The food was really good, I had the French dip sandwich.  The service, however, was horrible.  The waitress walked past me 3 times when I had an empty water glass, then when I got her attention and asked for more water, she brought me tea.  After that, my friend asked for a SODA refill, she got iced tea dumped on top of what was left of her soda.  The waitress dropped our drinks off and was gone before we could ask for the correct drinks.

Was passing through Marysville and needed a bit of dinner before I hit the road again.  People told me I should check this historic brothel/bar out.  I was happy I did, pleasant server (Shy), great decor (Annie Oakley's saddle hiding behind the TV), historic displays and animal heads all around!!  The funniest display was in the men's room, check it out when you are here ;-)

I decided to get something simple, their chicken strips were great.  They did take a while to arrive, but the cook gave me extra garlic bread and fries (which was nice, but the bread really wasn't anything to write home about), I think it came with fries and I got a drink (which was promptly refilled when I needed it).

Atmosphere great, I will definitely come here again, especially in the early evening when apparently there is an impromptu tour of the upstairs brothel.  Seems like a lot of locals come here after work on weekdays for a drink on their way home, don't know what happens on weekends.

Silver Dollar is a little gem of a saloon in a city otherwise basically devoid of pleasant bars. My fiancé and I visited Silver Dollar with his mom, who was kind enough to buy us dinner.

My fiancé and I ordered burgers while his mom ordered their famous steak. My burger was fresh-tasting and juicy, as was my fiancé's. The steak that his mom ordered was cooked to perfection and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. While the prices can be between reasonable and high for dinner at Silver Dollar, I consider the food to be worth it, though I agree with some other reviewers that the French fries aren't the greatest of the foodstuffs they have.

Service at Silver Dollar is usually good, though not always attentive enough as others have mentioned. For a bar, I think this place has perfectly fine service. My company and I had our drinks and food delivered within a half an hour, and we were asked once if we were doing alright (which we were), and then our check was brought to us a little while later. We did go on a Thursday night when it wasn't the busiest, but then again, most bar-restaurants won't have quick service on a Friday or a Saturday night, so keep that in mind.

Atmosphere-wise, this place is kind of awesome! The bar at Silver Dollar is decked out in old coins, and there is a display of all kinds of barbed wire that was used in the past which is highly interesting. I recall seeing a mechanical bull too, which added an endearing corniness to the vibe of this old Western-style saloon. I'd recommend a visit if you're in the area!

We came here with a group to do a "ghost tour" of the place. Supposedly the place is haunted and the owner of the saloon took us on a grand tour. This place used to be a brothel and there are numerous rooms upstairs and a bar, probably where the men and women socialized. It's an interesting place with a dark and interesting past.

Now for the food, the steak sandwich was delish! I had mayo and that's about the only thing it needed. The fried pickles were out of this world, the saloon is very laid back, nothing fancy. It's kind of remnant to what you find in an old western movie. Get the picture?

Sad to say, we didn't see any ghosts or see any activity. If you ask the owner about the saloon, he'd be glad to tell you all about it. As for the owner, very nice, laid back guy!

This is a really fun place to go. We love the old west decore.. the old bar and all the history! Just ask the bartender and they will give you a history lesson. The food is always good, never had a bad meal. They have a salad bar too. Music on the weekends.. is fun too. We just had burgers there for the first time last week.. OMG my blue cheese burger was so amazing. It was WAY too much food for me.... hubby got half a burger when he got home. I was very impressed! Sure was a great tasting burger and wow was the display on the plate impressive! Almost needed a bigger plate! I love the old town Marysville feel and this resturant/bar really HAS IT. Check it out for a fun experience!

This place used to have good food, service yet still the best place to people watch,hahaha...such as: weirdos/marysville finest/tweekers/one night standers/quickies and grown ups stuck in a time warp lol.

Im not sure they are under new management or should be!! The waitress is the bar tender and cashier. And possibly the cook too... Cause the food has gone down hill the past 2-3yrs. Theres a few people walking around like chickens w/their heads cut off while the waitress is doing everythg.

