My husband loves this place because he is Irish, and it has a great selection of beers. I like it too, because the staff is really friendly and it is close to Rodger Dean..back in the old days when there was a movie theater across the street we would meet for a few beers and a bite  before the movies.. too bad the movie theater is gone..not much brings us into the area now except special events like the car show at the forth of July
Review Source:Much like its neighbor, Jumby Bay, Rooney's is a great place close to work for lunch. Their menu actually has pretty decent prices. Also like Jumby, Rooney's best items are either fried or covered in gravy (or both). Fish n chips are a great standby as is the shepherd pie. Other slightly more healthy items that are favorites include a ham sandwich with brie and (authentic Irish??) mango chutney. There really isn't anything here that's Irish except for the names of the dishes. Mrs. O'leary apparently had a hand in what one would otherwise call "primavera." Service is also adequate, but the napkin situation is untenable.
Review Source:Food is good and prices are decent. Â Double props for the large selection of beer on tap, and also bottled.
Loses a star because they are SLOOOOOOWWWW. Â Plan on it taking about an hour from when you sit down to when you get your food. Â Don't go on your lunch break - you will get fired for coming back an hour late. Â
Once your drink order has been taken, it will be 20-30 min before anyone comes back for your food order and yet ANOTHER 30-40 min before your food actually arrives. Â And nobody ever seems to be that concerned about it - the waitresses have zero personality to begin with. Â If they ask if you are ready when they bring the drinks - MAKE UP YOUR MIND AND ORDER. Â If you tell them to come back in a few minutes, you'll be on the 30 minute clock...
If you are planning on hanging out and doing a lot of chatting at a slow pace, not as big a deal.
Oh, and they continually screw up the Scripps discount by leaving it out or doing the wrong percentage. Â This will be right after you have just handed them an ID card and confirmed that it's 15% Â - they go straight to the till from there and proceed to get it wrong.
