So we're out at this club dancing and I go up to the DJ to get a shout out for our group. The guy totally tousled my hair and makes me feel like a douche then another guy comes up and is like "hey if he's not accepting requests just move on." I felt like it was inappropriate that he was touching me, so I talked to a manager. The guy was nice and gave me a free drink but it was a buzzkill. The music was good enough but the crowd was sparse. Pretty disappointing overall.

    Line:
Never had to wait. Depends on time you arrive and whose performing. Also if you do VIP or know security.

    Cover:
    Sometimes

    Dress:
They say they have a dress code but selectively enforce it. Nor do they have a standard for what casual is. It seems like if they aren't at maximum capacity they'll accept you in whatever. From observation, I think t-shirt with legs covered on guys and girls can wear thong/pasties with sheer overlay.

    Security:
From what I have seen, security is pretty on top of stuff. If a fist is thrown the party is instantly thrown out.

BUT, what I find a concerning is when a passive person is forcibly pushed, be it in open space or against a wall and injured, nothing is done to the aggressor. Security stays completely out of it.

I feel very unsafe in a place that allows hostile, aggressive, as well as dangerous behavior to be accepted. It's this behavior that leads to fist fights, yet they allow these people to stay.

If you know security or a bartender, you are taken care of and get free very stiff drinks (at least from the group I observed for 20 minutes). I had to wait for their social hour to end before any drink order or bill could be procured.

    Waitstaff:
The waitresses when I went were barely dressed and acceptable to look at. I did hear one girl complaining about a customers tip still, and she had clothing tag sticking out of the back of the top. Small detail that should just be cut off, its like a price tag just hanging there. That girl also had love handles when compared to the other girls.

    Bottle service/ booth:
If you can afford it, do it. You have you own space to avoid falling drunks and unwanted attention. You don't have to fight for space.

    Dance floor:
    Small.

I just performed a hypnosis show at the Savoy. What an outstanding club. Three levels Set in a historic building. Each level has is own bar, So it was very quick to get a drink, and high-class seating in different areas for people to chill. The stage that I performed my hypnosis show on was very nicely built for performers. The DJ came out to play after. And I must say this sound in the building sounded great the matter where you walked. I've been to a lot of clothes this was very good. The staff was fun and I even had a chance to meet the owner very cool guy. I'll definitely be stopping in next time I go through Santa Barbara.

This place is pretty cool. The venue is awesome and historical looking. I hear their New Years Eve party was poppin.

The Bella-donnas are doing a burlesque dancing show on Feb 16 for a Valentines Day gig. Should be cool.

Had such a great time here!

Every time I'm on my way to Los Angeles I stop in Santa Barbara and grab drinks with old friends. This time we decided to mix things up and do some dancing. The music was on point!!! There are 3 levels, the 3rd level feels like a completely separate bar/club. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't overly crowded, and the quality of people was relatively decent (compared to places like Eos).

Had so much fun! Highly recommend. Girls are free and guys are only $5!  Definitely worth it if you love to dance and are with a large group of friends looking for a good time.

Best music I've heard in a club in a while. But I always love throw-backs.

Came here again on saturday night. free for girls, $5 cover for guys. There are 2 levels, with a bar on each level. 1st floor is the dance floor 2 floor is for vip and where the restroom is. Most of the vip was empty and the bouncers didnt bother us about sitting there like they do in Hollywood. Overall it was a chill atmosphere with good music. Mostly hip hop and r&b music. I didnt go to the bar, because I had already been drinking. Since the music was good, I wouldnt mind going back!

Savoy is a great place to go to if you're looking to go out downtown SB.  It is one of only a handful of venues downtown that has it all.  It has three floors, with a bar on every one.  It's a great place to go to dance, but if you want a more mellow scene, you can also go upstairs where there is more of a lounge area.  I definitely recommend checking this place out!

