I would definitely return here on a trip to Foxwoods. It's not Vegas, its not even close but I think you'll still enjoy yourself. Mix of top 40 and EDM when I was there. The crowd was pretty good, obviously there is bound to be at least 3 bachelorette parties on any given night. I really liked the outdoor patio in the back. They have a nice setup here. $20 to get in, pretty standard for this kind of place. They have a no in and out policy which made sense but was at the same time obnoxious if you are staying at the hotel.

I have no idea how the food was. We were looking for a nice meal before our show but made the mistake of not calling ahead for a reservation. And had the host said "I'm sorry we can only accept reservations at this time" I would have understood. He actually didn't even ask if I had a reservation.  Instead he jerked me around for nearly 30 min while he exchanged glances with the other guy there. I finally realized they actually didn't want me there and had no intention of seating me.  It just felt pretentious and unwelcoming and in the end probably not a good fit for either of us. But come on... You are a business in the middle of a casino.. Get over yourself and at least learn how to be gracious when you turn someone away from your "shrine". (We ended up at juniors which wasn't quite what we were looking for but the service was exceptional)

My experience and review is for the restaurant ONLY.

The Shrine Kitchen is fabulous!  My husband and I went for a date-night dinner.  We got a couple of the specialty martinis to start.  Both were very refreshing and we could tell they are generous with the alcohol that is put in them, so at least you're getting your $14's worth.  For appetizers, we get the beef skewers and a lobster roll.  The beef was so tender; it almost melted it my mouth.  SO GOOD!  The lobster roll was also fabulous... generous portion of 8 rolls with huge chucks of lobster!  For our main dinner, we ordered the deluxe sushi platter to try a variety of the sushi Shrine had to offer and it didn't disappoint.  There were 4 sets of 2 pieces of nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, red head roll, and two shrimp tempura hand rolls.  The fish was extremely fresh and was ready when we finished our apps.  It was perfect for two people who love sushi!  The service was really great as well.  Our waitress was very attentive and kept our water glasses full and checked several times to make sure we were good or if we needed anything.  The atmosphere is very romantic, especially since the dance club/lounge hadn't gotten busy yet.  It is a bit pricey but definitely worth it once in awhile!

My dining experience at the Shrine was not all that pleasant.  The hostess was rude and dismissive....did not smile and acted bored.  The Duck Buns were WAY too salty and bordered on inedible.  Waiter never refilled my water glass, even when I asked him to.  The sushi was ok, but I can get cheaper and comparable sushi at Peking Tokyo in Mystic.  If you want good fusion food, go to Kawa Sushi in Groton.  The Shrine is a rip-off.

Pleasantly surprised after reading the harsh; expected reviews of this Foxwoods sushi sanctuary. Kudos to shrine for attempting an upscale vibe with affordable prices and quality sushi. Very impressed with the knowledgable server and Tuesday night special. Liked especially that when asked the waitress under pressure surrendered to her favorite  the New York roll...,and rightfully so. Yowza. Completely intrigued by the texture of the fresh and crisp cucumbers, the raw fresh sushi, and the market ready sauces accompanying the carefully prepared rolls. Really impressed by service, presentation and taste (minus the salmon roll); which was tasted and removed immediately (thank god!). We highly recommend this restaurant!

    Ugh.

For the record, this review pertains to the downstairs lounge, and not the main restaurant, because we were morons and didn't make reservations before going to see Eddie Izzard.

The vibe of the place was somewhat nice, with black and red decor and cozy sitting areas, except that this was undermined by the blasting pop music. Service left something to be desired, our waitress was barely around and had a little bit of an attitude when she was.

The real problem is the food, and the price for the food. We were looking for dinner, so we ordered General Tso's Chicken and split it... $26. I'll admit it, for that price I was looking for some pretty damn good chicken. It wasn't good, it wasn't even acceptable. It was mushy and flavorless over equally mushy and flavorless rice. Terrible. I'de have been pissed to get that from Panda Express for $8, nevermind in an actual restaurant.

Maybe people come here for the drinks? My $14 martini was acceptable. Also our edamame was fine. But overall, this is not a place I'd recommend to anyone. I left, barely having eaten anything, and pissed.

