I'm a fan.  They had a great dark nitrous on tap.  I tried to go on their website to see what beer it was 'cause I can't remember. but their site is not good.  Not user friendly at all.  Ican't scroll because their settings are off and the pictures in the background rotate and you can't read what's on the screen.  The music was great.  They had 1 guy there who sung with an accoustic guitar.  Older guy, with white hair out of San Francisco.  I'd go back just to see him.  He was great.  The other negative thing s that they had NO coffee for those who don't drink.  They didn't have anything.  I asked for tea, nope.  I was the designated driver at that point and I didn't want to drink at that point anymore.  NOT GOOD!  And not good for those who try to drink responsibly.

We came here on a Thursday night.  They had live music which was nice.  We sat at the bar for dinner.  It was fairly busy there.  They had a promo where you can get a beer and keep the glass.  We had a couple of beers.  I like Ambers and my girlfriend likes lighter beers, she got a belgian white.  The food potions are big.  We had onion rings, fish and chips, and the pulled pork sliders.  We could not finish them all.  The cod in the f n' chips was moist.  We liked the apple slaw on the pulled pork sliders.  It combined sweet, savory and fatty.   We wtoill return.  There are a few other items we want to try out like the wings.  I have to try the wings.

Service here was terrible.  I came here on Tuesday, at around 7PM.  It took forever to find someone to give us menus, more time for somebody to come back out and take our orders, and then we had to wait a very long time for the food.  We didn't even bother trying to wave somebody down to pay the check, we just went inside.  Then inside, it was impossible to get anybody to get us our check.

The food was good, though.  The veggie burgers are black bean and there was a big load of fries that came with it.  If the service was better, I'd think of coming back, but I don't think so, unless I'm with a group or something.  Although they do have a ton of beers on tap, it's not worth the long wait.

Inside, there are a few TVs showing sports.  Outside, there's a patio area with a half dozen benches and tables.  Apparently there's no smoking in the patio area, but this rule was not enforced as there were a few people smoking within the confines of the outdoor patio area.

    Great, great beer selection!
Haven't tried to food yet, but it looks good.

They had open mic when I was there...it was great! A mix of different music, even a stand up comedian (she was very funny!)

    I'll be a regular I'm sure!

Happened upon Sprenger's yesterday because my mom wanted to go to a restaurant that was listed with her United Plus credit card (bonus points for dining). We dined with my 13 & 14 year olds. Both my kids declared "BEST burger I've ever had!!" My mom and I had the club sandwich which was also fantastic. Thick bacon, plentiful avocado, juicy tomatoes served on a roll, not toast! The french fries were perfectly crisp. The BBQ sauce on my daughter's burger was also fantastic. We will definitely be back and bring dad to try out the beer!

Beer beer beer. Oh yeah, and sweet potato fries.

Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Even better company. This place is as chill as it gets.

Sprengers is pretty darn good--  good beer (at good prices, particularly for their $2.50 Tuesday special, where nearly all beers are $2.50) and good food too-- the burgers are enormous and are cooked well.  They have a trivia night, and lots of TVs to watch sports.  It is a welcome addition to the beer scene in Santa Rosa.

Went here for the first time the other evening.  Four of us sat down at a table and although several of the workers behind the bar looked over at us, and even passed by our table a couple of times, no one came to help us.  Didn't say a word.  I walked up to the bar ... there were four empty barstools  where I went to order, and again, several of the people behind the bar walked by and looked at me and never asked what I would like.  After standing there for probably 7 minutes, I finally said "Excuse me, can I order something?".  The bartender was cold and apparently no one that works there knows how to smile.  The beer, however, was fantastic, thus the one star.  Needless to say, we left after the one beer.  VERY disappointing.  Show a little enthusiasm that people are actually coming to your establishment.  I eat out at least four times a week, I tip extremely well (especially when the waiter/ess is pleasant) and get soooo frustrated with workers that act like a patron is inconveniencing them by coming to their restaurant.

