restaurant because some go in there just for a drink too) during my college years and after having moved away for 6-7 years, I found that it's got exactly the same laidback vibe.

The typical customers are easygoing, older students along with older locals.  It's a small place, so there can be a wait, especially on K-State game days but it's always been well-worth it.

Don't pass up a Western sandwich with a Bloody Mary whenever you get there.  Awesome!

First thing: this place is great for catering.  The sandwiches are completely customizable, and the service is quick.

Really though, the best feature is the atmosphere.  It appears small when you first walk in, but the back hosts a comfortable "patio" type seating.  It is very casual and comfortable and the mood is always in good spirits.  It has the local flavor of a hangout for friends without the overly-drunk college students to ruin everything.

With that said, RAB has been around for ages for a reason.

Best drinks in Aggieville. I came from the big apple (Manhattan,NY) to the little apple (Manhattan, KS) and this was my saving grace.
Located in an area known for a bunch of underage, rowdy kids drinking, this watering hole is paradise.
They've got a wonderful back patio where you can sip a fabo martini (I gave them my recipe for the Aqua Martini) or a summer beer (lemonade and beer, wounds odd but is good).
The sandwiches are made fresh to order, the hummus out of this world. Rather busy any evening, but worth the wait.

This is the place that makes Aggieville NOT a pit of complete despair, and definately made my grad school experience more lush, colorful and blurry.

The sandwiches (my fav is the one and only italian!) and hummus are excellent, and I've heard good things about the vegetarian chili. If you're a veggie, it's one of the few places you can go in Manhattan where the vegetarian dishes aren't complete afterthoughts.

The drinks are generous and well mixed, and the summer beer is a must for any occassion, but especially when the weather turns into that beautiful kansas spring and you can sit on the back patio and soak up the sunshine and blue skies. The heaters outside were a great addition, making outdoor seating managable even into early winter.

While the prices are more than most bars in Aggieville, that may be because of the use of real glass rather than plastic cups, the establishment is cleaned on a regular basis, and the bathroom is thankfully spotless. Also, I'm willing to pay extra for an atmosphere that isn't filled with slobbering frat boys. Truth be told, RAB is the closest thing Manhattan has to a gay bar.

And the true test of RAB's badassness? You could pick it up and place it in the middle of Cambridge, or Somerville, or JP and it would be just as hip, cozy and rad--without even trying.

Very good restaurant in Aggieville. Sandwiches, bagelwiches, beirocks, soups, basically anything you would find in any deli. Great atmosphere- it's small and cute with eccentric decorations. The bar is fun to sit at if you're looking for a casual drink.
