What a cool place to have a few drinks and watch a game. i was in town visiting a buddy and we had a rather large group. we were able to get two tables right away, the service was great and the food was awesome! we split, at our table, a fw dozen wings and 3 large pizzas. The food was awesome! I'd totaly com eback
Review Source:I was pleasantly surprised to find such a cool little spot to hang out on a Friday Night in Plano. A few friends and I were looking for a laid back atmosphere to enjoy a few beers and break our diets after a long Friday crossfit class. Somehow we found ourselves roaming The Shops At Legacy. Almost every bar that we peeked into was far too packed for our taste. Not Scruffy Duffies. We got there around 8:30ish and immediately grabbed a table and some seats. The waitress was very attentive and served us delicious queso, chips, cold beers and delicious turkey burgers! Hardly anything healthy on the menu, but that's not what were looking for or expecting.
My favorite aspect of this bar was the live music. They had a very talented and very versatile artist and band on stage who covered everything from John Legend to Prince! The scene did start to change around 10 PM or so when a DJ took over for the band and a crowd started flowing in, so I recommend getting there early and leaving early if you're in search of a more laid-back evening.
I've never bothered to leave a review on Yelp before, but with the services I received at Scruffy Duffies last weekend, I had to. Three of us came in for lunch and a beer on a Saturday around 1 o'clock. We didn't have a problem finding a seat, and quickly sat down. The waitress came over and took our drink orders and we asked her if she would turn the hockey game on. She talked to the bartender and he asked us if we knew the channel it was on. We were not familiar with DirectTV, so we didn't know the exact channel. Instead of searching through a few channels we guessed at, or utilizing the "menu" screen, he sat and texted on his phone and told us he won't change any channel until he knows what channel it is! Then he proceeded to tell us he doesn't care for hockey anyways and went back to texting. WOW!!!
We quickly wrapped up lunch, which was mediocre at best, and paid our tab to leave. As we we're walking out, I heard the waitress say to the bartender "Aren't you going to tell them to have a good day", and they laughed as we walked out.
I recommend you avoid this place, especially with all the other welcoming restaurants in The Shops at Legacy.
My friends and I were looking for a place to hang out at around 10pm and one of them suggested this place because it had good music and food. Â Unfortunately, it was packed so we had to wait about 20minutes to get a table for 5 people. Â After the college bball game was over, we were able to get a table (normally seating 2pple) and squeeze ourselves together. Â
We ordered the bucket of fried foods (waffle fries, regular fries, sweet potato fries, chips) and 10 wings (dry rub: lemon pepper & cajun). Â The fried stuff was okay, sweet potato fries were the best. Â As far as the wings go - WAY too salty. Â I had to use a napkin to scrape off all the excess seasoning, but after all that effort, it was too late - damage was already done and it was impossible to eat the wings. Â I should have known not to order the wings because it's 10 for $10! Holy moly, never doing that again! Â They do have a good amount of beer choices so that's a plus, but overall, maybe another visit or two but it won't be a regular place to visit.
I am not much into the bar scene but stopped by this place after a dinner around the corner.  Had a good time here.  They had a live band, and both an outside and inside area.  This place got very busy as the night got on, but we were able to find a quieter place with sofas to have a conversation with some friends.  Drinks were surprisingly  not extremely expensive.
Review Source:This is a great place to hang out, drink big beers and watch a game. Â During the winter I found a new favorite spot though, sitting in the open air section directly underneath their industrial heaters. I was warm and toasty, sipping some brew and eating some pretzels, which are fab by the way. Â We'll go back here often - love it. The service is great too.
Review Source:This was the last stop of the holiday after party/end of the semester/I am leaving the country soon party. I barely remember coming in here to be honest...but these are the things I do remember.
This place is huge in comparison to Ringo's right next door. Really tall ceilings and really big plasmas all over the place. We could actually find a table in here and even had our own makeshift dance floor. This was the third stop on the tour of the shops (Blue Martini, Ringos, and then Scruffy Duffies). We couldnt move in Blue Martini, Ringos was crowded, and this was just right. This bar is dubbed as the "American" version of Ringo's.
This would be a great place to watch the game and have some cheap adult beverages. I will have to try the food next time.
I have been to this place a couple times, and its a pretty fun place. They have a good selection of drinks and I'd probably give the service an 8/10. They are usually really busy on the weekends and that can make it a little hard to get a drink, because everyone seems to hangout right in front of the bar. Â It has a really good vibe on the weekends, but its not really my type of scene. There are a lot of bros here and you can almost always find a 50 year old dressed in affliction acting like there 25 again.
Very reasonable drink cost for there location in the Shops.
The bartenders are on the move constantly, but once you make it to the bar they usually get you what you need pretty quickly.
Scruffy Duffies is a fairly new addition to the shops and legacy and I think they are linked somehow to next door Ringo pub.
When I saw they were opening I had my doubts they they could survive right next door to a similar style pub.
However Scruffy Duffies is almost always busy and they went a lightly different direction by being much bigger and whilst keeping a pub feel
They have live music at weekends and have had a few pretty major events like at st Patrick's where they opened the whole car park and had music out there.
I've had a few different things to eat here and they have not been that great but stick with simple pizza and you won't go wrong
The drinks are reasonable prices and lots options.
Unlike other reviews I've always found the waitresses to be excellent
In fact just last weekend we reserved the small room at the front for hubby's birthday and our waitress (Jordan) was phenomenal as was the guy we dealt with making all the arrangements. Very professional
I thought the huge size of Scruffy Duffies would put me off but it still has a cozy feel...especially if you head out to the "patio" which is actually enclosed in the parking lot so not a true patio but I love it out there and it really does get a cool ambiance out there on chilly nights(there is a fireplace)
I've been here with many friends since it opened and I've had mixed reviews from them but personally I'm a fan...lthey only lose a star because of the food!
