My first true miss from Groupon. Went there last night to try out their sushi and was greatly disappointed.  First, the unagi was overcooked and rather inedible (I didn't personally eat it, but my boyfriend, who usually loves unagi, refused to take a second bite and I didn't have any desire to try it after his review). The other hot roll we got, crab tempura roll, was rather dreadful as well.  It was edible, but I can't say I particularly enjoyed it.  I think it, too, was overcooked and really just kind of mushy.

The raw sushi was not much better. We tried the salmon and the yellowtail.  The salmon was okay, but honestly I think it's impossible to entirely screw up salmon (at least from my viewpoint, as I love, love, love salmon sushi).  But one of the pieces had a jagged cut in it so that half the piece was thicker than the other half. I've really never seen such a poorly cut slice and would think that most sushi restaurants would be embarrassed to serve it. The yellowtail was edible but not melt-in-your-mouth delicious (which at a good sushi restaurant is how I would describe yellowtail). Another gripe I had was that the fish cuts were fairly skimpy compared to other sushi restaurants.  Now I can understand doing this for patrons who ordered the all-you-can-eat menu option.  But seeing as we were paying for it a-la-carte, I expected a little more quality for my money.

Finally, we ordered the chicken katsu which was okay. Nothing special.  I could have used a little more sauce as I Iove katsu sauce.  And the chicken was not very meaty at all - just tiny flat fried pieces. So overall a meh on that item.

Service was fairly meh. She never came to refill our glasses or check on things.

Overall, I will not be coming back here and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This place has a nice ambiance. The menu is very similar to the sushi palace one with some variations. But honestly, all I really care about are salmon and eel when it comes to sushi buffet. Their salmon sashimi was fresh and thickly cut. And their eel was nicely seasoned. I was pretty satisfied with my meal. But the dragon roll was pretty disappointing. Other than that, everything else seemed pretty normal for a sushi buffet.

the sashimi was fresh and tastey and seemed to be of good quality
we ordered tomkatsu as well, which was very bland and not good
The ambiance was extremely bland and I would say depressing
the music droned on and on
the service was good,  no personality at all, although not offensive in any way
It was hot and humid inside april 19 2013
I would take out the sushi and never eat inside

We had a terrific time this evening and were pleasantly surprised by the staff.  Everyone was very accommodating and the food was as good as any other sushi restaurant n the area.  Our thanks to Linda for taking care of us.  You will enjoy your visit !!

Decent prices and food. Pretty typical Japanese restaurant quality.  About what I expected for the price.

I remember when this place first opened and thinking, "Hey I should check that place out." I went there last night for the first time, after driving a little further down 27 to Sushi Palace and seeing that the line outside was longer than the line at some night clubs. Personally, i don't think any sushi buffet is worth waiting that long for, so I decided to improvise.

When I first got to Sushi King, I had to wait a few minutes (what the waitress said would be five but felt a lot more like fifteen). All of the tables in the place were full, which I thought was a good sign. When we sat down we started filling out the order sheet right away. We got tempera, calamari, kani salad, and miso soup to start. The tempera batter was not the really crispy kind that I love so much, but rather the flavorless dry kind. Kani salad was good, but should have been called cucumber salad instead because most of the crab was definitely missing. For rolls we got a Philly roll, a Kings roll, and a Deep Fried roll. The rolls were good, but nothing impressive and the Deep Fried roll was very hot in temperature and a bit fishy. And the ice cream is probably the more artificial tasting I have tried in my life, if you're in the mood for ice cream definitely go and get some from the Coldstone conveniently located next door.

Overall, can't really complain. I don't go in with high expectations to any sort of buffet, sushi or otherwise, so this was about accurate. When I feel like I need a plethora of sushi and care more about quantity than quality, would stop here again, but definitely not one of my go-to places.

Had lunch here (spicy salmon, spicy shrimp and crab, salmon avocado). Pretty mediocre sushi though inexpensive. Didn't try hot food.

I came here with a girlfriend of mine, armed with a large bottle of wine. (There's a liquor store a couple of doors down from the restaurant.) Our M.O. was simple...drink way too much, and sample as much of the menu as possible. We did the 21.99 all you can eat deal and sampled 4 or 5 rolls, about 6 more different single pieces, shrimp and crab tempura, spicy mushroom soup, calamari, chicken teriyaki, and some ice cream.

To be quite honest, nothing really stood out, except maybe the mushroom soup. The sushi was okay, our favorite was the butterfly roll, and it still was not as good as I expected from the description. The crab tempura was not very good but the shrimp tempura was of decent quality. The chicken teriyaki was tasty, but nothing that I haven't tasted before. The calamari was good but overly breaded in my opinion. I hated my green tea ice cream, it had a weird aftertaste to me, but my friend's mango ice cream was very good.

I do feel that I got my money's worth but moreso because of quantity not quality, and as many others have said, service was just not great.  I'm not even sure they brought us all of our food but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs anyway so we didn't bring it up. I don't want to know what happens to the poor souls who don't finish their food, judging by the attitude of the staff in general. The general look of the place was pretty nice, nothing too spectacular though, and I did have a nice dinner, but I wouldn't say it's a standout sushi place, especially for an area that is no stranger to raw fish.

I am rating Sushi King on their hot menu only. I've alarmingly never gotten sushi at the King.

Sushi King has a shockingly cute interior, despite it's strip mall location. The first thing I always notice is how nice the teenagers staffing the front of the house are. All the lunch specials I've gotten have been delicious and an EXCELLENT value. My favorite option is the beef negamaki, which costs a meager $8. Like all lunch specials, it comes with a huge amount of rice, a small salad, and a bowl of miso soup. The miso is unbeatable and I crave it often. I'm surprised to see other reviewers noting the small portions. Maybe their lunch menu is drastically different than the sushi menu, but it always feeds me 2 times, both of which are completely enjoyable. I highly recommend the lunch menu and will definitely be giving the regular menu a chance, out of hopeful curiosity.

Been back since first review and have the same complaints:

    1. Nigiri sushi pieces are not uniform and their rice is not well formed. Rolls are poorly formed (big overlap at the seem, bad rice/fish ratio, fish pieces not identical). These are essential components to "good" sushi!

    2. Service - they straight up ignore you unless every single morsel is cleaned from your plate or your make a very overt signal for their attention (HEY YOU, WAITER GUY). I respect the "please do not waste food," however you should make it more tasty so I will be more inclined to eat it...

Of all the local places for lunchtime sushi, this is my least favorite.  It is not bad but it does not wow me.  The service here is much better than at Sushi Palace!

Just average.  I have had all you can eat options that were much better.  The best part about this place is the variety of rolls available.  The quality wasn't that great, and I was not expecting the best quality since I know it is an all you can eat place.

Overall, there are other places in the area that are better options.

Very very small portion. But at least it is fresh. I have tasted better so won't be coming back.
