The Hideaway

Stopped in The Hideaway while down in the Dallas metro for a weekend trip.  We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather that night.  We stayed for probably about 3 hours and the waitress took care of us the entire night.  We originally just was ordering drinks but did all eventually order off of the menu and all of it was delicious, and plentiful.  We actually made the mistake of ordering two orders of fried pickles thinking that we wouldn't have enough to share, instead, we ended up with way too many to eat amongst the 4 of us in our party.  To our amazement, our tab came out very affordable for the entire night and we will defiantly be back when we are back in the metro area again.

I usually hang out in the uptown Dallas area, and this little dive bar is far from uptown in distance and quality of women. That having been said, I really really like this place because it doesn't haven't that uptown feeling.

I play in the Lonestar Sports league and this is one of the bars they use for their happy hour host spots. I've gone a couple of times on Mondays which is their all day happy hour day. The bar itself was relatively slow, but they had $2.00 drafts as well as $2.00 tacos. I'd suggest the pork tacos, but the brisket weren't bad either.

They also have a pretty good variety of music that plays over a very loud sound system. My only complaint is that me being a non smoker, this place seemed to be a little smokey. I'm not sure if they allow smoking or not, or if some of the patrons inside were just wearing clothes that were laced in cigarette smoke. I still plan on putting this little place in my rotation of bars.

Ended up here for the Skins-Cowboys game and was shocked by the atmosphere for the place. The local skins supporters group uses the bar as their place to be and it is fantastic. The drinks are good, the food (I had the pizza) was solid and for the most part, the wait staff was decent. It's a bar in a strip mall with lots of TV's and if you go for a Skins game, it is well worth it.

It is a lot better than watching it in a sports bar in DC. And my bill was a lot less than I expected. If I am ever in Dallas again when a skins-Cowboys game is going on, I am going there.
