Great dive beach bar.  Never eaten here, but for drinks, tiki bars and sunset watching on the water, it can't be beat. Great live music.

Hey it is what it is... and that is a dive on the water. Make sure and eat dinner before coming, bring lots of friends, be ready to park off of A1A. Hang under the palms or the tiki with some beers, take in the views, listen to live music and enjoy a south florida night.

Full liquor bar, on a beach like setting, with the Intracoastal as a back drop....what's not to like? Laid back Florida at it's laid back best. FYI...it's where Alan Jackson's It's 5 O'clock somewhere was shot :)

Pathetic welcoming!  Locals said it was great.  Arrived there late pm with my SERVICE DOG.  The two outside bouncers questioned me and asked "WHAT WAS MY DOG" a service for.  As one knows the ADA you can not ask that.  I had all the ID tags.  We were immediately dismissed.  I have never encountered such rudeness.  I sent a letter to the HR of Square Group and never heard back.  There are too many swell places like the Dive Bar at the Jupiter Yacht Club, where everyone is nice and welcoming.
Hopefully the ADA will contact this place.

Stopped by this place after having dinner at a nearby establishment while I was in Jupiter. I was surprised at how busy it was, but I suppose with limited late night establishments in this area this is one of the few places to go out.  It was a very nice setting on the water with a perfect view of the lighthouse.  The drink prices were fairly reasonable, but be sure dress appropriately as you will be sitting in plastic chairs on a sandy dock area.  They had live music on the night we were there, which we enjoyed as we enjoyed the evening outdoors.  Don't get too comfortable if you show up late, though, as they close pretty early due to restrictions from the neighboring homes.

This is the bar that Alan Jackson filmed his It's five-o-clock somewhere video. I was told I need to check it out and the rum punch was awesome.

Again, I am all about the tropical feel and that this is. It's a fun little tiki bar! There is some beach sand where you can sit, but it wasn't really deep enough to sink your toes in. Lot's of tables and chairs, two bars to sit at and lot's of memorabilia on the walls and ceilings. Most of this is an outside bar, there are see-through canvases to let down when it's too windy. I loved that there was a black cat that called the bar home.

The rum punch was delicious, as were the bloody mary's. They have a very small selection of bar food, hamburgers, pretzels cheese sticks.

If I'm ever back in Palm Beach, I will definitely check it out again!

Laid back tiki bar on the water with great drinks and good vibes. They have hard packed sand and palm trees for shade. One of those memorable type of bars that make you wish you lived in the area.

Went there for drinks with friends, what a nice relaxing place to hang out right on the water& relax, all they need is a few hammocks with tall tables. The bartenders are pretty and friendly, this is what I pictured Magaritaville should look like & not in the middle of a block in Key West. A not to miss if you are in the area and they installed additional flat panel TVs while I was there so it will be a great spot to watch the Superbowl.

Just stopped by again since we are here for another winter season and wanted to check it out. The view is still the reason to come here. We watched the many boats go by, some very interesting, and had something to drink.
A rum & coke and a Coors light cost $11.

After sitting for awhile, we decided to give the food another try. This is not a restaurant, but the food will fill that empty stomach in a pinch. My husband had the cheeseburger and I had the grilled chicken cutlet sandwich. Both came on a roll, with a small bag of Lays potato chips, and both were spicy, most likely from the same spice mix.

As I said in my first review, come for the waterside seating (they added some more palm trees for shade) and enjoy the view!

A friday night ended here.  The low key dive bar is full of all sorts of people.  If you're up in the Jupiter area, it's worth checking out if you want to go with a group of people and drink.

This place is awesome. If you are fortunate enough to get Susan as your bartender, she is amazing and full of fun. If you are in the Jupiter area and want some fun this is the place to be.

One of the best places in Jupiter. Has amazing views of the inlet, you can sit by the water for hours and watch the boats cruise by. Drink specials are okay, and staff is average. The atmosphere of this bar is the best part. A must visit if you visiting/passing through Jupiter.