I got bottle service at Savoy for my 22 birthday through a promoter named Emily. It was a great night and Emily really set us up! We had a table right next to the dance floor so we were had our own spot but weren't secluded away from all the action. It was a great night! and Emily was super attentive both before and after. Also a big thanks to Titus who was the one to actually escort us to the table and tend to us throughout the night. Savoy is great for special events like this!

Savoy night club is the one of the top clubs in Santa Barbara if not the only one that has good music, good people and great drinks and entertainment. They also provide an amazing brunch on Sundays that is worth checking out.

The $5 cover charge seemed a little unnecessary for this place, but we paid anyways and went inside.  The music was great - They had some guy doing a DJ set on the main floor, but it was a little too loud to hear what anyone was saying.  Drinks were good, nothing special.  We went upstairs in hopes that we could find a loungey place to hang out and chat, but we instead stumbled into a hip-hop room.  Music was from the 90's and early 2000's, and it sounded like it was being played off of someone's iPod.  What I didn't understand about this place was that there were tables on every floor for bottle service.   Again, a little excessive and off-putting.  I'll stick with my clubs in LA and SD...

Overrated. There are 3 floors (I've been on all 3)
    1. Dance floor and bar. The music is just okay/crowd is alright, mediocre imo. If you go with a large group this an make up for it b/c the venue is nicer than most n DT SB.
    2. Bar and Restrooms. Not much to do here, better to be up or down!
    3. VIP w/ bottle service. Isolated and not too crowded and good if you just want to talk with good friends and not necessarily meet a ton of new people.

The music was great here! awesome DJ, but the people at the club didnt seem to enjoy it much. there wasnt a lot of dancing, the drinks were very average and it was super crowded. the layout was cool...this place can easily be a top notch club, but its lacking the polish. a lot of potential here and i can see it being good, maybe we went on a night where it was just decent.

Went to Savoy on Friday night for my friend's bachelorette party and the music and vibe were on point.  We enjoyed a couple *very strong* drinks here.  The crowd was a little young and weird the night we went, but the lounge is very nice.  Still had a fun night!

I love Savoy! Its classy but you wont find the desperate cougars that Eos seems to be full of. Here I can drink/dance but when I need a break I just move up to another floor. The top floor is always pretty chill and this place has so many bars to order from I have never had a hard time getting a drink. The security guys are great and the photographer that comes through, Christian Harris, will make sure you look good or he wont put the pics up so let loose and have fun!

The guy at the door said the cover charge was $5. We heard after our group it was going to be $15. We get to the register. The lady stated $10. My friend explained to her that she was quoted 5. She rudely replied "it is 10 bucks do u want me to charge $15 bc I can?" REALLY!!!!

This club is poppin all the time. Long lines but worth it since the awesome Djs, cool theme set ups, hot babes, and insane dance floor. Yes it's crowded down on the first floor but go on up to the third for a more mellow atmosphere. Bouncers are all dressed classy as fuck. Servers are gorgeous. Can't help but have fun here and with how big the crowd is I think many fellow barbarians must agree. Check out the sunday morning brunch its delicious and not many people know about it.

We had a great time at Savoy, we arranged to do bottle service with Jordin for a Bachelorette and she was extremely helpful. We had a great table up in the front, and they set up the area very adorably with decorations. It was a lot of fun, and everyone was accomodating. I appreciated the extra bottle of champagne they provided for the night. Music was great. Combination of Top 40 and House. We loved it!
As out of towners, we would definitely go back!

I was not too impressed. First off, the cover is ridiculous, I have gone here a few times and the line is long, snobby people fill all three floors, and usually its 10-20 $ to enter. The do have a nice space in that there are several bars throughout each floor, as well as each floor exudes a different atmosphere and mood. Not my kind of scene.

My girlfriends and I were in Santa Barbara to celebrate a bachelorette weekend, and Savoy was one of the places we ended up during our nighttime adventures. Although the bottle service/VIP was very expensive, Evan, one of the employees working at the door, was extremely nice to our group, and even though we forewent purchasing VIP, he made sure we all got great deals on our drinks. As far as atmosphere goes, it's a very classy lounge with a spacey dance floor, and the music was perfect (pop/house). Definitely would recommend it for a slightly classier night out than a standard night at a sports bar.

