Here is the case of another restaurant that takes the liberty of adding to your tip.
The food was not bad and the view, if not as spectacular as Sam's and Guaymas, is a nice motivation to go there.
I guess being a tourist destination grants to right for the staff to treat their customers as tourists and overcharge on the tip. Inacceptable!
It was nice taking the ferry from San Francisco and practically stepping right onto the patio at Servino's. The drinks and food was good and the staff was really nice and professional. Â
It was a little pricey but that's expected for the to-die-for views of San Francisco from the patio.
2 adults and 4 kids- we went mid-week for lunch. Â The restaurant was almost empty and we were seated promptly on the sunny deck facing the water. Â this is the number one reason we came here. Â
Positives: Â
1- Location, Location, Location (and the birds weren't a problem); hostess let us pick indoor/outdoor, sun or shade.... Â she pulled two tables together without a fuss.
2- they DO have a kids menu so I'm not sure why Yelp! says it isn't kid friendly. Â In fact, for 7-8 bucks, they received nice hamburgers and fries or large plates of gnocchi that would have been fine for an adult.
3- Our waiter, a latino guy, was very nice and helpful. Â I think he was working alone and covering 3-6 tables.
4- my pasta with kale & sausage was very innovative and good (not a huge portion but enough)
5- my cousin's pizza with proscuitto and zucchini was truly wood fire oven cooked and authentic to the T.
Negatives:
1- Almost no staff member, hostess or exposed kitchen cook cracked a smile the whole time. Â we were early in the lunch period, so they couldn't have been worn out. Â What gives? Â the sun is shining and your day is starting. Â Act like you want to welcome customers.
2- Food was sooooo slow. Â hamburgers, pizza and pasta are not rocket science. Â It tells me the kitchen is disorganized. I can't imagine what it would be like if it were crowded.
3- Secondi's are pricey; not cheap, not outrageous either.
So, give it a try off-peak.
Seriously, save your money and choose a different restaurant!!!
if i would have written a review last  year when i went here, i would have given them 3.5 stars, now on this FINAL visit ever i wish you could give minus stars, 1 star still gives them too much credit...
last year, we sat outside on the deck upstairs, the view was great of the city, don't remember what dishes we had, or which pizza, but all had good favor, wait staff was very friendly and attentive, just when i went inside to pay the bill at the bar, a worker walked behind the bar, abruptly asked if i needed something, i said my waitress was taking care of it, then he walked away, but then i noticed he was looking at me, like he was starring me down...i asked the waitress who he was and whats his problem, she said it was the owner... REALLY?!?! Â that's how you make people want to return?
needless to say why its been a year later..
right away it was disappointing when they said that they don't serve food on the upstairs deck, and that we had to sit in the indoor dining room,
hmm.. where to start ?
Maybe with :
1) the very clueless wait staff, and very unfriendly owners: mom and her son
2) or the sheets of paper on the white table clothes (sorry i forgot my crayons at home)
3) or the dish towels from ikea they use for napkins ( thanks for all the lint on my black clothes)
4) or the mismatched water glasses
5) or how long it took for the waiter to finally bring us menus,
6) or when our food finally came out, it was wrong ( the owners mom with her very unfriendly face, brought them out , and when my wife stated that 1 of the dishes was not what we ordered, she said..."oops", left with both plates and returned few mins later , and just said "your food will be out soon"....REALLY !?! no sorries no nothing really?? WOW)
7) or when our food came out , mine : was lukewarm, tasted terrible ugg waited this long for that  ..my wife's : looked like they dug it out of the trash, cause oddly when the brought it out the first time it was beautiful, we both felt sick, awhile after eating  ugg
8) or how the waiter never addressed this, and just avoided our table until he brought the bill
9) or when the buser cleared some dishes for us and splashed stuff on me.. REALLY? Â OMG
should i go on?...
O ya , the private labeled Servino Merlot is a screw top  LMAO
take a risk again? me thinks not !!!
What it lacks in being super amazing, food wise, it more than makes up for in location and overall dining experience. My advice is to get some quality Italian chefs, up the quality of the ingredients and you'll be a five star in no time. Still, we've eaten there several times owing to its gorgeous location and the ease of bringing kids to the outdoor deck.