I always have fun at Shrine. Never had the food here, but the DJs on Fridays and Saturdays usually spin some great dance music and this is an awesome place to go to as a group if you're visiting Foxwoods.

A few notes that you might want to consider before heading here:

    1. The cover can be pricey ($20) for guys and girls past a certain time.
    2. Beers aren't too expensive, but mixed drinks are $10+
    3. They won't let you have more than one drink at a time, so you can't buy people drinks without them present, etc.

Overall though if you're looking for a clubby atmosphere at one of the CT casinos, Shrine is a great spot.

This is a tough restaurant to rate, but i will go with 3 stars. It could be a five if i was just rating the sushi, one of the best in CT! however my wife had the general tso's which was bland. we had the lettuce cups as an app. ehh, again not so hot. However the duck fries and edamame was quite good.
The service was excellent. loved our waitress, very nice and explained the menu exceptionally.
The restaurant was freezing cold. uncomfortably so! overall a decent time. would go back for the sushi and bring a jacket.

Though shrine was running some great seven dollar appetizer specials, the restaurant fell far short of satisfying last evening.  Portions are small to say the least and very overpriced for the meals.  House Pinot noir was harsh and not enjoyable at all.  General tsos chicken was overlooked and very tough.  Surf and turf with steak and a specialty roll was below average for this caliber of restaurant.  Steak tasteless and tough, the roll was good but not a very large, portion at all. Service was average at best, music is techno horrid!!!!! Really bad atmosphere, cheapens the place immensely.  Wont be back, have yet to find a decent restaurant in MGM

This review is for the club side only.  I really can't think of anything positive to say about this place.  Here are the cons: $20 cover, crazy expensive drinks (a small, weak vodka drink and beer cost about $20), tiny dance floor, huge (empty) VIP areas, and rude or indifferent staff.  We didn't stay long, and I wouldn't go back.

My review covers the Asian restaurant and not the nightclub.  We arrived early, about 6 because we were going to the comedy club later, and without reservations for a party of 4.   They sat us right away.  No problem.

The hostesses all wear trendy short skirts and heels.  No problem. (yes, this is a bit sexist, but I'm a guy and they clearly are part of the ambiance so let's not put our heads in the sand.)

The wait staff is attentive and prompt although it took three reminders before our server brought me a cold dry vodka martini that was actually cold (had to remind her twice).  The gal maintained a positive attitude despite my increasing grumpiness.  No problem.

The sushi, sashimi, rolls and seaweed salad were all delicious.  No problem.

(We passed on the nightclub.  We were hoping to go dancing, but heard from several folks that the club is packed and plays mostly techno.  It's a problem; the TV ads make it seem that there dance floor is accessible and that the music will appeal to people 40+, but that does not appear to be the case.)

Based on the food and restaurant I would definitely go back.

Truthfully.. i had an absolutely blast when i went. i will get to why only 3 stars.

get there early early early i cannot stress this enough the line gets ridiculous we got there a lil after 11 and the line wasn't too bad after a few bumps here and there we finally got in around 1130 and by then the line was really really long. The cover is 20 bucks which sucks and the drinks are very expensive. beers were about 8 bucks shots 10 mixed drinks 12-15ish. The price of their drinks are way over priced to say the least, I've never paid that in Boston.

the place was obviously packed but more just on the dance floor so it was nice to leave and go to the bar and actually have room to breathe. The bartenders were really quick to serve us and really nice and polite. The DJ they had that night I really enjoy a lot i've seen some of the other reviews about their DJ's but the one this night (saturday) was on point.

so overall nice club, good service.. just sucked to pay 20 dollars to get in then pay about half that for a drink.. but if you do go just do shots all night more bang for the buck.

    AMAAAZING sushi.
Went on a Saturday night around 730, made reservations but really didn't need them.  The service was really good and the food was great. We had a very private table overlooking the club/bar below (although at such an early hour there was no one in the club or even the bar below).  For dinner, we had the lettuce wraps and 3 rolls.  Rolls were on the smaller side but all were very tasty.  After we finished our 3 rolls, we ordered a fourth- by recommendation of the waitress. The tuna tempora roll she recommended was phenomenal.  We considered going back here the next day is was so good. For sushi, it wasn't overly pricy- probably one of the best deals within the MGM for the quality of food/atmosphere/service.

