I like it place because of the beer towers they have. Also they have shiner which is always a plus. :)

The price of their dishes tend to be pretty pricey but you get your money's worth in quantity and quality. I got their fried chicken, marinated chicken, ra-bbok-gi! the fried chicken bites were so good and it was a good amount for 4 people to split! The marinated chicken was a bit harder to eat because they weren't bites but whole pieces of chicken. I'd choose the fried chicken over the marinated. However the ra-bbok-gi I would eat everyday if I could.

Also, what's beer without fried, greasy foods? Luckily they also have french fries~ And if you go there from 5-9 Moonday- Thursday they have happy hour for their beers, soju, and makkgoli, and also some dishes.

Interior: I feel like I'm walking into a two story club, but instead of standing people who are drinking, I see people sitting down, eating and drinking, and no dance floor. :P  I do like how they have private rooms on the second floor. I've been there a few times now and I always seem to get the same room....

Anyways I think this place is good to hang out with friends for some food and drinks, especially during happy hour! :D

I came here couple months ago with my fiancé.  We sat down, took one look at the menu and I wanted to leave because the prices are soo high!  We decided to stay however and see if the food matches up to the price.  We ordered mung bean pancake, stir fried pork and squid, and the pork neck and potato soup. Sorry don't know how to say all of this in korean since my fiancé ordered it for me.  The food came out and the portions are HUUGGE!  Like we could of shared just one entree and we would be full, and we are big eaters too!  Now I understand the price tag! The food itself was good too! Squid wasn't too rubbery.  I do wish that there were more variety of the side dishes but I suppose with the big portions they don't want you to get too full on sides.

The next few weeks I brought my friends and family here after a spa castle day we ordered a whole list of things.  The standouts were the kalbi, fried chicken, and seafood pancake.  The kalbi we ended up ordering two orders because it was sooo delcious.  Thick cut and melt in your mouth. Fried chicken was solid but the sauce was definitely on the sweeter side.  The seafood pancake was ginormous and was chock full of seafood.  One thing we ordered which was a little weird and funny was the monkfish.  The fish looked weird.. It had these jagged spikes and it wasn't very tender.  Plus it had these leathery looking things which we found out were sea squirts.  Weeiirrd.. Just something we're not used to that's all.

Service was a little slow and a few times we had to wait for rice since it was still cooking. I'll be back for that kalbi for sure!

The decor here is interesting. It's 2 stories ...and what's the strangest to me is that there's a pseudo-window from the 2F that overlooks the ground floor...and people like to hang over the window and shout to people downstairs. Now I'm not saying this is some super fancy restaurant or anything but...it was just a strange episode. Maybe the people upstairs knew someone downstairs? I don't even think that was the case because...no one responded to the girls who were pointing from the window...

ANYWAYS.. the food is good. Ramen and dukkbokke is really good. It's weird that they have fries there but sure goes well with your beer. The other foods that I've tried there are just average. I would say the best is the Ramen and the sticky rice cakes.

Went on a Wednesday off a Groupon deal for $20.  It was not packed, and had a very cool two-story setup with a staircase leading up to the second floor, where I presume the club/dance floor is.  They supplied a Happy Hour menu, but when they found out we had a Groupon, said it was not valid in conjunction with a Groupon.

Not super adventurous so we got the Spicy Chicken Bulgogi and regular Bulgogi.  They came with the usual ~6 Korean side dishes and rice.  HUGE portions!  We ate our fill and still had enough for another meal.  Bulgogi had a nice flavor, balanced out by the spicy chicken, both together were delicious.  Would go back again definitely.

Had a Groupon for $20 to this place and kept forgetting about it, so we finally went on a random Wednesday night right before the Groupon was to expire. I assume bc it was a Wednesday night, it wasnt very crowded, but I could see this place being a very cool place to go on a weekend with some friends because its a restaurant, but also the kind of place that people stay late drinking too.

Very cool experience from the second you walk in. The place is REALLY nice inside! I heard it even has a Golf simulator somewhere, but I couldn't see it from where we were sitting so I assume maybe its upstairs or something. But right when I walked in, I thought this would be such a fun place to take a group of friends.

So on to the important stuff...the FOOD. The Groupon required that we order 2 entrees so we got the Fried Chicken with sauce ($17) and the Grilled Bossam ($25). In typical Korean fashion, the waitress brought out about 6 small dishes of different Koran sides. All of which were pretty good.

When the first plate (Grilled Bossam) came out, we were surprised to see how much food there was! Little did we know, that the one plate of food could literally feed 3-4 people. There was a gigantic mound of grilled pork belly with a side of sauteed bean sprouts and some kind of salad with thin strips of green onion (I think?) tossed in sesame oil and chili sauce. This was my favorite dish! It came with two sauces both of which perfectly complimented the pork. I could literally eat this every day for the rest of my life! Thinking about it right now is making me drool.

