Great burgers cooked behind the bar! If you like to see your food prepared then find a spot at the bar and watch the grill master do his thing. Several variations available up to a mammoth 1 pound double cheeseburger which is two 1/2 pound patties served up on a slightly grilled bun. Some burgers come with curly fries and some with standard boring fries, not sure why that is. Giant mugs of beer, Long Island Iced Tea. I think they had something like 40 variations of the Iced Tea.
They're known for a burger called a 5 X 5 but don't limit your self to that as I had a 2/3 pound Cheddar bacon burger that was wonderful. My wife had a mushroom Swiss burger that she loved.
This place gets very busy during meal times so be prepared to wait.
If you love burgers and dive bars you'll love this place.

I came here periodically with my family as a kid and I always enjoyed it. I've since moved out to California and it had been about 12 years or so since I'd been here. Was in town this past week and stopped in with my family for some lunch. Everybody went with the Ron's 5x5. The burgers were just as good as I remembered. A few in our party tried the Parmesan kale soup as well and it received good reviews from both. The drink portions are pretty large. The stain glass window was as charming as it was as a child. Kudos to Ron's for the great food and consistency. Can't wait to come back again someday.

From its exterior, Ron's appears to be a neat, well-preserved beer and shot neighborhood dive from a bygone era, but Ron's is so much more. Ron's offers numerous fine craft beers, which patrons may sample via a list-tour to ensure that they sample the finest craft beers in the world. The same list-tour concept also applies to dozens of "Long Island Iced Tea" cocktail flavors that are concocted by Ron's very able bartenders. Those who complete their respective tours are awarded a tee-shirt, and are enrolled in a drawing for a valuable, noteworthy grand prize.

Ron's is not just about fine beers and booze. (Thank God it is the case, because we are not big drinkers.) Ron's also offers about the finest bar food that we have ever sampled in Illinois, Wisconsin, or Indiana. Checkout Ron's grill, and marvel at the array of menu items that are prepared there. Ron's also features friendly and professional bartenders and waitresses, who have a talent for making their customers feel like welcome neighbors, and a terrific jukebox that thumps out one great rock oldie after another. Ron's just oozes of neighborhood bar charm, which is exactly why we make a point to schedule a leisurely stop-in anytime that we are even remotely close to Kenosha.

My wife and I are regulars here. We take care of our bartenders and they take care of us. There have been times when we were served by somebody new and basically treated us like just another asshole customer. The food is solid, the beer is cold, and the prices are good. If you don't have a stick up your ass you will enjoy this place!

Dive bar!!!  Hole in the wall, JAM packed...cheap!!
    We had:
Rons Fries: Weird philo-esque bread sticks, mmmm
Calamari: not bad for a dive bar!
Mushroom Swiss burger: good taste, lots of mushroom sauce, they made it rare for me!
Jalepeno Cheddar burger: if you like pump nacho cheese, this is for you!

3:30 PM on a Sunday.  We had just finished watching burger shows on t.v.  Joe said, "We are headed to Ron's Place.  Get your comfy jeans on."  So we went.  I'm a transplanted Chicagoan and I have never been to Ron's, so I only knew what Joe had told me about this little joint.  He said it's small, they have 5x5's, and HUGE teas.  Whatever, I need a burger, lezgo.

We walked in and they were packed to the seams.  We sucked in our gut's and waited til a booth opened up.  A nice man and his wife asked me if we needed a table, I said, we sure do!  We chat chitted a bit about where I was from and how it was my first time there.  Long story short, T-15 minutes til I get a burger into my belly!

Our server was wonderful, she was definitely overworked, but Amber was incredible.  They are known for their beer list, their HUGE strong long island teas, and their 5x5 burgers.  I had the original long island iced tea, which I swear was 24+ oz... you only need one.  Joe had a Blue Whale...again, only need one!  I had the original 5x5 burger with cheese, tomato and lettuce.  The ketchup and mustard are on the table as well as the onions and pickles - they store them in tupperware containers!  Cute!  I had regular fries with my dinner... amazeballs.  Joe had the italian fries, which are like a cross between crackers, bread-sticks, and love.  After two huge burgers, 2 sides, and 2 gigantic drinks...our total was $27.  I kid you not.

This place has been around since 1972, and it's easy to see why.  Their food is incredible.  The building is full of character and the staff is incredibly friendly.  I will absolutely be going back again.

I love this place!  Every time I go the service is great and the food is awesome!  Last time I went, Amber was our server and she was super friendly!  The prices are reasonable and their teas are the best!  Have a great time every visit!

