Came here with a friend when I was visiting town and must say, it was great! Â I'm a big craft beer fanatic and the selection and quality thereof is unbeatable. Â Prices were good too. Â My friend got the steak and I got the fish and chips, both were delicious and way beyond what I expect out of a bar. Â Perfectly crisp fish and perfectly tender steak. Â After our meals we had another drink with the bartender, Â I think his name was Ryan, and had some good laughs. Â What a cool guy! Will definitely come back next time I'm in town.
Review Source:I recently visited this Pub during a wine road trip. I initially suggested we visit this bar to have a night away from red varietals we had been indulging in. I did not anticipate this place would have the quality fare they had. Although they had your typical bar food, Stout Brothers gave an exquisite spin on the classics. The Fish and Chips were cooked with an exquisitely crispy crust while maintaining a flaky and moist piece of fish. As good as the food was, let's be honest, I wanted to visit Stout Brothers for their beer. I was happy as a clam to see such an extensive beer selection.
Bottom line, Stout Brothers Irish Pub is well worth the visit if you are in the area!
Was hoping to catch some live music at Russian River Brewery this evening, but the place, which was rocking, had an hour wait, and we were hungry. Â So walking down the block, ran into an Irish Restaurant, or so it seemed.
Interestingly, the crowd here was the exact opposite - place nearly empty (that usually means something). Â Drinks took a tad long to arrive. Â Main course arrived about one minute after the salad - not well timed. Â Drunken fish burger nothing to write home about.
Lastly, I always appreciate attempts to provide an authentic Irish ambience at such ethnic eateries. Â Unfortunately, the steady stream of R&B music didn't remind me in any way of time spent on Emerald Isle. Â Perhaps the joint should change it's name to Brothas, know what I'm sayin'.
This pub is awesome. The drinks aren't expensive, and the bartenders know their stuff. On top of that, they're great to just chat with, and despite the place being busy, they'll always give individual attention. The food is good and the service is friendly. The general atmosphere is perfect both for groups and for a night out by yourself.
Basically, this pub has good food and drinks and is welcoming and very customer-oriented not just from a business perspective -- exactly what a good pub should be.
This place has the potential to be really cool but it seems that ever since Tex Wasabis closed their bar down, the douches migrated here. They need to redecorate this place to be less sleazy looking and CLEAN it once in a while. Ladies: even if you are into bros, the bathrooms will give you an std quicker.
Also, considering that Sonoma County has some incredible microbrews and ciders, and that Stout Bros is supposed to be a gastropub, you'd think they'd have made the connection by now and start offering local beer/cider. But alas, it's a poser pub and therefore a douche magnet. Avoid at all costs.
Ok so I usually come here at night with a couple of friends have a couple brew it was cool I like it here but I came here around 630 sat down had water and watched the basketball game I guess our waitress wasn't having it she got all mad cuz we didn't order food I mean we were gonna get a beer but she was being rude not coming over to check on us or anything so that's her fault and we left because another waiter told us we couldn't have any other foods in there like we didn't have anything else my friend had a bag of skittles but that's it!! When we were on our way out the old waitress told us not to come back what kind of service is that?! I like that place just not the day time crew never coming here in the day again horrible service don't fuck with that old bitch she has a stank attitude and shouldn't work there.. Everybody else is cool
Review Source:Stout Brothers has improved tremendously since the first time I went there 2 years ago. THe wait staff are knowlegable, the drinks are exquisite, and the food is excellent! Every dish ive got from there so far has been a treat, so far my boyfriend got the Bangers and mash (cooked to perfection), the Rueben was our favorite because the sour kraut was not too overpowering and the pastrami was well prepared, and their steak is also a good dish to get. All in all a good investment for a dinner or just a night out for drinks.
Review Source:I graduated SSU in 2010-while I was in college, this place was fairly new. I love the darker décor and it's in a great location. Can't go wrong with 4th street.
I haven't eaten a full meal here, but they have fun stuff like Irish nachos and fried green beans =) their happy hour specials are also amazing- it goes till 7 and half off Tuesdays!
Stout Brothers is in my hometown of Santa Rosa, CA. I have been hittin' the joint up since the ripe ol' age of 21, in fact, I made an appearance there on my 21st-birthday-bar-crawl! (Its been a few years now I guess, lol! Don't try to do the math!")
Back then, the place was brand new, had just opened, and it wowed the city and was just what 4th street needed! It quickly became one of the go-to musts of the downtown party scene! It's always packed (in a good way) and the food is great. The bartenders and servers are friendly and earn every cent of their tips, lol! I always have fun when I visit Stout Brothers!