Review Source:This restaurant was the worst one ever! Â The waiter was awfully slow and neglected my request for more bread, the water glasses remained empty for more than 10 minutes, and the hostess was just there...lack of enthusiasm, poor service and all. Â The food was less than mediocre, and I WOULD NOT recommend this place for anyone!
Review Source:Needed some food fast before jumping on Angle Island Ferry. A friend recommended Servino ( beautiful back patio overlooks the Angel Island Ferry Boarding aea). Boy were we glad, Their pizzas are to die for. Fresh, tasty and perfect crust. They rushed our order so we could make the Ferry. Our only regret is that we did not have enough time to sit and slowly eat and savor such a great pizza. We would go there again n a heart beat.
Review Source:We hosted a welcome dinner for out-of-town wedding guests on 5/25/13.  Servino Ristorante has a  second floor banquet room, which adjoins an outdoor patio. Our head count was 150 and we wanted a setup that would be large enough to allow guests to mingle, but not feel crowded, and this was perfect.  Natale Servino manages group functions and he was most helpful with the planning.  He arranged the buffet in one corner of the room, opposite the bar.  People had the option to sit at tables around the perimeter or on comfortable ottomans in the center, while there were benches on the patio.  A few tall boy tables were also strategically placed to provide spots to stand and eat.  At any given time, there was seating for about 70 people, which encouraged guests to move around.  Servino's has a sound setup that allowed us to play iPod music during the evening, and there was also a podium with a microphone that we used for toasts. Â
Our group arrived by private ferry (Blue and Gold Fleet) and walked from the pier to the restaurant. Â The wait staff was prompt in getting drinks distributed quickly to such a large group hitting them all at once, and the bartenders kept up with the crowd all night. Â
Now for the food. Â We mainly chose Servino's for its location on the Tiburon harbor with a beautiful view of the San Francisco skyline from the second floor patio. Â We figured most people like Italian food and, even if it weren't good, it would be passable. Â Much to our delight, we found the food to be delicious, as did our guests. Â We had multiple comments about how good the food was, something I wasn't really expecting. Â I had assumed people would be talking about the boat ride and the fabulous view, which they were; but I didn't assume we'd get so many complements on the food, especially since it was served banquet style. Â Passed appetizers during the cocktail hour were bruschetta, arancini, crab cakes, and bocconcini. The buffet options were misto di campo salad, rigatoni medeteraneo, fusilli bolognese, salmone picatta, pork loin au jus, and seasonal vegetables. Â I thought all were delicious, though I would suggest the chef consider adding some sort of sauce to the pork (instead of just serving it au jus) to maintain more moisture. Â That's a very minor complaint, though, considering that everything else was great. Â
We returned to San Francisco via King's Tour buses. Â I was so pleased with the way the evening went and have nothing but good thoughts of Servino Ristorante. Â I would highly recommend it for a group dinner.
We had one of the best italian meals we have had in years! The chef, Massimo, really honors good food and keeps it simple and delicious. It is all incredibly fresh and obviously made to order. The mussels were phenomenal and the pana cotta was silky smooth with the perfect touch of vanilla. I can not say enough good things about the food preparation, the chef cares, and you can tell. I would have given 5 stars but the service started off a bit slow, (no server at all until we craned our heads several times), and the interior could use a bit of a spruce up. But these two minor items would not keep me from coming back. Can't wait for our next visit! Thank you Massimo!
Review Source:One star for the hostess. Even though English is my native language, she kept saying "Whhhaaat??" after everything I said.
Me: Hi, two please.
Her: Hoooww many??
Me: Um, two. Do you have a table outside?
Her: TWO for dinner?
(please note, it's 6pm)
Me: Yes, two for dinner.
Her: Whaaat? For dinner??
Me: Yes. Are the tables on the upper patio available?
Her: The whaat?
Me: THE TABLES ON THE UPPER PATIO.
Her: Oh, no. There's a private party tonight.
Me: Ok, do you have anything outside?
Then she doesn't say anything, grabs two menus and starts walking toward the patio at a snail's pace. She brought us to a table and didn't say a word, then walked away. Not even a "here you go" or "someone will be here shortly."
That was enough. My girlfriend and I just got up and left (I had to restrain her from giving her the middle finger as we walked out) I wonder if other potential patrons got so turned off by her that they didn't give Servino a chance.
