I went here with 3 others for a Saturday evening dinner in old Roseville. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering. Business was beginning to pick up as we were seated. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.

We ordered the Katsu Chicken, Turkey Sammy, Teriyaki Pineapple Burger, and Beach Salad with Salmon. All of our food came at the same time, and within about 15 min. of placing our orders. Everyone pretty much cleared their plate and enjoyed their food. One minor complaint was that the salmon that was added to the salad was a bit smaller piece than expected. I had the Katsu Chicken, and I thought it was pretty good-nice and crunchy on the outside and moist inside. I kind of wish it came with more sauce though. I could have maybe requested a side of the sauce, but decided it was plenty good enough to eat without it. The rice was perfect (just white rice, but it was not at all mushy like other reviewers have noted), and I thought the cole slaw was good too.

We ordered two desserts as well-the Mango Cheesecake and the Brownie Sundae. The brownie sundae was excellent (kind of hard to go wrong with vanilla ice cream and brownie). The Cheesecake was good, but it was very sweet-almost too sweet for me. I'd probably just stick with the brownie sundae next time.

All in all, our experience was positive. Great service, good food, and a fun atmosphere. But because nothing was super spectacular, I'm only giving it 4 stars instead of 5. I think of this place as more of a bar with live music, with the restaurant aspect as kind of a side show. I think we got what we expected by coming to a place like this for dinner, and it was a nice change from the ordinary restaurant scene.

For starters, the atmosphere is open, clean and nicely decorated, but even though he owned the place, multiple enlarged pictures of Sammy Hagar seemed a bit much. The waitress was friendly, but she did make a few negative comments about previous customers, which I don't think is professional at all.

Now, the worst of it! The food was absolutely poor quality, to the point where my husband asked the manager to compensate one of the dishes that we ordered. We ordered the nachos and the seafood platter. To be honest, both were gross, but we didn't want to be that rude, so we paid for one of the plates. The nachos were covered in cold meat, and the chips were all soggy with old and over salted guacamole.

The waitress apologized for us and didn't take it personally. We were compensated for the plate and we left, vowing to never go back.

Came here for our anniversary.  Wasn't really sure what to expect.  We are not much of a formal restaurant couple, so I wasn't expecting the royal treatment.  We came on a Sunday evening, 5-6ish, place had 2-3 other party's there. The decor is definitely that of a bar and grill.  So spot on for that.  Server was really anxious to get us our drinks, and menus, then was on it to take our order.

I ordered the Kula Pork, and wife ordered a Chicken Cesar Salad, we had also ordered guacamole and chips for appetizer.

Lets start with the guacamole, kinda bland.  Once we got through the diced tomatoes, and onion, it was all bland.  Still, I am not one to pass judgment based on an appetizer.  Just a suggestion, mix some kind of spice in the guacamole.

On to our dinner order.  I will start with the Kula Pork.  The bbq sauce was good, but over bearing.  Too much of it.  I mixed the sauce into the plain white rice.  The pork itself, was eh.  Tender but fatty, and seemed to have no seasoning besides that of the bbq sauce.  The coleslaw, too was just kind of bland, tasteless.

Now for the wife's Cesar salad.  Big plate of romain lettuce, croutons, grilled chicken, and Cesar dressing.  Lettuce was browning, and some a bit slimy like it was delivered on Friday for the weekend, and we got the leftovers from that.  Chicken was cold, which i get, its a salad, but definitely seemed prepared/cooked that morning or the night before.  Wife wasn't too crazy about the croutons, but they just weren't her style, cannot really knock a restaurant for her tastes.   Wife tried to just separate the old lettuce and muster through the chicken, but just couldn't do it.  Had the waitress take her meal back and the manager made good on it.  Thank you for that.

Over all, I would say keep this place more of a night club atmosphere.  I might hit this place up if a band was there playing, but definitely not go there for just dinner or lunch.   Just hope the management and employees take this review as a learning experience and not as an attack, I do recognize that management made good on my wife's dinner.

We went Sunday 7/7 and should have know when we were one of 3 tables in the whole place. We ordered and it went down hill from there. My husbands meal was good but mine was a salad and it was brown and slimy lettuce through out. Only thing good for me was the cupcake drink. I had a real had time even looking at it. The guacamole was tasteless with no spice. I will only go for drinks when a band is there.