The Luck of the Irish was definitely in my favor when I stumbled across this place in Santa Rosa. The prices were great, selection was impressive, service was friendly and well informed, and the pub fare was complimentary to the great beers on tap.
Sometimes there's nothing like a good Irish pub and the atmosphere is very chill. The bartenders definitely make a mean drink and they're great to talk to. It's crowded on Saturdays, but it's usually not overwhelming. I definitely make it a priority to come here when I'm in the area!
I've been coming here more and more often with friends. This place gets pretty crowded on Saturday nights, but it's still possible to get a table without to much struggle.
Also a big plus is their drinks are reasonably priced. Last night the bartender made my friend and I refreshing drink he called summertime. He told us up until 11 they would be 4 dollars. Not bad at all!
Downstairs as it got later and more crowded we found ourselves leaning against the bar talking to a super funny bartender. He has a beard and gives you one on one attention even though it's busy. The bartender with suspenders and horn rimmed glasses is also a sweetie! He made us a drink that tasted exactly like sour patched candies. Which, was a bit overwhelming after awhile, but still fun.
I wouldn't come here for food, but for cheap drinks and fun conversation why not?
Stay away. If I could give zero stars I would. Rude bartenders that talk amongst themselves behind the bar instead of acknowledging the customer, rude and oblivious servers that took forever to take our order, AND mediocre food.... I had higher expectations. Definitely will not be going back. Don't waste your time and money!
Review Source:I liked this place a lot. The service was very friendly, for starters. While Russian River had a 90 minute wait just down the street, this place had tables available. We ordered some various beers and foods and the stuff all came up in a timely manner.
My girlfriend and I split the club sandwich with fries. It was really good! The chicken was cooked just right and the bread was soft and flavorful.
They were prompt about topping off my unlimited soda (I wasn't drinking just yet), too. For the price, I thought it was quite good!
Contrary to my friend who reviewed the fries and said they were soggy, ours came out cooked to perfection.
The pros: Â The service is USUALLY friendly. The food is pretty good.
The cons: Â The layout of the building is awful when it gets crowded. Not to mention the people it's packed with, lots of Bro's who have something to prove. If you want to try and have any sort of a conversation it's next to impossible because the music is so loud, and you're being shoved in every direction so much that your only concern is to not spill your drink.
That being said, during the week, not so bad. Mellow, decent food. Just DON'T go on the weekends if you want to keep your sanity.
PROS:
- A bar/club hybrid on Fridays complete with a DJ, fog machine and (some) danceable tunes
- An array of seating options up & downstairs
- Drinks only $5
- No cover
- Bouncer near restroom open to watching drinks
- Crowd age range: 20s and 30s (with some 50+ folk intermixed)
CONS:
- Â Lacks space to really get down so swaying and nodding inevitably replaces actual dancing
- Â Close parking can be sparse
Went here twice on a recent trip to Santa Rosa. First visit was Saturday night, sat upstairs. Server (Dave) was awesome, food was very good (had baked macaroni and cheese). The others with me also enjoyed the experience. My father liked it so much he decided to come back Sunday for the Super Bowl. The atmosphere was also nice on Sunday.
Some strange people make their way in, but there are a lot of strange people in Santa Rosa.
Beer selection could use some help compared to all of the surrounding competitors.
Would definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Dave was personable, the service was quick, and the upstairs seating area was nice.
I went there last weekend with a friend, on a Saturday afternoon, and had a great time. Richard was our waiter and he was a super nice guy. I had the Sheperd's Pie, my friend had the Whiskey Burger and they both were great. Good beer and even better cocktails plus they are always friendly.
Review Source:Food is good. Definitely drink beer here. Stay clear Of the liquor $12 for watered-down Midori sour. Now, Midori doesn't have all that much liquor to begin with but I felt like I was drinking kool-aid. Vodka cranberry was good but expensive. It was so crowded with the worst kind of people on a Friday night. Couldn't even walk through the crowd. This place is just not my kind of crowd. Back to SF I go! This place is a good reason why I left Santa Rosa.
Review Source:Surprised to see some lousy reviews for this place but maybe I got the best bartender they have!! A guy named Ryan - this guy is awesome. Me and my buddy went there on a Sunday early evening and sat at the bar - the people there were friendly, and the bartender was Awesome. Funny, personable, knowledgeable and made an excellent cocktail.
We experimented a bit w/ some of my cocktail ideas and his and he was cool about making them and discovering new drinks. In fact the waitress was really cool too (and good looking). I mean it was a perfect atmosphere watching the Giants win, and Sunday night football was on.