The best long islands.. I love the jamaican. The burgers used to be my favorite but the last two times I went they were over cooked.   :-( The staff is nice and I will return hoping for the juicy burger I remember.

Ron's is great. Some of the best bar food around, and a huge selection of  long islands.

    My favorite!

Ron's is an institution in the local scene.  Their beers to try before you die are a great way to sample some of the best of each style.  The long islands are what everyone comes for and more than one will have you seeing double in no time (I think the little green men come and collect people around 1am).

But the best secrets are: 1) there is a downstairs.  When it gets really crowded upstairs (which is often) head to the back and down the stairs for more room.  2) there are beers here which you just can't find anywhere else (I suspect they source them from Tenuata's next door).  3) The Italian fries are an otherworldly awesome way to start the evening.

Great dive bar with incredible burgers and excellent prices.  The long islands are delicious but dangerous!!  Try the "Beers to Drink Before You Die!" list...there's some really good ones on there.

Awesome dive bar with really good burgers. The atomic burger (a special not listed in the normal menu) is wonderful loaded with jalapenos and nacho cheese. Sounds weird but it is very good. They also make homemade fried chips as an appetizer (wish they offered them instead of fries with the burgers). Btw you won't find the chips listed in the normal menu either but they always do have them.

The wait for a booth can be long especially on weekend nights but just order a long island and wait at the bar. My favorite is the Grapeful Dead. Whatever you do, do NOT sit downstairs if they offer. It is like sitting in someone's grimy basement and the servers hang out and talk while you are trying to eat.

I've been here before a hand full of times, and the service is always mediocre. We have continued to go back for the long islands, but last night was our last straw and we won't be back. We went to Ron's place last night, and there were 3 of us. We sat in the bar area, were served our drinks and food, and really never saw our waitress much again. Our group always tips 15-20% depending on the service wherever we go. We split the bill and each of us gave 15% tip on our bills, as we really didn't see our waitress much. The waitress had the nerve to approach 1 person in our group and complain that we did not know how to tip!! If she learned to be a better waitress, we would have tipped 20%, but gave the average 15% for her lack of service, and that wasn't enough for her! Needless to say, we will not be returning, and will take our business elsewhere!!!

I really like Ron's Relaxer. Tastes like pineapple juice but after two or three you know its definitely not just juice. They have really good burgers, 5x5 is my favorite. Every time I went it was pretty crowded, but in the downstairs area it wasn't so bad. Tour of Teas is neat. If you go take a look at some of the decorations, they're pretty neat. I've been here quite a few times, and waitresses are always friendly. Sometimes service was fast, sometimes slow.

Great drinks and burgers. What can I say this is a great dive a+ bar. I like that they will make a rare burger for you, no cook to 180 degrees rules for your safety. Staff is always great. This should be a Kenosha land mark if it is not.

Good steak sandwiches, burgers, walleye on Friday. Good tap beer. Can be noisy at times. Value priced.

Ron's has some of the best burgers in all of southeastern Wisconsin.  It's a nice little dive-ish bar where there's not a lot of room to roam.  But it's nice to be all tucked into a booth to enjoy a few beers.  And the beer selection is better than average.

I love the olivinos - they are better than jalapeno poppers. Gotta try 'em!

I love dive bars and this is no exception. Went there with my in-laws recently and enjoyed Sandi's charmingly insulting bartending and a tropical hooter (one of their many Long Island Iced Tea's) that was out of this world.

I'm looking forward to going back and trying a burger and a classic LIT!

Ooooh, I really like this place. My husband and I have just recently had the chance to check it out for the first time and it's awesome! Really nice interior and friendly sociable proprietor. I love Ron's wings and the Blue crunch burger. Portions are huge so definitely split things. The Mai Tais are amazing and come in a mason jar. Have one or two (for $6.50 each) and you'll stumble out of there. Awesome beer selection, and they have this 50 beers to try before you die promotion. And it's cheap! Gotta love Kenosha prices. It's not healthy eating... though I have yet to try their salads.

This place has a wonderful beer selection.  Ron's has over 75 craft beers.  Many are the best of the world.  It touts over 30 flavors of Long Island Ice Teas.

Both the beer and Long Island Ice Teas have punch cards.  After filling a card you will receive a t-shirt and be entered into a drawing for a trip or large television.

Ron's grills the most famous Burger in Kenosha, Ron's 5 by 5.  It can be made to order.  "Not for the health nut however".

I was a bit skeptical going here but I had heard a lot of good things. I went with a few friends and we sat in the basement. The long islands were great. The service was a bit slow but the food totally made up for it. I still haven't found a side caesar salad that beats Ron's Place.