I went to Sprenger's for the first time today. Wow, what I have been missing. The onion rings are the best I've ever had. Hamburger was excellent. Large, tasty
meat patty, and a ton of fries. Great beer selection. The staff was 5*+. People kept coming to our table to see how we were doing, did we need anything else, etc. A very friendly atmosphere. I'll be going back soon.

I'm currently eating the leftovers of my burger from Sprenger's, which brings me to writing this review. Yesterday afternoon I came to Sprenger's with a friend because after not being able to decide on a happy hour to go to (pretty scarce on saturdays and sundays), my friend remembered this place having a good beer selection so we settled on going to a non-happy hour spot in order to get the beer selection that we desired.

The beer selection was pretty damn good, a couple cool IPAs I hadn't tried before and Stone beer that we tasted that I was completely surprised I hadn't come across seeing as I am a San Diego native. The beer was great, and the food was pretty good as well. I am in love with the burger I ordered; I couldn't not order it after seeing that it had ortega chilis, chorizo AND italian sausage in addition to the burger patty, and cream cheese. BAM. Done. Loved it. Still loving it as I type this. The 'black & tan' onion rings were also pretty spot on. GREAT shoestring fries. Yum.

Overall: nice atmosphere w/ friendly bar staff, good food, pretty good beer selection but not AS great as I was expecting by seeing other reviews. I think I'm just too used to some of my favorite San Diego bars' sprawling selections of local brews.

I've been to sprengers a couple times now and have yet to be impressed.

The live music is what brings me in but nearly everything else is unremarkable.
Sure they have a great beer selection, but can they compete with Russian River? No, not exactly. The prices are almost exactly the same as RR and the choices are less exciting. Sure I can get whatever type of beer I want here, but I can also go to Safeway and get six packs of most of the beer here as well.

They have a cute outdoor seating area, extension beer list, but just fall flat into the background of other great beer places in Sonoma County.

Great beer selection, like the wines. The food is way better than 'normal' pub food. The fries are great but so are the salads and burgers!! Love the environment and they have great daily deals.

I always enjoy coming here because of the atmosphere and the large selections of beer.  I think everyone can find something they like to drink here.  I appreciate having another pub in Santa Rosa.

I had high hopes for this place since they have a large beer selection. My girlfriend and I went to meet another couple last night and had intended to have a few beers, good food, and great conversation. Instead, Sprenger's got it wrong in so many ways that ALL 4 OF US decided we are NEVER going back. Had it just been me and my gf, I would have cancelled my order and walked out (I have never actually done this in my life but I would have last night). It was that bad.

First of all, we got there at 7pm and ordered a few beers. Their selection is large, but it wasn't very impressive. They have the usual "craft brew" standards like Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Lagunitas, etc. You can get this stuff anywhere these days. Good, but I expected more surprises from a place with over a dozen taps.

Next, the food. Totally sub par. Sure, it's a pub. But for the prices they charge, yuck! There are tons of places around town where you can get a meal that is five times better for the same price (or, just as bad for 1/3 the price). As I said to my friends "This s--- might fly back home in Georgia, but we're in Sonoma county... I can't believe how bad this food is!" They all agreed. To make it more insulting, the menu described about every dish as having "vine ripe tomatoes", which we thought was odd since it's January, but whatever -- maybe they're from Chile. What arrived was nothing close to ripe. My friend said "I keep forking a salad into my mouth, but I can't actually taste the different vegetables that I see." Flavorless! This was the sorriest excuse for food I have paid $12 for since I moved here 2 years ago.

I've left the worst for last though. What really killed our evening out was the band. They weren't that great, but whatever... you can't like everything, especially bad covers of legendary bands like The Doors and The Allman Brothers. No, what really made us angry was that it was 7:30pm and the band had their amps turned all the way up. It was like being at a concert. Who books a rock band during dinner time? If it was past 9pm, sure, that's normal. But early in the night when people are out to grab a drink and catch up with their friends? F that. Maybe a light acoustic thing with no amps or speakers would be okay, but a full on band at full blast? I wonder what they are thinking.