Our family had a rehearsal dinner here and they were really accommodating. We took a ferry over here so it was cool that we could just dock and walk right in. The food was standard Italian - pasta and salad etc. but they did a great job and it was all good including the starters - some risotto balls, crab cakes (weren't my fav but they went like hot cakes) and some other stuff. It would have been cool to try different stuff on the menu but with over 200 people its pretty tough.
Would love to check this place out again.
After a long bike ride from SF to Tiburon, I was craving seafood of all things. Â Downtown Tiburon is a quaint area far removed from the stresses of city-life. Â I stopped into Servino and was early enough to more or less have the place to myself. Â There's a lovely patio out back which was perfect to watch the waves and peer off at Angel Island.
The services was excellent right down to the bus boy who regularly checked in, asking if I wanted more bread or water. Â Best of all, they were flexible to put the seafood dish over spagetti even though it wasn't listed that way on the menu. Â
All in all, a wonderful experience that was the highlight of my trip.
Extremely disappointed in our Mother's Day experience here. Â
First they lost our reservations and argued with me about it. Â I showed them the confirmation email I received that morning and they proceded to tell me I called and cancelled that morning from the hospital... which I did not. Â They never apologized or even took responsibility for the mix up. Â
They then sat us on the patio where the poles blocked our view of the water (it seemed there were only a few tables that actually had a view). Â Once we were seated no one came to take our order for over half an hour and the only reason we had someone come at that time was because we waved down the hostest to do something about it. Â When our waiter showed up he said something along the lines of "I guess I'll take care of you guys". Â Throughout our meal or waiter gave us attitude when we would ask for something and would say things like "I can't help you right now" and wouldn't return to our table for long periods of time. Â And at the end of our meal he rushed us for the bill because he was leaving for another job. Â
To top it all off the food was mediocre. Â Sorry mom.
Boy of Boy, Has this place improved. Been coming here for 30 years and always found the service to be great and the views outstanding,However, the food had drifted down. A lot of food with a pile of mash potatoes does not make for a great meal. New Chef in town and he has turned it around and now it is excellent.
Had the pan seared halibut and my wife had the pasta with prawns and we both
said is has really changed for the better. Â The wine list is good and reasonably priced.
Now I am afraid the word will get out and I won't be able to get a seat at a resonable time.
It is important to note that in 2013, all the Servino reviews are for the improved experience brought by  the new chef Massimo--Servino is now an excellent restaurant, with delicious pastas and vegetables, wonderful pizza from a wood-fired pizza oven, organic produce, an entire  gluten-free menu, great wine list...There is also, of course, the patio with amazing views. Chef Massimo has made Servino's a great addition to Tiburon dining, which has also been considerably raised by the addition of another excellent Italian restaurant also with Frantoio heritage,  on Ark Row, Don Antonio's.
Review Source:This is a great restaurant that's located just as you get off the ferry. Â Italian food just sounded great to us for lunch and Servino didn't disappoint. Â
We sat on the patio with a great view of the bay and our server came out immediately. Â We had a bottle of wine, and split a Caesar salad, and the Spaghetti al Pomodoro and Invernale Pizza. Â Caesar is Caesar, as long as it isn't overpowered with anchovy taste it's pretty hard to go high or low on the quality. Â The pizza was delicious, sausage and goat cheese, but the addition of kale was a very unique and pleasant touch. Â And their pomodoro sauce is absolutely amazing. Â It's basic, tastes fresh, very smooth and they don't dump a ton of on, just enough to mix with the pasta.
The price was pretty reasonable for lunch and the service was fast and friendly. Â The next time I find myself in the Bay Area I will remember this place.
So food is okay. Â Had a salad and a pizza. Â For the mid high price range I'm only made more uncomfortable by what was all around a poorly executed experience.
If the service hadn't made me wait 1 hour for my drinks alone "because the glasses were all dirty" and if it hadn't taken 1 and 1/2 hours for my food to arrive, on the quality of the food alone I don't think I could give this place more than 3 stars heavily weighing in the location which is nice.
The total lack of thought in trying to perhaps assuage my groups visible distaste with the experience only further highlights what was all around a unpleasant experience.