Then came the mountain of fried chicken in sauce. This was good, but nothing special. Just tasted like a spicy Korean version of Orange chicken. The sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, but the boyfriend liked it.

Clearly, we had to take most of it to go. The leftovers fed us for the next day and a half and it was just as good left over if not better than the first time. All in all, great atmosphere, great food, and great service. Although the food seems expensive, you definitely get your money's worth and more. We will definitely be back and I cant wait to try more things on the menu.

Menu needs some translation help.  My wife does not eat spicy at all.  She ordered the Oh Sahm Bulgogi from the menu and we assumed it was going to be pork belly and squid with sauce, and it showed up SUPER spicy for her.  The menu made no indication it was going to be spicy

She ate what she could but had to use her rice side dish to blot out the chili oil and jalapeno that this had clearly been cooked in.

I ordered Deji Bulgogi and fully expected it to be spicy and found it to be quite nice.

Sides were quite nice.  Quite liked the salad and the sweet and spicy jalapeno potatoes and carrots.

One of the owners or managers offered me a shot of "Korean Vodka", could swear it was just shoju, but I wasn't complaining.  My wife likes shoju a lot more than I do, so it was probably wasted on me anyhow.  :)

If we could find my wife a non-spicy dish to order

I've been in here a few times, but last week I went specifically to use my groupon (it was about to expire) -  $40 worth of food for a party of 4 or more and alcohol is not included. I went in around 10:30 on a Friday night and it wasn't that busy. They had several open tables on both floors. The service here is usually pretty good. They did bring us the wrong item, but they apologized and corrected the mistake. They also have a bell system so if you ever need something, you can ring for help. The food here is average at best. I've tried their fish cake soup, fries, several chicken dishes, rice cake, rice cake with ramen, kimbap, and bunch of other things. Nothing really special.

Friday night I went with 8 people and racked up about $200 worth of drinks & food.
When we got to the register to check out, the young man there accepted the groupon and took $40 off the tab and gave us a bill with the new balance. Then the owner lady (with a huge frown) shows up out of no where right when he handed us the bill and snatches it out of my hand. She then proceeds to yell at the employee in front of us. She continues this for a few minutes while the 8 of us just stand there not knowing what's going on. I finally cut in on her lecture and asked her what the problem was. She then tells us the groupon only counts for one of the dishes ($17) because that was the only main dish. The other food items we ordered were all "side items" so they do not count towards the groupon. I told her the only exclusions listed on the Groupon was alcohol and that it doesn't say $40 dollars worth of MAIN dishes but just FOOD. She frowns and says well that's wrong. I was ready to get out of that place so I just handed her the cash. I told her I won't argue with her because it seems pointless, but she should never expect my business again. I just shook my head and walked out.

So I had a Groupon to use - $40 worth of food.  Pretty awesome deal!  Came with 3 other people to partake in this awesome meal, but this time, the food was just okay.  Came here on a Monday night and it wasn't too busy at all.  We were seated right away and given regular menus.  I remember them having a HH, but since they didn't give us the HH menu I figured they stopped doing it. (later to find out they still do offer HH but you have to ask for the menu - that doesn't make sense, why not just give it to us?)

Anywho, we ordered a couple of things:  The spicy rice cake with ramen noodles (it wasn't very good - too mushy and lukewarm).  We wanted soup so we went with the Ramen noodles - delicious as always and lots of soup!  Next we ordered the spicy squid and beef dish.  This dish was pretty good, but again this one was also lukewarm.  Makes me uncomfortable eating lukewarm dishes because I always wonder why they don't bring it out to us right away - especially on a night when it's not busy at all (hmmm?).  Last but not least, we ordered the grilled bosam (pork belly) - this was a winner!  The dish was HUGE - plenty of pork, bean sprouts, garlic (which I wish was cooked ahead of time), and a salad mixture of green onions, onions, and spices.

We would of had enough food with just the grilled bosam dish + the Ramen noodles, but since we wanted to use the $40 we ordered extra.  Overall, not bad of a meal but it wasn't as satisfying this time around.  Also, when I went up to pay for the meal and showed the voucher, the cashier lady (seemed like she was the owner) didn't look too pleased.  She got all pouty and had a bad attitude. Okay lady - if you have your restaurant partake in these deals, why so pissy?  Shouldn't you expect that people who bought these vouchers are actually going to USE them?  Good grief!  Wasn't a great ending to our meal, but brush it off - I'm sure I'll be back.

Spoon is a huge establishment for a Korean restaurant with two levels and a buzzer at every table to ding whenever you need assistance.  The decor is lovely and there are chairs sporadically situated throughout the place.