Probably most popular club on state street.

I walked in here frequently on my stay in SB. Always packed and the ratio from females to males is what i think in the mens favor :o) awesome of course.  Besides the litte floozies walking around getting drunk off there vodka and fruit punches, the bartenders seemed nice. Always being fair in my eyes with the way they take drink orders. The DJ at times kinda freaked me out with some of the music he played. No big deal though, he picks up in the later hours.

There are 3 floors to Savory. 1st floor (main floor) dance floor and bar, with good view of whos strolling in. 2nd floor over looks the main floor and also has a bar. 3rd floor is bottle service and private parties only. Unless your a badass like myself.

Probably the worst club I've been to. My friends and myself have never been so disrespected by the bodyguards. The staff was incredibly unprofessional, including calling one of my friends a vulgar term as well as swearing to us. They completely ruin the night for us, resulting in making one of my friends cry. Needless to say, I will never go back again. They should employ security personal who know how to be respectful towards their customers.

I came to this place on a Wednesday night to see some live electronic music.  The show was sold out, and it was really cool to see people on all three levels of the venue.  It's a great place to dance and mingle, and the back patio was a nice smoking lounge, so that people don't have to go back and forth through the front entrance.  The sound system was awesome, and I actually posted up and watched the sound guy run the board from the second floor for a little while- he knew what he was doing.  Overall, I thought it was a great venue, and I hear they have burlesque shows there as well..

It might be the college reverie talking, but I spent many a good drunken night dancing up a storm at Q's.  I was pretty bummed when it closed down because it felt like the end of an era, but when the joint re-opened as The swankalicious Savoy I was all sorts of intrigued.

I'd heard rumors of a burlesque show, but there definitely was not one when I was there. So, maybe I'd have to come back on a different night to get that sort of treatment? Anyhow - I love the multiple levels and different vibes - the downstairs dance floor is great for bumping and grinding (mostly just bumping though, it's a tad on the smaller side), and as you move up floors you'll find ample seating in booths and lounge chairs paired perfectly with a view of the dance floor.

It's a great place to come with friends to grab a drink or two, but it's typically just one of our many stops on the State St bar crawl; or as we in Santa Barbara like to call it - Thursday.

I gotta admit, I was a bit skeptical about this place when it first opened but the transition they have made to a true nightclub has been well done.  I enjoy coming here and just hanging out on the 3rd floor (where it's typically a bit quieter than downstairs).  This is one of the big benefits of The Savoy.  You can be downstairs where it's fast paced dance music, then when you want a little break make your way upstairs where it's typically a bit quieter.  It's nice to see lower state street making a comeback and The Savoy has played a big part in this.

This place is pretty cool. I came back to visit the alma-mater (UCSB) two weekends ago to watch some soccer games with my girlfriend and when I learned that Q's closed and this place opened, I wanted to check it out. We were told that we had to spend $35 a person if I reserved a table, which I didn't mind since I figured we would spend that much anyway. The place does look expensive.

Once I got there, the waitress was really friendly and was attentive early on in the night. As it got more and more crowded it became harder to get a hold of her. I don't blame her though, it didn't seem like there were enough staff to serve all the tables and the bigger groups of parties comfortably. However we started getting served by the owner. I chatted him up a bit. The guy seemed nice.

I got the Sazerac, not my most favorite version I've had, but it wasn't bad. My girlfriend got some crazy cocktail called "Some Like It Hot"; she loved it. Food wise, the cheese plate was amazing, as was the Mac n Cheese. However this place isn't a dinner place. No entrees, only small plates. I was really bummed they didn't have the sliders, especially since it was early in the night. I don't understand how you can have a small menu and not have everything in it. They didn't have two or three plates that night, so  that was a bit disappointing.

As the show goes, it was really good. The DJ was great, the singer was very talented, and the dancers were fun to watch.