We gave up even trying to have a conversation, because despite sitting two feet away from one another we couldn't even talk without screaming at the top of our lungs. It seemed like most of the other people were annoyed too -- many got up and left within the first couple songs. Even the waitstaff seemed to hate it. We politely asked them if they could ask the band to turn it down or take a break, and they were sympathetic, but couldn't help.

Summary: So-so beer selection; pricey mediocre food; loud band at 7:30pm makes it impossible to hang out with your friends and have a conversation. Sprenger's lost four new customers last night.

This place is fantastic. Friendly staff, and good food. They will coordinate big sports days to peoples needs (6 different games on with 9 TVs and everyone is taken care of) and have the best beer selection in town. IPA lovers need to check it out! With their addition of $2.50 Tuesdays, it has become my new favorite spot!

My boyfriend and I were so excited when we discovered Sprenger's last year. After a few visits, that excitement has dwindled. I agree with the reviewer that mentioned that this place needs to up their professionalism and customer service.

For starters, I'm not convinced the staff I experienced were even old enough to be serving alcohol, let alone drinking it during a shift while cooking a burger. I watched the girl behind the bar down 3 pints before I finished 2, and when we asked if that was okay with her boss, she explained that the owner encourages them to drink to be more social. I love taking shots with my bartenders, but I don't want to watch them get sloshed before I do. Each and every employee working had a beer in hand. I snapped a few photos of a young cook chugging a pint, so flabbergasted that he was allowed to be near a grill while drinking in an open kitchen where EVERYONE could see.

An older woman who I was told was the manager, quickly walked out yelling to her staff (and everyone in the place) that she was going to go down to La Rosa to take tequila shots with some friends. Not something that needs to be announced when I assume you are supposed to be keeping your employees on their toes.

Watching a burger being prepared was the other breaking point. Although this time I dont think it was even an employee cooking the burger... You just put the burger down on the prep area, for some reason, then on the grill, ok... Wait you just put the cheese there too! And the lettuce and tomato! Wait, where are your gloves? Wait, you're drinking a beer? Has that bacon been sitting there all day? Wait, that's YOUR burger? Glad you weren't going to serve it to a paying customer. Go ahead, don't wash your hands, just sit at the bar, eat your burger and finish your beer. Wait, WHO ARE YOU?

Stick to beer, Sprenger's, or train your staff about sanitation and cross contamination in the food industry. And try try TRY to be a little more classy with your service! I will probably return on a sunny day to grab a beer and head outside to the patio where I don't have to deal with the staff.

Nothing but great things to say about Sprengers.  They post specials daily on FaceBook & everytime I've been there all of the staff has been friendly, outgoing & helpful.  Phenomenal selection of beers to choose from & I have zero complaints on the food.   The price is right and you will come away very impressed.

ok, since my first review I have been back about 5 times...only because I love beer and they have a nice selection. Here is what I have noticed on my visits...

The professionalism sucks! I have no idea if the owner hired family and friends but the staff needs to be improved or this plase will not last...To the owner...do you not read the reviews here if not you're an idiot and your place will close soon.

There is a ditsy blond with long hair, middle aged that is behind the bar alot. She is friendly enough but a ditz...the last time I was there I could have sworn she was very buzzed. She took my order and the order of the two gals next to me...she came back twice and had to ask what we ordered! Then she said...I'm not supposed to be here I am just helping and I'm outta here ASAP. Ummm...I don't care get my order right and ease up on whatever you were on.

It has been said here a number of times, the bartenders talk way to much to each other and to their friends...HELLOOOOO customers here waiting!! I have experienced this every single time I have been here. I either had to wait to get my order in or had to wait to get anther drink...all the while the bartender was distracted by another employee or to busy yaping to a friend. To clarify...I always sit at the bar..and this has happened when there were few people there...can get real bad when they are busy...so beware.