If you choose to come here go for the pasta perhaps that is more passable Italian food and demand a view, otherwise don't bother.
I absolutely love this place. I found them online when searching for a restaurant with organic produce, GMO free food, and grass fed meat. What a surprise when I arrived and found that they also have an entire menu of gluten free options. They make homemade GF Â pasta; they serve mariposa GF rosemary rolls; they offer mariposa GF pizza. Gluten free isn't an afterthought at this place. Its the real deal. I've been there twice and I can't wait to go back!
Review Source:My company BEW Productions recently worked with Servino Resturante on a private event / New Years Eve party. Â The staff was incredibly professional and very easy to work with making everything seamless from beginning to end. Â Natale, who manages the private events, was very detail oriented making my job more enjoyable. Having work with many different venues, Servino Ristorante was top notch. Â I can't say enough about how positive the overall experience was. Â I look forward to doing more private events with Natale and his team in the future.
Review Source:Being Gluten-Free (GF) for several years, it is AMAZING to go to an Italian restaurant and the back-side of the seasonal, organic menu featuring local farms is GF. Â Wow! Â Chef Massimo has trained his staff (kitchen and service) on creating a safe, classy and yummy GF dining-out experience. Â The zuppa di pesce was tasty, bold yet delicate, and not overly salty. Â And the mousse di chocolate was perfectly creamy, bittersweet, with little bits of chocolate they imported from Italy. Â They make the 4 GF pasta selections in-house. Â I'm personally not wow-ed by Mariposa bakery (where they source the GF bread and GF pizza dough), but this is a fine start in the right direction! Â Generous portion size for the pork chop although the other items could have been more generous for the sticker-price. Â Attentive, personable staff. Â Easy seating given it was a Saturday night.
Review Source:Had a great Gluten Free dinner at Servino and was so thrilled to learn that they are coming out with a whole gluten free menu in a few days. They have a separate oven for the gluten free pizza and have fantastic GF bread. GF pasta is coming any day now. What a lovely place to cozy up on these cold winter nights. Staff and chef couldn't have been nicer!
Review Source:With remarkably distinct dishes that tantalize the taste buds, an incredible Wood Fire Oven that produces unparalleled pizzas, pastas and meats of tender flaming delight, with buttery fresh bread that melts in your mouth one basket at a time, with coffee from La Coppa, locally roasted in San Rafael, with an enchanting view of the San Francisco Bay and a Chef's Philosophy that reflects, "a cultivation of relationships with the finest local organic farmer's and sustainable purveyors, and then fastening their wonderful products in Italian inspired seasonal dishes," it is a small wonder that this is not one of the most frequently visited and most highly reviewed eateries in all of the Bay Area.
Did I mention that Bill Gates has been known to bring special guests here for the Wood Fire Oven? Â But keep that to yourself . . .
Truly, this  restaurant is a sign of the times, something I would put in a time capsule, for future generations to mull upon its allure, so It is no wonder that when I am away from the Bay Area, I go to bed dreaming of the delicately delicious deserts and wake up craving the simply delectable lunch and dinner menus.  When  I returned to Marin for the Thanksgiving Holiday, 2012, I had my first dinner here with my mother, who only eats Chicken Salad for every meal, and I knew that if I was going to get her to indulge, Servino was the place.
I decided that I wanted a little bit of everything, and since I was paying, that was going to be the fashion for the evening. Â My mother loves vegetables so we started out with Brushchetta, a family tradition, the Baby Beet salad, and the Mista di Campo, Green Gulch Mixed Greens with dried cranberries and a lemon vinaigrette. Â These delightful dishes were my mother's favorite, they were crisp, refreshing and successfully satisfying. Â Next, we split a Kambucha squash soup, Burrata cheese, and a pizza special that featured San Marzano Tomatoes, and Mom dug in unlike I have seen in a while. Â I understand why. Â For the final course, my mouth went on an Italian adventure as I dug through small portions of Gnocchi Mediterraneana, Octopus Salad, and a Veal Tenderloin Filet that dissolved before I could get it down my throat. Â I could not have been more satisfied, but we decided to divulge in dessert strictly as a means of masochism against our already stuffed bellies and we split a Tiramisu.
