Stopped in for a drink and quick dinner as my husband and I were passing by. We were hungry for some bar food but were pleasantly surprised the menu included some comfort food items on the dinner menu. We tried the wings, my husband is a huge fan and tries them everywhere - he loved them. My thing is French fries and these were delicious. We would not have had a second appetizer but our excellent server shared they were buy 1, get one, so we decided to try another. The tuna spring rolls were awesome, cooked to perfection. We shared sliders and a cheese steak, which of course we could not finish. Both were very good, only complaint was the large piece of weak looking tomato and bready roll on the sliders, but the burger itself was pretty good.
As for service, food was timed great and the waitress was one of the best we've had. I think her name was Courtney, ask for her! We will when we go back.
Went here with a group of 9 for dinner. Throughout the meal, drink orders were filled very slowly - we actually had to remind the waitress once. The bar was empty, and the bartenders were standing around.
The fries were good, especially dipped in ranch dressing. I got the Pub Salad minus the chicken, and it was pretty lame. Wayyyyyy too much cheese, mealy candied walnuts, and canned peaches. I mean, I was basically expecting that, but that didn't make it tasty.
People seemed to like their food okay. Nothing awful, nothing great, lackluster service.
I found myself at St. George's Pub once again a few Saturdays back. Who would have known that boyfriend and I would be living just down the street several months after my original review?
Boyfriend was craving shepherd's pie, and despite my assuring him that I'd make it one night this week for dinner, he was just being incessant about it. St. George's was not our first choice, but Irish Pub in AC only serves shepherd's pie on Mondays, so down the street we went.
We sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly, though not entirely adept at her job. Her Guinness pour was awful and my sweet tea vodka & water was mostly the latter.
Boyfriend ordered the aforementioned shepherd's pie ($15.) I chose the lunch special chili, which came with a cup of the soup of the day. Luckily for boyfriend (not so much for me,) the soup that day was Manhattan Clam Chowder.
The food took a bit to come out. I didn't mind, considering what we ordered, but I know some people get all in a tizzy if they can't stuff their faces in 10 minutes. When it did arrive, it was delicious. My chili was cheesey and gooey and tangy. I had never tasted shepherd's pie until that day, and after doing so, I could definitely see why my darling sweet boyfriend was being such a complete brat hounding me for it.
Our waitress was very sweet, offered to wrap my leftovers without my having to ask, and was quick with our change. I still feel like St. George's is on the pricey side, and the atmosphere doesn't really incline me to want to spend ample amounts of time here. I REFUSE to buy from their packaged goods section, because I just can't justify spending $17 for a $10 bottle of wine.
Still three stars for St. George's.
This place surprised me. We arrived at around 7 on a Sunday night and the restaurant seemed pretty full. They seated us almost immediately, so I thought the rest of the time we would see relatively fast service. Nope. We sat for about 15 minutes before a server came and took our drink order. Another 15 minutes passed before we saw the drinks, and half of the table had only ordered water. We took that opportunity to ask her if we could split the check (table of 6, a nuisance, but we were spending a lot on their expensive menu). She gave us a speech about how much longer it would take her to do so. We still requested she split the checks. After another 20 minutes, the appetizers arrived. The creamy crab soup was delicious! It was rich, thick and loaded with nice pieces of crab meat. I wish I had ordered a bowl. Our appetizer plates were cleared and we sat for another 30 minutes before our dinner arrived. I was hopeful that all this waiting for food had been worth it after that great soup! I was more than a little let down. I had ordered the crab salad sandwich and received what looked like uncooked crabcake mixture put on an English muffin. My friend had ordered a wedge salad and had to wait 10 minutes more before she was brought her plate. At this point, the bar was more full than the restaurant. Only 6 or so tables were seated. We were willing to be more understanding when it was packd, but this was getting ridiculous. Some of us at the table found our seafood was a little cold, but she never came back to check on us and they were so hungry they ate it anyway. The check split was dealt with and paid and we all left very unhappy. We walked out over two hours after we walked in and felt that the food had not been worth the wait.