I was skeptical when I wandered by Ron's Place soon after moving to Kenosha.

Skeptical and a bit nervous - stained glass windows, big red canopy and odd Germanic-style wood coverings - not exactly what I have in mind when I think "bar and grill."

Well, I was wrong.  Ron's serves some excellent food (in large portions) and great drinks (again, in large portions).

I have had lots of different sandwiches at Lunch and Dinner times and have yet to get a bad meal.  The seafood salad croissant, the BBQ steak sandwich, teriyaki steak sandiwch, and, of course, the famed 5 x 5 burger were all cooked perfectly, delivered rapidly and far too much for me to finish (for a very nice price).

Though I am a beer lover (and they do have a great selection on draft - even hard-to-find microbrews), I have broken down once or twice and enjoyed a specialty iced tea.  The Van Gogh stands out in my mind as tasty if not a bit on the sweet side (of course, it was big and full of liquor, so perhaps my memory...).

The majority of patrons are locals, followed quickly by new transplants finding their way.  The staff were friendly and appeared genuinely interested in providing good service.  During traditional peak dinner times (weekdays between 5.30p and 7.00p), there will be a wait for tables and the restaurant is not always as staffed up as would be needed for the crowd.  Sometimes, as a result, service is slower (and they have never been good at estimating how long the wait may be).

Finally, Ron's is a good place to bring your parents (especially if there are opportunities to impress upon your in-laws the value of a good spiked tea) and your kids (the non-spiked kind is recommended).

At the beginning, middle and end of the day, Ron's Place is a temple for the intemperate, a house for the hankering and a stadium for the sapless - all wrapped into one friendly well-used wood-decked space.

Long Islands delicious if you love sugar!

Ron's Extreme burger, 1 lb. of delicious burger, cheese, bacon and whatever else was on there!

Bartender, not so nice, next time politely let someone know they only get 3 Long Islands.

    Server friendly and attentive.

Not great for groups of more than 6

Yumm.  Burgers are good. It's got his old bar appeal.  Ron's relaxers are a must.  Also, check out a letter on the wall from Cpl Richard Nelson, a Marine who wrote while he was in Iraq to Ron's about how he loved the restaurant. Unfortunately he wouldn't be able to make it home to Kenosha to visit Ron's again.

I love Ron's. Everytime I come to Kenosha this is a place I want to visit if I'm in the mood for greasy food. Their food isn't healthy, so if you're looking to get something light - stick with water. Otherwise, my 2 favorite items on the menu: The Ron's Relaxer and the Italian fries. For me, one of their long island ice teas is all I need. They also serve half portions of the long island ice teas so you don't have to indulge in a full size mason jar.

    Oh I just love Rons!
What isnt to love? Fantastic food!!! And fast and the servers rock! And Long Island teas? "Jamacian" Me crazzzzyyyy! ( my favorite flavor by the way)You could have trouble with getting a booth cause they get super busy. But still absolutely worth it! And yes, Tenuta's next door is worth the stop and shop!

It is often difficult to get a seat at the booths here, and while you can eat at the bar you can also smoke (this could be a plus for some).  It had a dark pubby atmosphere, a wide selection of novelty drinks and beers (plus full bar), and some great burgers/sandwiches.

I have been going here since high school and I am still a fan.  If you are looking to start your night off w/ a burger and some booze, this is the place to start.

The 5 x 5 is the name of their house burger, which wieghs in between a 1/4 and 1/2 lb.  Goes good w/ some fries and one of their signatue Long Islands in a huge mason jar. Other menu items that please... Lasagna roll ups, teryaki chicken sandwich, and any of their cream soups in a bread bowl. Fish n chips aint to bad either.

While here, you must indulge in a particular menu item called the Italian fries.  They are long planks of fried pizza dough.  Sounds wierd, but beileve me, they are awesome.  Comes w/ marinara, ask for a side of ranch as well to keep it real. Good appetizer to split between 2-4 people.

Ron's place is the average, grimy Wisconsin-style pub (not the nicest)...until you see their large U-shaped bar that serves drinks in Mason jars.  The little streaks of light that pop into the interior shine through the silly, Ron's one-of-a-kind stained glass windows.

They prepare their burgers super fast.  I'm not sure if they beat the meat with a hammer, if it's freshly delivered from a Kenosha farm down the street, or whether they massage the cows as in Japanese Kobe burgers, but the burger meat was so smoothly thin and tender.  This is what pushes their burgers to the top!  Yes, I did have a bit of a stomach ache after eating it but it may have been due to the grease or the french fries.