So, if you're in the Bay Area, I strongly recommend that you accompany one or more of your favorite loved ones to this infinitely impressing and innovative, also romantic, lunch and dinner destination with a fabulous full bar and Bella Vista Ballroom upstairs, for special occasions. Â Ask for John, or any of the other charming and cheery servers.
SO incredibly disappointing! and even worse it was expensive!
My husband made reservations here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Â The service was ok, but the food was all bland... and pretty pricy.
we ordered wine, appetizers, main course and a dessert -- ALL WERE MEDIOCRE--
I had the special aged steak (most expensive item on menu) The steak looked good, but was VERY bland... I couldn't believe it, I that the chef either doesn't know how to cook, or forgot to season it! The was no sauce, no ajus, no flavor. Â I never salt my food at restaurants, never, and use very little salt when I cook at home. I had to reach for the shaker multiple times to get any of the steak down...
the sides that came with the "Special aged steak" were just as tasteless.... it looked like something you'd expect to get a Denny's.... but for 3 to 4x's the price.
My husband ordered a chiopino type seafood stew, even that was lacking in flavor. Â
I didn't say anything to the waiter because i didn't want my husband to feel bad, but I will never go there again!!!!
Don't waste your time and money!!!!!
Such a waste!
We don't mind spending money at restaurants for good food... but  this place,  well I just don't get how so many people have given it good reviews....
My partner and I went to Servino's for the first time last night, and are enchanted by the discovery of this wonderful restaurant! Â The food is excellent, with the kind of subtle tastes that come from a great chef's attention. Â It's reasonably priced, and has a nice atmosphere. Â We Loved the Balsamic dip that is automatically served with the bread - after a second helping of it, we controlled ourselves and didn't get a third.
We especially appreciated our waiter. Â Even though it was late at night for dinner, he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable about the food and his enjoyment very much added to our meal. Â
THis is the first time I've written a review for Yelp, but had to do it for this great find!

We spent a nice afternoon in Tiburon, picnicking on the grass near the ferry docks, and we thought a Bloody Mary at Sam's would be a nice way to end the day.
However, in the 10 years since I last visited Sam's, it had become overrun with Bros, Skanks and a bazillion tourists, and since my Ed Hardy allergies were really starting to kick in, we sought an alternate location for a little outdoor libation. And we found a table at Servino's!
We ordered a couple of drinks and some steamed mussels. The food was fine, and the drinks as well - plus points for having properly-chilled Anchor Steam. Prices are not ridiculous considering the location. I totally recommend Servino's over the ludicrously overpriced and lame Guaymas, and the Bro-tastic Sam's!
The best part of our visit here though, was probably the trio of Tiburon Princesses seated next to us who spent the entire time moaning about having to get up at 7 AM to go to work by 9, and not having enough "me time" as they alternately picked at their salads and poked at their blinged-out iPhones. One of them seemed particularly distressed by the fact that Daddy wouldn't let her take the Quattroporte to The City to go clubbing.
People-watching at Servino's - a good time for sure! And try the mussels!
The only good thing about this restaurant is the view.
We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, to enjoy an early dinner. We had just come from a wedding reception upstairs in the private party area. We were all starving, and decided to give the downstairs restaurant a try.
We were seated quickly, as the restaurant was practically empty. Our waitress had an attitude from the moment she began helping our table. She seemed very rushed and inconvienced, which was odd, because the restaurant was pretty empty. When we asked her what she recommended from the menu, she couldn't come up with a response, and replied rather rudely, "I DUNNO, WHAT DO YOU LIKE?!?!" In hindsight, she probably didn't have a favorite item, because the food sucked. Â She proceeded to take everyone's order, and quickly left the table, forgetting to take the order of one of the members in our party. We tried to flag her down, and hoped she would realize her mistake and come back, but no such luck. Â The person who's order she forgot had to GET UP, WALK ACROSS THE RESTAURANT, and place his order at the servers station--HIGHLY unprofessional.
One of the memebers in our party asked for "no cheese" to be  sprinkled on her pasta. When the food arrived, alas, there was cheese on the pasta.  Instead of offering to take back the pasta and bring out a corrected version, the rude waitress basically told us, "it's light cheese," as she set it in front of our "no cheese" ordering party member.  No apologies, no offering to take it back...nothing. Â
The apparent "manager" realized one of the members had dropped his napkin on the floor by accident. He walked over, made a cheeky remark about dropping a napkin on the floor, and then walked away, leaving a bad taste in our mouths.
