This is possibly the worst joint in the world. Â It's one of those places that makes me think, "Fuck" whenever someone suggests eating here and I have no choice. Â And for those of you who say this place has the best milkshakes, you guys don't even know what the hell a milkshake is. Â And I pity you. Â Their milkshakes aren't even creamy. Â It's more like cheap flavored ice milk than anything. Â If you like ice milk, then this place is for you.
Review Source:I'm disappointed to hear the negative reviews. Â I had a wonderful experience at the grape road location. Â Food was served in under 5 min. We were helped right away. The food is anything but typical fast food. Â These are great, juicy burgers witth fresh toppings on real buns, at a cheaper than fast food price. Â It was my first time here as they dont have this in the west where I moved from. Â I love steak and shake.
Review Source:I have no problem with Steak N Shake overall. Â It is what it is, I have grown up eating at Steak N Shakes all over Indiana since I was a young child. Â You get the typical burgers, fries, and other options. Â It is one of my comfort foods.
I would give the overall Steak N Shake a 3 star rating, not the best, but not McDonald's. For me it is comfort food I grew up eating once a month or so.
But if I could give this location a negative star rating I would. Â Avoid this location like the plague. Â First off they are always slow by the SnS standard I grew up with, half the tables being full in the middle of the day is not busy, but slow for a SnS they would usually be full for lunch in most other cities. Â Yet this location somehow can not seem to get a meal served from time of sit down to time of served in less than 30 minutes. Â Sorry SNS isn't fast food, but it isn't actually a steak house, my burger should be at my table before the 30 minute mark. Â And the "managers" at this location are so inept at their jobs it is actually comical, they couldn't fix a simple request for a burger to be remade and not to have to wait another 30 minutes to have it made.
To be honest if you are looking to try SNS just skip this location. Â The best thing that could happen to SNS is it shutting down this location so anyone visiting doesn't get a bad impression. The best thing that could happen to this reviewer is this location shutting down so I am not tempted to get a taste of childhood on a lunch break and then be late getting back to work ever again.
I was vacationing and really wanted to try it. The people i was with finally caved in and decided to give it a try.
I have no idea what's wrong with these employees. I couldn't decide if they were being racist or not considering that they're somewhat close to the campus.
ANYWAYS, we walked in and it was not busy at all. There was about 4 tables being used. The hostess ruined my night. The fake blonde fake-welcomed us in. When she was going to seat us, we took some ridiculous route. She finally stopped at a table. This table was behind a booth-backrest and honestly, two more steps and you were in the bathroom. Seriously? the restaurant is NOT busy and you want to sit us near the bathroom that is obviously only meant for two people, not 3. We were obvious when we looked back at the other tables, back out ours, then at the hostess and finally asked for another table. She proceeds to take a few steps to the side and offers a retarded table corner table/ booth that seats one person on one side and 2 on the other near the fire exit. We gave up and sat down to be clearly isolated from the other four parties in the restaurant like we were lepers. The only upside was the server; he offered to seat us at a larger table AND closer to other people. He gladly explained the menu since it was our first time there.
The experience was so bad that I can't even remember the quality of the food, except that it was hot when we got it.
I wish there were Steak n Shake restaurants out here in the west. The food are alright. But they have the best milkshake out of any places I've gone since.
The restaurant also opens 24/7. So I was able to get my milkshake at anytime I wanted =) Will definitely be getting a milkshake everyday whenever I come back to Indiana to visit friends & family.
A chain joint, like a greasy spoon without the redeeming qualities. Average food (but good fries/onion rings), really good milkshakes. Redeemed by its 24/7 schedule--stop by with friends at any hour of the night, they'll be open and ready to greet you with a fake smile and their garish diner decor.