We came here with the intention of getting a dessert and maybe hitting the nightclub after.  We actually got the Vegetable Spring Rolls which were delicious. Can't wait to get some more.

We passed on the nightclub for 2 reasons. One reason is the well documented $20 per person cover charge and the second well documented reason is the size of the place. It was 10:30 and the place was packed.  I honestly don't think it was packed because of the number of people, but how poorly this place is laid out. If they were to shift the bar to the back of the room - things would work a lot more smoothly.

Other people's food smelt delicious and another why I can't wait to try more out. We came for a snack and so far so good. See you in the future Shrine for food at least.

In Shrine's defense, after expressing my disappointment to Foxwoods, Meg, a manager at Shrine contacted me personally and sent a nice follow up letter.  I appreciate her taking the time to talk with me and try to remedy the situation.  She was extremely professional and listened to what I had to say.  I will be giving Shrine another try in the future.

This review is for the restaurant.(Didn't try the night club side)

We were at Foxwoods on a Friday night and wandered over to the bar at the Shrine. Our intentions were to just have some drinks but watching the sushi come out of the kitchen we had to try some. We ordered the Spicy Tuna roll and California roll. Both were very good and the presentation was quite nice too. Would definitely go again just for those... maybe even try some of the other dishes which looked and smelled good. The drinks were really nothing special, on the expensive side and weak. But service at the bar was good. The 2 orders of rolls and 4 drinks was about $80 with tip.

Note: This is a club review only.

I have heard a lot of talk about Shrine so what better place to go to while staying at MGM with my girlfriend? It is a place which hosts many great DJ's and it's the only club there so my expectations were pretty high. I have dealt with a lot of pretentious bartenders and have been given awful service at clubs here in Boston so it could only be better, right? WRONG.

Clubs are not known to give good service because, quite frankly, they just don't care. For every person that doesn't get in there are 10 more who are trying to. But if it's a club/restaurant then it just makes the restaurant look like .... you can fill in the blank there with whatever derogatory term you wish. I am not going the event comment on the bad music  (weird rap mixups with a random house song here and there) which they were playing that night because lets face it after a couple of drinks it doesn't even matter when your'e dancing. Or may the DJ just sucks. I am even going to excuse paying the $30 cover entrance for me and my GF even though we literally walked in at 11:02 and it was her birthday! (It's $10 for guys before that and free for girls).

What I will not excuse however is the bartender refusing to give me a glass of water after ordering a couple of drinks and leaving her $2/drink tips all night.
Listen I never expect much of a service when I go to clubs, but I do expect certain rights, such as some water without paying $5 for it. Are you kidding me Shrine?

I have been to some of the other places the owner's of Shrine own in Boston and they have been better, but it put a bad taste in my mouth to be honest. But don't expect too much when you come here.

Came again on Sat night.  Service was ok, took a while, but at 9:30pm this place is still hoppin, so I can let that slide.  We were still out of there in an hour.

Shimp Shumai was weird... over steamed to hell first of all, and they top it off with spicy mayo (or something similar) then give you some creamy sweet and spicy mustard dip, which was just too rich/heavy.  A side of low sodium soy sauce was much better to cut through all that rich mush.

Seaweed salad was good, but different.  Had a weird taste to it, can't really describe it, but something just tasted a little off... maybe too much of that sesame taste and the ponzu made it a bit saltier than I liked.

Spicy tuna roll was very good... most places now mash up the tuna with the spicy mayo and create like a tuna paste, this has a solid chunk of gorgeous ruby red tuna inside, which i appreciated a lot.

Spider Crab Roll... very good as well, wasn't saturated in 18 different sauces like most trendy places do now lol

Given the fact that this is the only "gourmet" restaurant in Foxwoods where you can actually have a good amount of food, have a drink, and not spend more than $60, will still be a patron going forward.  Need to venture out and try their entrees.

My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend at Foxwoods, and we started off with dinner on Friday 4/13/12 at Shrine.  We didn't want to over do it so we started with some edamame and for dinner, split the sea bass and one of the specialty rolls.  Our meal was excellent!  Also, we started with some cocktails, which were strong and delicious.   Prices were comparable to what we would pay in southern Westchester or the city.

