Nothing drives me more insane than when I have to deal with a server's, or in this case the bartender's, drama. Â I just don't need it. Â It's like a job, you leave your drama at the door the instant you walk inside.
Sitting at the bar to get a pre-shopping drink, I thought I would be in for a pleasant surprise, alas I was mistaken.
"Yes, I'll have a Maker's Manhattan, up." Â "Manhattan?" Â *glaring slightly* Â "Yes, a manhattan." Â She continues to explain she's only been bartending for three weeks. Â Do I care? Â No. Â I told her how to make my drink, and she still made it wrong. Â Later she inquired how it was. Â I responded, "I've had better." Â Not even missing a beat, she replies, "Oh, well, I've only been bartending for three weeks." Â No! Â Absolutely not! Â The correct response is, "Oh, is there anything I can do to make it better?" Â Yes, that's the correct response. Â
She seemingly forgets about my friend and I until I place the menus on the edge of the bar directly in front of her, which she cues in on and takes our appetizer order. Â Oh, not to mention the fact my friend had a dirty martini. Â Apparently "dirty" just meant adding olives because it did not have any olive juice.
She went and took a smoke break, how lovely, shortly thereafter. Â The other bartender happens by and I ask if she knows if our bartender is just having a bad day. Â She responded saying that she was actually having a terrible day, but did not give a specific explanation. Â She did actually ask us how we knew she was having a bad day, but I just said it was her body language and the way she was talking. Â She graciously gave me a class of water to go with my bourbon, because that was not a manhattan by any means. Â She also added olive juice to my friend's drink. Â My friend actually only ate one of the olives because she said it tasted like chlorine. Â Chlorine?! Â What the hell?
The Thai Phoon tenders were decent, but nothing spectacular. Â They were essentially crispy chicken tenders out of a frozen bag with a sweet-chili sauce; in other words, nothing special.
I would skip this place. Â I mean, why would you come here when you have so many other better options so close by.