I would never ever eat here, it is only a matter of time before they get a sanitation infraction. The last time I was there...the young skinny chef who was wearing a baseball cap...I saw him, grab a frozen chicken and throw it on the burner, then with the same unwashed hand grab a hamburger bun and put that on the burner...he did wipe his hands on his pants....then he made someone a salad....NEVER washed his hands. Then he made fries and must have killed the bag because he wadded it up and tried to make a basket into the garbage can....he missed and then just left the bag behind the can. The cabinets under the oven are stainless steele...they are now so dirty and greasy looking...that tells me that there is no real effort to clean. I do not understand why it is not their policy that the chef not clean the oven at the end of each day. It is not like you can hide the dirt, when you sit at the bar  you are staring right at the oven...take some pride and keep it clean...or better yet...take concern that you can get people sick and get closed down. This seems like it would be standard kitchen 101 but not at Sprengers...just keep pouring beer and it will all be ok...NOT, keep it up and this business or it will be closed sooner rather then later.

Look I really want to like this place...I love beer and this place would just do sooooo much more business if they would just up the professionalism, keep the kitchen clean and also train the chef on hygene and have a manager that would enforces policy...seems simple but we'll see.

You would have thought with all the comments here saying the same things...professionalism, and folks worried and about getting the squirts or worse from eating here that some action would be taken....time will tell.

Was invited there last week by a friend.  Went in for a few beers.  Lots of guys hanging and watching football.  The beer was good.  Didn't try any food that night.

My huge disappointment was the unbelievably foul language of the guy behind the counter.  He was real unhappy with the way the ballgame was going and expressed it at the top of his lungs with one very vulgar phrase after another.

Not sure if I will ever go back.. certainly not if he is behind the bar.  I'll give it one star for the overall experience.  If he wasn't there, I'd give it a three to four star rating.

I've seen only professionalism at Russian River, Bear Republic, Lagunitas, etc  Not so here.

This is a pretty solid place to grab a beer and watch the game. Personally I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but thankfully it's right downtown so it's a pretty convenient spot. They have a good selection of beers, although nothing I haven't heard of before which either means that I know a lot more about beer than I thought I did or that they have a fairly large but standard selection of beers. Last time I went I enjoyed a North Coast Pranqster and Lagunitas Hop Stoopid. The food seems really overpriced to me... I think it's $10.50 for chicken strips plus an additional $1.50 if you sub normal fries for sweet potato! The house salad is $7 and served in a tiny bowl. Everything I've tried has been yummy, but like everything else here, standard. I like the outdoor patio, staff, location, and TVS, so even though I can't say I'm in love, I'll still definitely catch a few football games here throughout the season..

My partner and I went here for the first time this Saturday afternoon. There was plenty of room, and the place was fairly comfy.  Medium noise level, nice chairs, ample TV's. After waving at the waitress to get her attention, she came over and was very pleasant. My partner, who doesn't drink alcohol, was told there was no iced tea. Really?? EVERY restaurant should have iced tea (a good one)! We started to order our food, which included some of the appetizers, the waitress said ok and walked off. We weren't finished ordering.  She had assumed that was all we wanted without asking. Bad idea.
I thought the list of beers were good, had a few special ones like the Green Flash IPA, and I enjoyed my Speakeasy IPA and Dead Guy Ale very much. The food was good, though my partner said her chicken Caesar could have been better, but I am highly concerned about what I've read here about the lack of cleanliness on on the part of the cooks. My biggest gripe however, is the poor customer service. I detest waiting while I see the the staff chatting excessively with customers or each other instead of keeping their heads up, looking out for the needs of ALL customers. I really hope things improve, so this place can stick around and I can come back. By the way owner- I told you we were there celebrating, and you never even asked what we were celebrating. Do you think I will bring family back to celebrate THEIR birthday?

This update addresses the parking hint at the end of my prior review.
Parking is still free, if you can park your car, order your food and beverage, consume it, and return to your car in 90 minutes. After that, you'll be charged for parking (except Sundays -- when you should be at Church...).

    Just so ya know...

