The place was loud like most awesome bars are on a Friday night.  I squeezed between two occupied barstools to place my order.  I screamed my cocktail wishes to the bartender and proceeded to watch him take his mixology skills to the extreme when he pulled out the blow torch to finish off my Créme Bruleé martini.  Dude.  It was awesome.  If you find yourself downtown, go to SoHo.  Order a fancy schmancy drink. Indulge. Get tipsy on deliciousness.
Review Source:I travel around frequently for work and SoHo was suggested to me by a co-worker who had been in San Antonio a few days prior. Â Nice vibe and environment. Â I got there around 9:30, and the live music started at 10:00. Â I wasn't 100% sure of what I wanted, but made some vague suggestions about what I was in the mood for, and I was masterfully delivered the perfect drink. Â If you're in the area, definitely stop by.
Review Source:This is the kind of bar where you tell the bartender a base liquor and a couple things you like and they will create a drink just for you or point you to one on the menu.  Cocktails were very tasty and the bartenders are truly artists...cool to watch but  you will need to be patient.  We were there on a Tuesday night and it wasn't very crowded at first (maybe 10 people) but the place got quickly overwhelmed when a another large group of about 10 came in - despite there being 5 bartenders.  Can't imagine trying to go there on a busy weekend night.
Review Source:What a great place for locals to enjoy some classy ambiance and drinks. Â We arrived shortly after 9pm and found the front bar crowded so we headed towards the back and snatched the small seating area with the sports TV (had to catch the Spurs game). Â There weren't any servers walking the bar yet, so we had to place our orders at the bar (specialty drinks only at the front bar). Â We stood waiting to be served for nearly 10 minutes while the bartenders essentially ignored us. Â They were still prepping setups and acted as if we were invisible. Â Luckily Cole and Ruby arrived and they took prompt care of our drinks. Â The Whiskey Smash, Planter's Passion drinks were great. Â Ruby was a great server, she took care of our group for the evening and made sure we never had empty glasses and offered some great drink recommendations. Â The bar wasn't noisy, the staff appears to work hard at keeping out the drunks. Â We were disappointed to find it a little too casual, we were hoping for a little dressy since it was next to the Mokara Hotel.
Review Source:I'm a local student and my classmates and I will never be back. A couple people in my group ordered the Margarita which was advertised on the special board. One friend couldn't get halfway through it because it tasted so awful....like black licorice. My other friend attempted to drink it but actually threw up! Then, the club charged him $25 in top of his tab and kicked him out. I attempted to rationally explain the drink situation to the manager but he could care less. I'm a law student now but bartended for 8 years before. If I or another bartender served a drink (or multiple drinks) that caused a patron to puke, I wouldn't dream of tacking on a $25 charge to punish them for our actions. We always celebrate downtown after midterms, finals or for other accomplishments but we will certainly never be back to Soho.
Review Source:The cocktail menu was pretty extensive. Â Although it's a wine and martini bar, I ordered a mango margarita (when in San Antonio...) which was delicious. Â I also got a caiprihna...too sugary. Â Lastly, I tried the peach crisp, which was my least favorite. Â Although my drinks may not have been my most favorite, I'm not faulting them because I'm sure I could have have ordered more of their specialty drinks. Â 4 stars in my book because the atmosphere was great (although the location of the stage for the live music was awkward because it was in a small front room away from the bar area), and the bartenders were very creative and professional.
Review Source:Hadn't been here in years, but always knew it was one of the classic and nicest martini and cocktail places in town, Maybe one of the only. Went here for my friend's birthday; she absolutely loves it. It verges on laid back but still upscale. You can sit! And their cocktail and martini menu is extensive and all there for you to see. I tried a girlscout samoa martini and a pear one. Great martinis. Only set back is that the music isn't exactly stuff you'd jam out to and they play really outdated - awkward things on the tvs there. One of the nicer, and probably only, places left to go to downtown. If you want to have a nice cocktail and talk to friends, this is the place. Door guy is cool guy!
Review Source:Came here with my boyfriend during a short trip to San Antonio. Bar was filled with patrons who seemed to have gotten very dressed up for the place!
I ordered the samoa martini and my boyfriend ordered the special Brooklyn/NY martini in support of Hurricane Sandy relief. We then took our martinis and enjoyed them in a quieter area of the bar, towards the back where an empty bar was.
The samoa martini was way too sweet -- it was iced with coconut pieces and cream on the rim of the glass. My boyfriend's martini wasn't very good either -- we really aren't martini people I suppose!
Overall, a good option for fancier, unique martinis, and would recommend for those in the area looking for a place to try some more adventurous cocktails.
