This place is a great neighborhood bar! Its not meant to compete with a full on restaurant like WoodnTap like I saw other people mention in their reviews. That being said, the panini's are fabulous. The owners are awesome, Goldie is like the COOLEST guy ever. Â They have a really sweet back deck area and they do have a pretty cool crowd in there any given night. Â I like that its got its own niche, not the snot level of the Half Door. Â Its a definite bonus to the West End, making the pub crawl in the summer from Spigot to Sisson Tav down to West Wings that much more enjoyable!
Review Source:I wanted to like this place so much more than I actually did. Â Our service was eh. Â The food was eh. Â The nachos were not nachos. Â They were chips with dip. Â One of my companions got her food about 10 minutes after we all finished ours. Â I just can't get behind this place as anything more than a good location for Wood n Tap spillover. Â Prove me wrong, Sisson Tavern. Â I'll be back someday.
Review Source:I thought this place was okay. Looks pretty cool from the outside. Nice, new, spacious and clean interior with 3 flat panel TVs. Real slow for a Saturday night, but they're new, and it's Hartford, so not too surprising. Server was very friendly.
Sandwiches are $7.00. I got an Italian combo panini w/ a cup of Tortelloni on the side and I thought it was pretty good. Between the four of us, for two or three rounds of drinks, a couple of Jamesons and two sandwiches, the bill came to about 48 bucks. Not bad at all, especially considering I'd already thrown down at least that much, if not more, down at the Half Door before coming here, and the last thing you want to see towards the end of the night is a big bill. Overall, I'd say it was a good experience. Some more people there would've made it better.
A classic 1930's tavern, newly remodeled and opened. Great beer selection; signature "smoking" (with dry ice) drinks. The owners are super friendly, lunch is the best deal in town: 5.00 sandwiches, $2.00 drafts.
Try the fried chicken sandwich, or the meat loaf. This is where to go to meet friendly people, have beers and food, and get change back from a 20!
