A four star average for the Rum House? Let's maybe put things in perspective here.
The Rum House is one of those phenomena that I just don't understand. The atmosphere is a silly kind of Jimmy Buffett-meets an all-inclusive Carribean resort thing. The menu isn't particularly staggering, but from the hordes of thirty-somethings that are constantly stuffing the patio and bar in post-work-hour, you'd think it was the best restaurant in New Orleans.
My theory on the popularity of the Rum House is that it's a perfectly acceptable place to bring your boss or work colleagues without feeling weird about going to a real-life bar. It's the culinary equivalent of the Eagles or John Mayer. Â If I found out that Rum House franchised out to every luxury mall in America, I wouldn't be surprised. Everything is salty and sweet and sauced well.
The nachos are absolutely great. The drinks are good. But golly, sometimes the service is painfully slow and a little bit icy.
You know how you see those families trudging down Magazine on their One Big Walk of their New Orleans Vacation, dodging from air conditioned shop to air conditioned shop in search of a meaningful experience? The poor kids sweating through their flip flops and mom and dad showing signs of doubting their whole harebrained scheme and starting to snipe about how they shouldn't have left the Quarter? That family is going to find the Rum House. Mom and Dad are going to have icy margaritas and the kids are going to have some decent tacos and it's going to be an absolute religious experience for them.
At the end of our Garden District tour, our guide suggested we go to Magazine Street and try The Rum House. After that long walk, we were wise to take his suggestion.
Yes, the wait is long, but not outrageous. Anything worth having doesn't come easy. First thing we appreciated is that the regular drinks (water, tea, soda, etc) comes in big mason jars. Definitely a welcome sight in the heat. Next thing we appreciated was the wide variety of tacos on the menu. We ordered two trifecta plates with lamb vindaloo, fried oysters, pork mole, calypso beef, fried fish, and duck cracklings. We shared plates and got to try a little of everything, each being very tasty. The black beans and jerk veggies we had as sides were good too. The service was also very prompt and polite.
The next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to swing by again and try the rum flights.
I've never had a bad meal here and since I always have family & friends visiting, I jump at the chance to bring them... & they always ask to go back. I order the Two Dat with the calypso beef tacos, mango rice & plantains. Though I have tried a few other meats, I still go back to the calypso beef. House Margie & the guacamole and I'm one happy girl. 2 margies and I'm even happier. ")
Tuesdays are Taco Tuesday. $2.00 tacos & $2:00 beers
Delicious tacos, strong drinks.
The word is obviously out about the place because it is always packed. On more than one occasion we've had waits over an hour. Grabbing a drink from the bar is a great way to pass the time, but during their peak dinner hours, it's essentially inaccessible. If you do manage to wedge yourself closer, there's a 89% chance you're in someone's way; usually it's the wait staff trying to do their jobs. Fortunately, the bartenders are attentive to the crowd and extremely efficient.
Don't be shocked the wait, and have a good time.
First time here and loved it. Decent drinks but the food was great. Â Avacado, calamari and flatbread apps were all perfect. Then ordered 3 Trifectas (9 tacos and 3 sides total). Â Brisket tacos were the winner by far. Really great place to bring a group and take it on family style to try a lot of different things.
Review Source:When the bf and I were down in NOLA last month, we made a point to come here, plus I wanted to show him around the garden district, cause the last time he came he did the rookie mistake of living on bourbon st..
The AC was on freeze but then again, it was hot as hell that day and with all the passing rain storm it was a steam bath...we order some Abritas and tacos and left their full, happy and freezing...which helped as we heading back to the hotel...we just thawed out.
I guess since it was the beginning of summer we missed the frat boys.
I really enjoyed the food. The table beside us with 6 loud, drunks, hardly able to make it to the restroom, not so much. I am all for partying and having an awesome time. But families do attend this restaurant and drunken potty mouth's need to be at a bar. That way the kids won't disturb your good time...
Review Source:Decent food, but nothing special. Their salads and sandwiches are probably the best items on the menu. Tacos are just okay and too small to be worth the money. Also, it's New Orleans .. there are tons of great dining options. The idea that people will go through an hour + wait to eat here is beyond me. Certainly not worth that amount of time or effort. I eat there a lot because the women at work always suggest it .. I usually get the Rum House Salad + jerk chicken or one of the sandwiches. They're edible, but I'm happy when they decide on a different spot.