We stumbled across soho by accident. First impressions are everything. Soho did not disappoint. A we walked up the doorman was turning away a large group of very intoxicated frat boys. Which actually left me with a good feeling about the place. Doorman was polite, friendly and very well dressed. Doormen are the first people you see when you get there and the last you see when you leave, this one will actually light your path and ask you to watch your step on the way out. Â He could teach a thing or two to the rest of the bars downtown.
Inside did not disappoint. It was a bit busy but the music was nice. After walking around the large bank vault. Which adds an amazing feel to the place. Your greeted by the main bar. We got lucky and found a few seats at the end. Bartenders are amazing!! Even when the place is busy these guys do everything handcrafted with care. I drank one creme brûlée martini after watching them make one and I was blown away. The Martinis are strong and have a tendency to sneak up on you, Two and I was feeling real good. The menu is extensive so I would have to come back on a less busy night to really explore it but I don't think I'll mind one bit. We made our way to the back bar which was more suited for conversation. The bartender back there was equally as skilled as the ones up front. Place felt great. The vibe was excellent and the people are great. Almost everyone we met were regulars. And a few of them were bartenders from other bars,if  this is the place bartenders go to drink; you know it's good. The bartenders are extremely knowledgable. You can feel the passion for the place, the entire staff actually really cares about the bar and the people. You won't leave disappointed. I know I'll be back. I definitely found my new favorite bar.
The BEST cucumber martini I have EVER tasted.
We typically try to steer clear of touristy spots in downtown, but this is a gem! Â I ordered a gin cucumber martini. Â It was heaven. Â Everything came together perfectly! The cayenne salted rim, hand muddled cucumber, the perfect balance of gin and all around amazing flavors. Â This place is a must if you are interested in trying new martinis and want a true mixologist making your drinks!
There's some really creative drinks here and the vibe/scene are pretty unique. Â I've been here for after dinner drinks with friends and family as well as drinks before a date. Â It's a great place to wind up at and kill an hour or two. Â Drink are mixed close to perfect and I haven't had a bad time here. Â Def look forward to going back.
Review Source:Ambiance!! Â Great handmade goodness in alcohol form. Â Love this place. Â It can get a bit crowded, but well worth the wait and standing room only. Â They've got an outdoor patio so you can watch the tourist pass on the street. Â A cozy seating area in the front with a couch and some chairs. Â The bartenders are always top notch.
Review Source:Average cocktail bar. Got in without any problems. The drinks were okay. They were not the best I've had but potable nonetheless. This place seems like it's trying to be an old school cocktail bar in New York but they don't quite pull it off. The lighting first of all is too bright. The chalkboard with colorful drink names doesn't really mesh with the theme here. Even though the bartenders all wear ties and vests, the raucous clientele here brings the class down. The seating is awkward. People standing everywhere makes it hard to get to the bar to get a drink. There are no waitresses.
If I judged this place based on the many other cocktail bars I've been to, it would be a 2. But if I were to judge this place as just another bar in San Antonio, I could live with giving it 3 stars.
Drinks are about $10 each. Cheap for a cocktail in NYC but probably pretty pricey for SA standards.
Went on a Saturday night. The door man made us wait to get into the place, which was laughable, when will people ever realize it is San Antonio? A group of good-looking, financially secure females with rocking bodies don't wait in LA or New York, among their peers. In San Antonio, they do? Interesting business model.
Anyway, my friend raved about their Martinis, I tried two, both nice and strong but way too sweet. I feel like they try too hard coming up with fun flavors that they just overdo it with the cheesy idea and then dump a bunch of alcohol in it.
The crowd was not great. I was confused upon first walking in, the lounge area looked more like a barn, holding many large beasts that looked like they smelled of manure. I didn't get close, this isn't a petting zoo, so I can not confirm the smell.
I think most of the reviews are right on the spot so exceptionally I am going to be a bit more lazy on this one lol This is a great change from your loosy touristic bars (dive, pub, etc.) of the area with a slightly upscale, urban and cool touch. There is a long list of AMAZING cocktails. They are VERY different from your usual cosmo, mojito and co. I do mean different so simply be willing to go nuts and try something very new and refreshing! Definitely a great place to have a drink in San Antonio.