This place is not that great. The food is blah, the service sucks especially when its busy. From what I've heard from some of the employees, they treat them like garbage. If you want good food go anywhere else but Sammys.

Came early like 11am - first customers there. It was empty, on a Monday. Very clean restaurant. I heard it's poppin' on the weekends - Fri and Sat night live music. But since I hosted a Mommy Meetup here - a Monday lunch was just right to be here. They had these awesome $4 specials and guess what, parents?!?!?! Kids eat for free ALL DAY on Mondays!!! Can't beat that! Now my Mommy friends are planning another lunch there again this Monday! Hell yeah!!! Good food and even better, great prices!

I came here with my daughter, mom and step dad for my 29th birthday and the service was amazing. Our waitress was very sweet, she went out of her way to accommodate my four year old's crazy little wants and made sure every step of the way that we were satisfied. The atmosphere was very nice and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone hungry for great food and great service!

Terrible! I went there for lunch and ordered the 3 taco special. FIrst it took at least 30 minutes to get our lunch. Other people had come in 15 minutes after us and were being served before us. Then the tacos came and they were tiny and ice cold! The amount of fish in all 3 tacos was not enough to feed a hummingbird. I will never go back there again! AVOID THE TACO SPECIAL! And Sammy's! Hire people who can deliver the food when it is still HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby and his friends really liked Sammy's. My experience wasn't as I'd hoped it would be.  My spam loco moco tasted like it had been microwaved.  I might give it another try. Next time I hope to try the sushi!

SAMMY NEEDS TO VISIT AND SAMPLE THE FOOD

Ok...here we go. Starting with the food:

Guacamole and Chips app: bland and boring. 2 stars. Somebody please get the chef a decent guacamole recipe. There's a lot more to it than just grinding up an avocado and throwing some onions and tomatoes on top.  Wake up!

Lobster Bisque: more like lobster chowder, heavily salted, not very good. Left the bowl full on the table. 1 star. The chef who came up with this recipe should be fired.  Yes I said it: fired.  How can you live with yourself putting out such a crappy dish?

Kalua pork: Tropical BBQ sauce overpowered the dish and the actual pork was bland.  So bland pork covered by a heavy sauce does not work. Left it on the table.  1 star.

Cole slaw: bland.  I did not think it was possible to make bland cole slaw, but they did.  1 star.

White rice: mushy.  Really?  Mushy white rice?  Somebody's asleep in the kitchen.  1 star.

Cubano Sammy sandwich: so so.  Guys...season the meat for Christ's sake.  I ate half and left the other half. 2 stars.

Fries: amazing...best part of the meal.  4 stars.

The atmosphere was nice...music a tad too loud...4 stars.

The Staff: our server Tammy was great and very helpful.  5 stars.

So I have a total of 21 out of a possible 45 stars based on our meal and experience.  I don't believe in awarding half stars, so Sammy's gets two.

And I gotta tell you..I'm kinda bummed.  I'm a Sammy fan...even during the Van Hagar years I loved the guy and have always felt he was a very under rated performer.  I love Sammy's music.  Can't say much for the food though.

Sammy...email me so I can help you overhaul your menu.  Would you continue to play crappy music night after night?  Of course not.  You are Sammy Hagar.  So why do you let your restaurant serve crappy food night after night?

We went here for my mom's 52nd birthday, it was where she wanted to go!  Bad experience from the start.

After our group of 10 were seated we couldn't even get a server to make eye contact with us.  After patiently waiting at least 20 minutes, my brother went back up to the front and asked the hostess if anyone had been assigned to our section, we then got a waitress sent right to us who apologized for the "mix up".

The food was decent but extremely overpriced for the tiny portions they give you.  Our server rarely checked back with us and drink glasses were empty for the majority of the time.

After eating we had to play the waiting game once again just to get our bill and pay.  Another 10 minutes of sitting there twiddling our thumbs waiting for someone to pay attention to us.  And it was not busy in there, empty tables all around.

Needless to say everyone in our party agreed that we were never going back there and my mom apologized to everyone for picking the place for her birthday.

I gave it two stars because even tho the service was horrible and the food was way overpriced and tiny portioned, it was still pretty tasty.