Oh -- and we've been back to Sprenger's again. Same order as last time -- same review.
    We'll be back again.

Went to Sprenger's Tap Room for the first time one night with a girlfriend and had a great experience. I didn't have the food there but the beer and service was wonderful. The server and cook, TYLER, was just amazing! He had great customer service and a genuine attitude. He acknowledged our presence along with all the others. We didnt have to wait long to get our beer orders. The price was pretty decent also! Incredible place to go to! Would definitely recommend everyone to tip Tyler goood!

Went to this place last night. It was not overly busy and it took over 20 minutes for the bar wench to get us our drinks. We ended up just leaving and going to a better place. It would have been understandable if the following had not happened:
    1. The kids cooking food didn't look at us once and then avoid our gaze in an effort to not help us get served.
    2. The bar wench would rather re-stack the glasses in the cooler than attend to anyone else. She was also eating someones food off of the counter while we waited for service.

I refuse to go to this place again, and I will recommend the same to anyone I know going out for a beer or some food.

Really great beers on tap, 40!  Something for everyone. We go with our kids between 4-6 during the week for dinner and there is rarely a crowd.  The food is good brewpub food...the turkey club and the sweet potato aioli fries are the best.  They just revamped the menu and it has improved. We really enjoy hanging out there.

So, when Sprenger's first opened up, I loved it!  They had this long list of wine that you cannot usually find in any other tap room.  I love the atmosphere, and all of my friends love beer, so I was super excited to find a place that had so much wine, good beer, food, outdoor seating AND music!

However, last time I went in to Sprenger's, they were conveniently out of most of the cheaper glasses of wine.  I mean, I like wine, and I love good wine.  But, it's a tap room!  If I'm hanging out while everyone else is drinking beer, I don't need a super classy wine.  I want my $3.50 glass of wine that I was raving about to all my friends.  I was so excited to have a place that offered such a deal on wine (especially since it's a place we wine-lovers can go with our beer-pals).  But, the last time I convinced a friend to come with me, they were out of a lot of the wines.  I understand that a lot of people who frequent Sprenger's do not drink wine...but there are a lot of us who convince our favorite beer drinkers to go there because of the good, cheap glasses of wine.  Okay, I've gone on enough about the wine.

As for the food, I have ordered their chicken caesar salad twice!  I love it!  I don't often eat a beer joints, but I love that salad.  I tried to recreate it at home once--didn't work.

So, for those of you who have mixed parties, this place has been great in the past for those who like bar food/beer AND those who like wine/salad.  Let's hope they bring back all the wines!!

The beer selection is okay. There are few local small brewers on the wall that you won't find elsewhere.

I can't understand why they would invest more in cold storage facilities than kitchen facilities. The staff was friendly. However the beer selection was very much non eclectic.

The food I can't comment on because I simply refuse to try it. It's not particularly a splendid site to see pre-cut frozen french fries...and frozen meat patties thrown directly on the grill...

I also observed the bacon that was pre-cooked rather than made to order. The cooks were young guys...One guy used a glove to handle stuff the other guy didn't...

We've got to accept that people need to turn a profit but poor presentation and use of ingredients is not going to keep the locals coming back. I wish the staff and owners luck on improving the beer/gastropub themes in the North bay.

Totally 100% middle of the road beer bar. What have we come to when we call a few beer taps and some chairs in Santa Rosa "AMAZING" ?? Are we that hard up for a new place to drink beer at in downtown?

I didn't see anything on tap that I was totally wowed by, but I enjoyed the beers I had and the atmosphere was decent, yet a little plain. Wasn't too crowded, so there was plenty of seating inside and outside. For that reason, it is a good alternative to Russian River.

We went on a Saturday night, and the one of the guys behind the bar was being almost obnoxiously talkative with folks. He drove us to sit far away from him.

I would go back to sit for a beer with friends and good chat.

