I have been here twice now, and I would say that the food is quite good.

    It's a little mom-and-pop type shop that's tucked away in a corner.

Being that, the place isn't really highly staffed and food can take quite a bit of time to come out.

However, the food was delicious. I had the Kal-bi bento box, and it was amazing.

I would not, however, recomment the ramen. The spicy ramen, I am pretty sure, was just a pack of Shin Ramyun.

I would recomment this place, but not if you are looking to take a quick lunch break.

I really like Sakura Bowl. I frequent them for lunch as they are close to where I work. The Korean dishes such as Bulgogi, Bibimbap and Ramyun are very good and very inexpensive. Is it top of the line Korean BBQ Grill with all the trimmings? No they are a small lunch style shop but for that they are decently priced and the food is always fresh and good. They are also always very friendly!!!

We went here based on the reviews on Yelp expecting a quaint atmosphere and cheap delicious food. Walking in the first impressions were less than ideal. The dining area is very sparse. Tattered rice paper posters line parts of the wall and ceiling. A mishmash of home and commercial lighting and decor appear throughout. Wooden tables on a tiled floor make up the majority of the dining area. Theres a small counter at the back where you place your order. I ordered bulgogi and the lady behind the register didn't know what that was. Considering there aren't many items on the menu to begin with I was a bit surprised. Drink selection consists of cans and bottles in a stand up cooling unit. I put in my order and they proceeded to ring up my order completely ignoring my girlfriend standing next to me. As soon as she spoke up they just assumed she wanted the same thing and wrote down two bulgogi instead of asking her what she wanted. At this point my girlfriend just shrugged and said its fine and we sat down at our table. The food came out pretty quick and was pretty average. I'd say its slightly lower in taste and quality than Tokyo Joe's. The beef was chewy and tough in parts. The rice was good but not sticky accompanied with some veggies. It didn't really stand out from other bulgogi dishes I've had elsewhere. It could have used some Sriracha sauce however the only condiment on the tables was soy sauce. Later that night my stomach was pretty upset from something in the food but I'm not sure what it was. I was quite disappointed. Based on the reviews here I was hoping to find a new frequent dining spot but this was not the case.

Overall, great choice for a quick bite of delicious Korean food!

Tucked away in a small strip mall off Arapahoe, Sakura offers fresh and tasty Korean cooking. Service is always friendly, prices are right and the food is tasty! Try the bibimbap! Yum!

(  ^ _  ^  )  This is a picture of me smiling. This place is the real deal. Spicey Pork and Miso Soup make the DTC managable amongst an onslaught of mini-vans, business suits and traffic for no apparent reason.

I've been back three times since my original review, so you can safely assume that this one will be quite positive. Sakura simply executes their compact menu extremely well.  It's just so nice to be able to pick from a single page of offerings and know exactly what to expect each time versus having to take chances by wading through endless pages of a menu.

My favorites are the bimbimbop, bulgogi and spicy ramen. The homemade kim chee is also a big hit. Service is genuine and the ladies who work there are lovely. My office is just down the street, so Sakura's become a regular in my work lunch rotation. Highly recommended.

Yum! I work nearby and the bento box is a great lunch option. I especially like the chicken teriyaki. The gyozas are delicious! All in all it's a great value. I would love them even more if they offered a typical bento box with a cali roll, tempura, a meat dish, etc. I'll concur with the other reviews about the wonderful, polite service.

Sooo good, you have to check them out! The bento boxes are great, comes with salad, miso soup (best I have tried in CO so far) and gyoza and of course your choice of protein and rice. I usually get the "beef" bento aka Korean bulgogi and my kids share the chicken teriyaki. My husband gets the spicy pork dish. The portions are huge and the prices are great! I look forward to trying out the tofu soup on my next visit.  Owners are very friendly and they seem like a great family. Try this place out, you will love it.