Review Source:My husband and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary here a couple of nights ago and had the best time. Not only were we super impressed with the quality of the martinis but the mixologist, Breck Cowan, was truly a master at creating the perfect drink. It was like little glasses of heaven. The peanut butter delight was fan-****ing-tastic. As well as the carrot cake and countless other martinis. Between the 2 of us and many hours we had 14 martinis. I can highly recommend this bar to anyone looking to get off the main "path" of the Riverwalk. Ask for Breck! You will not be disappointed. Thanks Breck for a great evening. - Angela & Heath
Review Source:This is by far my favorite bar I went to during my visit in San Antonio. Â The swanky bartenders there know how to make a mean martini. Â I had been wanting a chocolate martini all night and I couldn't get one. Miguel walked up to us as we walked into the bar and asked what he could get for us. I didn't see a chocolate martini on the menu so I asked Miguel if he could make me one? He said, "Of course"! I loved my martini and the ones my friends had.
The bartenders here are rock solid, friendly and make you feel welcome. We had a great experience here. I wish there was a bar like this in Tucson. I'd be a regular there.
The minute I walked in I was in love with the music. As the night progressed, BC, the house DJ did not let the house down. The perfect music vibe for this hip bar. Music can set the tone for an experience & BC got you in the mood to sample some of the creative, well thought drinks. I told the bartender that being my first time there, I'd like his help in choosing my drinks. I told him I didn't like sweet drinks, I liked to taste the alcohol & liked herby or spicy tones. He first reccomended bloody Mary infused vodka with a splash of water, it was perfect. Next he recommended the "Bachelor", a twist on a dirty martini but he described better balanced so not to have a over salty or bitter taste. He was right, the "Bachelor", was multilateral in tastes & everything balanced. I had a great time here, enjoying the great drinks, friendly bar staff & awesome music.
Review Source:Another great place to grab a drink in San Antonio. A bit off the beaten path of the Riverwalk...you will find this amazing bar alongside several other hotspots in San Antonio.
The martini's on the wall are all amazing. I spent a good amount of time in this little place to see just about every one of them ordered, though I wasn't the one doing the ordering.
The majority of people that call this bar home are locals, and they are all very friendly. On both nights that I frequented, the exact same crowd was inside...and they all lived a stones throw away from the bar. Drink local!
But more than just a neighborhood bar, this bar is serving up some great deconstructed cocktails...basically all booze with the same flavor profile of a typical cocktail.
This is yet another spot to enjoy a great drink, with great people. Whether you know them or not...you will all be family after a few martinis at SoHo!
This is an absolute MUST for San Antonio. Â We happened upon this spot per the recommendation from our server at Biga, which was not a far walk at all. Â We grabbed a spot on the corner of the bar and voila - we had a perfect date night.
I've never had such a fantastic bar experience. Â The barkeeps were top notch and their pleasant attitudes and delicious cocktails made us stay well beyond our intent. Â And besides - they even have drinks for a good cause (Meg, get well soon!)!!! Â What a great place!
I really, really, REALLY loved their unique cocktail menu. Â Meg's drink is so tasty. Â The chocolate martini was one of the best I've ever had. Â The creme brulee martini is a definite experience and worth it just to watch it get torched. Â My hubby loved the variety of fine scotchs and scored a tasty cigar for himself, that he later enjoyed on the Riverwalk while we enjoyed an impromptu blues concert coming out of Barriba.
Several folks on here have reviewed the costliness of this joint. Â All of our drinks plus hubby's cigar came out to something MUCH less than what we would have paid in Atlanta. Â We actually thought this place was reasonably priced for the quality of the drinks and service!!!
Side note: I Â totally loved the jazz music they were playing through the restaurant. Â It was electic and definitely chosen by someone who knows their jazz, which made it super interesting for me. Â We came on a Sunday night so it wasn't packed and I loved the chill vibe.
This was total perfection for me and I hope to find something similar in Atlanta!
This place was a rather nice post-dinner stop for us and in close proximity to our hotel. Â A plentiful assortment of cocktails, a live band, dimly lit, and with a decent population of patrons - that's all I really need. Â
The cocktails are on the pricier side, but I have a sneaky suspicion the bartenders are actually "mixologists," if you know what I mean? Â There were certainly dozens of specialty cocktails, some a little too inventive for my imagination and taste buds, but I'm sure this just means there is something for everyone. Â
The service was fairly prompt, all the more impressive considering we had streamed in with at least fifteen people. Â Even though the band in the first room wasn't having much success in attracting a large audience, they put on a lively show. Â This would probably be a fantastic date spot as I did notice a few couples settle in with their pretty little cocktails.
I rarely head into downtown San Antonio, but I have found my calling, my spot, favorite go to... you name it I've found it!!
