I have nothing new to add. The mismatched furniture and drink glasses and crowd all make me feel at home. I will say this place is MUCH smaller than I realized! (And that's not a bad thing, I just didn't realize!) Considering what an old favorite this is for most Dallas-ites and how well-frequented it is, I have no idea where they fit all the people. (Especially when it's too damn hot for the patio.) But hey, whatever.
When I walk in and "Blue Savannah Song" starts playing and you hand me a stiff screwdriver for $2.50, you may have a hard time getting rid of me.
I just love the hell out of this place. The bar is loud but they show baseball on the TV. I took out my laptop to check something at one point and even though the bartender was really busy, he shouted over to me to ask if I needed to wifi password, and then again to offer me wireless printing if I needed it. He didn't need to do that but the service here is very friendly and pleasant.
Outside's a great place to relax when it's not too hot or humid. I've been here many times and there's always excited chatter from all the tables outside. Not been up on the roof yet but that looks cool too.
An awesome neighborhood bar that I spend probably too much time in...
I had bookmarked bar this due to the great review. I checked it out one Sunday evening with a friend. Came in and started hearing Madonna's Holiday playing on the jukebox. Good vibe so far!! This song makes me want to break out and do a little dance....make a little love..get...oh sorry....back to my review.
Anyways, we ordered a couple of Crown and coke and the drinks were stiff and cheap!! Nice combo. After the second drink, I was properly faded. The outside bar has a basketball court and a bunch of round tables. There is also a "patio" spot upstairs as well with about 3-4 small tables set up.
On that day, it appears to be predominately gay crowd. But the crowd may be more diverse on other days. It's a good time either way. I will definitely be back for the cheap drinks and soak in the fun and laid-back atmosphere.