Review Source:I have no problem with this place. I've been here a couple of times the food is not bad and I've never had a bad experience. Why is this place always, without fail, the busiest place on Magazine Street every damn day!? Props to them, I'm sure the owners are killing it. It's just that there are so many other places just as good, if not better than this place in the same area that are never busy. Seriously, people spill out onto the street in front of this place!
Review Source:I do believe that The Rum House is one of my new Favorite places in town. Â I came today for the first time ever and it will not be my last. Â It has the decor of a beach restaurant, and the staff is friendly.
I had the Rum House Punch to drink, it is alcoholic and was very delicious.
To eat, I had the Two Dat taco combo, one Fried Oyster and one Seared Scallop with the fried plantains and cornbread dressing as my sides. Â It did not look like much when they brought the plate, but I am over full and very happy walking out. Â It was truly delicious.
I look forward to coming back and trying other dishes.
After a tour of the New Orleans Brewery, my friends were ready for munching. This was my second time at Rum House and I can't say I'm super wowed by it. It was a hot summers day when we walked in and was asked inside or outside seating. It's pretty obvious from my hot mess of an appearance we would all opt for A/C.
Took about a minute or two for someone to get our drink orders since half the party had excused themselves. I can't say I was too hungry, but tacos sounded delicious after having some beer. We ordered an appetizer of the 'damn good nachos' which came out fairly quickly. Which we ended up devouring within a matter of minutes like barbarians. Can't say it was the best nachos but I think we were just ready to much on food. The nachos was fairly a huge portion for five people. It had pulled pork, black beans, cheese, and jalepeno peppers. I might be forgetting a few items which were minor.
I was eying the special of two tacos and two sides. The mango coconut rice is pretty yummy, but i loved their sweet potato chips. My bestie recommended I get the Taco Trifecta which contained three tacos and one side. I wish I had stuck to my original plan. I didn't care too much for the taco shell they used. Nor did I really enjoy the three tacos I chose as much as I thought I would. I believe I chose the flaky fish, I can't recall which beef taco, and the Calpyso beef (recommended by the waitress). I finished the first taco which was probably the Calypso and picked at the other to. I completely left the beef taco after taking a bite back on the plate.
Utterly disappointed I ate what I could because I didn't want to waste a whole meal. I've never tried the alcoholic beverages here yet, but from what I heard they're pretty awesome. Not sure if I will for the time being since I'm not much of a drinker myself. I do hear they have the fish bowl here from the bestie. I'm sure it's better than the one served on Bourbon Street. All in all I think I would come back if I was on Magazine and try something different next time around.
Magazine street, how I've missed thee.
PROS:
- incredible menu and list of drinks
- Caribbean fare that's authentic delicious
- fast service, despite the crazy amount of people around
- dogs are allowed outside!
- a list of tacos that are on the verge of being ridiculous... something like 15
- being authentic the menu uses words that one may not know, but they provide a food glossary - education AND food, yay
CONS:
- kind of a bro spot - frat-tastic
- super crowded
- not enough restrooms vs. the amount of people they serve, and when I did finally got into one, it was super gross. Toilet paper mâchéd to the floor, urine on the seat and something really nasty running down the wall...
#rumhousenola
Service was okay. Not rude, just not very friendly.
Atmosphere kinda sucks. Really too loud in there to hear the person you're sitting next to.
Food, meh. I haven't liked any of the sides I've tried, or appetizers either. Â The tacos were kind of bland. Might have been the corn tortillas. I don't know. It didn't wow me.
MMMmmmmmm MMMMmm! Â Thats all I can say! Â I love this stuff ! Â It is rich though, if you got a delicate tummy, watch out! Â But not in a bad way. js.
The conch balls are awesome, the mango salsa is really good and the tacos....oh the tacos. Â I cant get enoughm though for somereason, 4 fills me up good, and they are small and im a big guy, but that plate with 4 of them does me right everytime.
They handle a big groups really well too. Â Was here for a graduation party. Â
The fruitty cocktails they make, I havent had a bad one yet. I have had a bunch, or sips from my friends and they are all delicious. Â The bloody mary with the jalapeno infused vodka is yummmm!
I cant wait to go back. Â I think the slow times on a sunday are 4-6pm if you are a sunday person.