Finally! A legit place to have Korean (and some) Japanese rice plates, noodles, and soup! I have never been so happy to find an Asian restaurant that is authentic, delicious, and affordable here in Colorado - especially in the suburbs of Denver. Coming from the Bay Area, we were definitely spoiled to have joints only a few blocks away from home. It's been pretty difficult to find good Asian places around here so I've resorted to learning some recipes myself! So far we've been here twice and we plan on visiting at least once a week after a good workout at the gym (hey the food's pretty healthy so no guilt there!).

On our first visit, the Hubbs and I had the small Spicy Pork bowl (aka Daeji Bulgogi) over brown rice and boy it was good -- and SPICY! The balance between the tender pork slices, crunchy veggies, and the fragrant rice totally hit the spot. It was a little too spicy for us both so next time we'll be asking for the sauce on the side. Also, they do have a kids' menu which isn't listed on their menu -- just ask. My son usually gets the Beef Bulgogi which comes with a side of rice and choice of a drink or miso soup.

On our second visit yesterday, Hubbs had the Beef Bulgogi rice bowl with a side of Kim Chee, our son had the kid's Beef Bulgogi again, and I had the Bibimbap - which was deelicious! I've always heard about and watched videos on how to make Bibimbap but never tried it till then. It did not contain the usual ingredients like the bean sprouts, kosari, and a few other veggies but it didn't ruin the dish at all. Bibimbap is another rice bowl that contains a side of beef and veggies infused with sesame oil over rice and topped with an over easy egg. It also comes with a spicy sauce. You basically add your sauce, break up the egg, and mix everything in the bowl and eat! SO GOOD. It tasted even better with a few pieces of kim chee!

Customer service-wise: we had two different ladies help us and they were both very polite. Oh FYI - although the restaurant's name is Japanese, the owners are Korean :)

I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes - especially their soups when winter comes around!

This is a hidden gem that everyone should go to for lunch. Each time I go here I am helped by the nicest lady. She can answer any question you have and guide you to something you will like. I have had the super bowl which is half beef/half chicken. You can get the chicken half any level of spicy you want.

The prices are also great in relation to the food you get. I haven't gone wrong yet with eating here for lunch. Also, you don't have to wait long for your food either. The place seems to never be super busy but I think that is because it is hidden and not everyone knows it is there.

    Check it out!

Best place I have had sushi in Colorado to date.  Ceviche was wonderful as was the chef roll. A tad pricey, but worth it.

Nice little family run place. The staff is so nice and friendly. I recommend the beef bowl or the chicken katsu. Less recommend the chicken bowl, but everything I've had was good. Complimentary tea a plus. Good prices.

I work in the Tech Center and I'm always on the hunt for good, cheap eats.    Found one today!   YAY for me!!   I was headed to Lemongrass Grill (new place I went to yesterday), but saw this and thought I would check it out.   Yep - the other reviews have it pegged.   Go in, order at the counter (and it reminds me of a really cute place on CO Blvd near Yale)  (decorated as if I was in another county), sit down and they bring my food.  Not many folks in there, but my meal was tasty as could be - I got the veggie hot pot, spicy.   It came with the most beautiful tofu (I eat meat, but I love good tofu - I've even been to Japan (Kamakura) and gone to their tofu shops (similar to out cheese shops).  Very nice, traditional white rice accompanied it - both placed on my table with the traditional Japanese two-delicate handed placement.   I will be back !  Less that $7, too!  They also have about 100 hundred varied magazines and papers that a lone-luncher likes.

I went here while I was getting my oil changed. There were only a few people lunching (it was about 1 pm), so it was pretty quiet and mellow which I like.

I really had no idea what to order, and when I asked for help, the guy wasn't very helpful. The result was, what kind of meat do you want, what kind of rice? Was hoping for something a bit more exciting, but the shrimp on brown rice was good.

I didn't have to wait long for my meal to be brought out to me. After finishing (delicious), I sipped on a cup of their complimentary hot tea.

