The place is absolutely beautiful, but the food ehh. For me, I always have the tuna tataki to start off with. Normally that is what puts me into wether im going to enjoy this place or not. When i ordered the tuna, it came on time, no complaints about that, but when i started to eat it, it tasted just a little weird. I thought it was me so I kept trying eating a few more pieces. Half way through, i figured out what it tasted like and it tasted like pure salt water. As if, they caught it out of the water brought it in, and never cleaned it. Just tasted like the ocean. I returned it and ordered a dragon roll, was good but the tuna for me is my thing. It needs to be good.
Review Source:It's clear they spent a lot of time and money on atmosphere and the experience, but it seems kind of a waste in both the location and the food.
Everything it just super stylish, from the seating and tables to the plates to the bathrooms and food presentation, but it seems so, well, superficially stylistic, and you're definitely paying for that instead of the food. It's not that it's not fresh, it's the minor things like amounts of mayo and sauces that are either cheap or in the wrong proportions. I did get some sashimi and it seemed fine, but the prices are pretty high considering.
They even charge for extra sauces that are woefully underrepresented or otherwise missing. Does that eel sauce really represent such a financial burden that it's required to charge $1 to provide any at all? That's something to expect out of a fast food place, not a restaurant that's trying to position itself highly in the market.
They should have spent the money to hire a more experienced head sushi chef and not spent it on HD tvs that play music videos (no, not japenese-themed videos, just general stuff) they might have given a reason to come back.
Since they're open late I might have actually done that, except my parents were complaining that they've been carpet bombing neighborhoods with door hangers. This physical spam act is not done by a place that is winning by merits of its operations, but by getting new people to enter the doors and hoping the sunk costs of driving over there will convince people to stay and pay the prices despite the  sticker shock.
This is going to be such an awkward review haha.
First of all, I love that I live 5 minutes away from this location and that it's open extremely late. Midnight weekdays, 1am Thursday's, 5am weekends. So whenever I'm fiending for a sushi fix pretty late I'm sure to come here. (plus, way healthier than Denny's or ihop for those last night outs haha)
That being said.. EVERY single time I've here has been no earlier than 11pm haha.
And my memory might be a little skewed due to these late night adventures if you know what I mean..
Secondly, I think the sushi here is pretty decent! Like I said, I come here pretty late and the sushi was still made well. My favorite roll is the current "special" which is not located in the menu but written near the sushi bar called Mia's Roll. It's so big that it will definitely fill you up. I definitely recommend it! It's so yummy and soft, wrapped in green soy paper and topped with like a crab salad.
I usually always just get that and I am full!
I've tried also the fried rice here, which is... fried rice lol. Comes with a side of "shrimp sauce" that Samurai lovers are obsessed with.
Girlfriend, fellow helper Sandy T, got the Sake Noodles which I was pleasantly surprised with. We got it with beef I believe and it's definitely something I'm going to get next time.
Overall, you have to realize that you're getting into when you come to this place. Definitely catered to the younger crowd with its over the top wannabe decadence and flat screens all over the walls playing the latest hiphop & club hits, but hey I like it! Doesn't bother me.
Definitely try the interesting Sake favors when you come. (part of the reason why I have such a hard time remembering what I ate or ordered..)
They have Mango Sake, Lychee Sake and Guava!
Lychee is for some reason too bitter for me, but you might like it. My favorite is the mango and guava.
Kinda wanna come with a big party one day just to sit at that awkward family dinner table in the back haha
Service is always decent, never an issue. Food always comes out in a timely manner, no matter how late I've gone. The only downside in my opinion is that the food is a little overpriced. But come late, try it, rock out with sushi and Kanye and enjoy it!
STAY AWAY. I really wish they'd close this place down, and just...use the space to open some other late-night establishment.
Okay. Lemme tell you. I will eat almost anything (that's what she said), and appreciate some aspect of it. Anyway, this food was straight up disgusting. I almost gagged. I ordered a sushi roll and sweet potato tempura...
I don't even...
I don't even wanna continue this review. Don't go there.
...the sushi isn't cut properly, so when you eat the raw fish, it feels like you're chewing on a slimy animal that refuses to die in your mouth. So gross. I can't even...whatever.
Staff is friendly. Place is flashy. Music sucks. (Omg, but foreal doe, the music is so wack.) Food is nasty. And EXPENSIVE. And just crap!
Pro: It's open late. (But so is Rey's Pizza across the street.)
This place sucksssssssss!!! Sushi is overpriced, gross and bland. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I'm not a sushi snob  but I have NEVER disliked sushi as I have at this place.
$3 for a coke--just a tad overpriced, no?!
What I find odd about this place is that its super nice and trendy looking, but its locating in a shopping center near a Walgreens and a Chicken Kitchen--hmm...