I'd probably go again, but just sit in the bar. Don't think $35/person for tables is really all the worth it. And I hope the owner works better at having all his dishes available, especially on a Saturday night.

I don't even know where to start really. My recommendation: Don't depend on this place to deliver and certainly don't book any reserved seating where you have to spend a certain amount of money. You'll want to leave and they'll get that money in the end.

What happened: I booked some tables here for a bachelorette party. We had a dozen girls and this placed looked very promising. We were excited by the promise of a show and reserved seating. I was told the show would start at 9:00 while another girl was told it'd start at 9:30. Since I didn't want to miss anything, I rushed our group from dinner to get there in time. When we got there around 9:00 the place looked almost completely empty, certainly not as if a show was going to start. Since they advertise "Cirque Soul" on their website for Saturdays, I was excited. I asked our server when the show would start and she told me 10:30. Not too happy about spending the next hour and half doing nothing (since they weren't playing anything you could possibly dance to and no one was there) we decided to wait it out - they had our credit card afterall and they were going to charge us no matter what.

I went down to talk to someone about possibly getting the bachelorette up on stage. I was then told that not only would the show start at 10:30 but it would be "one or two go-go dancers." Go-go dancers?! After all the rave reviews, I was severely disappointed by this. Not only that but they were "hoping to get an aerial performer." I don't know how many places try to book their entertainment minutes before the show is supposed to start but of course in the end there was no aerial performance.

After a couple of hours and some talking with the manager (ok, more like complaining) the DJ finally started playing music that people could - and did - dance to. I wouldn't have minded strolling into this place around midnight, but certainly would never again reserve tables or get here early with the promise of some sort of entertainment. In the end, it was an empty dance club with a nicer interior than the old Q's. The one positive about this place: lots of room to dance (since no one else was there)!

I feel completely misled and frankly, swindled out of hundreds of dollars. Don't go here for what it's advertising itself to be. But if you can get in for free at the end of the night, it may be worth it just for the seating alone.

This place is pretty cool - not your typical State Street bar.  There are three floors - and the theme is burlesque/cabaret.  On the first floor stage they have Aerial performers and burlesque dancers (at least they did the Saturday I was there).  Second floor is a balcony with bars that overlook the first floor.  Third floor was a large open room with another bar and comfy couches.  In addition to a full bar - they have great "mixologist" cocktails.  The "Some Like it Hot" is awesome - the perfect blend of sweet and spicy.  Definitely worth checking this place out if you're going  out on State St.

I had pretty high hopes for a large and enthusiastic crowd for a Friday night burlesque show but was pretty disappointed to see all of about 30 people in the bar area downstairs at midnight.

The show itself was pretty cool though. There was a DJ on stage and every ten minutes or so, a guy would come on stage and start playing his trumpet along with the DJ's music. It sounds weird but it was pretty interesting to hear dance music and a trumpeter together.  It had a really cool vibe to it.

The dancers were so-so. Most performances seemed to be pretty short, but the closer was talented and closed the show with some intensity.
All in all, better than the standard club scene with a bunch of jersey shore d-bags running all over the place.

I went here last night for their weekly Thursday night blues show with the Alastair Green band.  This was the third time I've been in here for live music in the past two months and I've NEVER had to pay a cover charge.  I've never come in on a Friday or Saturday (I usually avoid downtown those nights), so I'm sure that's a different story.

I think this is a great venue for live music; the stage is just the right size for three of four musicians, the lighting is impeccable, there's a good-sized bar, plenty of table/booths, and a dance floor, but it's still an intimate venue and on Thursdays it's never that crowded.  My fellow blues fans all seem to be in the 40-to-55 age bracket, but I've never felt uncomfortable as the "youngster" in the crowd.  The music goes from 9p to midnight (with a couple of breaks), but most of the crowd seems to melt away by eleven.

I haven't tried any of their food, but I did check out the menu; it looks like they're just doing trendy-tapas type dishes rather than full meals.  Liquor is reasonably priced and decently poured, but the beer--bottles only--is a little pricy at $6.50.  Can't really complain though when you're listening to live music downtown without a cover charge. . .don't forget to tip the band!