This place has good food, reasonable prices and a super mellow atmosphere. I probably could have spent the whole afternoon there just relaxing with some tea and something to read.

Had the vegetables in curry sauce and teriyaki chicken.  Both came with brown rice. My curried vegetables showed up and all that was in there was cabbage and one enny teeny weeny piece of carrot.   All that said it was so good.  The sauce was delicious and I can't wait to go back and get the curried cabbage and brown rice.  Watch next time it will have an assortment of vegies.  The teriyaki chicken must have been good as well as there was none left.

It is a simple little restauant hidden in a strip mall across from a liquor store.  This is my first review for this little treasure but trust me it will not be the last.  They have a container of tea always brewing and you just go help yourself.  Everyone is friendly.
.  Love the Yelp sign on the front door.

Very tasty, and very reasonably priced. We came specifically for udon, but got a ton katsu bento as well. Disagree with brian t, not the best miso I have had by far. The udon was good, though a little simple and a little fishy. All together still great quality for the price, I will definitely be back.

This unassuming place is a great place to get a rice bowl at a good price.  Go for the Super has grilled chcken and steak with veggies over rice.  What a great lunch spot!  The nice lady behind the counter is very proper, respectful, and nice.

Quality all around!  I've eaten here at least 20 times and it's always amazing and filling.

Beware of the spicy though, it really is spicy.  I love spicy food but get it on the side and mix it yourself.

    Mmmmm......that is a tasty bowl.

Sakura provides simple, quality Japanese fare in the form of rice bowls and bento boxes.  Too often we expect or demand sushi, which there is none here, at Japanese restaurants.  However there is so much more to Japanese food than sushi and places like Sakura remind me of this.

    Highlights for me:

Beef Bowl - favorite meal here and its quickly become a staple for lunch...love the cabbage under neath the meat.

Short rib (kalbi) Bento -.Sweet, soy based glaze on short ribs which have been sliced thing and left on the bone.  Good portion, good taste....quality of the meat could be a little higher (pleaseeeee).

Finally - I love the family run feeling and service here and will gladly come here over Tokyo Joe's again and again.

Sakura Bowl is tough to find but well worth it! Their house salad is incredible with the white miso dressing and is fabulous!  I get the beef bowl with white rice and get it spicy. They take the word "spicy" very seriously. You're food will be hot! It's a tad pricey but the food is amazing.  I go there all the time and is officially my favorite Asian restaurant. I highly recommend this place!!!

The reviews for this place are true. Its a great place to have some tasty dishes for lunch. I had spicy chicken and brown rice from here today (7.95 large) and it was very good. I plan to return.

Came to Sakura with coworkers. I had no idea it existed, only driven by it about 50 times! We showed up before the lunch rush but by noon the tiny dining room was practically full. I tried the miso soup; it was pretty good. I also had the chicken curry with brown rice. It was pretty good. I believe the brown rice was $1 more but I like that they give you the healthy option. Everyone's lunch looked really good too. Who doesn't like free tea?

Had a chicken teriyaki bento box. The miso soup was quite possibly the best miso soup I've ever had! The chicken teriyaki itself was average. I would probably go with the kal-bi box next time (what my lunch buddy had). The interior is very well decorated and clean. There's free hot tea available too!

Will be back to try out other lunch items!

Tokyo Joe's wishes it was this cool.  But Tokyo Joe's doesn't have a woman wearing a pink, plastic, anime apron running the cash register.

In addition to awesome Japanese lady that always hands me back my credit card with both hands, they also have the best Miso I've ever had.  I've never had a bad meal here.  If I want authentic and tasty japanese rice or noodle bowls, this is my spot.

As far as food quality goes, it's on par or better than Kokoro bowl, but without the surly service.

I love eating lunch and early dinner here. Food is authentic and plentiful. Only do not arrive right at opening time. Thus is a family run business and the opening hours are not exact. Opens at 11ish during lunch. Suggest getting there around 11:30ish to make sure they've opened.

