Break down:
Food - 5 stars
Excellent burgers. I have the Magic Shroom burger. Cooked really well. Bun was delicious. Fresh toppings.
Great truffle fries. Def worth a try.
Good milkshakes. The chocolate stout and red velvet cake shakes were both good. Not the best shake I've ever had. They are a good consistency, not too thick or too thin. Flavors could be better.
Service - 5 stars
This not what I would call a full service restaurant. They call themselves one, but it's not. You walk in (assuming the line doesn't go out the door). You get a menu in line, and you get a table number in line. You get to the cashier. You order. You pay. Then you go look for your table.
Someone brings you your food, asks if you need anything. Our server was very attentive. Got us all sorts of condiments and glasses of water etc. It's not full service though.
Price - 3.5 stars
The place is kind of expensive. For burgers, fries, and a shake, it cost me $25+. That just seems like a lot. It's not impossibly expensive, but that is a lot of money compared to their competition.
Overall - 4.5 stars
I liked it a lot. I'll be back to try other burgers and shakes. All of their cocktails looked good too. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my waist line), I can't afford to come back too often.
Glorious Gluteny. Â Â I knew I had reached a good establishment when we approached on a Thursday with a line extended the front of the joint. I was assured it would move quickly and a short while after entering the line we were given milkshake samples! The red velvet cake milkshake to be exact. Â It was so good one of my friends ordered one with his burger.
Next, the line passes right by the bar, and they let me order a beer in line! Â You can imagine the stars accumulating in my head. Â I ordered the Diablo burger and parm truffle fries. Â OMG PARM TRUFFLE FRIES. Just the right amount of truffle oil so it isn't over powering. Â The burger was perfectly cooked, super spicy due to the peppers and juicy and meaty and....why am I not there right now?
Wow. Not only is this the best burger in Dallas, I think it's the best burger that I have ever had.
The ingredients and preparation are all top-notch and I have never had a burger that bathed in it's juices so perfectly. They pride themselves on all ingredients being from local growers and those growers must be doing something right.
Buffalo Bill and the Goodnight are my two favorites. Also, the fries and shakes are great if you're splurging on your daily caloric intake. There is also a full bar with Deep Ellum draft beers available.
Plan to spend some time here before you go. It will either be a wait in line (sometimes wraps around the restaurant!) or a slight wait for food prep and delivery but it's all well, well worth it.