Cirque de sole meets bar scene and other crazy weirdness = The Savoy!

We were in town for a bachelorette party, and we decided to check out this place for some fun. When we arrived the deal to get a table was the best idea for table service that I have ever heard of, here's the deal: get a table and spend a minimum of $100 PERFECT!!! Premiere seating for the show and only  $100 more bar/clubs should adhere to this idea. ( note we spent way over $100, I mean come on we were out to get sauced up )

Anyway, on to the cocktails: they had a great menu and the prices were very decent. The server was AMAZING and she even changed our table without us even asking to one of the best seats in the house. She was amazing (wish I could remember her name)

The show was so so cool and fun and entertaining! They involved the crowd and each act was different and I was so enthralled with every aspect!!!!

The music was a great selection as well and well honestly I dont have a bad thing to say about the people that worked there. They even let the bride of our group up on stage to do a little number with one of the guys!!!

There is only two things that I have to say in the negative: ONE bathroom for girls and there were not that many people there to get the vibe going. I could see this place really going off the hook if there were more people there.

BIg props for doing it right!!!!

This place is NOT what it used to be (Q's club)  Total renovation from the ground-up.
Cover is high for SB but not when compared to other cities.  (I find it keeps out the brats and thugs)
The place definitely seems to be evolving and finding their niche and the staff seems to be getting more confident and professional since they opened last year.
-Definitely a great place to come with a group after work or after a dinner.
Drinks are probably the most sophisticated I've seen in town yet they can handle basic more standard cocktails with a flair that makes them slighter better seeming.
-Bottled beer only but at least they got some good ones and they are cold.

I love The Savoy. What a perfect night. Very chill lounge/club. Not overly crowded. Great seating.

We were seated in relaxing area right by the bar and dance floor. The drink selection is great. Unique mixes and plenty of choices. The shows are fun and very entertaining, allowing a near private performance for a nice modest sized group of people. They have great little platters and bites too. The music was bumping and there was plenty of time between shows to hit the dance floor.

Will definitely make The Savoy a must visit in my trips to Santa Barbara.

For the price, not worth it. Usually $10/night however on a three day weekend it was $15. The performers/ performances were amateur. The costumes were cheap and looked like they were thrown together with whatever they could find that night. Appetizers were pretty good, especially the sweet potato and lemon fries! Drinks were really expensive.
House bad was awful but the late night DJ was decent.

Beautiful Santa Barbara people in a well remodeled location. Good job Savoy.

$5 cover for live "entertainment". It's a one song gig with a 15 minute break. Adjourned to the third deck lounge and bar with four sets of oversized sofa sets ready for 8+ of your friends to embibe. We sat down in an empty loft and were told this sofia was reservered and the guests were down stairs watching the show. 1. There was no show. 2. It was perfectly clean with no sign of use or reservation. Please invest in a sigh to alert guests of a reserved area.

Cocktails are creative and appropriately priced. Glassware choice was poor. Too many martini glasses walking around a packed ground floor. Pour it in a rocks glass and save allot of alcohol.

Bar service is typical for the funk zone. Imprsomal, rushed and you leave feeling like you were screwed.  That said it's on par for the block.

The vibe us great. Clientele is a wide mix of collage  on the prowl, middle aged looking for their youth and the upper echelon reinventing themselves. It's actually a perfect mix and what this town needs.

While I don't understand the lack of entertainment the cover was well worth the advantage inside. Whether you want the ground floor scuttle, perching over the balcony for a view or retiring to the top floor lounge you will defiantly find a happy home to spend some quality time with cocktail in hand. Bravo Savoy. You're rough around the edges but I Ike where you're coming from.

UPDATE: The new stock market system for drink pricing is brilliant. The more certain groups of alcohol is consumed, the price goes up. At the same time, the price of others drop. For example, If you're drinking Heineken all night, and everyone else is, the price could go up a dollar a bottle as the price of Amstell Light goes down 75 cents.