    The Good:
-Large portions of food to share
-Daeji Bulgogi sauteed well with jalapenos, onions, and carrots
-Servers come immediately when we ring the bell
-They don't charge for rice but you do have to ask for it
    -Extensive cocktail list

    The Bad:
-Meal only comes with four sides (other places will give you at least eight): pickled jalapenos, kimchi, cabbage with mayonnaise, and spicy cucumbers
-Fried chicken consisted of drumsticks and breasts when I was hoping more for chicken wings (that's probably my bad though) and they're served on this ridiculously huge and heavy square plate leaving no room for other dishes if you are with a big group
-More expensive than other Korean restaurants with the Bulgogi at $17 and fried chicken for $15

    The Ugly:
    -Daeji Bulgogi is extremely greasy
-Sitting on the side adjacent to the golf shop will surprise you will loud thuds assuming people are practicing their drives on simulators

This is my new favorite Korean restaurant in the Dallas area, which surprised me since I'm not even much of a drinker and this is supposed to be a pub-type place. It reminds me of a Korean BJ Breweries, with the large space, lots of tv's everywhere running sports programs, and atmosphere.

The food overall is pretty good, but the one dish that I always order that puts this restaurant into one of my all-time favorite places is the grilled bossam. It's this huge tray of delicious grilled pork (fairly lean too, for bossam), along with a pile of seasoned bean sprouts and scallions. It beats every other bossam I've had, including in Koreatown LA, NY, and the Bay Area.

As of recent, the partners that owned Spoon have split up and Spoon is no longer affiliated with Dan Sung Sa (DSS) in Dallas. To my knowledge, the ex-partners, their recipes, and most of their staff have packed up and went back to DSS. Sad to see them split up, but I'd wait a bit till Spoon is consistent with their menu and the service from their new staff.

It's pretty spacious and parking is convenient so it can handle a crowd.  Downstairs, you can find a few tables for dining, as well as a bar.  Upstairs, you'll find a few more tables, as well as private rooms if you want to hold a meeting.  They also have a screen that at different times has on sports, music videos or random news.

The food is normal bar food and they serve beer, wine, liquor, soju and have a full bar.  The staff is generally friendly (although a few can't speak English).  Prices are pretty standard, but they have some specials, you just have to keep an eye on them because they change from time to time.  Because it's so large, it can accommodate a group even if you haven't made reservations.

Finally!! Good eats and drinks in carrollton.  And what?!? Free appetizer with a bottle of wine purchase?  Winning!!

We ordered the spicy Ckn soup and it was so good and had a nice kick.  Goes really well with white rice.  Kinda reminded me of my moms lemongrass Ckn ..  Would def come back

Korean bar food done well.  This is what Spoon has to offer.  Mainly koreans come here, so be prepared to feel like you're in a kpop music video.

I went up here to meet up with my friend since he's going away for basic training.  When i arrived they had already demolished the food so i didn't really get to try a variety of things.  I ordered the Bacon Mari and the fried chicken for myself.  While i was waiting for the food, our group ordered some drinks.  The green hulk or something hulk was incredibly strong.  I wasn't sure what the price was but i believe it was pretty expensive considering their bill.  My bacon mari and fried chicken finally arrived and i was satisfied with their portions.  Avg entree price is around 14 dollars, but it comes tapas style. aka you share with everyone.  The bacon mari comes with a cabbage slaw.  It's pretty much sticks of rice cakes wrapped in bacon.  They are most likely deep fried.  I enjoyed the crunchy exterior with the chewy interior.  I killed these easily.  The fried chicken was standard korean fried chicken.  Mainly, drum sticks and chopped up pieces of thighs, the fried chicken was very crispy.  It was accompanied with the same cabbage slaw but also came with a salt pepper mixture.  Sprinkle these over the chicken and it's like crack.

Spoon seems to be a pretty cool place to just enjoy korean style bar food and get your drink on.  It's dimly lit and very contemporary, if that's a turn off then i would stay away.  I could see myself coming here for some food and then going over to KTX to karaoke.

Cool atmosphere, food was pretty good, and had Korean drama music playing.

It wasn't that busy when I was here but it overall seemed like a good place to go. They also have Soju (of course) which is not on the menu, but just ask. Had the Kimchi Jiggae and it was spicy and great for a group of people.

I would come back here another time, or maybe a weekend.

We should have kept driving on the Bush to K town. This place cost just as much as others but no sides. The heck??!!  We had to ask for rice! The food was okay. The atmosphere was just plain weird. A couple arrived after we did and then a minute later they walked back out. We should have done the same thing.

Definitely more of a hip, trendy Korean restaurant with a younger crowd, extremely loud music, and a nice decor. We came here to try the food, and they have a fairly large menu. They say they're a fusion restaurant, but they seem to have all the regular Korean staples.