My husband & I have dinner at the Silver Dollar about once a month. We almost always have the same things. He has a bacon cheese burger & I have tri tip dinner with sauteed vegetables . We both have onion rings. The onion rings are the best!  Portions are generous & prices are reasonable. Servers & bartenders have personality. We are never disappointed!

I took a friend out to dinner at the Silver Dollar on Wed at 5pm on July 11, 2012.

First the place has so much history when you walk in. Its not like going into a diner that as walmart pictures hanging up. No, this place has over 100 years of ambiance.

Our waiter was Joe.  A very high spirited young man full of energy. He is a perfect fit for the job. He brought us our drinks and took our appetizer order for shrimp cocktail. It tasted great and was a nice cool refreshing app for a hot day!

    Next came out our dinners.
I had the big Rib Eye steak at about 18 ounces. My date ordered the same meal with the exception that she is a low carb person and they were very accomodating to her needs. I thought that was very exceptional. Both our steaks were almost hanging off the platters. I could cut my steak with a fork. Does that tell you how tender it is? I had some summer vegetable medley that was cooked just right. I also had a baked potatoe. She of  course ended up taking over half her steak home. Me, I ate almost every bite but I just couldnt finish it as it was so big.

For dessert: Couldnt tell you as I didnt get any :-( I was way too full from the dinner.

Overall how was our experience? The Silver Dollar Rocks!  The food is reasonably priced. Its the BEST food around. Ribs are bar none the best. Anyways if you are looking to take a hot date to a night out with the family. Its a great place to go. They also have a patio outside where smokers can go or you can sit out there and have a cocktail. I have not found a better place to eat in our entire area. If its a special dinner I go to the Silver Dollar because I know its gonna end right! Plus, show me another bar in our entire area where the owners let the bartenders actually pour their own drinks and arent restricted by a machine. Heavy at the beginning of the night and lighter as the night goes on so you dont get too sloshed. That is how a bartender is supposed to do it and they let them do it at the Silver Dollar.

Lastly, they have an awesome place upstairs that you can rent out as well. What better  place to hold a recital dinner, anniversary dinner, etc. When you go upstairs, thats when you really get the feel for all the history the place has. Anyways if you have never been or you have always just wanted to go then the time is now. Friday and Saturday nights it rocks from like 9pm on. So if you got a date then a good time to go is around 7 to 8. If its a family meal I would go from 5-8. You will not find a better meal or service in our area.

    Okay...

I'm a local Downtown business owner and  I thought I help keep our money in the Marysville Downtown...

I'm not a big fan of Bars so I won't rate the atmosphere but I will say it was one of the most hoppin places I've seen in the Yuba-Sutter area on a Saturday night!  If you like Biker/Cowboy style bars check this place out!

Now for the food and service...

I've heard all the rumors about the delicious steak served here and elaborate menu of deep fried delights... The place didn't disappoint! had the Wrangler Cut (11oz Rib-Eye) and it was cooked to "Medium" perfection as I requested.  Nice and pink but didn't have a heartbeat... Good flavor and nice char... Steamed veggies, garlic bread and fries.  Nice portions, Im a big guy and I left full.  Deep Fried Pickles were a big hit but be careful they stay really hot for a while. You should have seen us burning our mouths and still goin at em!

I am always amazed at how people rate the level of service at a place.  Hello it's a Bar!  If you want Matradee Level Service... Go to an upscale place that has that kind of thing ( and a higher price tag to boot ) but if you are looking for a place with smiles, laughs, "Good Food" and affordability you've found it in the Silver Dollar.

Friendly staff.... remembered me by name... very attentive and gave us pitchers of soda and water so we wouldnt run dry and the waitress wouldn't run ragged getting us multiple refills!

Next time we hit up the Rib Dinner or the Clamper Platter!

    Well Done Guys!

Service is non-exsistant! No bartender, no waitress. Went there on a Thursday and all the staff was busy screwing off or signing up for karaoke. Won't go back.