Tacos are pretty cheap, and for happy hour you can get their "Painkiller" cocktail for $5. Don't ask me what it is, all I know is that there's rum in it. Or two kinds of rum, or three. The tacos are also not generic: they range from Brazilian flavors to Indian to Carolina BBQ. The taco meal deals are usually my go-to. I have never not enjoyed myself here. It just gets pretty crowded at dinner, as is expected. Seating can take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes.
Review Source:What I love about this place is that you can order one of every kind of taco if you wanted - that's the best way to try a bunch and they all sound/look really good. I've only tried a few - fried oyster and crispy fish - but there are a lot more I want to try. The Mango Guacamole here is AMAZING. I could eat just that as a meal. split the Mahi Mahi fingers with my roommate one time and we weren't impressed. They seemed over done and I didn't like the sauce that came with them for dipping at all. Sangria is a little too sweet for me. There are a lot of other things here that I'm eager to go back and try. Great for sitting outside if you can get a table. Great area of Magazine Street.
Review Source:Try the pork nachos they are freakin delicious. I get them every time we go. The ceviche tacos are also really good. As far as the tacos I don't see what the big deal is. They have many different options with toppings galore. When the tacos arrive they are generally not very flavorful, which is strange. How can a taco with five different toppings be bland? I would like to give it more stars but the menu is hit or miss for me. I'll stick to the nachos and ceviche tacos.
Review Source:Great place on Magazine Street to grab a few tropical drinks and Caribbean/Latin fare. The drinks we had were great, especially the Painkiller, as we're the chips, salsa and queso. Ditto for the service. The tacos were good but not great (calypso beef was the best I tried). I give extra credit because it's the only restaurant of it's type (Caribbean with vibrant atmosphere) I know of in Nola (There's a more authentic Caribbean joint on the Westbank but it's devoid of any atmosphere).
Review Source:I wandered into The Rum House at that awkward too-late-for-lunch-too-early-for-dinner time, seeking a little bite to eat and a place to cool off. Good choice, Sarah! First off, it's got a great vibe. There's tons of outdoor seating (picnic table style), open windows, lots of art and bright colors on the walls, and bright happy music playing. With the NOLA sunshine outside and the AC blasting, it's pretty hard to beat.
I got a caiprihina, and the Two Dat combo: 2 tacos with a choice of a side (I chose their traditional salad). I spent a LONG time trying to decide which tacos to go for, because their selection is HUGE and each incredibly unique. Finally, I settled on the Lamb Vindaloo (red curried lamb with mint yogurt chutney and sliced plantains) and the Jerk Chicken (topped with mango salsa).
Everything was super tasty - not the absolute best tacos of my life, but they hit the spot. And the salad was great too! It's a good sized portion for a side, and comes with spinach, sweet potato, goat cheese, cranberries, red onion and this flavor-packed curry vinaigrette. The caiprihina was sufficiently boozy (ok, VERY boozy - a little too sweet for my taste (I like it more lime-y), but cold and yummy.
I wished I had been there for dinner or with a group to really go after the menu and try some things. This trip whetted my appetite - I'll have to come back!
Alright, yall, I have seen the light. Fiance, fur child, and I stopped in here one evening around 5:30 to grab a bite to eat. As we were sitting outside in the perfect weather, I thought hmmmm a margarita would be perfect right now. LO AND BEHOLD, margaritas were only $4 till 6:30. Woooo!
So obviously I ordered one, which came in a mason jar and was sufficiently delicious and boozy. We ordered queso and chips to start off, which was delicious, but really I feel it's hard to mess up queso. Fiance ordered one taco and one side, and I don't even remember what she got but I'm sure she liked it. I was too blinded by the fact that my two tacos (fried oyster and lamb something or other) and my two sides (mac and cheese and jerk veggies) were unbelievably wonderfully tasty and perfect. I swear, that's not just the margarita talking. When you read the descriptions, some of the add ons may seem a bit off the wall, but TRUST ME when I say that they know what their doing in terms of flavor pairings with these tacos.
The only thing that sucked was that I felt a tad rushed. Our food came out fast, which was good, but I got the sense that they wanted to get us out so that they could pack more people in (it was a Friday night, after all). That being said, our waitress was really sweet and did a great job, even though my fiance and I started bickering mid ordering because we didn't know what we wanted. hah!
I will definitely be back, preferably on this Taco Tuesday I keep hearing about.