For you the uninformed, here's the definition from the Urban Dictionary..........:
    Square Grouper:
Nickname given to bales of marijuana thrown overboard or out of airplanes. Origin is reportedly from members of the US Coast Guard in the area of Southern Florida.
"Base we've got some square groupers floating outside of Miami harbor."

Giant outside dive bar, cheap drinks in party cups in the sand on the water. WIN, WIN, WIN! And, arrive by boat if you can.

You need to relax? You need to chill? This is the place to escape. It has established itself as the place where Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet filmed a portion of the "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" music video.

I can't begin to explain the serene view of Jupiter's bayfront. It's just so damn relaxing.

You grab a beer at the bar and you place yourself, and your cohorts, at a table underneath the plethora of Palm trees. You can prop your feet up on another plastic chair or you can dig your toes into the sand. It's about relaxation.

Whether you are with guests or not, it's very easy to lose yourself in silence. There's tropical music playing in the background, but it's very subtle. This is in the afternoon. I'm sure at night when the sun goes down and the live bands are playing this place comes alive.

The menu is simple. I had a hot dog and a cheeseburger. They have a little indoor condiment area where you take care of your food.

I highly recommend this place. Check it out for yourself.

I wish this place were walking distance from my house so I could be more of a townie local here.  The free cab service is a perk, so maybe it could happen-- who knows!

It's an awesome outdoor setting on the water and great for people watching.   The clientele is super friendly, live music is great, and drinks were cheap.  I really couldn't ask for anything more.  It's the perfect post-dinner spot for drinks, especially now that I'm *cough* in my 30's *cough* and the loud techno music fake-ID crowd isn't as appealing.  I just want to drink, hear conversation instead of blindly smiling and nodding, and relax.

I also loved that you could take your drinks to the dock and dip your feet in the water.  If you're lucky, you'll be able to catch a storm off in the distance.  It's pure heaven here.

The Square Grouper was one of my favorite places that I went to in Jupiter, and also the first place! I went on a Friday early afternoon, just for drinks. The view was gorgeous and peaceful and the tables were shaded so it wasn't too hot. We managed to get a table, but it was already filling up when we got there around 3pm. The drinks come in plastic cups, but they were tasty! My margarita tasted delicious.

We didn't eat any food so I can't comment on the food, but it is definitely a great place to come for an afternoon drink to relax, enjoy the view, and talk. We had to park relatively far away from the place, so be prepared to walk a bit. It was a bit of an older, more relaxed crowd, which I enjoyed. Two thumbs up- I'll definitely be back!

I was visiting from out of town and my friend told me that this was one of the local hot spots to visit.  Such a fun experience!  Parking is a bit of a nightmare, so be ready for that.

You walk in through the front entrance and I'd say majority of this place consists of outdoor space.  We really lucked out and the evening was absolutely lovely and clear skies!  Considering I come from the Pacific NW and had left rain behind, it was refreshing to be able to kick back and relax outside...in February....and not freeze my ass off!

The bar area is under cover, in a more open type of structure.  The decor is best described as Tiki.  Not a problem with me, it's all part of the experience.  :-)

We didn't order any food, so I have no opinion there.  My friends ordered some of the specialty cocktails off of Square Grouper's menu, but I just went with my standard vodka and soda.  They did me right though and I felt like we were able to get service at the bar pretty quickly.

They had a live cover band playing on the stage.  Headed up that way for a bit to get my dance on.  Even got to play witness to a dance off between a gentleman and a lady.  Once she broke into her ninja gymnastics moves the gentleman accepted defeat and conceded.

    Bar 4 stars
    Food 0 stars

The food sucks so bad it should be illegal to serve it!  Seriously 7-11 has better food.

Go there to drink and hang out, but that's it!

This is a neat place. It has a great view of the Jupiter Inlet and the floor is covered in sand. It's so beachy and tropical, and I love the ocean breeze!

The crowd appears to be very local. Lots of middle-aged white men. Very few, if any, young adults. That crowd is probably hanging out at the nearby Guanabana's.