After gambling a bit (I won $13.00 playing Sex and the City slots!) we returned for some booty shakin'.  This place fills up.  I thought the DJ did a great job, and everyone seemed to have a good time.  I know people have complained about it being too crowded, but it seems as though this and the club at Mohegan Sun are the only nightclubs in the area.  So unless you want to go have a pitcher of beer at Mystic Pizza, this seems to be the place to go.

If you're in a group of more than 4, I'd recommend buying a bottle.  Duh.  That way you have more room, and will get more bang for your buck.  It seems as though people are in denial of how nightclubs work.  You have to dress appropriately, be polite, spend a lot of money, and tip well to get good service.  If you don't want to do those things, stay home and watch something on Netflix.

$20 cover for this place, what? The dance floor itself is as big as a Dunkin Donuts bathroom. I went with 8 people or so and this place is so packed that the group lost each other a few times. So packed that every time you move you hit a different person with each step! I was surprised that I didn't see a few fights from all the physical contact. The funny thing is we went to the back of the club to get some breathing room and we see a ton of Jersey Shore wannabes (guys) dancing by themselves in circles and taking up unnecessary room. Never again will I go here, I don't care who's in this club!

To be honest, from the horror stories some of my friends who had been here before told me about I was expecting a rough night at Shriners. I was aware about the $20 dollar cover beforehand and was OK with that, I also was told before hand by some of the girls in our group that once you leave you can't come back in, which I admit is fairly odd. Had I not known though I can see how it would be really annoying, especially if you have a room upstairs and just want to rest your feet for a minute! (There is no seating if your not in VIP and even if you are the seating is extremely limited).  There was a group of 8 of us and 3 had been to Shrine during the weekend of the Pitbull concert. They said it was a horrible time, bad DJ, weak drinks, and way over capacity making it no one could really dance. Seems like it was a bad night for them and they warned us about making the same mistake.

So anyways.....overall our night this past weekend was great. The DJ played amazing songs and did a great job of making the whole night flow. Yes there was a ton of people but it was a Saturday night. Last call is 1:15 but they played music till about 2.

I would go back if I was ever in Foxwoods!

Ok so we went there with a group of 10 guys. For our small Christmas party. Our tab was just over $1000 about as expected. The appetizers were awesome. Pu pu platters, fried rice, sushi.
The dinner entrees were horrible. Amazing the food all came out of the same kitchen?  Being so different. The steaks were tough and overcooked and dry as were the other chicken and fish entrees. Our waitress was very nice. Would not go a second time.

    Yuck.

    1. $20 cover say what? I don't even pay cover in NYC! Lame.
    2. Once you enter you can't leave? Are you really holding me hostage in a club?
    3. The dance floor is the size of my tinnnyyyass apartment + there is a plethora of creepy and SHORT dudes. Pretty sure this one group of guys just stood and danced in a circle around us for a good 30 mins. Either grow some balls and ask to dance (which we would have rejected since majority of girls had BFs) or back the eff off!!
    4. The tables are roped off so every time we wanted to go to the bathroom or the dance floor we had to loop around. Def not efficient.
    5. We can't take our drinks with us out of the club and into the casino? Are you freakin' serious?

Would give 0 stars if that was an option, but it's not.

After spending 1000$ (it was my wifes birthday) in the restaurant they didn't let us in the club, so we had to go and wait in the line outside of the restaurant, and we had to pay to get in !
When we asked the waitress if we can just go downstairs to the nightclub she said no, and she said that restaurant and nightclub different things so they can legally get away with it.  Ah girl, that's not what I was asking.
Food was OK, nothing special. Service was OK.
How could you make us pay for the nightclub and make us wait in the line , when we just spend almost 1K in the restaurant owned by same company.

    SHAME ON YOU GUYS!

So i went to Shrine on a Friday night it was pretty packed. We arrived late like 12:30 am. There were tons of older women dressed like 21 year olds. I will never get that 30 minutes of my life back. The club charges 20 dollars for guys and 10 for women. Grey goose and Red bull was like 8 bucks a drink i think,,, and i asked for water because it was so damn loud in there and my throat hurt from yelling... so they dont have tap water.. yeah okay... more like "we want your money so you have to buy a bottle of water instead". The music was crappy and a lot of the people were so gross. The staff was kinda annoying too... i dont think i will go back....