So then we ordered some food - I had a tri-tip steak with mash and veggies. The steak was tender and delicious, as were the veggies (carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower) and great mashed potatoes. As an American-Irish kid we had mashed potatoes everyday growing up - I think I know when they're good and it was quite delicious.
Looking forward to going back again - Had a Blast, Also looking forward to hearing Craig, the musician - Live Music, great prices, good cocktails.
- oh, and good reasonable prices on everything. The tender and delicious steak was around $12 bucks!!!
Never again will I set foot across the Stout Brothers threshold.
I'm not going to take the time to explain all the ways this place disappointed me, but when it comes to bad business, Stout Brothers wins.
We waited 20 minutes to even be given menus, two hours to receive our food and I'm pretty sure a three-year-old was making the cocktails. It was tremendously bad food, bad service and bad experience. My friends and I were very unhappy campers.
Thanks, but no thanks. There are far better places to eat and drink in Santa Rosa.
This place was so wonderful when they first opened. However, it's has been declining on a fast slippery slope ever since. The food is awful, service is pretty good, and the place is filthy. I was sitting at the end of bar where the beer taps are located and roaches came out! Yes not once but twice! I couldn't believe it! We left immediately.
Also, for being an Irish pub, it's horrible when you have to teach the bartender how to pour a Guinness! Never straight up!
The service was a little slow, but overall it was a good experience. Â The food is tasty, and the portions are large. Â I tried the double cheeseburger. Â I am not sure how I thought I would ever finish 1lb. of hamburger.
I realized after the fact they had several options for fries. Â I will definetely try some of them in the future.
Parking can be a pain. Â There are not a lot of spots.
Ill make this short, and sweet.
Staff is personable, friendly and quick. They food is amazing ( I personally recommend either the burgers or the mac and cheese). And the drinks are to die for! They have a good variety of on tap brews and drinking specials that cant be beat. Love the vibe you get here...will return and recommend to friends and fam! This pub is a notch above the rest and the servcie and food prove it!
Sincerly,
#1 Fan :)
I wish I could give this a zero start rating. On a whim I met a friend here last night for a post-shopping happy hour beer -- we left feeling anything but happy. For starters, it was 5:00 and the most obnoxious and loud drunk guys were behind us being completely annoying. Okay....apparently the management doesn't mind this behavior as they were continuously served (when they shouldn't have!)...I mean, there should be soooooome standards for ridiculous levels of intoxication right? I was on the phone with my husband to be and one idiot was screaming and using profanity so loudly I couldn't even hear the other end of the conversation. I finally turned around and asked him to keep it down --it was only 5:00!
Secondly, the bartender Davida was hands down the rudest person I have ever encountered in the service industry. She openly mocked my girlfriend and me (take note, we are slim, dressed well and take excellent care of ourselves, she does NOT), and she made some incredibly rude remark that we should probably leave and go get pedicures after such an experience. Â Really, who says that? Â I was pretty close to telling her exactly what she could do but took the high-road and decided to yelp the devil out of that horrid experience instead. Blatant rudeness shouldn't be tolerated -- especially when you work in the SERVICE industry. Idiot.
I would never, ever go back here under any circumstance.
This place sucks...I have eaten here several times ... each time I have been overcharged on drinks and the service is non-existent. This last time is indeed the last time...here's why...
First off, note on the menu how Guiness and Boddington's Beer are claimed to be served only in a 20oz glass. This is a scam...they charge you thier "20oz" price but actually serve you a 16oz portion...or worse yet, they claim the dishwasher is down and they bring it out in a 12oz cup. Expect when the bill comes for you to be charged the full 20oz price. Very dishonest. When I asked the waiter to discount the 12oz beer in plastic cup on my bill he refused to do so and in fact took away what I had not yet finished...This really pissed me off....Why would you want to piss off a customer?
Next, when my fish and chips finally arrived after a 30 minute wait I found not 1 but 3 rodent turds in my french fries... DISGUSTING! When I pointed this out to the waiter he said he would give me a discount. WHAT? A DISCOUNT? Only thing I can figure is they dropped my basket of food and picked it up off the floor unknowingly having a few rat turds stick to the french fries in the process.
I will never eat here again...If you choose to...be warned and understand the risks.
This place is dishonest, the staff is rude, there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, and the health department needs to take a closer look in the kitchen.
This place has ripped off their last dollar from my wallet.
You want a beer...go to RBC or Aleworks or any of several other establishments in the downtown. You want to be treated rudely and have rodent feces in your food...Stout Brothers is your dive.