My 19 year-old son and I agree on this place. It is loud, but the food is good. An earlier post talked about slow service. You have to realize that there are more people on the planet besides you. If you walk in the place and it's crowded, you gotta understand that those people ordered ahead of you, and they are supposed to get their food first. The food is worth the wait. I am not usually a quesadilla kind of person unless it has multiple ingredients. The quesadilla at the Silver Dollar is one of the best I've ever had. You must try it. It is not a kiddie quesadilla. It has bite and pizazz. Give the Silver Dollar a try.

I love that this place is so old and still around. It's like going back in time. The place is clean, the food was great, the drinks were tasty and the customer service was awesome. Check this place out!

Awesome Joint. My wife and I met another couple there for dinner then drinks. Let me cut to the chase. We had fried pickles for an appetizier and they were w/o a doubt the best I've ever had. Really good app if youve never had them. My wife had a tri tip sandwich that was awesome. It had roasted red peppers loaded on it. I had a double meat combo grilled chicken and tritip dinner. They were both delicious and my vegetables on the side were grilled and were also outstanding. Its a bar...remember that...its not a fancy place. But man it was good and I cant wait to go back!!!

This place has become one of our favorites.  The sticky tables are still there and it's still noisy --it is a bar-- but, I've found the staff to be attentive and the menu to be flexible.  I have been able to get  some modifications that make this a more frequent stop for dinner than previously.

Ok I could tell you that everything will be fine and this will be a good review but it would be BS today!

I went to this place with some co-workers and it is Friday so what could wrong? Hmmm let's hold that thought for a moment. Ok Silver Dollar is in the little downtown section of Marysville. The place has a western theme and the inside actually has little historical displays of the old wild west. Blah blah one bright spot blah blah. Ok back to the what could go wrong thought...

Now we sit at our table and order our food, nothing special our group collectively ordered burgers or sandwiches. Nothing special right? Ok and nooooooow we wait and we waited for ....cue jeopardy music .........still waiting ....dang are ya starving yet? ..... just a little more... wow the whole ESPN sportscenter broadcast. ok.......Freaking close to an hour to get our food. Seriously! Now I am a patient man but these cats were pushing it! We politely ask another server about our food and the order and she snaps hard. So I put out this wanted poster right near the saloon doors: WANTED: Good Customer Service DEAD OR ALIVE! Although our server did make an attempt at making up for it....but we shot up that attempt like the OK Corral. Oh my food: was actually decent but the fries were not tasty at all.  Dang how can you mess up fries?

However COMMA the service blows... really blows (in bed).......big chunks. So our group paid and left to never return here again. Our waitress tip? Yea she got a tip: Don't eat yellow snow. Oh did I mention that the service sucks? Well safe to say I probably will never eat here again.

Before I dive into this review, I'd like to note that I would honesty like to give this establishment a better review, because it is a decent place, and a staple in downtown Marysville. But based on three respective Saturday night experiences, I feel the place could use some improvement in a few areas, at least as far as the bar experience goes.

First, I'll start off with the positive: the Silver Dollar has a classic, country bar/saloon feel to it. Polished wooden tables with a mix of wood and metal chairs, while the bar itself has a clean finish, embedded with countless silver dollars. It doubles as a restaurant during the day, focusing on classic American meals (sandwiches, hamburgers, barbequed ribs and pulled pork); the food is decent. The bar itself maintains a good selection of liquor, and it's one of the few places in Marysville that stocks both Jameson and Bushmills (regular-grade, not the single malts or the aged ones). Admittently, the beer selection could be better (American-style lagers, Corona, Pacifico, as well as Sierra Nevada), but not bad.

Now with the bad: quality of service is questionable, and by that, I mean hit or miss. Weekdays are generally good with minimal wait time. With that said, Friday and Saturday nights are often the busiest nights, so it is understandable that it may take a little while to get a drink. But my biggest pet peeves is when bartenders have tunnel-vision; it seems their focus is either on attractive members of the opposite sex or on who they recognize as large tippers.