Nice atmosphere, below average service, small portions and pricey for what you get. Have never been to an Asian restaurant with no doggie bag to take home. General Tso'schicken tasted more like sweet and sour chicken which was very disappointing.  Pork in the pork fried rice was way overcooked.  Not sure why I am rating this a 3 maybe should be a 2

Very average food and service- portion sizes small- they got our dessert orders wrong and had no apologies to offer at all and made us feel like we made the error...  I guess what do we expect from a Foxwoods restaurant?

Another review for the night club only.

    Night: Saturday
    Occasion: Bachelorette Party
    Group size/demographics: 7 women age 30ish

Cover: $20 but arrive before 10pm and its free. We got there at 9:50pm.

Drinks: WEAK. I had 7 cocktails and could have responsibly driven a busload of kindergarteners to a petting zoo. Word of advice: do shots. Those are chintzy too.  Also, water is only free at the start of the night, towards midnight they make you pay for bottled water (maybe they think you're getting enough water in your cocktails since they fill them with ice until its spilling over the rim?) Also very weird: you have to have finished your drink before you get to take a shot. Pretty annoying when you try to buy a round of shots for your group you have to wait for all 7 people to be done their drink. Then once you do the shot you have no drink at all so you have to all get new ones. Nice trick!

Crowd: When we arrived I looked around and at 5'8" plus high heels I felt like Gulliver in a sea of Lilliputians. That includes men, sadly. Before the end of the night some average sized people did make their way in. Club was about 30% bachelorette parties, 20% trannylicious Kardashian wannabes with fedoras and indoor sunglasses in the "VIP" taking photos of themselves making duckface all night, 30% lone drunk creeps ranging in age from college to about 60 trying to discreetly hump any female on the dancefloor, and weirdly, about 20% paid STAFF (either a dude in a suit or a female in a painful looking push up bra/ satin corset/bootyshorts ensemble) there was about one staff member per 3 square feet inside the club. Mostly all were guarding the VIP areas from the unwashed masses.

VIP area (I checked, 2 bottle minimum and they're charging $400 a bottle for Smirnoff!!! no thankssss) comprised the entire upstairs and about half the club divided by ropes. For most of the night the VIP was empty while the rest of the club was like a sweaty sardine box. My friend got yelled at by a trashy VIP patron because while dancing her arm went over the rope. I screamed at my friend "how dare you!" and that was the end of that.

Club would be better if there was more space and less VIP area. Even before 10 the dancefloor was so packed you could not move more than your shoulders.

Music was decent even though the DJ had ADD and played only about 10 seconds of each song before "mixing" it into another. He must have run out of songs because he played the same set twice during the 4 hours we were there. In the last hour, he introduced a horribly jarring/deafening Mack Truck horn sound effect that he would lay on like he was sitting in rush hour traffic. It was not one of those fun party sounds, it was like holy s, why are you doing that?

IF YOU ARE NOT STAYING AT THE HOTEL DO NOT EXPECT TO GET A CAB AFTER .  IT TOOK US 2 HOURS SITTING OUTSIDE - no exaggeration. We were staying up the street at the Mariott cause the rooms are larger and nicer. At 2am when we left the club we assumed there would be cabs lined up outside. In the space of 90 minutes, only FIVE CABS came by the MGM. Those five refused to take any people standing outside and waited there until some (I assume VIP) single male came outside, jumped in and sped away.

By 3:30 - 4am it looked like something out of "The Road" out there. Clans of people were wandering barefoot and angry around the valet area, sitting on bellman's carts, screaming, attempting to bribe the shuttle drivers to take them home, we were like an hour from people fashioning spears out of their stilettos and killing each other for a cab. The staff at MGM were no help. One guy we tipped to call us a cab took the money and disappeared. No cab ever came. 3 different staffers said theyd called us cabs and it would be there in 20min. We got a cab after 90 minutes standing there, and not all of us could fit. The next group waited a total of TWO HOURS. They got the same driver as us. What the HELL is wrong with this place? There is nothing in the entire area but the two casino complexes, how are there NO cabs on a Saturday night when both complexes have huge clubs???

on a recent trip to Foxwoods for dinner with friends my husband and I got out voted. We wanted to go to Shrine so we arrived a little early and went to the bar for a few drinks and an appetizer.
We picked the calamari, which was amazing! I like calamari but its hard to find an unique preparation. Its alway tossed with hot peppers and olive oil or just with marinara, which has gotten very boring.
Shrines calamari was tossed in a ginger peanut sauce and baby tomatoes. the ginger and peanuts were a perfect compliment to the fried calamari yumm!
I am definitely planning another visit (we live and hour away) to try the rest of the menu!