Can't wait to come back for $2 taco Tuesdays. As of lately, I've become  a huge taco snob. The Rum House embodies what one of my friends once said about New Orleans: Food everywhere else is an experience. But in New Orleans food is not just an experience but a form of art...constantly changing and being perfected. The Rum House by fusing Mexican and Jamaican food does just that.
I'm a huge fan of fish tacos and would recommend the grilled or fried Mahi Mahi. Jalapeno cole slaw is the best topping on any taco
When you are here its island time! and who doesn't have time to be on an island? I like to come here for lunch because dinner time gets crazy especially on $2 taco Tuesday. If you get off later than 5 and don't teleport here you will wait at least 20 minutes. Â This won't be a problem because they have a great bar with hundreds of rums to choose from if that is your thing. They have good fresh margaritas, rum punch, mojitos and more.
All of their tacos come on corn tortillas, I'm not a fan of corn but they have flour by request at no price difference. Their tacos are by far their most popular menu items. They have awesome ceviche taco app that I get as my entree most times because its so good. Their "damn good nachos" is a great app to share because it is HUGE and awesome! Service has always been fast, attentive and friendly.
The Rum House has been my favorite restaurant in New Orleans for the last four years! I come here almost every week for delicious drinks and Caribbean food (tacos!), and the fun, lively atmosphere. I often dine here in large groups just so I can taste everyone else's food - every bite I've taken has been great. The servers are always happy to explain items on their menu.
Favorite dishes: I highly recommend all of their tacos, especially the "Calypso Beef" (their best seller!) and "Pork Molé". My other favorites are their "Damn Good Nachos" (served on an enormous platter... perfect to share with the whole table as an appetizer or to share with one another person as a meal), avocado mango dip, and cornbread dressing. Their strawberry margaritas are blended with fresh strawberry puree and are delicious. Mojitos are perfectly minty and excellent too.
Cons: Since they don't take reservations, you can often wait 45 minutes for a table on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Also, the restaurant is loud, which is annoying when you're dining with a large group.
Before you read too much into this review, I want to say off the bat that the 3 star rating is for the whole experience, not just the food. If I were to break it down into food, service, and setting, the stars would be thus:
Food = 4.5 stars
Service = 4 stars
Setting = 2 stars
The food is freaking awesome here. Absolutely loved the tacos and drinks. For a detailed run-down, just look over their menu on their website. They have a great concept for the food, and their tacos are as delicious as they sound. The calypso beef, oyster, and grilled fish tacos were incredible. The scallop taco needs work - it's bland and flavorless. Might be nice if they scaled back on the menu to focus on fewer flavors to make ordering simpler and throughput faster.
The service was good - our server was friendly, and tried her best to get things moving along. It was extremely crowded that night, as I imagine it is most nights, since this place is a favorite amongst the college crowd. She had cold drinks on the table and food was out fast.
Setting was the letdown here. The place is extremely loud!! (I know I'm going to show my age here... Mostly college students here enjoying the bar.) I wasn't expecting a hushed haute cuisine place, but I could not hear the conversation that the person sitting next to me was trying to have with me the entire meal. I wonder if the owners would consider investing in some acoustic tiles to help absorb the loud cacophony! Bathrooms could certainly be cleaner - nothing makes guests wonder about the hygiene of a restaurant more than if their bathrooms are a filthy mess!
This place is EVERYTHING! It's one of my FAVORITE places to go and hangout for food and drinks. Why? Because I absolutely love Mojitos and Cahprinas AND there are so many good things on the menu to choose from. Â
I don't know where the best place is to get Cahprinas in New Orleans, but for me, this is where I go if I want a really good potent one! Â In addition, the assortments of mojitos are always tasty and full of mint! There is a signature drink called the Pain Killer. It's supposed to be strong but it's actually pretty mild.
In addition to the tasty drinks, the food is super yummy! The tacos...I should really force myself to try more of them because I've only eaten the scallop, oyster, shrimp, and fish ones. They are all sooo DELISH!! And there are many more...from lamb & steak to chicken AND MORE. However, don't go looking for ground beef; they don't serve those.
Now to the sides....the jalapeno cole slaw, cornbread dressing, and fried plantains are all really good. The smothered greens are absolutely wonderful! Tastes like something your grandma would cook! I wasn't crazy about the coconut mango rice. I thought it was kind of plain, but nevertheless, you could always mix the greens with it to make it work.