Part of the problem may stem from a lack of bartenders on shift at peak hours (there were two on shift from 9:00 pm to 12:00 pm), so service slows to a perpetual crawl. But not only did I get passed several times waiting at the bar (with money in hand); they passed over several regulars as well. This is a bartending "no-no," and a quick way to lose regulars, who often do tip well and return often.

Another good rule of thumb for the bartenders here: do not serve up drinks like Tom Cruise in Cocktail at peak hours. I'll admit that it looks impressive, but when it takes time away from serving drinks, leave it off to the side until the crowd slows down a bit.

As I've stated before, I'd like to give the Silver Dollar a better rating due to the positives, but the weaknesses identifed keep me from doing so. I like the feel of this place overall, but the service could use considerable improvement.  I don't think I'll return to this place anytime soon, but I won't dismiss it outright in the future.

If you have an affinity for fried foods, this is your place. It's not my kind of place to be honest. I'm a vegetarian who dislikes deep friend things, therefore it left me feeling really sickly (mainly b/c fried stuff never agrees with me).  One thing I can say is, the drinks were stiff! And pretty cheap!

Kind of a biker bar place with expensive drinks, beers, and menu items.  I don't mind paying extra on the food but bilking your customers for a few extra bucks at the bar on the drinks gets a little ridiculous with the number of bars in downtown Marysville.

They do offer live entertainment usually on Saturday nights in the form of a jazz or country band which is kinda cool.

The food is pretty good.  The service at the bar can suck at times depending on how busy it is.  Seems like they have more people working in the back for the restaurant and waiting tables and they don't have anyone to spare to help the bartender when customers are lined up and down it from end to end.  It's a little frustrating having to wait forever, pay way too much for a drink, and then be expected to leave a tip.  Ha...

They decor and the history of the bar is cool.  Very historic and antique which makes for a nice atmosphere...

One of the few bars in this area that I'm not actively afraid to go to. It's nice, clean, and the staff is friendly. The food is good and I highly recommend the pulled-pork sandwich. I like that until 10pm it's a restaurant AND bar so anyone under 21 can come in. (Which is nice when you're throwing a 21st birthday party and not everyone in attendance is over 21).  If you're in the area for one of the local parades or events this is definitely the place to stop by.

I have lived in Marysville for over 25 years and have seen this establishment change hands more than a dollar bill. (no pun intended) As far as the food goes, sometimes it's over the top excellent and sometimes it just blows. But that can be said of a lot of places when the "good cook" has a day off or is on a smoke break when your order hits the kitchen.
The beer is always cold and the cocktails generous. Not my first choice for dinner nowadays.

This was our favourite wattering hole and eatery when we first moved here.
The drinks were good, the bartenders and locals were incredible friendly and helpful and the food can be great.
The interior is like an Old West Saloon meets Applebees.
Not because of Applebees menu, but more for their "putting a whole bunch of random shit on the walls and ceiling" decor.
The antique bar has tons of silver dollars layered under a million coats of varnish and despite that you can tell more than one drunk douchebag has tried to excavate them from the bar top.
There's an outdoor patio for those who smoke, and management has kindly put a TV in the window so one doesn't have to miss their team due to their evil vice.
The patio is also covered which is nice for keeping off the rain but even nicer in the summer when it's a million and one degrees outside.
The only drawback is the flies and the myriad of fly strips hanging from the shade supports.
I have watched more than one drunk woman with big mall hair get her mop tangled with one of those sticky fly coated streamers.
Thoughtfully the management also leaves flyswatters on the tables to one can casually swat the little buzzing menaces while drinking and smoking.
    Now for the food...
Get there early.  The earlier the better cause I've had the Tequila Lime Chicken 3 times now and the last time it was dry and flavourless.  Apparently the amount of tequila that goes into the chicken depends on how much goes into the chef.
I'm guessing that last time the chef had way more tequila in him than my chicken which totally affected the quality of the food.
Me and the Old Man have both had the ribs which were so good that all pretense of civility left us and we ate like cannibals gnawing on femurs.
I'm hoping our last visit was an aberration as before it's been about a 4-4.5 experience for us but last visit took it down to a 3.  All I can say is get there early and hope the cook ain't too cooked.