We ordered the kimchi jjigae and the bool dak (fire chicken). The portions were big, and both dishes tasted spicy and savory. They didn't bring us any rice, so we had to ask for it. We thought there might be an extra charge for the rice, but there wasn't. Guess they just forgot. Also, there's no panchan here! We were there after midnight, so I'm not sure if it's available earlier or not at all.

They have an extensive drink menu with drink specials Monday-Saturday. Service was decent, and they have a service button on the side of the table, if needed. It's located in the same shopping area as H-Mart, and they're also open late!

As a note, Yelp has not updated their business information yet- the actual address is 2625 Old Denton Rd. #404. Phone number is (972) 245-5511.

Spoon deserves a good 3.5 stars.

This place should be a club, honestly.  Very big, club feel atmosphere that only remains to be a bar.  I enjoyed the upbeat vibe along with the swanky interior but I couldn't tell if it was a restaurant or a place to go out.  Close to midnight, a family came in with a little (what looked to be) a 12 year old girl.  I was kind of confused.

I wanted to like this place as much as I like DSS (Dan Sung Sah) on Royal and 35 just because the type of food is similar but unfortunately, my gold star still remains on their wooden walls.

The first night we went to spoon, we ordered fried chicken with the sauce on the side.  Pretty darn good, I must say.

The second night, we ordered the Kong Bool which is a mixture of bean sprouts, rice and other good stuff that they fry over a skillet.  Unfortunately, this was just whatever...

Be careful when ordering the cocktails. The ones that are strong are HELLA strong...but hey, if you want it to hit fast I dare you to get the incredible hulk. *evil smile

Overall, the food and atmosphere doesn't suffice to DSS but it is a nice joint to go to when you're feeling the late night crave.  If you don't like smoke, try to sit in the area where its a bit closed off, or maybe even upstairs.

Happy eating, my fellow yelpers! Booyah!

    ********************NEW UPDATE*************************

I didn't have that good of an experience this recent time I went. I do have to admit, the food was better than my first experience but the new owner has gotten the waiters and waitresses running around looking very dysfunctional...not to mention, they forgot a good portion of our order which was a no no BUT, I would give this place some time for things to settle down and become more organized.  I see great potential!

What used to be San (mountain) became Spoon.
This place is huge for a Korean restaurant in Dallas.
We asked to sit upstairs which is quiet big as well. They have private rooms available upstairs but most of the floor is open with a giant screen playing sports.

The menu consists of appetizers, the usual Korean soups, fusion food, and snack foods as well. Whats interesting is they have some seafood like oysters, shrimp, and lobster.

For our appetizer we got a doz oysters, kinda fresh but not too bad. Just an fyi the horseradish will really get to you!

As for the main we ordered the "Kong Bool" , which is bean sprout, shiitake mushrooms, other vegs and marinated pork.  They bring it to your table on a pan but don't expect them to cook it for you unless you request the waiters to cook it. We ordered 2 portions and it was enough to feed 3-4 people. At first the food didn't look too pleasing but the taste is the opposite. Also rice is not provided until the end when they stir-fry all the ingredients together.

Another plus is most of the folks who work here can speak English! I'm Korean and is fluent in Korean but English is what I prefer.

To all ye drinkers! They're having a grand opening special: $1 draft beer and $2 shots

A new place that just opened up in the HMART complex.  My friend had told me it was created by the same owners of DSS, so I wasn't expecting much.  Maybe a hole in the wall, karaoke joint.

NOPE.  This place is NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE.  That nice with 21 i's.  I felt like I was walking into some sort of palace restaurant.  Simple menu with korean foods and appetizers.  Lots of alcohol, but I only indulged in some weird fermented rice alcohol concoction.

Like Andy P., I didn't go upstairs, but the stairway looked really nice and I bet the place upstairs looked really nicer.  Probably the really nicest place on Earth.

They have some electric golf driving range in the back, so if you are into that, take a few whacks drunk.

Anyways, this place is cool.  Did not expect it to be what it was at all.  And with that ambiguous statement, I recommend.

Yea, I'm a fan. From the owners of DSS (DanSungSa) comes this huge bar/restaurant for all your Korean food/drink needs. The place is much much  different then DSS. It's tucked away near the back of the H-Mart shopping center right off I-90. Don't know what this place used to be but it's huge. The main room has seperate tables and rooms and then you have the upstairs section. Didn't go upstairs but apparently there's lots of space also.

Just like DSS, this place has a whole menu of korean bar foods and beverages. I must admit, I wasn't able to try much but if it's like DSS, then we're all happy. I met some new friends and had to have my wife drive me home. Yeah, it's one of those places....

Great new bar in the Hmart (Carrollton) area.  The owners of Dansungsa started this joint.  The food is great .. service is great and location is great. What more can a humble Korean yelping-addict ask for?? hehe ... just try this place and figure yourself out in a great new atmosphere.
