I passed the closed Quizno's tonight and headed for this Subway.
I entered and saw someone look up from behind the counter and say "someone will be with you...shortly". Â So, I waited about 10 seconds and another employee emerged from the back area and asked me what I wanted.
I don't know Subway really well, since I've only been to the stores about 5 times since 1988. Â I usually order the Italian BMT because it's fairly close to the Italian hoagie/sub/hero that is familiar to me. Â So, nothing really different here tonight. Â I asked for olives and banana peppers and lettuce, but forgot to ask for oil and didn't get any. Â Dry sandwich, anyone? Â They didn't ask me, but I suppose the good thing is that they didn't put mayonnaise on it. Â I've been to places in Philadelphia that have done that--and re-done the sandwich.
When I got to the register, she asked me what I had and "anything else?" and I replied "Mello Yello". Â She didn't ask for here or to go and he, the sandwich maker, apparently assumed that I wanted it to go because he put it in a bag with napkins and slid it quickly down the counter so it slammed into the cash register. Â The cashier told him that he should not do that and he had some smartass reply. Â I'm surprised she didn't belt him with her arm cast.
She took my money, handed me change, and went off to do something else. Â I had to ask which cup to take since she didn't give me one. Â I guess I could have just taken a large cup since they were too busy cleaning or whatever. Â They had few customers but a lot of cars.
The sandwich was okay and surprisingly, not dry. Â The bread still isn't very good but it's a lot better than their first 3 tries way back when.