The food was almost as bad as the service. Â I ordered the canneloni, which pretty much tasted like Chef Boy Ar-Dee Ravioli in a can. Â The sauce was sour tasting, and an awful color, while the meat inside the pasta looked like cat food. Nobody else at our table had anything good to say about their food. Â Basically, we were all unimpressed.
This restaurant survives by being a tourist trap. Â The location deserves a restaurant with not only a great view, but outstanding food and a waitstaff that cares. Â
We will NEVER go back to Servino's. What a joke.
Servino's is a great alternative to Sam's. My group and I came over on the ferry from SF on a sunny Friday afternoon to try out the much-lauded Sam's, but my vegetarian friend couldn't find many options on the menu so we wandered over to Servino's. At 11:30 on a Friday, we were the only ones in the restaurant, but that made service attentive and efficient.
They do have deck seating and the view of the water and the city across the bay is beautiful. Everyone at my table was pleased with their orders. I highly recommend the truffle pizza as well as the tagliatelle with braised lamb shoulder sugo and parmesan. The pasta had the perfect balance of cheese with savory, tender bits of sugo. If you're looking for a bloody mary fix, they do offer them even though they aren't on the menu. They were good, although a bit watery, so perhaps request less ice.
Follow up your lunch by meandering around town (the gorgeous China Cabin is worth a visit) and you've got a recipe for a lovely morning.
We were here a few weeks ago for a little wine & jazz festival, which was pretty cute. Â The event was held upstairs, so my review is only pertinent to that part of the establishment.
The staff was very nice and they kept the snacks coming throughout the day. Â The food, from what I understand, is stuff normally offered on their menu....so points for that because it was pretty good. Â Especially the little crab cakes and the mushroom pizza. Â Nom.
There's a big deck on the back which overlooks the bay -- it has an amazing view of San Francisco in the distance. Â Quite lovely on a sunny day. Â
I'm deducting a star for the nasty-ass bathroom upstairs. Â Yuck. Â It was dirty, rickety, and one of the paper towel dispensers is stuck to the wall and held together with duct tape. Â Really guys? Â You couldn't fix that? Â :-/
I'd like to come back again and check out the place on a regular day and see what they've got to offer (and if the downstairs bathroom is better!). Â If I do make it back, I'll update my review.
Downtown Tiburon is so close to San Francisco, but such a world away. I traveled the short distance across the GG bridge and ended up in a woodsy and beautiful area. The whole ambiance of the area makes you feel like you are on vacation, its so clean and well kept.
So onto the restaurant review... we arrived for a midweek dinner out at Servino, after randomly selecting it cause it was one of a few restaurants still open at 9. (Those small towns, they always shut the party down early.) After being seated quickly we had a view of the bay, kind of. Well, we had a view of the sides of boats in the bay.
We ordered the Affettati, or meat plate, to start with and I stuck with the Italian theme and enjoyed a Moretti. The meat was very good and I loved the olives that complimented it. I wish there would have been more crostini, but the bread that came at the beginning served a similar purpose. For my main I had a "lazy man's salad" - Insalada Cremosa - with gorgonzola and pancetta. It was very good and refreshing. My date for the night had the margarita pizza and it has a great thin crust and was good as well.
Tiburon is such a fun place to visit if you need a night away from the city. Servino was a fun place to try with good food and friendly service.
Failed Date number ?
Haha.
Note To Readers: This is a blast from the past, not to be confused with my current path of life. Â HEHE!
I was reminded of this location only recently because I had taken the Angel Island ferry out for a hike with my sweetie last weekend and of course, Servino's was right there, in my face.
And then, Boom! Â I totally remembered a failed date. Â
But, since my memory is so inclined, I will retell the tale of this failed attempt made even more so by the stop here.
Once upon a time, long ago, in the fabled town of Sacramento, I was asked out on a date by a budding actor who was a mix of Italian and Northern European blood, who surprised this little country mouse off of her stable rocker with the very first date and sadly, no other dates leapt from this spur of the moment date.