As much as I *try* to like this place, I just can't. It's always so crowded with some of the most annoying people I've come across in this town. I can barely walk two feet without some drunk chick who just turned 21, spilling her Jack & Coke on me.
Not to mention the service, there's usually 2 bartenders at the most, & they're slow as all hell. Not very friendly either.
& how is this place considered an Irish Pub? Just wondering. It seems like your typical, overcrowded, shitty & overrated downtown bar.
I personally doubt I'll be visiting here any time soon. I prefer places of less douche-baggery.
************* REVIEW 244 ****************
Friendly staff, plenty of beers, but if you order cocktail, go some place else! The place looks so well made, not like an Irish Pub I go to in SF.
Mix crowd from newly 21 bday boys & girls to grandpa, shockingly on a week night, the place was packed! My BFF & I were the only Asian there, yes, very diverse crowd!
They allow my friends to have beer , but they don't allow us to drink cocktails at the patio, odd!
Earlier this week, I found myself sitting at a table in the back of Stout Brothers, sipping a beer from a plastic cup and lamenting to my friend about how Stout Brothers used to be a classy place.
What happened?!
Excuse my back-in-the-day-diatribe ish, but I remember when I used to be able to come in any night of the week, grab a table up front, have staff wait on me at the table, play some dice and have good conversation with friends.
Now?
It's crowded (with way too many douchey bro dudes and skanky woo girls for my taste), it's not accommodating (I have to elbow my way through crowds of people to get to the bar to order a drink, and it's even a battle to get someone's attention to order said drink), it's noisy (I have to either go in back or yell at my companions to be heard), it's cramped (there are never tables to sit at and it's not unusual for more people to be standing than sitting), it's dirty (the bathroom garbage was tipped over with paper towels all over, and the stalls had puddles with wet toilet paper strewn about) and overall, there are better places I can spend my time and money.
I hate to drastically alter my feelings toward this place, but it just hasn't kept up with the image it set out with, and that's unfortunate. While this place used to come out on top, now it doesn't even make the list. Sad.
Can I first just say that I have been going to Stout Bros. since the first day it opened? I love this pub! The staff is nice, friendly and professional and the food is awesometastic. I have tried every burger on the menu and I have to say that they are all delish! I honestly cannot chose just one. I have also had the fish n'chips, ah brings me back to my days in England. And I have had the fried green beans. Everything is bomb here, so I will stop randomly listing off menu items.
Whether you are looking for a late-night bite, a Santa Rosa high school reunion or a nice cold beer, just go to Stout. Just do it dude. You will not be disappointed. Plus on Tuesdays, they have half off drinks and food! Pretty dope right?
When I feel like reminiscing on what it was like to be in high school again, I go to Stout Brothers, where the patrons are mainly jocks and insecure 21 year girls, with way too much make up.
The beer selection is  expensive, and not very good, and the cover bands consistently suck really really bad, to the point that I have to leave, and wonder how people could stay.
But where else is there to go?
Some good beers on tap, a full bar, and outdoor seating are all pluses. The only time I wanted to order food here I ended up giving up and going elsewhere because the server seemed like she couldn't be bothered by taking our order.
The service here is generally slow and not too interested in pleasing their customers.
We ended up here by default Saturday evening. We tried to go to the Black Rose but it was closed for a private event.
One word for this place, nasty. Between the 3 of us, we hardly touched our food. Although calling that slop food is a compliment. I think it was just solid grease with food coloring molding into food shapes. Â And the "vibe" was sleaze ball.
Yuck, gross, rather eat my own vomit through a straw, never go back, rather die of hunger or eat my own young.
It just opened two days ago. We went in to check it out yesterday on Halloween after handing out candy. The pints cost $6, I had a stout and she had an IPA. Service at the bar was fast and we went and found a spot at the front window to watch the people/freaks pass by. It has a warm cozy feel in there. Lots of wood and brick. I didn't go upstairs but I heard it's equally nice. The kitchen closes at 9:30PM, but the menu appears to be limited right now to classics like corned beef sandwiches, shepherd's pie, potato leek soup, burgers, bangers and mash, etc.
Two things i appreciated is how one wait staff member came up to us and let us know if we needed anything else to drink he would be happy to help us and we wouldn't have to leave our seats. Although we didn't need to take him up on it, he mysteriously never appeared again. An old ghost that haunts the old brick and wood building, perhaps? I dunno. But secondly, as some places become popular you get a rowdy bunch, they showed us they weren't having any of that when one fun, rowdy Halloween reveler was quickly turned out to the street after performing his imitation of a male stripper down to his red banana hammock. poor guy won't remember a thing tomorrow.
