Used to be my favorite bar/bartender in town. I was bummed when I last went in there and found out he skipped town... This new guy though... Jesus...
Can't blame him for the entire drink menu being gone. Not his fault. Here's what I will blame him for:
So I order a martini from the tattooed guy, tell him to just dust the ice with the vermouth, basically throw it in the shaker and throw it back out. He is incredibly confused and asks me what I mean, I tell him "just go light on the vermouth."
He tries to explain to me that their martini generally is strong on the vermouth. I tell him "Right, well, I am telling you to go light on the vermouth, this is how I am ordering my drink."
He nods and goes ahead and makes it, not before getting into a huge discussion about Air Jordans and how much he spends a year on them for his and his family, etc, etc. Finally gets around to making my drink hands it over to me, and its totally not what I ordered. I'm disgusted with it and the service, toss back the martini and ask for my bill. He tells me $16 (I had ordered another previously from the other bartender with whom I had absolutely no problem), I give him a twenty. He immediately rings it up and does not give me change back. At this point I don't even want to argue with him or cause a confrontation over my four dollars which I definitely did not want to leave him as a tip because he was terrible.
Everything is gone from this place. Everything. No knowledge, no heart, no soul.
R.I.P. The best kept secret in Corvallis.
My friends and I used to go to the Snug Bar as a treat. However, the bartender is gone. So now is the menu. Thus now is the Bar. Well, it's still there. But the new bartender is frantically trying to keep up, the ambiance is totally different, and while the new 'tender is trying his best, he just isn't our old mixologist.
R.I.P. Snug Bar
Went to the Snugbar with my wife and friends last night and we had a wonderful time. Â It reminded me of a chic undergound European bar, with a variety of seating, low lighting, post-modern decorations, and techno-ish music playing in the background. Â The dim sum was good (not great), but the drinks were delicious! Â The bartender did an amazing job and provided excellent customer service. Â One of us ordered a "Blazing Saddle," and we were delightfully surprised when the bartender lit the alcohol on fire to warm it up and poured the drink back and forth between two cups, which provided quite the fire show! Â Fun night!
