Had my first experience at the So Long Saloon and I hope my next visit isn't So Long from now. Â It is a small place, not Rock A Belly small, but still small. Â Had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table on a Thursday for lunch (July 4th). Â Waitress who took our name asked if we would like something to drink while we waited. Â WOW that was nice and made the wait more enjoyable. Â
Another high point is they have one of my favorite summer beverages on tap...Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy!!! Â Wonderful stuff. Â We had already walked the campus and Aggieville so I had worked up quite a hunger. Â Took a chance on their peanut butter burger....YES, peanut butter. Â It was a perfect combination of the salty burger, sour pickle, sweet peanut butter, and hot siracha. Â Very tasty! Â What I liked was you could get any of their "burgers" with beef, bison, chicken, or portobello mushroom. Â Nice to have options. Â Fries that accompanied were pretty good as well. Â Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal.
Our waitress while very busy was super nice and took good care of us. Â The next time I'm in Manhappenin' I'll definitely stop by the So Long Saloon.
Ohhh my, so delicious! I had their special a queso burger on a pretzel bun, AWESOME! We also had the fried pickles, I have to say the best in Manhattan! This is a must when choosing a place to go for a meal. Just make sure your whole party is there to be seated, you won't get a table until your party is all there.
Review Source:I would venture to say this is my favorite bar in Aggieville. First off, they're a restaurant that serves incredible burgers. Some of the best in town. It's not a trip to So Long's though without some raspberry chipotle black bean dip. I have definitely attempted to recreate the recipe at home but it's still better here by a long shot.
It's small and there's often people waiting outside for a table, but it's absolutely worth it. They have an old Western looking bar with dark wood and mirrors in it that is really a masterpiece in itself. The music is usually good, and if you can get a booth it's the coolest place in the neighborhood.
For drinks I would recommend the Nancy, which is beer and pineapple juice. My friends and I would usually stop in for these at the end of the night. Also, the oatmeal cookie shots are some of the best I've had anywhere. If you're looking for a place in Aggieville to  either eat or drink, this is the place you should be considering!
Checked this place out when I was visiting Manhattan and was not disappointed. The chipotle raspberry black bean dip was out.of.this.world! So much so, that I had to recreate it for my blog.
Also, the BLT? Crispiest bacon you'll ever have. My mom, also known as the queen of the BLT, deemed this one of the best BLT's she's ever had. Their secret? They deep fry the bacon. Genius!
Can you say mouth-gasm?
I can, because when food is this good ... I don't eat it, I make love to it.
I only have one thing to say: You can add a fried egg to your burger!!! (Don't judge me for getting excited about that.)
Okay, two things: The bean dip is like heaven and if anyone has the recipe please don't share it with me ... I will be 300 lbs.
Fun and friendly atmosphere. Little bit of a wait but we were greeted immediately and were served drinks while we waited. Tried the raspberry black bean dip solely because of the Yelp reviews and we all did not care for it at all. The jalapeno cheese dip was wonderful, could of drank it I liked it so much. We all ordered the saloon burger. It was very juicy/greasy but I dont get the reviews it is getting, I felt it was pretty standard. The servers are friendly and quick with the refills. I would come here again maybe for drinks and appetizers.
Review Source:Great place to go for great food! They serve up delicious, juicy burgers, yummy appetizers like the Chipotle Raspberry Bean dip...skip the salads though, they are a big bed of iceberg lettuce--if they were romaine they would be better. Great place to watch sports and a landing spot on weekend nights when you are sick and tired of the usual crowds at other bars in Aggieville. It's nice that this place is family friendly as well during lunch and dinner hours. It is a small space so you might have to wait for a while, but it's worth it!
Review Source:They have some really good friend pickles with this cream cheese mixture dip. Different types of burgers, just look at their site on the page and they have their full menu there. It is a really small bar so seating is limited. Right in The Ville so after you're done eating you can go to the bars or just stay right at that bar. They also have a daily special but are closed on MONDAYS!!!
Review Source:Good food, good price.
Cozy atmosphere. Not a ton of tables, but enough space and variety on the menu for anyone. Decent selection of beers on tap. 4 big TVs, plus *Yee-Haw Industries" art all over the walls (smart, fun folk art). (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yeehawindustries.com&s=4b8878efec3bd0b448193ba7817b969ee627559b18e267f385cfa096efae0385" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.yeehawindustr…</a>) I almost gave So Long a 5 simply because of the amazing Yee-Haw art!
The BBQ wings were only so-so, but everyone else enjoyed their burgers, fries, FRIED PICKLES, etc. Everyone had leftovers. I recommend the "Resist Temptation."
5 people = $68 with tip
We almost changed our mind about dining there because there wasn't any booth seats available. Fortunately, it was a slow Sunday evening and we didn't have to wait long to get seats.
I tried the "Resist Temptation" burger (or that's what I think it's called), sans bacon and it was one of the juiciest burger I've had. Come to think of it, I'm almost convinced that when it comes to beef burgers in Kansas, you can't go wrong.
Service was quick and friendly. I'd go there again.
Best burgers in Manhattan. With a wide variety of toppings/selections especially different meats - beef, buffalo, chicken or black bean, everyone should be able to find something to love here.
Extremely small location. Be prepared to wait for awhile. Not the best place for large groups because of cramped seating.
Possibly the best dish on the menu is the Raspberry Black Bean dip. Doesn't sound very amazing, but try it and you'll love it.
They have the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had and I typically order the Crank it up and Head South Sandwich with Chicken = phenomenal!
Lastly, I am a proud champion of the Cowboy Challenge :)
Place is small yet intimate atmosphere. Better if you come early because seats fill up. Prepare a 20-30 minute wait time. I was told this place had the best burgers in town. A bit misleading in the 2 times I have dined here. The presentation of the food is great. The potato salad I asked for was probably the best I have had. I had the regular so long burger and the one that includes an egg on top. Not that flavorful or special people gave it. It didn't taste bad, just didn't live to it's name. I would come back if friends wanted to go there specifically.
Review Source:This is my favorite restaurant to eat at in Manhattan. They have great grilled cheese and fries, and their onion rings, taco salad, and chicken salad is good too.
It's usually always packed, but the staff makes sure to greet you and ask if you want anything to drink while you are waiting.
The atmosphere is great- there is a lot to look at- cool country music art and large LCD TVs to watch the game while you are eating.
Seriously the best hamburgers in Manhattan. Â This is a little bar right in the heart of Aggieville. Â Seating is a bit tight and there is a wait a lot of the time, but it's completely worth it.
There's no point in ordering anything but one of their fabulous burgers and fries when you go here. Â It's been so long since I've been, I can't remember if they offer anything but burgers. Â I do remember that you can swap out your beef patty for cool things like a portobella mushroom. Â My friends would always order the raspberry black bean dip, which just looks and sounds like a pile of crap to me...but they swear by it.
The wife and I love this place so much that we made it the dinner location on the first stop of our honeymoon. Â I saw then that they had a promotion for eating a giant hamburger and getting it for free if you completely polish it off, along with a t-shirt and some other stuff. Â Rational judgement got the better of me and my colon and the rest of our trip thanked me for it.
We generally refer to this place as So Schlong because I would go down on a dude like a circus seal just to eat here.
