Stopped in The Hideaway while down in the Dallas metro for a weekend trip. Â We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather that night. Â We stayed for probably about 3 hours and the waitress took care of us the entire night. Â We originally just was ordering drinks but did all eventually order off of the menu and all of it was delicious, and plentiful. Â We actually made the mistake of ordering two orders of fried pickles thinking that we wouldn't have enough to share, instead, we ended up with way too many to eat amongst the 4 of us in our party. Â To our amazement, our tab came out very affordable for the entire night and we will defiantly be back when we are back in the metro area again.
Review Source:I usually hang out in the uptown Dallas area, and this little dive bar is far from uptown in distance and quality of women. That having been said, I really really like this place because it doesn't haven't that uptown feeling.
I play in the Lonestar Sports league and this is one of the bars they use for their happy hour host spots. I've gone a couple of times on Mondays which is their all day happy hour day. The bar itself was relatively slow, but they had $2.00 drafts as well as $2.00 tacos. I'd suggest the pork tacos, but the brisket weren't bad either.
They also have a pretty good variety of music that plays over a very loud sound system. My only complaint is that me being a non smoker, this place seemed to be a little smokey. I'm not sure if they allow smoking or not, or if some of the patrons inside were just wearing clothes that were laced in cigarette smoke. I still plan on putting this little place in my rotation of bars.
Ended up here for the Skins-Cowboys game and was shocked by the atmosphere for the place. The local skins supporters group uses the bar as their place to be and it is fantastic. The drinks are good, the food (I had the pizza) was solid and for the most part, the wait staff was decent. It's a bar in a strip mall with lots of TV's and if you go for a Skins game, it is well worth it.
It is a lot better than watching it in a sports bar in DC. And my bill was a lot less than I expected. If I am ever in Dallas again when a skins-Cowboys game is going on, I am going there.
HAIL!
Just your run of the mill hole in the wall bar. Â You can't smoke inside, which kind of sucks. Â But they have a pretty chill patio! Â Drink prices are good, and food is decent... Staff are friendly if they know you! Â And it really is hidden away! Â I still wish Al never would have sold it, but Willy brings in his menu he's had everywhere else..... The food was always better when Al owned it.
Review Source:Strictly a regulars kind of crowd that is largely older. Â The hideaway is appropriately named as well because it is stuck back in a shopping complex without much advertising its presence besides a sign amongst all the other signs for the development. Â The staff was friendly, always a plus in my book. Â They have plenty of TVs which make it a good place to catch a game at. Â It's close by so it's convenient. Â But then again so is Addison.
Review Source:Local and easygoing with top notch bartenders (jennifer). Â A ton of 42" hdtvs, complimented by other sizes, so its a great place to watch the game, though at times the jukebox reigns over sports. Mostly rock music, but you're subject to the whims of others, which in many cases is local mexican.
Walk into a serve station that likely isn't used much. Several lower eating tables on both the left and right with the bar on a raised platform (two steps). directly in front of you. Bar is a large rectangle with stools (padded bottom, wooden back) on every side. Popcorn bar overhang that does nothing for the bar. Bartop is wood laminate with a real wood rail. Brass footrail. Several poker/fruit machines on the left side. No bar back and a floor that is really ugly . Food is average, though it's hard to complain when they have free pizza on some nights.
Hideaway, at least during the week when the weather isn't perfect, seems like one large family. Though only 10-15% full, everyone knows one another and is super friendly. Â Kids allowed, not sure if that is anywhere in dallas or tx, but after living in indiana, its a bit disconcerting. Â Great local bar with vibe that is welcoming, friendly, local. No pretentiousness
New ownership/management have restored the Hideaway to a high level. Service, quality of food are truly excellent. As member of a Friday Lunch Bunch, ages 84 to 73, we rotate among a number of bars. Toadies now sets the standard for the others. Their hamburger, made to order, is a favorite.
Review Source:My wife and I started going here because she was looking for a Redskins bar, and this was the one that the http://meetup.com group goes to. The food they have is pretty good for bar food. While some items are rather greasy, things like the queso con carne and their pretzels are really good.
My favorite thing about this bar is the waitstaff. When we walked in the door on our second visit, the bartender had already begun getting our standard drink order ready. Everyone is really friendly here, and the staff is top-notch. Plus, I am willing to deal with a Redskins game every now and then if it means $2 Shiners all day.
I don't get out as much as I did a few years ago, but Al's...er, I mean The Hideaway is still tops on my list. Â It has turned into a quiet little dive bar where you still see some of the familiar old faces either hanging out, or pouring you a cold one. Â Will have to say it isn't the same as it was back in its "hay day", but you don't get the loud 20 something crowd that you typically find in Addison. Â Every once in a while you run across a DJ. Â Not sure if they have live music anymore though. Â Sports on the tube and trivia available....just your friendly neighborhood bar that is great for a quiet drink where you can actually talk to people without having to talk over the loudness of the crowd or music and smoking only on the patio.
Review Source:The little hole in the wall formerly known as Al's Hideaway is back! It's now the Hideaway. After much searching for contact info, this place is determined to stay hidden. Not for long with a cracker jack Yelper on the case!
I had my 24th birthday party here and it was a blast. On what would have been a slow Monday for the bar, the Hideaway was happy to accommodate me and my party of 35. They practically gave us the whole bar to play in. The Monday Night Football crowd didn't mind us and we didn't mind the Monday Night Football drink specials. $2 drafts, $2 shots, and $6 pitchers makes for one crazy fun birthday! The service was fantastic, the pizza was awesome (get roasted garlic on it, trust me), and the prices were so affordable. $12 for a HUGE pizza and $2 beers? Trouble and love. There's Golden Tee, a jukebox, a pool table, various bar arcade games, and a nice patio to keep everyone entertained as well. I had one of the better birthday parties I've had here and I'm a repeat customer now. So much for staying hidden.