Oh, and the entire place is decorated with pictures of Sammy.  In case you really enjoy feeling like a shirtless aging rockstar is watching you while you eat.

My gf and I ate here when we went down to the Food Truck festival in downtown Roseville. Why would we eat at this place if we were at a Food Truck festival? Great question! The lines were just too long and we wanted to sit on their patio and have a beer. They were nice and let us sit on the patio by asking another customer if we could have a table connected to theirs that was not actively being used.  Seemed like the menu was diverse with some authentic Hawaii favorites and the beer was good. I wouldnt write home about this place but I would come back.

Tried Sammy's for the first time Friday night. At first glance, it's a great space for parties - lots of TVs for watching sports, and a full stage for live music. And the menu looked promising with a combination of Hawaiian inspired fare, burgers, and bar appetizers. Seemingly something for everyone. That's where things started to fall apart, however.

For starters, the service was horrible. We were seated right away and given food menus, but no drink menus. After several minutes, a busboy came by and said he'd be right back with waters. Several more minutes go by, and a waitress shows up to ask if we're ready to order. We asked to see a drink menu, and as she was handing it to us, she asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. ??? We rushed a couple selections and she was on her way. Toward the end of the meal, she cleared our plates without asking if we were finished, despite food still on both plates.

Back to the food. We ordered an onion jam burger and a New York steak. I ordered the steak medium rare, but the waitress didn't ask about the burger. The burger itself was bland and tasteless with a color and consistency that seems as if it was previously frozen. The steak arrived grossly over cooked. Medium well in the middle, well done at the ends. Borderline inedible.

For now it gets two stars based on the space itself, which was nice, and the possibility that the rest of the menu might be better.

What a perfect place for a rock n roll party! Was there last night for my brother-in-law's 50th, and had a blast. Delicious and fresh food, friendly and responsive wait staff, loud, raucous, fun music.  It's a great place for food, fun and music.  Bring the kids....but bring ear plugs if you think it's too loud.

This was our second visit and I was a little apprehensive about coming here due to the Yelp ratings. We came here about a month after their grand opening and agreed that they had a lot of glitches in their food and service. Based on that, I was leaning towards those low ratings.

We have been pleasantly surprised on a number of Yelp ratings, good or bad, it is all based on your own opinion. This place is one of those places we were pleased with despite the low ratings.

On this night, we came and were seated in about ten minutes. The place was crowded with people attending a concert by "The Tone Monkeys," a cover band who plays pretty much all genre of music from the 80's -90's. There was a $10 cover charge at the door but we were there for dinner, so no fees.

We requested to be seated outside in this beautiful, spring California evening. I ordered the Moco Loco (Jasmine rice topped with a hamburger patty covered with brown gravy and a sunny side egg on top. Island style! Hubby ordered the Sammy's Cubano, pulled pork sandwich with slices of ham, cheese and pickles. OMG, that, is the ticket to a great sandwich! The hoagie was toasted perfectly and it was chewy, sweet and tangy, perfect!  Hubby's sandwich was so good in fact that, I lost interest in my Moco Loco.

In my observation, they have improved on their service but feel that there is a lack of versatility in their menu choices. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that there isn't a whole lot to choose from.

Looks like a fun bar to hang out in, but the restaurant could still use some work.

We stopped in for lunch. Lots of interesting items, but prices were fairly high for what we were getting. The mac and cheese, for example, was $14 and was surprisingly small. Barely a cup. It came with grapes on the side... I guess that's what they do on islands? Garlic bread would have been more satisfying, but it was pretty good nonetheless. Potato chips came on the table, which was appreciated since I was still hungry after the tiny meal.

The servers seemed to struggle a little, which is probably just because the place is fairly new, but it was noticed. After a terrible experience at a Sammy's in an airport a few months ago, I was hoping this location would redeem the Red Rocker in my eyes, but I'd say they still have some work to do.

Of course, I wasn't there for any live music or partying, so a nighttime review could be very different. I'd certainly return to check that out.

    3.5 starts really.

This place needs some customers...go out and give it a try when you are in the Downtown Roseville area. These people invested into the downtown smaller area and we should support them!!

The place is very well done for decor and looks....the staff is nice and the food I thought was perfectly good.

Try the live band night its really a fun place to be with friends to hang out, dance, have a drink and grab some food.

