The place was very good and kind of a hidden gem of wineries within the front range. Unlike most winery tasting rooms that are located in a warehouse this was in a relaxed, well decorated room that had a very inviting feel. As for the wine they are very good and have a good selection of both red and white. My only complaint was that a lot of the wines were a little too sweet for my liking but that is just preference. It was my second time going there so I had no issue making a repeat visit and would not hesitate to go again.
Review Source:A warm, homey, welcoming atmosphere awaits visitors to Silver Vines. Â There are plenty of tables for groups of people to enjoy and a large bar for those who prefer to chat with the staff. Â
Silver Vines offers several whites and reds along with a few dessert wines. Â You can choose wines by the glass or a flight of 3 wines for $8. Â Out of the wines in our flight, we enjoyed the Syrah and the Grandview Reserve. Â Smooth and nice flavor.
If you're hungry, they also offer a couple of different cheese plates.
Silver Vines sources their grapes from California regions and a few from the Colorado Palisade area as well. Â While they take credit cards - tips are cash only, so plan accordingly!
I love wine and would consider myself pretty well versed in it. That said, basically all the wines here are very sweet. They're good, but it's a pretty basic pallet.
This place is up the street from my house and I've been a few times, but only once have I had good service. Every other time, I've waiting for at least 20mins before someone came to take an order and trying to get a second round? That took even longer.
That said, the ambiance is amazing and 3 tasters for $5 is a heck of a deal! Go during the summer festivals when they have a "patio" out front and, as long as you're waiting, you'll have plenty to watch.
I hope they get the service act together soon, because this could be a really amazing place!
4 stars for atmosphere and ambiance. 2 stars for the wine we sampled. Â Maybe we got some bad bottles; it was one of the few times I've ever left half a glass of wine at the bar.
Went in on Saturday night to redeem a Living Social voucher that was near expiration. Â The deal was good for 4 glasses of wine and a bottle of wine. Â We tried all reds - Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Grandview Reserve (blend). Â The after taste was very vinegar/alcohol-y. Â We ended up with the bottle of Pinot Noir because it was the lesser of evils. Â
If you purchase a glass of wine, it's a big pour. Â Kind of wish we would have paid the $5 and tried more samples instead of leaving 2 glasses of wine. Â I'm typically a red wine drinker, but sometimes when I don't like the reds at a local winery, I can handle their whites. Â
It would be a cute place to host a bridal or baby shower type of event. Â It seems more like a wine bar rather than a winery, but the place feels warm and inviting. Â Based on my visit, I would not come back just for the wine though.
The good stuff: such a nice and cozy interior. I loved how they kept original features intact, like the wood beam ceiling and exposed brick wall. Â The staff are very friendly as well. The not so good stuff: unfortunately, the wine. Â I sampled all but 3 red varietals, and they really lacked flavor and quality. The Riesling was so-so. Also, i noticed that the cheese/olive/salami tray was created from costco down the street!. So disappointing. How about some more adventurous cheeses?!?! They were the pre sliced kind that costco sells in those big packages. Hmmmm....i think Arvada is screaming for a quality wine bar, but apart from the ambience, this place leaves a lot to be desired.
Review Source:If I had the good fortune to open my own tasting room, I'd do it up just like this one. Â LOVE the exposed brick walls, the lighting, the high top tasting tables and the floor to ceiling built-in wine boxes. Â (The restroom is beautiful, too!) Â The hubby and I stopped in for a tasting before dinner last night. Â We ordered a flight of whites and a flight of reds (3 pours/$5). Â I'm more of a red wine fan but found that I really enjoyed their Chardonnay (it was unoaked) and their Pinot Grigio. Â I wanted to ask about how the Chardonnay was fermented, but the guy that was pouring seemed a bit distracted and... um... seemed to have been sampling the wares based on his glassy eyes and slurred speech (can you blame him? No.). Â However, when I did manage to flag him down, he was fairly articulate and able to speak knowledgeably about their process and where they buy their grapes, etc. Â We walked out of there with a half case (buy 5/get one free) of their Pinot Grigio and Merlot. Â This is a great little tasting room reminiscent of wineries in Sonoma. Â (My only criticism is that their background music playlist could be updated.) Â I can see coming back here after work with friends for a couple glasses before heading over to Udi's for dinner.
Review Source:Two brothers, three states and one dream.
Sounds more like an off Broadway play than the opening of a small winery in Arvada Colorado.
But that's what brother's Danny and Jeff Chayer just did last December. Calling Minnesota their home, they found themselves somehow making wine in Washington and Texas, and like Peaches and Herb, they reunited, moved to Colorado and opened up a charming, quaint winery called Silver Vines.