No one under 21 is allowed which is nice if you want to get away from those pesky teenagers that are always loitering near Jupiter-area establishments.

The atmosphere is friendly, the beer is cheap, and they have pretty decent bar food. What more can you ask for?

Really my kinda bar!  Such a chill atmosphere, everyone seems happy, live music, great drinks, what more do you need?  Simply put, it's the best bar in Jupiter and in the top five in southern Florida.  They have simple bar food, nothing special, but good to have available if needed.  Just go here for the drinks, the music, the scenery, and the people.

This is simply a beautiful bar.
It's only here to order beers, wine, and mixed drinks. Nothing else. They really have no menu (except hot dogs and bagged chips), but it's a fun place to be! It was packed at 3:30! There is a great view and it's in an interesting location right on an inlet. You're drinking right in front of the lighthouse! They have live music but not when we got there - guess that's later at night. But we got some wine, the people were extremely busy at the bar. The whole place is a cat's litter box (they have a few roaming around)! lmao, but it's a nice place to hang with friends and get cheap drinks. But when it's cold outside, it's freezing here! The breeze off the ocean will freeze your limbs.

I have been going to Square Grouper for years and still love it. Just keep in mind that it's a BAR in the sand. So don't expect foie gras and a martini. Keep it simple- get a beer and some nibbles, and enjoy yourself.

Well, it looks like a cute place on the water. Clean with sturdy and colorful chairs. One is free to let the (imported) sand slide between ones toes.

We came for some dinner and a couple of drinks.

We left after a clear lack of service. One in our group even went up to the bar to inquire on drinks. Blown off by a (not so busy) bartender. OK

It did not look like that kind of place. What a bummer.

If it's possible to feel "cool" and "in" at a dockside dive bar, the Square Grouper accomplishes that.  The location is gorgeous, and you feel compelled to exclaim "it's five o'clock somewhere" as you revel in Alan Jackson's footsteps.

However, the scramble for tables and the outrageously weak and overpriced drinks make this one not worth the trip.  If I wanted to eat shaved ice (called a "pina colada"here) I could do that at home.

I particularly enjoy unpretentious places that sell beer in bottles at reasonable prices.  The Square Grouper does all this, plus it's outdoors, with palm trees everywhere and right on the water.  What other possible rating could I give?

This is also the place where Alan Jackson filmed the "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" video.  I was with my grandmother, so there was no pouring of anything tall and/or strong.  Beer would have to do.  We grabbed pretty much the last two seats that were available, up front right on the water.  I had a Corona and watched pelicans fight over fish while my grandmother explained the history of Jupiter Inlet.  Beat it, I dare you.

This place gets crowded, so you may not always be able to grab a prime seat, especially in season.  But if you're in this area, you need to stop by.

Hey Bartenders- It's called service and that includes being nice. We are easy as it comes and I do not appreciate the rudeness of the staff. You're bartending outside, in a warm climate, surrounded by water and gorgeous boats. BE HAPPY.

We went during the NCAA tournament and it was good people watching to say the least. 1984 called- they want their clothes and hair do's back. We plopped at the bar and I was trying to make casual conversation with our guy so he'd be extra helpful. He insulted my alma mater, didn't reciprocate on the conversation and paid more attention to the drugged up locals. Cool. But of course we still gave him a 30% tip. Bet old dude with the mullet didn't. But go and enjoy the view. Don't let my attitude towards the staff deter a fun night.

Great location on the Jupiter Inlet.  This place is party central Thursday through Sunday.  The location is a perfect Floridian bar location.  They have a small stage that has been known to attract big name talent that will perform impromptu concerts when they are in town.  Drinks are decently priced...maybe a tad on the expensive side but you'll forget all about that when you chat with friends while the boats go by and watch the pelicans dive for a fish.

At night the tiki torches and the lit-up lighthouse make for a sweet backdrop to party on.  The dock is usually open and you can walk out to the water to get a closer look at Jupiter inlet.