This is a great place. Live music sometimes with a nicely designed space so most people can see while they're eating. The seating was a little slow (we could see a dozen empty tables, and once seated we saw a dozen more, so I'm not sure why we had to wait so long).

Other than that, the service was excellent and friendly. The menu has some interesting things. I need to go back to try more options. I like that they give you real potato chips instead of corn chips. Love corn chips, but this is a nice change of pace.

About what you should expect from a themed restaurant.  I was surprised by the lack of good Tequila though. Food quality low, prices high and service so so.

I was shoved by a worker! Yes, SHOVED!

I was walking behind my girlfriend after we finished dinner, when I felt somebody shove me from behind. I quickly turned around and was told "get out of my way, I work here". The worker then started to argue with me about why he was justified to shove me. I would expect this from a dance club, but never, in my life, would I have expected this from a restaurant that one of my long time idols owns. Wait... Sammy Hagar doesn't even own this place. It's owned by "Innova Restaurant Concepts LLC".

The fake memorabilia on the wall were tacky. I work in the music industry, and have several RIAA gold/platinum awards, and none of the awards that are hanging in this restaurant are RIAA certified gold/platinum records, just cheap fakes that were probably made at some local trophy shop.

The food was pretty much as most people described it in prior reviews. I had the Moco Loco, and was very underwhelmed and under-fed. I was still hungry and had to order another item... The chicken nachos. The nachos weren't any better than the ones that you can order from Del Taco, for much less money. My girlfriend ordered the lobster Mac & Cheese. She complained that the dish was salty and the lobster was chewy. We both woke up this morning with stomach aches.

The band was excellent, but after being shoved by an employee, I'll never set foot in this place again.

My husband and I were hesitant to dine here based on so many negative reviews, but decided to at least try it out. I'm so glad we did! We waited about five minutes for a table and were apologized to profusely by at least three different people. Our waiter, Kevin, was attentive and friendly, knew his way around the menu, and was a pleasure to be served by.

We ordered the chef's choice from the raw bar and found the scallops and ahi fresh and delicious. We also ordered the Opah butter lettuce wraps, which were amazing! My husband, a Hawaii native, was hesitant to order anything he could regularly get back "home," because he automatically assumes that no "haole" restaurant can compare to the hole in the walls he's used to eating at, but decided to try the loco moco.  He was pleasantly surprised that not only was it edible, but he really enjoyed it! I ordered the Beach Burger, medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly and delicious! For dessert, we couldn't decide between the Lilikoi Mango cheesecake and the salted caramel bread pudding, so we decided to order both and bring home the extras for our children. They were both absolutely incredible and our poor children ended up with nothing because we finished them both.

The band for the night was setting up to play while we were there, but that's not really our scene, so we left before the party really got started. It seemed like it was going to be a good night, though!

The prices were a little high and I hate to give it four stars for that because it won't keep us from going back, but it will keep it from being our "go to" place.

First, as I've said elsewhere, I try to judge restaurants on how they present themselves and how good a job they do in executing that image.

Second, we regularly go to Hawaii and love pacific rim cuisine. Oh, and for fast food hawaiian we go to L & Ls.

So if what you are looking for is a bar with live bands on the weekends and a name brand, then Sammy's maybe for you.

We aren't interested in live bands and nosy crowds, but we are interested in island food and so went on a weeknight. The restaurant is nicely laid out, clean, and sharp. It brings a great environment to Vernon Street.

Keep in mind that the food is Island style, not Hawaiian. We started with the Spam Musubi appetizer. It was pretty good and I especially liked the fact there was a balance between the amount of meat and rice. (Generally there is two to three times as much rice as Span so this was an improvement.)

I ordered the Katsu Chicken, my wife ordered the Kulua Pork, and we ordered the Fried Rice. The Katsu was okay. The chicken was a bit thick for Katsu and was therefore a bit dry. The quantity was good.

The Pork was a large piece rather than the traditional shredded. Parts of it were a bit dry but over all it was cooked well. It was milder in flavor than expected but at the same time it was less salty which was a good flavor profile. Both dishes, as leftovers, reheated okay. We both liked the slaw as different and flavorful.

The dish we both disliked was the fried rice. It had an underlying flavor which, for us, was actually unpleasant. I believe it was a product of the way it was seasoned.