The hours have changed and with shows on Friday and Saturday nights, the weekdays find level 3 open for drinking.

On my way back home, I realized what going to The Savoy is like: That internet date you've spent a ton of time courting, oogling beautiful pictures, hanging on their every word and the seemingly strong connection developing.  Your date to be seems hot, intriguing, even a little edgey and my shank you...but it will be memorable.  Then you meet, see them and walk over to them...at first very happy with the decision based strictly on words and pictures.  And then they open their mouths and mess it all up, and you're looking for the nearest exit.

Such was our experience with The Savoy.  I was looking for something for me and my friends to do in SB on a Friday that was a little different and The Savoy immediately caught my attention.  Live music.  Aerial show.  Cirque acrobatics.  Sold!

However the anticipation was way better than the actual experience, for the following reasons:
    1) We were charged $10 each to get into the venue, even though we had all said we were going to eat and drink.  Which we all did.  Pressumably the 10 bucks went to the band.

    2) The hostess at the front could not operate the credit card machine to take our money to get into the club.  That wasn't so bad, but we ended up standing around for 20 minutes while she figured it she couldn't do anything and told us to just go in.  Where we asked?  Anywhere.  Ok.  It honestly felt like it was a soft opening and I asked the hostess that very question and if it was a soft opening.

    3) 90% of the mixed 'specialty' drinks we had were weak and lame.  The only redeeming drink was the Some Like It Hot.

    4) The food was bleh.  I got kobe skewers and sweet potato fries in hopes of whetting my appetite, only the former was decent.  My friend's truffle mac-n-cheese was an oily mess.  Clearly the bachemele cheese sauce had broken.  My other friend's prawn rolls looked something that came out of the freezer section at Vons and had a dab of aoili topped on it.

    5) The 'performers' were not as billed.  The belly dancing routine looked more like a twitching go-go dancer than an Arabian seduction.  The aerial dance, we later ended up calling the "sheet dance" because it looked like she went to Macy's got a sheet and twirled in it.  I DO have commend her atheleticism and balls for doing that performance without a net.

    6) Lastly and most disturbing, while waiting for the hostess to run our credit cards, a few of the bouncers (men in black suits) were doing something and then one of them tossed what looked like a California driver's license at the hostess, and told her to "throw that away".  I really, really hope that was code for "shred and burn this sensitive document lest we become liable for identity theft".

All in all, like that internet date, The Savoy is something I may work up to liking, but right now could not see myself loving it.  The place has a lot of potential.  There's a great dance floor for dancing.  The band was great.  Our waitress was very attentive.  However, for as much as we paid per person for the lame food PLUS the 10 bucks for what really amounts to cover to eat dinner...I would pass.  The Savoy would seriously have to improve its menu, procedures and processes if they wanted a 2nd date.

Really an exceptional concept and well run venue.  Worth the price of admission and then some.  I wouldn't go anywhere else for nightlife after dinner in SB; elegant and upscale yet still racy.  A pleasure to see that innovation in nightlife still exists, and that it can produce such great results.

For those in sweats who can't understand why a glass of wine would ever cost more than four dollars and would prefer a draft bud anyways, not the right place.  For those who can appreciate a sophisticated well dressed crowd combined with a unique fun flare, be sure to check this place out.

We came to this club to see Phat Cat Swinger perform live, so they charged $7.00 at the door!! We were a party of four and the waitress used no pencil or paper to jot down our drinks, appetizers, and dessert. I was skeptical that she was going to botch things up, but boy was I wrong! This waitress was 100% on point!  I do plan on going back to Santa Barbara for another stay-cation at a later time.

Some Like It Hot was my favorite cocktail of the night! An intoxicating blend of vodka, passion fruit puree, habanero syrup, basil and lime juice was a surprisingly well-balanced and deceptively strong concoction.

This tri-level newcomer to the Santa Barbara nightlife combines jazz, Cirque du Soleil and innovative drink menu in a sultry setting, which makes it an ideal venue to celebrate friendships and new beginnings.