Love the Fried Calamari Crunch appetizer - so unique and absolutely delicious, I would go back just for that.  We had a party of 11 - everyone was pleased and the sushi that I sampled was great.  Mashed potato sticks were a big hit.  Quick service and they were overly attentive.  The "premium bowls" drinks are $48, but well worth it for 4 people, they're huge, tasty and strong.

This is the story of what happens when places think they can get away with terrible service:

I was in communications for many weeks with a Mr. John Cammarata, Director of VIP Services at Shrine inside the MGM at Foxwoods in CT. We were planning a bachelorette party for one of my friends. I asked him to send me a price for the event. We were planning the event for Saturday, May 31st. At first John quoted me a price of $400 to cover all of our drinks, our entrance to the club, and our own private area. A few e-mails later, John realized I was actually talking about a Saturday night and changed the price to $900. I pointed this out to John and he apologized and lowered the price to $800. He seemed very confused about what he was quoting me. I verified with him, over the course of several e-mails, that this $800 would include specific types of alcohol I had requested, our entrance to the club, and our own private area for the evening. John always had very short responses but did verify that the $800 would include whatever 3 alcohols we choose and all of the previously mentioned amenities. John also confirmed these beverages would be waiting for us on our arrival Saturday, May 31st.

On the evening of May 31st, myself and 11 other girls entered the club, Shrine, and the drinks were not actually waiting for us. We had ordered a bottle of Patron, Grey Goose, and Bacardi. None of these drinks were there . It was around 10:30 in the evening and we were told that if we wanted those three liquors the price would be over $1200. Basically, they try to bate and switch you. They give you this excellent price and when you get there - try to charge you hundreds more.. I have e-mailed proof that we were supposed to get those three liquors for $800. I had to speak with the management who refused to give us what they had said they would, even though I had the e-mails with me. John was working that evening and refused to come speak with us. They ended up giving us half of what was agreed upon and for a higher price then agreed upon and forced us to sign the receipt or we wouldn't receive anything. Being that it was a bachelorette party, we were duped and had to except the charges.

Since this event, I have tried to get into communication with everyone over there, including management and they all feel this was an unfortunate event - but offer no resolve or apology. I have been told that the managers of Shrine will call me - and they never have.

C'mon.... First of all , what is the deal with the 1 AM last call.... Not many choices if you are at Foxwoods, spend the extra time and ride off to Atlantic City.

This is a restaurant first and they get good grades for that but the dance club wanna be does not get my vote! Have these owners and promoters ever been to AC or Vegas?? NOT!!!

Foxwoods/MGM has their market on lock since it's customers have no other options.... c'est la vie!!!

I celebrated my sister's bachelorette party here and was happy with my choice. Initially we were getting a table but the total cost of the night was high enough so we ended up with regular admittance. Arriving around midnight on a Saturday, the line was already pretty long. I used my NYC skills and pulled the old, "How long is the wait for 5 girls?" We were immediately let right in.

Its very spacious inside, they spread it out well with tables/dancing areas in the front and back, and a large bar in the middle. The prices were pretty standard, however usually when you buy $100 worth of drinks in one trip and tell the bartender its her bachelorette party he'll at least give her a free shot. My sis got nuthin. Boooo.

The music was aight- perfect for my sister and her friends because it was a mix of old and new school and they don't get to hear it that often. That same "WHATS YOUR ZODIAC SIGN??" mix they play at a lot of places. It got really crowded in the front but the back was still cool and airy.

The girls had a fun time so I was happy we had it there. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but if I'm visiting the casinos again I would.

Lets start simple.  If you have a few hundred bucks that you want to waste....you can come here and you get whatever experience you want to get out of it.

Meanwhile, if you dont have a few hundred dollars to waste, you are grouped with the other mortals of the casino, fighting it out for a spot in the club before 12:30am.