All and all, I'll probably go back again to try the crudo bar. But as for the kitchen food, while it is was okay it's not good enough to bring me back.

I'll do an update when I get around to going back for the raw seafood.

I really hope the staff takes into considering these yelp reviews. Downtown Roseville needs this restaurant to be excellent. Like so many others, I really wanted to love this place. Drinks were pricey and just ok, food was pricey and just ok. Nothing here to bring you back in my opinion. Had a great server, which was nice.
The menu does look good however the food doesn't live up to the description.
The lobster bisque was salty, moco loco was a bit bland, other people in our party had burgers and said they weren't anything special.
I say try it out, make suggestions and let's hope they can pull it together over there and bring some life to downtown!

So disappointed. Really wanted to love this place as I have had a thang for Sammy since I was a youngster!

The location and ambience are fantastic. The drinks are really good!  The staff is attentive and friendly. The food:  blah. Very bland. And really not enough choices.

I'll probably head back for drinks again.

Sammy...call chef Ramsey to help you out with the chow!

I've had way better island (hawaiian) food at L&L at a much better price.  L&L is Hawaiian fast food and serves some of the same food as Sammy's but at a much lower price.  Sammy's food was unimaginative and costs too much.  A spam musubi for $5, moco loco for $10..  Wow!

Service was ok but the food was very ordinary.

    Where do i start,
My wife and I ordered the chips and guacamole, the chips were cold and the guacamole fair.
My wife ordered the chicken ,rice pilaf and string beans  she said the chicken was OK and the rice OK and the beans were under cooked. I ordered the steak, rice pilaf  and string beans, steak was rare like i like ,but they served me white rice because they ran out of rice pilaf, not only that the rice and the beans were cold and the plate they served the food on was  cold. My wife and I had coffee at the end of the dinner and charged $2.75 for each coffee and asked for a refill and waiter tried to charge us $2.75  for each refill and I told the waiter that I refuse to pay for refills on coffee.
Bottom line food sucks , service sucks.
A plus in the evening, atmosphere was great, live band was awesome I will give Sammy one star for that.

    Sammy ,
Did you forget what is was like to be a regular guy with a regular job that works hard for few bucks a year and only gets to out and eats at a restaurant twice a month, hey bro i don't mind paying for a good meal and good service but come on BRO! lets get REAL!

Then it was cold cheap frozen fries with a spoon ful of garlic dropped in one spot! Drinks werent any better. Bartenders seemed toNever check back in on you and the waitresses who would come up To Get stuff never oh excuse me or anything they'd  just reach across you... So rude! I was so Excited about this place to be immediately dissapointed they'd spent no Time hiring good staff or management to Run the place! Last I Checked good servers brought more continuous  business in this area not looks. If they don't do a major change this place will
Be gone in a year. And that's too
Bad cause Roseville needed it, but we didn't need crap for food or service!

The Front Desk - I arrived before the rest of my party and was seated in the upstairs dining area. I described the rest of my party to the hostess and let her know when to expect their arrival. It didn't seem to make a difference, since she seated my party at another table. Hostess staff was polite, but not trained well.

The Happy Hour - Happy Hour was not explained to me until after I was seated. After finally getting a server to my table, I was told that I would have to go to the bar to order. "Happy Hour is not offered in the dining area." Ok, no big deal, but I would have appreciated the explanation before being seated. I asked for a menu, which showed only food specials, no drinks. My server didn't know which drinks were discounted. I figured it was not worth getting up for, so skipped the "Happy Hour."

The Service - My server was polite, but there was nothing that stood out about the wait staff. Another server saw that I had been waiting excessively and stopped by to offer assistance, good job. Wish I had been in his section, because my server didn't  know much about the menu. She told me which items she liked, but couldn't describe anything. Couldn't even pronounce several ingredients and she kept making trips to the kitchen to ask about them.  When food was brought out, she made two trips. I would recommend serving trays or get some help running food and always serve ladies first.

The Food - I could tell it just wasn't my night at this place. My party's food looked great and there were no complaints from them. I ordered a hamburger with pineapple and teriyaki. The hamburger patty was great, but the bun was soggy with teriyaki sauce and pineapple was very thin. One leaf of lettuce and that was it. I am all about simplicity, but please consider proportions. With a half pound patty I would expect a thicker cut of pineapple. If you drown the whole thing in sauce, of course the bun will be soggy. I ate less than half before my disappointment got the best of me. I will say that the food was timely, so no complaints there. As mentioned, the rest of my party's food looked great which included the Katsu Chicken, Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder.