The most outstanding thought I had when eating these rolls was "this rice tastes dead". When that's the biggest thought I have about a sushi roll, something is very wrong.
We started with a Miso soup, and it was downhill from there. The soup had no scallions and barley any tofu. The seaweed had a consistency like it had been boiled for days until it was disintegrating. We ended up doctoring it up to eat it when we got home.
My wife ordered a JB roll. That should be Salmon with cream cheese. We got a typical Philly roll instead (Tuna & cream cheese). She also ordered a Shrimp Tempura roll that was mediocre at best. I ordered a roll called the Volcano Roll. It was billed an imitation crab and baked seafood roll. What i got was a California roll with seafood salad dumped on top.
Presentation leaves a lot to be desired when getting takeout. The didn't close our shrimp sauce (which was watered down) so it spilled everywhere. The wasabi in each take out box was watery also instead of a slightly dry  paste. The takeout staff was in attentive and consisted of two young girls more concerned with their phones than orders.
I eat Sushi a lot when traveling up and down the east coast, and I can honestly say this is one of the most disappointing places I have eaten sushi, ever.
Firstly, this place is located in an amazing location where they could easily be banking. The shopping center is located diagonally across country walk.
Let me just say that again COUNTRY WALK.
If you're from South Kendall you know where this development is.
The amount of rap/hip hop on the flat screen TVs is someone who is major in denial of the location. Firstly, sushi has nothing to do with R. Kelly. I'm sure if you gave R. Kelly a plate of sushi he wouldn't touch it. That man touches anything. I love rap/hip hop don't get me wrong. But Country Walk? Really? There's a Sedano's and Rey's Pizza across the street. Know your clientele.
If I could state an analogy for this place it would be:
sushi::r.kelly::in denial::you're in country walk not the hood::sushi sake on 15461 SW 137th Avenue.
The food is delicious, not the best sushi, but it's good for the price.
It's also really hard to find good healthy food like sushi around South Kendall. South Kendall is blue collar folk who love to order pizza on a Friday. So this is refreshing to find a joint that actually serves brown rice for a change.
The ambiance of this place is atrocious. Firstly, we aren't in the design district and the modern design does not fit Country Walk lifestyle. Secondly, the music. I cannot comment more on the poor choice of music.
They have a lot of growth opportunities in this branch, I just hope they don't close down like the other restaurants in that shopping center have in the past.
So much for fried rice, i ordered the teriyaki and an order of vegetable fried rice... Let me tell you what I got...an order of plain ugly rice , it was absolutely the worst I have ever tried, I will never go back to this place the chicken teriyaki was good but definitely not worth the price. I dont recommend this place. Try Shibui in 97avenue and sunset waaaaaay better. Ohh and by the way try sushi sake if you want to try a cheap imitation of a Cuban P. F. Changs;( Sorry Sushi Sake you need to do a little better.
Review Source:First time I ate here was with my 16 year old daughter that absolutely loves sushi. We enjoyed the atmosphere, classy decorations and super friendly staff. Considering prices, music and videos being played I would say that this is the kind of restaurant you would best leave young kids at home and enjoy an adult fun night out. Food has been consistantly awesome with every since and am to have a new upscale restaurant in our area.
Review Source:Pros: Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff
cons: Lackluster food, very high prices, inappropriate videos playing
Went there about 2 weeks after they opened. It is a very nice place with super friendly staff. However, they have flat screens playing "adult" music videos (lots of bumping/'grinding and skimpy outfits). We had our 5 year old grandson with us and I thought that was really inappropriate for 1pm on a Sunday for lunch! Maybe at midnight on a weekend!
We got a variety of rolls, sushi and appetizers. None were "terrible" but none were better then "average." Considering we could go across the street to Sushi Lico and get much better food for almost 30% cheaper, this restaurant is a dud.
I also expect it to be out of business in 6 months as everyone I have talked to that has eaten there essentially agrees. We always talk to folks at sushi lico who went to Sushi Sake once and will never go back.
I was craving some miso soup & I was too lazy to pick up anything with this cold. Sushi Sake delivers, Yippee!
The lady on the phone was really pleasant & took my order after a short wait.
The Age tofu ($5) was perfect, but the sauce a bit too sweet from others I've had in the past. This dish really it's not delivery friendly, Â but they delivered pretty fast (they said 30/40 min but I got my food in 15 min!) Â & placed a napkin to catch the moisture so the dish doesn't get soggy (unfortunately the issue before with other restaurants)
The Miso soup $3.00 was also very good and decent size for a serving. Â The veggie rolls were really fresh & they charge a $1.00 extra for brown rice. 8 pieces for $10
Overall really nice lunch option & it's a bonus they deliver ($3.00)
Only thing that took a star off was that they forgot part of the order, but the driver came back within 15 min again so no biggie.
I'll order again & hopefully they can get the 1 extra star back.
Glad they are new to the hood'!!