I forgot to mention that the Damn Good Nachos appetizer is just that: Damn Good! I ordered them with steak on it and they were chock full of steak. The steak was cooked perfectly too! This appetizer was so big, I shared it with one other person and we could not finish it. We were stuffed and could not eat our entrées.
The Rum House is also very child friendly. I can come in with my two year old and not worry about his noise level. Â It's loud, but not so loud that you can't hear yourself speak. Ooh Rum House, I love thee!
I am hesitant to give this place 5 stars, because I think there has to be that WOW INCREDIBLE factor to get it and this place was just not quite there.
That being said, this place is super delicious. I like to get the two dat combo because you get to try 2 different tacos and 2 different sides. All of the tacos I've had were delicious (I had the creole rib and mahi mahi last night, but I've tried others before), though tiny. The mac and cheese side is delicious, as are most of the other ones I've tried. I had the cornbread stuffing and, while it was spicy, which usually means instant love from Katie A., it was...mediocre. Definitely pass on that. My friend got the jerk chicken salad and was like, "Oh...I must not have liked it that much...since I cleaned the plate and left not a crumb behind..."
I've been when it was pretty crowded and it did get a little loud, but you should take that with a grain of salt: I tend to like quieter places and am sensitive to volume.
I've also sat right next to the door twice, and while it wasn't an experience-killing spot, it was a little awkward to be right next to all of these people as they are coming in and out of the restaurant. This is being really nit-picky though.
Pretty reasonably priced, considering the quality of food and the location. I would definitely recommend coming by; plus it's right near a bunch of bars so if you want to do some bar-hopping on Magazine it's a good place to get some food in.
This place will change your life. Â From the ambiance to the friendly staff to the AMAZING food, this is a must go in New Orleans. Â Try the guacamole that has been topped with mango. It's sweet, tangy and spicy all in one. Â I cannot recommend this highly enough.
The "Run Down" is a pretty close replica to an authentic Jamaican dish. I must say sometimes it's spicier than others but not to fear it still tastes great.
This is definitely one of my favorite finds in New Orleans. Â Dress is laid back and very casual. The only down side is finding parking because it doesn't have a designated parking. Â But still. .. Enjoy!
Hello bandwidth killing website. -1 star just for that. Seriously people, abandon Flash like the plague.
Hate to say it but the food was average at best. Sure some items were a bit unique, but overall the food was just ok. And in this town, ok is a death sentence. Place seems to rely on seafood from places other than the Gulf. Why?
Unless one has caviar on an appetizer, there is no reason to price one for $10 or more, especially nachos....
Overall the food is not Caribbean but Hispanic-influenced. But that is not what they hype. Tsk...
I'd like for it to be known that these aren't real tacos. Â Having spent considerable time in southern california, these are trendy, interesting combinations of food put in little tiny tortillas. Â That doesn't make them not delicious howerver. Â Two of my tacos were amazing (lamb vindaloo and duck duck goose get two thumbs up, I wouldn't order the scallops again). The poblano and manchego polenta left much to be desired. It tasted undercooked, had little to no flavor which was surprising considering the supposed presence of poblano pepperss, and was definitely not cheesy. But my friends' plantains and mac and cheese looked really good. Our waitress was meh, she got one drink order wrong and highly recommended the polenta. The house rum punch lived up to the Nola tradition of strong and sweet so that you don't know how drunk you're getting.
It's crowded. Too noisy for a normal speaking volume. But totally worthwhile. I'ld put it on my list of places to return.
Wow. AMAZE. The food here is incredible ... the menu has a full offering of appetizers, salads, "big plates," and a whole page of delicious taco options. I had the chili glazed shrimp taco, the flaked fish taco, the scallop taco and a side or coconut rice. It's probably just because I was drunk (hey, it was mardi gras), but the scallop taco almost brought tears to my eyes ... it was that delicious. The scallops were big and juicy. The coconut rice was sweet but had a nice umami accent to it. They also make their own house hot sauce, which people rave about, but it tasted kind of like apricot jam with a bite to it to me (thank goodness they had tabasco).
The service was great. Our server was prompt and gave us plenty of attention even though the restaurant was pretty full. (Interesting aside -- my friend who is a local has heard a rumor that they are very "selective" about their hiring process, so the servers here tend to be very attractive).
There is quite an extensive bar as well. We ordered a frozen strawberry margarita pitcher, and I was very happy with our choice. It got the job done, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I left feeling full and satisfied, but still wishing I had ordered more food ... Just because it was that delicious. I will def be wanting to come back to this place on my future visits to nola!!