The Dessert - Couldn't say?! Sounds outrageous that I would eat out without ordering dessert, but I couldn't sit through another disappointment. Dessert was offered, but not explained. Most servers would offer a dessert for ones birthday (we had a birthday at the table), but not at Sammy's. A simple "Happy Birthday," from our server would have to suffice.

The Atmosphere - I think that right now the atmosphere is the only thing this place has going for it. Sammy's location and layout caters to a nightlife. From the patio seating to the upstairs dining area and bar, everything looks great and has a warm, fun and open atmosphere. There is a stage in the center of the restaurant for live performances. Hat's off to Sammy's for giving a venue like this a shot in Roseville. I hope the locals welcome this type of dining atmosphere. Max's failed at the Galleria and Town Lounge failed at Lead Hill and Eureka. I would like to see more places with live music.

The Overall Experience - I have a hard time writing a bad review, since I worked in the service industry for many years myself, but I wasn't pleased with Sammy's. Where was the management this entire time? The staff can't be blamed for bad service, or should I say bad training? There seem to be some other great reviews of Sammy's, so I may try again... maybe I was just having one of those nights. I hope my next visit won't be my last.

We watched anxiously as the remodeling went on at Sammy's Rocklin Island Bar & Grill.  Couldn't hardly wait for the restaurant to open...just what old Roseville needs, a happening place.   Well it's not!  though friendly, the service is painfully slow.

The menu is limited...which is fine if the food is 'special' or 'unique' which it is not...The food is not bad, but it's not great...I ordered a plain hamburger with fries.   I asked for the hamburger with grilled onions...it came with regular slice onions and a slice of tomato and ONE lettuce leaf...(really I've had better at In & Out Burger).  My husbands order was completely wrong...and we were overcharged to boot.

We brought this to the attention of the Manager who said he would credit our Visa for the amount overcharged...his attitude was that he was slightly 'put-out'.  Then to add insult to injury, he did not credit our account for the overcharge.

Will we be back?  No don't think so... its sad to to think that the Owners and Managers put all this money into the decorations, lights, sound equipment etc.  but forgot the most important elements....SERVICE AND GOOD FOOD!

We ate at Sammy's on Friday after the Sacramento Bee review of the restaurant.  It was O.K., but could be better.  They don't take reservations, so it's a roll of the dice on seating.  When seating us the hostess walked us past some open tables and sat us upstairs at a very small bistro type table - we declined that seat and ended up sitting outside in the front.  The weather was nice so it was a nice experience - not so much in the winter, me thinks.

Service was slow, and the food coming out of the kitchen was slow.  Drink orders were slow, and getting the check was slow.  For a "what's happening" place, everything is slow.  It seemed the wait staff was a little harried and that Sammy's would have "up staffed" after the Bee review - but what do I know?

The food was very good.  We had spam appetizers - excellent!  Loco Moco - excellent.  The pulled pork Cuban sandwich was "okay," not great.

The ambiance is clever with the colors, outside seating, bar seating, and upstairs seating.

I know everything moves a little slower in Hawaii, but Sammy's needs to kick it up a notch with regard to service and speed of service.  Hawaiian slowness is one thing they don't need to copy.

We will give it another try with friends.

I was so excited to hear a place like this was coming to the sleepy town of Roseville and we were going to possibly be known for something other than the Galleria.

My BF and I along with my BF's sister and niece gave this place a try this past Friday night.  I went in there half expecting poor service due to the Yelp reviews I read beforehand.  We got there around 5:30ish in order to get a table since we didn't know how busy it'd be and didn't want to not get seated.  My BF and I ordered a couple sodas, and he ordered a tall Blue Moon.  We ordered edamame as an appetizer while we waited for his sister and niece to arrive.  The menu said the edamame had brine sea salt on it, which they didn't.  Thank goodness for a salt shaker!

I ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich which wasn't bad, but kind of on the dry side (it needed salsa or something).  The french fries were very good though :)  My BF ordered Sammy's Loco Moco which he said was bland.  In my opinion, anyone who orders a dish made with SPAM shouldn't expect much else (bleh!) and his sister ordered the lobster mac and cheese ($14 for what I would consider a small bowl).

