Inexpensive but not great BBQ.
I really wanted to like this place and I'm from Chicago so I've gotten used to disappointments in Peoria. Â In this particular case I think you can do better in Peoria by going to the BBQ chain restaurant Hickory River.
The food was bland and, as another reviewer pointed out, overly gristly. Â I had the ribs and the brisket withe cole slaw and baked beans. Â I guess if you had to eat in the mall it isn't a bad choice.

Average BBQ. Â I got a rib tips and chicken strips dinner. Â The chicken was really good. Â Nice and crispy. Â the rib tips were full of gristle and a pain to eat (what's the point of getting just the tips if you can't just pop 'em in your mouth?). Â The beans weren't anything good, but the fries were alright. Â Could be way better.
Review Source:Eh. Â We really wanted to like this place. Â It seems to be family-owned and that's always a nice thing, especially in a bbq place. Â The mall location (where the food court is gross) makes it an appealing option. Â Sadly, the food was so-so: dry, tasteless brisket, sad-looking salad, and the sauce... well, it's not even on the table. Â You have to ask for it and then they just give you a tiny plastic container. Â One of our tablemates seems to like his wrap sandwich, but that's the best we can say.
Minor thing: The tables are tiny, so it was a tight, uncomfortable fit for four. Â My husband kept hitting his knees, too.
I'm not sure how long this has been there so maybe it needs time to get its legs. Â Again, I'd want to like it better. Â But until then, Famous Dave's is a better bet.