I love the relaxed atmosphere and high class martini selection they offer at SoHo.  This place offers such a first rate selection of liquid yumminess that I attempt to make it in as often as possible.  I rarely eat dessert, but Soho is my guilty pleasure.  They offer a variety of specialty martinis and their mixologists are consistently whipping up new ones.. literally whipping up.. their dessert martinis that is; Key Lime Tini, Crème Brulee Tini, Carrot Cake Tini, Samoa Girl Scout Cookie Tini and many more are each made by one of the their stellar bar tenders and finished off with extra love and whipped marshmallow topping.  Don't let the over the top presentation fool you into thinking you won't be seeing double.  Two of these delicacies and you'll be feeling great... Really great!!
One of the great vibes of this place is that it's such a warm atmosphere you feel that everyone's your best friend... it very well could be the martinis, but none the less it's got a great vibe.  I've come in for anything from birthday parties to after pub run meet ups to long days by the pool to date nights and no matter how I've been  dressed the people  will be cool, the bar tenders will rock and you'll leave with a sweet tooth cure and a great buzz for a long downtown night of dancing.
Although I would not call myself an "alcoholic", I do have experience with many cocktails, enjoy my alcohol, etc, etc, etc. . . What I'm saying is that I have the credentials to back up what I'm going to tell you next. . .
This place is THE BEST MARTINI BAR I have EVER been too!!! Â
The mixologists are serious about their drinks, they simply take pride in them, a work of art to them.
My very good friend *wink wink* took me here for drinks after dinner and I was instantly impressed with the decor. Â A good old 1930s feel in a bank, complete with vault. Â For a moment I fantasized myself back in that prohibition time period where alcohol had to be locked up in vaults (nerd alert I know).
The menu is chalk written, on the wall and did not offer a lot of options but don't let that fool you. Â The bartenders are able to whip up anything to your heart's desires. Â I started out with the creme brulee martini where my whip cream was literally whipped, topped with sugar and flamed right before my eyes!! Â My friend had the chocolate peanut butter one which made me feel like I was drinking a reeses peanut buttercup!!! Â Yummmmm yum!!!
For our second and third round, we talked to the bartender about where we should take our taste buds next. Â He asked about what drinks I usually like, what flavor, which liquors, etc. Â We came up with an Orange Julius for me and my friend had a coconut bacon one. Â Saying that things are delicious seems redundant but I simply can't emphasize that enough!!
Since I was visiting from larger cities, the prices were not that bad either (drinks back home start at $10). Â
So without a doubt, this place is worth going out of your way for!!! Â Let your imagination run wild, you won't be disappointed :-)
Lately, I've been trying to give downtown San Antonio a chance. So I got all dolled up and decided to hit up some of the finer areas downtown. After my mini pub crawl, my partner in crime and I came across SoHo on the way back to the parking garage. I would like to say I'm glad we stopped in.
They had a wonderful selection of martinis ranging from sweet to spicy. I had the Ginger-tini. Not too shabby, although I felt like I should have been eating sushi with it.
They have a decent beer selection also. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable. Next time I'm downtown most likely I'll drop in here again and try a different drink since they have a large selection it will take some time to try every single one.
Finds like this are what make Yelp worth using.
Impressive drink menu (recommend the Soho Rubicon!), cool live music, and a great atmosphere. The people watching is almost worth it alone. For a spot located just off the San Antonio Riverwalk, you won't be disappointed.
If you don't leave w/ smile on your face, don't blame it on Soho...it's probably the people you're hanging with!
Very cool place. Â Interesting martinis and infused spirits. I had the Violet Delight martini which had a lot of foam, maybe a little too much. Â The Creme Brulee martini was perfect. Â The foam on top was flamed so it had some caramelized sugar, and maybe my favorite part! Â Plenty of other ones I wanted to try, but 2 is pretty much my limit in an evening. Â : )
The decor was cool, chipped paint walls, a bit dark, plenty of cozy seating areas. Â Fun place to go.
The social manager at Riverwalk Plaza Hotel - Michael Cano took us to this bar as a 'must see' in San Antonio as it was our first time visiting we were not sure where to go.
I am SO glad he brought us here, the most amazing Martini bar I have ever been to.
Our martini's were hand crafted by Eddie. We started with the Orange Blossom and the Peanut Butter Martini. The Peanut Butter Martini was so much better than I expected. It was AMAZING. I'm not into a lot of citrus but the orange blossom was equally amazing.
Michael ordered the Carrot Cake and his girlfriend the fruit cup so we could try some other ones too. It was so fun! Then Eddie came back to ask us a few questions about what we liked and didn't like, he then went on to make me my own personal martini which tasted like french vanilla and he bruleed a foam on top, oh my gossssssssshhhhh. Yum!
I am looking forward to coming back to San Antonio and I will visit this bar every time I am there. Amazing and everyone should honestly go here. It's classy, upscale, not super busy, they had jazz music playing. Something you'd find in New York. It was intimate, sports center was on, very relaxed crowd and drinks are out of this world amazing.