Not only was it a good sign that the restaurant was packed, but I was excited when I saw the red stripe boxes on the table. My country (Jamaica) was being represented so I felt obliged to check it out.
My boyfriend ordered the Jerked Roasted Chicken. Althought it did not have the authentic jerk taste or wasn't very spicy, it was tender, well seasoned and well cooked. The coconut mango rice it came with was also not authentic, but has a nice taste to it although it was a bit too sweet.
I choose to order the Two Dat Taco Combo. The first taco I had was the Seared Scallops. It was extremely good, tender, fresh and very nice combo of flavors. You can't go wrong with scotch bonnet! The Fried Oyster taco was even better. Again it was crunchy but tender, nice combo of flavors and finished off with a nice little tangy spicy taste. In addition to the tacos, the meal came with two side. I choose plantains and coleslaw. Both were delicious and fresh.
The food here was really good and I can see why they were so busy. Our waitress, on the other hand, wasn't very good. She was slow in about every aspect of the meal but most annoyingly not refilling our waters. I saw the other people on staff doing a much better job so it was just a matter of not getting the right person.
Eh...I don't get it. Â After reading all the reviews, I was SO excited to try this place. Â Maybe it was what I ordered, maybe it was an off-day, I don't know.
First let me say our waiter was AWESOME. Â Service was great.
The food:
Had the pork mole taco and the brisket taco. Â Both meats were incredibly dry which was surprising to me. Â Both also lacked flavor. Â I have had MUCH better tacos out of food trucks in Austin and here in NOLA. Â I love tacos, and honestly they are pretty hard to screw up for me, but these were REALLY just O.K.
For sides I had the smothered greens and the Black Beans with Chorizo Relish & Sour Cream. Â The greens were really just not good. Â I have grown up on greens all my life and tried MANY different takes on it...I would say steer clear of these. Â The back beans were by far the best thing I had to eat. Â They were seasoned well and delicious.
The location:
The restaurant interior is awesome. Â Plenty of seating but from what I hear this place stays pretty slammed. Â We went on a day when it was pouring down rain and the place was almost empty, so I thought that would work out well...unfortunately, the food didn't reflect the lack of rush. Â If you have even been anywhere on Magazine St., you know parking is what it is. Â Street parking...don't expect a lot.
Again, maybe it was an off-day, maybe it was what I ordered. Â I may give it another try, but for the prices charged, I really can't, at this point, justify the cost for the food quality received.
I have by now set a routine of bringing all of my out-of-town visitors here for a meal. I dream about their salads and tacos. Tuesdays will forever remind me of Rum House. Who would think that the best food in NOLA would be Caribbean-fusion?
I have come here so many times in the last six months I've spent in New Orleans. Oh, let me just count the ways I love this place to bits and pieces..
Salad - perfectly dressed with tangy sweet sauce, topped with succulent Mahi mahi medallions and chewy hearts of palm. Ginormous portions for a salad.
Seafood Pepper pot with toasted french bread, served HOT! It's a Caribbean version of Bouillbaisse whose soup base is a cross between curry and clear soup. Creamy without leaving dairy residues in your mouth. Spicy but not overbearingly so. Okra and beans to round out the nutritional balance.
Guac and white con queso. How I always end up consuming 200+ extra calories from chips even before my dish is served.
Tacos - layered with fresh vegetables (to keep the tortilla dry from the sauces, according to my bf), a generous mound of meat fillings and the perfectly paired sauce.
The sides! One would never think that vegetable side dishes could be so good.
Consistently satisfying. Stellar menu and perfected recipes... and most importantly healthy and moderately portioned! mm mm mm... love you long time.
As many other reviews are sure to mention, TACO TUESDAY! Every tuesday, all tacos and bottle beers are only $2. Delicious and satisfying (if you get three... or six), its a great deal. HOWEVER, don't intend to get in and out in an hour- Taco Tuesday is always a three-hour affair.
The good thing about the Rum House is that it offers a variety of wonderful dishes that will entice you on a night other than Tuesday!
The Caribbean jerk flavor in their dishes is wonderful, and definitely try the crab sandwich. Mmmmm-mmmm!
Despite its fun and often crowded atmosphere, the place can also offer a more intimate experience, depending on where you are seated. I've been on a few dates here, and I've never felt overwhelmed by the other patrons.