So, let's step back a bit. Â The country mouse, shows up at Pier 39 upon the bequest of the blind date. Â Shocked is she, to see the handsome young man, replete in a stylish dark brown weathered leather coat by Armani, jeans and Italian leather shoes. Â Wavy dark brown/Auburn hair and green eyes.
Dost my eyes deceive me? Â Who is this??
He had purchased tix beforehand for a ferry departing for Tiburon and that we had dinner reservations at Servino's. Â The country mouse was impressed but a little taken aback by this. Â A first date, come on now!
Servino's has a cute location on the Tiburon, next to Guaymas. Â Great double deck view of SF as well as the docking/departing ferry. Â It was a nice and warm environment with friendly waiters and nicely linen covered tables. Â The food, for the most part, was typical tourist fare and something I would not truly comment as fantastic. Â I elected for the Chicken Parmigiana since I've learned from the book of dating to never order pastas where flicks of questionable sauces and origin may inadvertently end up on your shirt or skirt/outfit.
The chicken was slightly rubbery, but it was okay. Â If I recall correctly, most of the date was highly uncomfortable since his good looks were interfering with my verbal capabilities and competing at the same time; that our conversation pieces had no correlation or parallel with each either at all.
D O O M
My date paid for dinner and on the ferry back, the sun was setting and the bay was absolutely gorgeous, in addition to the gorgeous date sitting next to me, his hair waving in the wind.
Sigh. Â One date down for this country mouse.
Next.
Servino is a charming Italian restaurant that makes you feel like you're in a town in Italy where Sia S is the mayor. Seriously, he's like a celebrity in this town - people are always coming up to him, stopping him on his way in or out to shoot the breeze, getting their photo taken with him, etc... Sia is THE Man in Tiburon. He's also very humble and generous, which is why his girlfriend should never break up with him. Anyhow, after our 5 minute tour of Downtown Tiburon (which is really how long it takes to walk the entire downtown area), Sia invited J-To and I to have some drinks and food at Servino.
There was live entertainment that night, and things were pretty lively around the bar area. We got seated at the table next to the window, and it was nice and cozy. We ordered some drinks and decided to get a prosciutto and arugula flatbread pizza to share. I think between Rachel C and I, we filled up on 2 baskets of the wonderful bread with balsamic vinaigrette dipping sauce. I was completely content with just eating that bread all night long. The servers were very friendly, and I'm sure it was because we were with regulars, and brought us bruschetta on the house. Along with the pizza, my carb intake was at its max. I only managed to have 1 slice of the pizza, which was good, but the bruschetta and bread were actually better.
I'd love to come back to try some of their entrees and pastas, which looked delicious. There's also an upstairs private area, which would be great for events, as well as a nice dining room in the back, along with the deck area, which of course is what makes Servino and so many other places on Main Street so special. The view of the city across the bay is just breathtaking.
P.S. Sia S and Rachel C are the awesome Elite yelpers behind the entire Tiburon Film Festival. You guys rock!
A local hangout . . . . with a few tourists thrown in for good measure.
Every night  . . . . but Friday and Saturday nights are STANDING ROOM ONLY. Live music, strong drinks, and good finger food. Not cheap, but worth it.
If you get there early you might get a table. Reservations are no guarantee - - Â unless they throw someone else out. No one wants to leave once you are settled and the music starts.
We met there late Friday night after an event next door. There was a full table. Ten plus. The server was right on top of things. Drinks were never empty and there was a steady stream of eats.
The bar was 3 deep, at least. Sure glad I had a chair, an amaretto sour and great pizza. Â Even some shared oysters . . .
All-in-all it was a great end to a very long full day. Â
Servino's Bar . . . an entirely different world than the quiet elegance of Servino's Ristorante!
If there is one thing all of us SF/Bay Area residents share, it's the MAGNIFICENT views. Whether you're rich/poor, young/old, stupid/smart, ugly/good looking, Christina/Britney...no one can deny the jaw dropping juxtaposition of sea, mountains, sky, sometimes fog.
The back patio at Servino Ristorante offers such a view. Â They also serve possibly the BEST eggs benedict I've ever tasted. Â Proscuitto is substituted for canadian bacon here. This IS Tiburon, after all.
The hostesses here are HOTTER than Georgia asphalt.