Parking can be a nightmare.  You may get lucky and get a spot right outside the grouper entrance but most likely you will have to use the overflow lot at the top of the street...however that is not guaranteed either because it is shared amongst three other restaurants so this area gets busy at night.  Be there early or be prepared to walk.  Seriously...park where you are allowed to park...you WILL get towed from this area if you are parked illegal or in someone's lot.

This place has it made.  They make a killing because its just as laid back and paradise as you can get.  When its packed it's so much fun.  There aren't that many tables bu t if you're like me once you have a few drinks your going up  to people sitting at their table and making new friends.  My friend and I went recently and met these guys from England and they were so cool!!  It's right on the intracoastal and you have the perfect view of the lighthouse, boats, beautiful people and more.  A piece of advice though, order beer.  Their liquor drinks are pretty weak.  I ordered a cran and vodka and it was nasty, just juice but you can tell it was juice from the gun.

This is the best place to go have a beer on your lunch break when the sun is out and then go back to work feeling a little happier.

Meh.  I got there at close, and they were total jerks.  Last call at 12.  Literally kicking you at at 12:25.  We only had cheap beer, and I suppose had I been in a better mood, a $3 Land Shark would have been impressive.

    Fabulous location and space.

I love this place, not so much at night it gets really crouded i mean its fun and all but during the day to go sit around with you friends on the rare occasion that all of you dont have to work or go to school its great!! Bloddy Mary's are amazing the Mojiots are always a good choice and they have wine and beer too. Its right on the water and you just kick off your shoes bury your feet in the sand and..........party on its great if your into lounging they have tiki huts everywhere and a usually clean bathroom which is unusual for how busey it is and the beach location great view of the ocean and light house def should make a trip to the Groper if your in town

The Grouper is one of the hotest night spots around.  Great for college kids, their parents, even their grandparents.  You will see the whole range at the Grouper.
The drinks are strong, the bar is full, the bartenders are nice, and the prices are cheap.  If that wasn't enough to sell you on it, the beach atmosphere is amplified by the sand you walk on, the tiki hut tables, and the waterfront location, with a view of the Jupiter lighthouse.
Go on a night that local favorite Bryan Bobo is playing (several nights a week) the crowd comes out to hear him, and the music is perfect for this bar.

Sink your toes into the sand and drink up.  The Square Grouper is such a chill tiki bar along the intercoastal with a great view of the Jupiter Lighthouse and the ocean.

Beautiful tropical ambiance with the torches at night and all sorts of people.  Great place to come during the day too.  Since this is the most popular place to go for a drink in Jupiter, though, I try to avoid running into my parents...yeah.  Everyone comes here.  I'm so lucky to have a townie bar that takes form as gorgeous tiki bar.

So liking this lifestyle and so tempted to just stay here and never go back to NYC.

The Square Grouper is the ultimate in waterside booze-hounding.  Cold beers, stiff drinks and a location and view that can't be beaten!  Sited on the Jupiter Inlet/Intracoastal Waterway (and I mean ON, as in literally waterside), this place is less bar than sandy beach with folks happy to serve you your favorite bev!

Its Sunday night, and i had to get out of the house for a few hours.  I expected the Grouper to be laid back, and instead, its PACKED, and the talent is unbelievable - not that that helps me any.  A must-visit if you're in the area, and if you're not, worth the drive.

The Square Grouper is smack-dab across the water from the Jupiter Lighthouse.  If you want to do the sunset/lighthouse thing, do it here.

Food - not so much.  The hot dog... pass.  Hamburger will do, and now we've exhausted most of the menu.  Come for the food, the view, and the people, but either eat before or they're pretty cool about you carrying it in.

I LOVE THIS BAR! Do not miss a trip to The Square Grouper, also known as the Tiki Bar at Castaways Marina. Pull up a chair under a palm tree, let your toes dig in the white sand and order the beverage of your choice. Give me two ice cold Coronas; one for each hand. Local resident Alan Jackson filmed part of the video for his #1 hit with Jimmy Buffett at the bar and one trip will make you realize why it is everyone's favorite. It is always 5:00 somewhere so settle in and enjoy the best bar in Palm Beach county. BY FAR!