You won't find rolling hills and acres of old vine grapes growing outside. Nope, downtown Arvada covenants, climate and concrete won't allow for that. But you will find the wine made from grapes brought in from Oregon and Washington, and a fun friendly atmosphere. Danny was more than happy to show you us their wine making and bottling process, along with a great explanation of the wines.
They have gained a pretty good following; they host events, have their own wine club and are even involved in the local community, as well as charities. (Ask about the Pink and Blue label wines designed to raise money for those cancer patients who can't afford their treatments).
This is just one of those feel good places as soon as you walk in. Their wines selection varies from a 2010 Chardonnay to a 2008 Syrah and plenty in between, including a Chocolate Delight port. They were just checking on their Pinot Noir and brought out a small sample to taste.
I actually found this place on Yelp, using the "Hot New Business" search button. My wife, her girlfriend and I stopped in for an afternoon of pre-birthday quaffing and celebration and definitely will return.
They don't serve food, but you can bring in, or order from any take out in the area and have your own indoor picnic. They do offer cheese plates to pair with your wine.
Give it a try, you'll have fun, meet some new friends and maybe find a new favorite wine.
I just wanted to put in a great word for a great place in Olde Town Arvada: Silver Vines Winery. Danny took me on a spontaneous tour and booked our next event there. He was so congenial  and enthusiastic. It was good that I got in there when I did, because they just about have the next four months fully booked! I cannot wait to do our event there!
Review Source:Before heading up to Arvada I checked in to see what my fellow Yelpers were saying, all seemed like we were in for a treat so up North we headed.
We tried every wine available and I will say that, especially for only having 5 years in the industry under their belt, these brothers are doing great work!
Most are not textbook correct varietally, but what wine is these days?
They were well balanced, tannins were mellow in the reds and the Cab truly is not as dry or severe as everyone is making it out to be. The Grandview Reserve was my hands down favorite, followed closely by the Pinot Grigio!
My one disappointment was in the service, while friendly enough, there was not enough knowledge or interaction to assuage my sommelier in training's questions, this was from both the wine pourer and brothers who were in and out of the winery.
Interaction with customers is key, most will just want basics but will appreciate the "masters" of the domain taking the time to stop and say hi.
The winery itself is beautiful, old historic building converted several times over but still retains its elegance and personality and has been enhanced by subtle smart design choices of Silver Vines.
Overall, we would head here again and would encourage all others to do so!
This is a gorgeous winery and tasting room with lots of space for a group and very friendly service.
I had been meaning to drop in here for a while. So, when I saw the $5 tasting sign out front after an errand at Penzey's Spice Shop, I just had to check it out.
The winery is really impressive, a long bar for tasting solo and lots of tables for bringing friends. There is even a long group table in the back. It's just a comfortable place to drink some wine and chat.
The ladies who were working the night I dropped in were so friendly. I was the only person at the bar and they kept me company while I tried my flight.
Food: They only serve cheese plates here. But, you are welcome to bring in your own food/snacks or order-in.
Wine: I just did a 3 tasting flight ($5). The Cabernet is nice, definitely on the dry end of the Cab spectrum. The Grand Reserve is fantastic, very fruit forward as compared to the Cab. And, if you like truly powerful reds, go for the Syrah.
I will most certainly be back, with friends and snacks in tow!
I walked by this cute little tasting room a few weeks back and had to stop in. Â First off, 3 tastings for $5 is not a bad deal...especially when you're a lightweight like me. Â Second, who can resist great ambience and wine? Not me...that's who.
Silver Vines is a winery owned by two brothers and they are very proud of their product. And rightly so. I was impressed by all three options I chose - the Chardonnay, the Syrah and the Chocolate wine. Yes, I said chocolate wine. It's the best of both worlds.
One of the brothers was working that evening and we chatted with him for awhile. Â he even took us for a quick tour to see their bottling operation which is done BY HAND in the back room. Wow. Talk about initiative.
Please support these brothers and their delicious libations. I know I'll be back!
Great for: small meetings, girls' nights, book club meetings, date night, best friends playing catch-up
Rich, complex cab that can easily be consumed now or for years to come. Â Open for just 8 days and hoping they'll put a fireplace and couches along the west wall. Â Wonderfully tasteful cement floors and all around decore. Â The 80's music could use an upgrade. Â Perfect addition for olde town!
Review Source:New winery up in Old Town Arvada, very cool upscale tasting room. Â They are making their own vino sourced from Colorado, California, Oregon and New Mexico grape. Â They have several varitals, I particularly enjoyed the cab sauvignon, syrah and Merlot but also had plenty of white wines to taste. Â They do serve a small cheese plates so you have something to nibble on when tasting as well.