The service was very slow and I was expecting a more "rock and roll vibe" than what it had to offer.  The food took a long time to come out and several times, we had other servers walk by with another tables orders asking if we had ordered what they were trying to drop off.  They were very mixed up as to which table ordered what.  The prices were on the higher end side, but that's to be expected with a theme restaurant like that.

I'd go back, but not in a huge hurry.

Went there for lunch today with my daughter.  She had the burger with the onion straws on it, I ordered the nachos with chicken.  Her burger was fantastic.  My nachos were less than fantastic.  They weren't very warm and the cheese was different than what was described on the menu.  It was supposed to be mozzarella and I got prepackaged cheddar that wasn't melted.  I really liked the avocado sauce and the black bean puree.  But the dish in totality was a miss.  I love the vibe of this place and hope it survives.  Such a great addition to downtown Roseville.  I want to go back but I'm pretty sure I will only order a burger.

Change of menu would really be a good idea.  It's very limited, at least what I saw for lunch.

Good luck Sammy and crew - would really like you to stay here!!

My first impression was where did all the millions spent on this piece of property go? Nothing was done to upgrade the sidewalk and entry way. The restaurant has no warmth, little charm and it appears as if Sammy had some left over photos that are sparsely nailed up on a few walls in the place.

The place has no flow there's a make shift stage located right in the middle of the narrowest section of the restaurent. There's 4 unviewable large screen TV's curiously located 20 feet high on a wall.

The menu is a limited quasi-Hawaiian Island fare that unless there's a large Island community nearby will play out quickly.

Bottom line is the place has no "WOW" factor and will be a big disappoint for folks looking for a unique old town dining experience.

This is the first time Sammy has ever dissapointed. me. I am still a fan of the Rocker but NOT the business!! CMON SAM!!! you can do better than that!

Food was an hour late, and they got the order incorrectly to boot!  (we were treated to a cold set of onion rings when the bartender discovered the kitchen had forgotton or first order). Oh yum! Thanks for the cold gut-bomb afterthought,

I came here with my best friend for his birthday, I am from Oahu, so I know what island style is. This is NOT it braddah Sam!

It's more of a trendy Waikiki -esque faux island style. Skip it and go to L&L AND SAVE YOUR $$ if ya want island food.  Then go buy a bottle of Sammy's rum for $19 at Bevmo and have a MUCH better time! That's what we did.

Staff was horrible and we never got a mention or apology from the "Manager". Do they have one?

They did give us the food for free....as we were leaving when it showed up at the table incorrectly...... I fed it to the dogs when I got home....... it was that bad.

Wait staff ignored us completely for 30 min. About 8 of them walked by. Had to pretty much stand up and flag down someone to get our order. I am a big Cabo Wabo fan, ordered a margarita figuring it has to be good at Sammy's place.... NO!  Horrible $10 tiny drink that tasted like mixer only and packed with ice in a small martini glass. Came to see a band, but the waitress cashed us out at first drink without even asking us.

The place is lit up like a football stadium so the ambiance sucked. Again, as a Sammy and Cabo Wabo cantina fan, expected a much better experience. Doubt that I will return. Worst service and drinks that you can imagine.

As you enter, you are greeted with a smile by the hostess. First impressions...wow! Very large, laid out place. Two levels.  Teal & Orange walls with surfboard shaped tables blend island cool with rocker style.  Custom designed guitars hang above the bar and the staff is friendly and smiling.

We chose to sit upstairs and had a nice view of the train yard. I had the Onion Jam burger and hubby had the Loco Moco. Both were good, although they didn't put the correct cheese on my burger..but hey! It's only the first week...there's going to be a few issues. Our server seemed a little unsure of himself, but he tried really hard so that gets two thumbs up from me.

The vibe in there was really great. A mixture of aging rockers (that's me...sigh) and young folks looking for a good time. Everyone was really friendly  and just plain nice. The music was a good mix of 70's, 80's and hard rock, but the volume wasn't so deafening you couldn't hold a conversation and that was greatly appreciated! A live band was setting up as we left...I can't wait to hear them next time.

We bought two t-shirts ($15 each) and would definitely go back.