    Delicious and nutritious.
As we all know, sometimes it's hard to find something quick and easy for lunch that's not deep fried and bad for you...and while you can still get deep fried if you wanted to, Sakura has some pretty delicious and healthy choices. My friend and I stumbled in to this restaurant accidentally as we were looking for a quick bite to eat while her oil was getting changed at the Grease Monkey next door. After glancing at the window advertising tofu and veggies I knew that my veg. friend would approve. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a wonderful smell as well as a kindly waitress. I ordered the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) over noddles and both were extremely delicious. The noodles are a thick udon variety and the veggie slaw they served provided a quick burst of texture. My friend had the shrimp and brown rice small portion which she immediately wolfed down and then was regretting that she didn't get the big portion. Yes, there was free tea which I didn't realize until I had already paid for a soda...I'd definitely save my money next time. We noticed that all of the other patrons were equally well taken care of and the large group of tie-clad businessmen next to us were even served an extra ice cream dessert by the waitress. The decor is quaint and very Asian, as well as the staff of two. Definitely a plus!

VERDICT: Mmmm, can't wait to go back!

The sign in the window reads "GOOD FOOD GOOD PRICE". While I agree with the former half of that advertisement, I can't say I got a really good deal on the food here. While there was nothing particularly bad about the food here (I must admit the gyoza were fried crispy and were especially tasty), my tofu bento just didn't seem to add up to a little over $9 for lunch. All of the food was pretty good, but it just seems overpriced to me for a lunch spot in an unassuming strip-mall.

Simply put, although the food here is probably better than a place like Tokyo Joe's, I think you can get a better bang for your buck at Joe's. That said, you can't get nice touches like free hot tea there...

Yummy! Hole in the wall. Great spice/heat! Good deal.

An old coworker brought me there the other day for a fabulous meal for little money!
You walk in and order from the gal at the register. Pretty simple menu, but don't let that fool you.

I went with the small, and it was huge. There is some cool coleslaw type stuff between your meat and your rice and dang if that isn't delicious!
The heat on my meal - spicy chicken on brown rice - woah! It started slow. I started to feel a bit flushed, then a bit more, then i was sweating!
Then the nose joined the party and it was off and running! I like that kind of heat!
And the flavor - really yummy!!

It was a great deal - $4, plus an extra dollar for brown rice, tea is included. Sweet!

You order at the register, get your tea and sit down, and then your food arrives right quick.

I was told that there was a recent management change, so if you didn't like it before, you might like it better now!

    I'll be back!!

I had lunch here the other day and really enjoyed it. I got the chicken noodle plate and the noodles were excellent.

The building was a little hard to find (no sign facing the street), but it's worth the search. There's not a lot of room to sit down inside, so if you have a large group you may want to just get your food to go.

Excellent prices and just the right amount of food. Small, family restaurant with a very quaint feel. I'll be going back for lunch often.

I think Sakura Bowl is an excellent addition to the DTC. It's a little difficult to find, but very worth it. The food is very good and the quality and value is excellent. I always get the bento bowls - a little over $10.00 for lunch, but you get so much. I like the terriyaki salmon or the tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet) and the veggies they serve are so delicious and sauteed perfectly. You also get miso soup, choice of rice, goyza and salad - in large size portions. They also serve Korean food, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The atmosphere is simple and it is located in the back side of a strip mall on Arapahoe Street, but the food is an excellent reason to visit again and again.

    My quick thoughts on Sakura:

    - Great value for your $$$$
    - Simple, no nonsense atmosphere.  Reminds me of simpler times
    - Their food is tasty.  I especially like their seafood hotpot

I'd rather come to Sakura for rice or noodle bowls than to  go to a crappy place like Tokyo Joes.

Just an old fashioned small, family owned, restaurant that keeps it simple.

Only reason why I did not give 5 stars is that they can be shorthanded during lunch time.