This is not your typical bar in the Shops of Legacy...nothing fancy about this place, feels divey (but nicer). Â Kind of refreshing really. Â We sat in the outside bar area and I thought the inside/outside seating was great. Â Like sitting in a garage with the door open. Â
I was there for just a few drinks with coworkers and all was great. Â The service was good and we shared some wings that were pretty tasty. Â If you like wings and you like 'em hot, ask for them to make spicy up the hot. Â While they were good, they just weren't spicy enough for me!
All and all, great place for a few drinks and some bar food.
Service was a little slow to start, but acceptable once it got going.
Atmosphere was pretty cool, especially the indoor-outdoor patio area - much less noisy than inside.
Drinks were a little overpriced ($5 for a domestic pint!?), but the pizza made up for it!! Â 3 friends and I killed off a Steak pizza and had 1 slice left when the masacre was over. Â Def recommend the pizza!
I didn't really like the atmosphere of Scruffy Duffies, the staff was slow the drinks were overpriced and the music wasn't that great. My boyfriend ended up getting kicked out for no reason, he was not intoxicated whatsoever, he asked the bouncer why and they wouldn't even give him an answer, it's probably because he's a homosexual and the bouncer just felt like bouncing someone... who knows, but I was glad to leave, and I'll probably never go back.
Review Source:*** NOT WHERE GOOGLE MAPS SHOWS IT TO BE***
The place looks fun as soon as you walk in. Â But what a SERIOUS let down. Â I have but only one serious pet peeve when it comes to restaurants & bars and that is "GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!" Â I've worked in the service industry before and know what it's like, you have your off days just like everyone else. Â But in an industry that you make a living off of tips doing your best should always be a must. Â A friend and I sat at a table for 15 minutes and was passed by the three waitress with not one stopping by and seeing if we needed a drink. Â I ended up having to go to the bar to get a drink. Â The bartender swiped my ID for a membership no big deal really. Â We drank our beers at the table and were passed by all the waitress's again. Â When it came time for a refill we sat for another 15-20 minutes being passed up by waitstaff the entire time with two empty glasses in front of us. Â I went back up to the bar to get our next round and got carded again by the same bartender, but this time they required a second ID to get both beers. Â What the hell? Â Why not the first time? Â Do I really have to get carded every time I want a beer? Â I don't look anywhere near being underage and you had just served me not all that long ago. Â The bar staff appeared to be inconvenienced by me to and was very cranky (I'd use another word but I'm sure the post would be flagged) whenever I talked to them. Â
Poor performance Scruffy Duffies, I'm just one man but you will not get a returning customer out of me.
Paige and I went to watch the playoff game (Miami/OKC) on a recent rainly Sunday. Inside, it was freezing, but outside on the enclosed patio area, the temp was nice and comfortable. We had cold drinks, and our server was attentive. I like that they have several tv's in each room, and they seem to cater to what the crowd wants. I'd come back here for food, but I'm on a health kick, and NOTHING on the menu was friendly to the waistline. Meh. The pizza looked delicious!
Review Source:Great new spot at The Shops at Legacy. A few of my running buddies have been here after social runs and we really enjoyed it! Great atmosphere, drink specials, huge TV screens to watch the games and their food is quite good! A friend ordered this HUGE bucket of fries and it came with different kinds of fries - sweet potato, curly, waffle, whatever you name it. With ranch dressing on the side, my fave. I also tried some pizza that had some steak on it which was different but actually good! I enjoyed everything I tried here! It's a great spot for large groups!
Review Source:We spent most of St Patty's Day at Scruffy Duffies. Â Had a huge table by one of the huge projection screens & watched basketball, drank green beer & car bombs all day & night. Â It was awesome! Â Three different waitresses were serving our large (12+) crowd & they were great. Â A $400 bar tab proves we had a great time! Â Bathrooms were clean and lines weren't too long, even at night when it got more crowded. Â Limited menue due to St Patty's Day but all in all excellent. Â We'll be back!
Review Source:Large TV's to watch your favorite American sports game. Â If you want to watch European football (aka, soccer) go next door to Ringos damn it! Â Just kidding but really go next door.
I had the Three Olives Berry vodka they have on tap with soda and the bartender poured a fair drink. Â They also have a few other liquors on tap to keep them nice and cold.
Plenty of tables to sit at and a nice outdoor area too.
I went here last night to watch the Mavs game and hangout with friends. Â The drinks are pretty good and not too expensive. Â I had a few vodka sodas and I can't complain...I'm not sure what vodka they used, but it was cool. Â Don't order the turkey burger...my friend ordered it and didn't like it. Â The calzone is ok...nothing different from a calzone you can order in the frozen section of a grocery store and warm up. Â Also, there is a potato dish that has beef on top (once I get the name of it I will update this review)...don't order it. Â Two of my friends chose this and neither were happy with the taste of it.
They have lots of tv's and a projector that are great for game watching. Â There was also a country live band in there that sounded cool. Â I would visit this place again for drinks only, especially since it is bigger than Ringos Pub.
Scruffy Duffies is a new arrival to Shops at Legacy.
1. Huge screens. 70" plasmas behind the main bar. Three of 'em.
2. An 80" plasma in the other main room of the bar
3. An even bigger projection screen in the main room, probably 8 feet in diameter.
4. Tall ceilings.
5. Three bartenders at the main bar. Never a wait.
6. Three private urinals for men-- a rarity
7. Right next door to Ringos Pub, an Irish Pub (this one is "American")
8. Meal menu still not figured out
9. No food after 10pm
In sum, more super large (70" +) screens than any bar I've been to in Dallas. Great to watch the games on, obviously. Dead here on the nights I've gone, however.