You will not be disappointed.
Never heard of a Coconut Creme Brulee Martini until the day I came here. Â Ever since that day, when we think of spirits and downtown I think of SoHo. Â
Last time we went I decided to try something new: Peanut Butter Martini and the Long Island...delicious!
Definitely coming back again!
We're glad to have stumbled into this bar in our new hometown. SoHo is the kind of place where I could (and will) be a regular. The drinks are a little on the pricey side for San Antonio ($10/martini) and the place can be smoky (since it's a cigar bar), but those are the only possible gripes I'd have. I would've given this a five-star rating if I could've breathed, but we ended up leaving sooner than desired because, while I can put up with a $10 martini, I didn't have patience with the guy at the next bar stool blowing smoke right into my face. I'll be back, but I'd come back more often if they'd drop the cigars.
SoHo is comfortable, stylish in a comfy way, plays excellent music (Joe Cocker was crooning while we were there last week) and they make excellent drinks.  My martini was mixed perfectly and came with the right amount of ice shards. The bar has several different rooms to fit your mood--the front room has groups of chairs for private chatting, while the main  room  has a bar that is backed by an ancient and giant bank vault.
Not only do they mix the standards with high quality, but those looking for interesting drinks won't be disappointed. SoHo features some interesting-sounding Absinthe drinks and features a range of infused liquors (Bloody Mary vodka, brisket bourbon, etc.)
Nice place for adults to enjoy adult beverages!
There's something really special that happens when the owners of a bar actually work as bartenders, too. This isn't the kind of place that someone opened and hired a bunch of college students to sling drinks and get patrons sloppy drunk at HH prices. This is the kind of place you go to enjoy handcrafted cocktails made with great attention to detail by bartenders who really value their craft.
SoHo is located downtown in the old SA Loan & Trust Building. The renovations are gorgeous and they kept much of the historical integrity of the space intact. The old bank vault now houses the wine cellar. The space is gorgeous, intimate, sexy; almost has the feel of an NYC bar, but rest assured you'll find enough southern hospitality here to wipe that image from your mind pretty quickly.
Their cocktail menu is impressive, innovative and made with their patrons in mind. When you walk in and approach the bar, they'll take time to chat with you about your drink preferences before beginning to pour anything. I've sampled my way around that menu pretty thoroughly. The drinks made here have many specialty ingredients from liqueurs to fresh fruit. It's not the type of place you'll find pre-mixed anything.
But, even a classic like the dirty vodka martini was the best I've ever had. If you're really feeling crazy ask for the martini that had something about bacon in it. (I wish I had better info on that. It was our last drink of the evening and I can't remember all the details, but I do remember it was dee-licious!)
Also, take the time to explore their infused spirits. Incredible.
Thanks to the sous chef at the restaurant I was working I found the local industry bar. Located next door to Mokara and above the riverwalk this is a cool little gem in San Antonio.
After meating the owner and shooting the BS I found people in the "industry" get 30% off your bill.
Giving it is already half the price of LA to get a drink in SA you walk away with what would be a steal compared to LA.
The vibe is pretty good, very easy to shoot the shit with the locals.
It tends to start to get busier after 9pm with people getting off work.
I love SOHO!
Finally a bar in San Antonio with great drinks and where you actually have the chance of meeting some classy single guys! (If they exist in San Antonio..)
They have a great wine selection, scotch selection (even have one of those nifty ice ball machines), and make a great gin martini. They have jazz on certain nights, cigars available, wassily chairs!, and you can smoke indoors without the place reeking of smoke. Definitely one of my favorites.
Backstory: Our hotel bartender suggested we check out the drinks at Zinc.  I know it is more of a wine bar, but he said they make some good stuff there.  We go...and I ask for a whiskey or  bourbon based cocktail. Bartender's response: "It's Sunday night and my creativity has been zapped." What?? On to the next suggestion...SoHo Wine and Martini Bar!
On to SoHo where the exchange went more like this: Â
Me: Hello, bartender. Â I would like some whiskey...what could you make me?
Bartender: Do you like Manhattans? (Ryan shaking his head yes). Â Well then, I'll make something similar to that.
The drink ended up being the love child of a manhattan and a creamsicle. Somehow it all just worked perfectly. Â With mixing skills like that, friendly service, and some acoustic music in the background, we kept the drinks flowing for a bit. Â Nothing but great reviews for the Cucumber Martini, Habanero Martini, and the Carrot Cake Martini. Â Thanks for making up for Zinc, SoHo!