Review Source:After a day of fishing, my cousin, myself, and my girlfriend wanted to grab something 'quick' to eat before the drive back to Philadelphia. Â We met up with some friends there as well. We got a table for 7 and the waitress got our drinks. Â She gave us a couple of 'minutes' to look over the menu. About 20 min pass by before she returned. I'm already annoyed at the service.
The food was bad, and the entire group agreed. My girlfriend ordered the crab cakes which was pretty much tasteless. Â I ordered one of the recommended dish: the pulled pork sandwich. Â Dull. Dried. Tasteless. Overall pretty disappointing. We asked for our checks and again annoyed at the speed of service, pulled out my iPhone and timed how long it would take. Â It took 12 minutes to get our check. Never going back. Terrible service. Manager came out with tons of excuses.
Holy cow. I had a BAD experience there a few yrs back, flies in the lobby, awful service and even worse food.I swore this place off...By chance work took me nearby and the fellas said lets try it at least for happy hour.My how times have changed. So much improved!. I partook in a watermelon tini that was done just right while the rest of the crew had cold beer.We ordered wings (`not the best on earth as they proclaim standard bar fare), however we also had the mozzy sticks (freakin outstanding-fresh breaded, done just right with a balanced marinara a+), and the clams casino-another winner with fresh dab of bacon on each.We truly enjoyed talking to other patrons across the bar and the service was efficient.I am so impressed by the turnaround I intend on bringing the DW and her out of town family in there next month(I am told they put a new chef in there last yr and boy does it show). The negative is the food can be pricey. 9.95 or 5 clams out of the local bay? a bit much but oh soo good.
If it stays like this or improves I will gladly pay the additional money. Can`t wait to try again.
I loved St. George's. Dined here on a Monday evening after the herd went home for Memorial Day. Always a pleasure to see everyone leaving.
St. George's has a nice feel to it. TV's are present, but aren't blaring in the background. Bathrooms were clean, and the service was attentive and friendly.
Tried the crabcake sandwich, which was served with a FRESH roll and lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. I really enjoyed the crab, it was FRESH and delicious. Homemade chips were very good.
I wouldn't hesitate to return here and I would get the same thing.
Its the "Cheers" of Brigantine, been here 3 weeks and they "know" my name, what I like to eat. Wait staff is excellent. Great bar specials. Great for lunch and dinner, really have a good "gastro style pub". Try the fish dishes, and the wings are superb especially on wed and Sunday, the 40 wings special!!! Â Great place to hang on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night too.. All ages, castes, something for everyone as well as kid friendly as they have a separate dining area. Friday nights they have live music, and I hear there's great summer karaoke (can't wait to give that a try.
I must say the on the down side, their breakfast left something to be desired. Didn't love it, I had eggs Benedict and had to send it back 2x and got told the holindase couldn't be served hot. Finally sent it back and told them I didn't want it. Which it why It got three starts instead of 4.
This is one of the better places on the island. Food is reasonable and very good. You can watch the game and enjoy the bar scene or go into the family dining room. The crowd is down to earth and service is friendly. Best bets: french onion soup, wedge salad, reuben, mussels, mexican dishes, all bar foods.
Review Source:This is a pretty good place to eat. Lots of wonderful menu items, especially the scallops which I got and chowed down like there's no tomorrow. Waitress service is really good, and the decor is average, sporting paintings of big catch fish and sailing boats, typical of a town like Brigantine. Entree prices were more than I like but I guess it's OK for a nice surf and turf dinner place like this. Oh yeah and there's a pub and bar in the next room, if you like that sort of thing, which I don't.
Review Source:A home away from home. Â I've been to all 50 states and several countries while serving in the military... this is the greatest bar I've ever been to. Â The food is great and the staff is amazing. Â In the morning try the orange juice, at night try any of the bar food. Â Wings are actually meaty and taste great. Â I can't say enough good things about St. Georges. Â And hey, they're open 24/7/365.