Two stars for the beer selection, but the food and service wasn't what I expected for a tap room. I'm a beer drinker and homebrewer, if you have a taproom, you need to hire staff that knows about the beers you serve, what kind they are and where the come from.. the food was mediocre bar food cooked right at the bar so the who place smells like deep fryer the who time.. Taps in Petaluma is 100 times better.

I came here with two friends around noon on a Thursday, and this place was good, but certainly not great. The beers that are on tap are your run of the mill beers that you can find at virtually any bar, but they did have a few good ones, such as Green Flash IPA, Descute's The Stoic, two of Lagunita's standards, Rogue Dead Guy, and one or two others.

The place was pretty slow - about three or four others were being served. We sat at a table - they have huge, comfy seats, and we were waited on right away. Also, there are quite a few TVs in the place. However, the server knew nothing about the beers that they had on tap - if this is a place that boasts many beers, their servers should at least know something about them, in my opinion. I ordered a Stoic and my friend ordered Green Flash, and both of our beers were watery. In their defense, they were 'changing kegs', but still.

According to my friends, the food was really good, although I didn't order food. what really dropped this down to three stars for me was the fact that the bartender (the only person serving) never waited on us after bringing us our food and our first beer - she was busy chatting with the regulars. We waited for nearly ten minutes for our check before I walked up to the bar and requested it from her. Instantly, she was very apologetic and quickly printed out our checks. I wouldn't have minded had it been busy, but she had plenty of opportunities to check up on us.

This place was so-so, nothing special, and it may get better with time, but for now, I'm going to stick with TAPS since I live within walking distance.

I would describe this place as an above-average sports bar. It's got a good beer selection: all the local standards, plus a few that you don't usually see, including Green Flash (which I love). Decent food, lots of seating, and a large outdoor space perfect for relaxing with your buddies on a warm summer evening.

    This place was great!
I judge a place by first impression, and to see how crowded this was on a Thursday night no less was my first clue that it was going to be fun. I also take cleanliness into consideration, and even as crowded and busy as they were, tables were clean and more importantly, so were the bathrooms!
The service was fast and friendly, great smiles on every employee.
Sports were on the TV's and music was on in the background which made for a really fun atmosphere.  Speaking of atmosphere, this was a family friendly place too.  There were a few families there with small children having dinner.
I am really looking forward to going back soon!

This place is AMAZING. I mean, WOW.

My friend was trying to talk us into going here for almost a week before we finally made it, and we happened to pop in because we were on our way to some other happy hours. After going in once, we just had to come back!
...Even after two other happy hours.

When we came in, we met both of the owners. They were super friendly, tended the bar, and were happy/eager to hear our feedback and tell us about their plans for the place.
There's obviously a lot of love going into this project, they've taken a bare-bones plain space and have added an awesome bar, great seating (bar and tables), a jukebox, sweet patio seating. Every aspect of what they're doing is clearly hand-picked, and in response to feedback. The place is great now, but as time goes on it's going to just keep getting better.

    Here's the skinny:
    - 50 (!) beers on tap. A lot of local stuff, but some imports too. Truly stellar microbrews that are hard to find in bottles, let alone on tap (New Belgium 1554 and Scrimshaw Pilsner are two that come to mind)
    - They do have a wine list as well, and their basic Cab Sauv. was spectacular (not to mention $3.50 a glass!) I haven't tried any of the others yet.
    - Great prices, great open space, live music during the week, and some really great people.

Plus, beer pong tournaments on Monday nights!
Well, that's not a draw for everyone, but I'm awfully tempted to try it. It also goes to show that they want the place to be fun. They want to have events and community involvement in their space.

They just opened the kitchen, so I need to get back to try the food. But I will definitely be back there soon!

    Update-
Just want back last night, turns out another event they have is a live performance by some of the members of the Sonoma County Blues Society every Wednesday night! It was a little loud, but perfect if you sit outside.
Also the 1554 was, alas, no longer available. But they still have the Scrimshaw!
The food is pretty good. Large portions, mostly standard bar fare (fries, burgers, franks, ceasar salad) and reasonably priced.