    Some tips:

    - keep expectations low.  the lower the expectations, the less you will get disappointed.
    - dont make "solid" plans to attend the club when you are at the casino. I know for some, this might not make sense, but in all honestly, some nights this place can be hopping, other nights....its best to just walk by. you should always check the scene before hand.
    - the people are hmmmm whats a good term....an interesting bunch? You really have the full specturm of people at this place (and the casino for that mattter).

    1) You have the classic....look at me...i am so cool and have so much money type of guy....although in reality its more like i had to pawn my chains just to make rent type rich. I usually saw the more jewelry they are wearing, the more poor they really are.  Also the more gel in their hair, the more lame they are.  In general, those tests work pretty well most of the time.
    2) You have the hartford, new haven, providence urban folk that think shrine is like da hot spot in the whole world. Never been out of the northeast i guess. i dont know.
    3) Old people (like over 35). really shouldnt be going out to these type of venues dressed the way they do.
    4) way to many bachelorette parties with women in their 30s and definitely not pleasant to look at.

In summary, there are usually way to many guys here...like usually 3 to 1 guy/girl ratio at most times.  That is one reason the line is so long.  Its all guys and then they complain they cant get in. Well duh....

best thing to do if you are in a group of guys is to split up and make friends with 1 or 2 girls either around the casino or even in line, you at least will have a shot of getting in.

Shrine is a high-class Asian kitchen, lounge, and nightclub located in the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.  Had reservations (highly recommended) for dinner here with a group of twelve.  We were promptly seated in a cozy corner booth near a window overlooking the casino below.  Dimly lit with red, orange, and yellow lighting, the atmosphere settled us in for a classy night of dinner and drinks.

Waitstaff was extremely attentive and efficient.  Quick with answers and suggestions regarding our orders, easily explaining the rules, and putting as little restriction on our activity there as possible.  Rules such as one drink at a time and explanations regarding meal size and description were very helpful.

I enjoyed a Shrine Zombie drink, Steamed Edamame, and Authentic Wok Fried Rice with American Wagyu Beef for approximately $40.  DELICIOUS!  Simply the best Fried Rice I have ever tasted in my life.  The combination of the flavors and sauce sent a large bowl full rushing into my stomach with no regard to satiety.  I heard equally as marvelous reviews from the group.

As a side note. . . with connections to the kitchen a round of delicious appetizers may be on your way, complimentary of the chef himself.  We enjoyed Lobster Rangoons and a Salmon dish for free!

I would love to visit the nightclub portion of this establishment on a future visit to Foxwoods.  The temptation between clubbing and gambling is high!

For a club in a hotel in the middle of Connecticut, Shrine's got it going on.

From the cavernous interior, to the boogey-down crowd, to the hottie go-go dancers shakin' their thangs atop the speaker boxes and other perches, this restaurant-by-day, club-by-night spot is the definitely the place to be when the sun goes down at the MGM.

Though I can't say this is my regular scene (my club days are all but a distant---and fun--memory), we definitely made a night of it at Shrine, complete with bottles and a VIP table. Besides the super-premium price tags (higher than most NYC lounges), the only downside to the service is that pesky law which forces the waitress to pour all your drinks for you!

Alas, after we'd danced all night and drank a ton of overpriced liquor, it was comforting to know that we didn't have to call a cab in the freezing weather...we need only to stumble to the elevator and remember which hotel room was ours!

As a preface of this review let me first say that I give it 5 stars solely based on the nightclub aspect of it.  And as the 5 star rating reads "Woohoo! As good as it gets!"... I mean hear in Connecticut.  This is a well designed club, it's got a huge lounge area with couches and beds, (yes beds) to host a more laid back night if you don't want to be a slave to the dance floor.  Bottle service isn't too expensive.  Less than Vegas, but a little more than Ultra 88 in Mohegan but a much classier club to boot!  Drinks aren't overpriced, no more than you'd pay at a good restaurant in New Haven or Hartford.

The resident DJ "Chachi" gets the crowd pumped with his wide range of remixed tunes that he spins through out the night.

Various celebrities are often hosting parties here, Diddy, Carmen Electra, Dave Navarro, DJ Skribble, Krooklyn Klan, DJ Jazzy Jeff, etc.
