Typical college town bar feel. Â Reminds me of a few of the bars down in Savannah. Â Long hallway, corridor layout.
Live DJ was good.
I was in late, so I didn't have to deal with many crowds Friday night.
The two bartenders were able to get to me quickly and they have a decent beer selection on draft including things like Fat Tire and Allagash White, etc.
Unsure of where to continue our night of intoxication, we decide to drop by RPM due to a recommendation from a certain waiter from a certain restaurant. Aesthetically speaking, it's pretty chill, cool, and nice... And so, I thought, "Why not? I could maybe like this place." But then, after about 5 or so minutes, I concluded that service is lacking (my friend found the chick to be on the b!tchy side) and we had absolutely horrific shots of who-knows-what... and frankly, those two factors are the only things I will ever associate RPM with. Yikes. In and out in a flash.
Review Source:Worst bar in all of Athens. Never go here if you can help it. I have been here twice and the bartenders were awful both times. Â The last time I went I was told by a bartender "how to order a drink" and then patronized by the manager. Â These people were by far the rudest I have ever encountered in all of Athens.
Review Source:Unlike the previous review, I found the service to be pretty terrible, but the selection of beers is fantastic and the atmosphere is much more laid back than Barcode...or just about any other bar I've been to in Athens. RPM is geared to more of an older, hipper crowd, not the typical college bar environment.
They were out of a couple of the beers I'd wanted, but the selection was vast enough that I was able to get something good. I was also happy to find that they had Tito's vodka on the shelf.
There's a lot of open space with booths lining the wall opposite the bar and a pool table in the back. The booths weren't too comfortable, but a seat's a seat. The place could use another bathroom or two as there was always a line, but not bad for the worst complaint.
Will definitely go back the next time I'm in Athens.
