Not sure what changed here, when it was sushi boat it was a little better, not much but still better. The all-you-can-eat sushi menu (14.99 lunch, 24.99 dinner) doesn't really have many options besides, tuna, and salmon-which is fine if you like those. We went for lunch, and the whole experience was below average. Service was slow until they were trying to push us out the door (they close from 2:30-4:30) the quality was not good, I don't know how else to describe it, just not good- I would rather eat rubber. Will not be coming back.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because its kinda dirty.  I would recommend taking the train apart one weekend and doing a thorough cleaing of the place.

With that said, the star of the show are the sushi chefs.  These guys are great!!!  Super funny and always screwing around with each other.  They really love their job and put on an act for the customers.  Went there one day for lunch with about 8 people for a birthday and they GAVE all of us sake bombs and all of the chefs came around the bar and did it with us.  This place is a lot of fun.

    Oh, great food too!!

If we are in the mood for sushi you are sure to find us at Sushi train!  We have dined here over 20 times and every time the sushi is wonderful!  My boyfriend and I eat a lot of sushi so the all you can eat is a great deal!  We love how friendly the staff is.  The only thing I'm not sure of about this place is the paper wads that are always stuck to the ceiling...what is that about?

I really enjoyed this place!  Came here for Happy Hour with the gang, and the staff was beyond friendly and accommodating for 15 guys.  The sushi was fast, tasty, fresh-tasting, and not a bad price.  The drinks were cheap, refreshing, and tasty.  But the best part was coming here with the girlfriend for their AYCE dinner.  That was a HECK of a deal, and I didn't have to shell out over $100 for just a bit of sushi.  We both ate to our heart's content for on the cheap (at least when it comes to sushi), and left feeling good.  The sushi masters were hilarious, fun, entertaining, and snarky in a wonderful way.  I will 100% be back.

Great prices, super friendly staff, and always a free Monkey Brain app!  The ambiance is weird with lime green walls and strange Japanese pop music, but I'll take it for good, relatively inexpensive sushi!

The place isn't the nicest.  I think it's an old Golden Corral or something but the sushi, appetizers, terriyaki, etc is UNLIMITED and free.

There are tables around the restaurant with servers constantly coming by to make sure your order is taken, the empty plates are cleared, etc.  Service is great and the sushi comes out SO FAST.

It's not grade A sushi (some of the fish are small pieces and the rice isn't as vingery as I like) but the service is awesome and it's just fun to gorge here!

Great place for a girls night out or bday celebration.

Went here for the lunch "all you can eat sushi" deal. It was very good. Both my wife and I liked the rolls and the nigri very much. The appetizers were very good too. For $15 for lunch the "all you can eat" is an extremely good deal.

Also, the staff of this restaurant are very nice. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and its got a fun feeling to it. We have a 7 month old and the staff were accommodating of her.

We will definitely be going back to this sushi restaurant again.

I have found my new sushi spot. When i first walked in and was seated. I was given a Monkey Brain Appetizer. No its not real monkey brains. TOTALLY DELICIOUS.

To officially start my meal. I ordered the Seafood Salad. Came with a big shrimp on top. Oh Man It was like eating a piece of heaven.

Then Shrimp Nigiri. The Chefs are very talented and keep the Sushi Coming out in a Steady but not to quick manner.
And they come out and do SAKE BOMBS with you. KICK A**

I went with a Philly roll, and it wasnt over packed with rice, and totally exploded with flavor in my mouth.
They explain other rolls in the menu as well, that are apart of the AYCE menu. Like the DTC roll with slices of orange inbetween it. . Words cant even explain how great that was. And You must try the Rainbow roll with assorted fish on top.

And the SUSHI comes around on a Train. That made me giggle. I do love Trains.
Its a Short Walk from the Southmoor Light Rail as well. But the Bar does get packed the later it gets. Just an FYI.

I wish I had room for Dessert.

Definitely not the best sushi I have ever had and I probably won't be back as it is very far from my house.  The staff was friendly and the food was prepared quickly.  I was expecting to see the train running but alas it was not.

What a disappointment! Place was a dump. Fish was not fresh at all and had a distinct smell/taste that you should NOT experience with FRESH and CLEAN fish.  If you go, check-out the crap that's plastered on the ceiling, above the sushi chefs...not sure what it is and pretty sure it can fall into your food at any moment! Oh, and the sushi train was broken AND there was food/nastiness all over the tracks that are right in your sight as you eat.

We went for lunch and did the all-you-can-eat. Sounded like a good deal but the quality was horrible. The amount of "good" rolls on the $14.99 all-you-can-eat were very slim. We will not be back.  We both wanted to go puke when we left because of the poor quality.

Sushi Train is tucked away in a neighborhood where few would think of looking for sushi.  The calm demeanor of this establishment says "Get ready for a sushi-gasm!"  The sushi chefs greet you with welcome in Japanese, followed by the hostess poking out to greet you.

We were immediately seated and drink orders were taken.  Everything came out visually stunning and appetizing.  Go for the red snapper.  I know when people think of sushi, red snapper might be one of the last fish they go with.  However, aside from Tuna (and albacore), red snapper is a big deal in Japan!  The sushi list goes on in my head as I write this review.  Try everything and try it with gusto.

When your sushi chefs present you with plates upon plates of freshly made sushi, don't forget to say thank you and buy them a beer!  The amount of concentration to make sushi is uncanny and a single beer will show them that you are grateful for the dishes they are making.

I enjoyed this experience.  I plan on going back soon with more friends.  I'm excited just to be thinking about my next trip!  Sit at the bar, let the train bring your sushi and let your taste buds dance a little dance!

When I heardabout the concept of sushi train, I was quite intrigued. Maybe because the whole concept is centered around the name--sushi train meaning if
you sit at the sushi bar, your sushi comes to you on a train! I've
never seen anything like that before and it's kind of my ultimate lazy girl dream so I had to see what it was all about.

We went on Tuesday night and found out not only do they have a kick
ass train but they also have all you can sushi which not only includes
sushi but also select appetizers and hot dishes. For $24, we felt that was
the best way to explore the menu and fill our bellies with sushi until
we puked. The sushi train was working at first and it was awesome
going back and forth around the sushi bar, delivering sushi to those
who sat there. Even though the sushi chefs weren't wearing a conductor
hat while operating it, it was amusing and I kept giggling every time
it passed us. A little time passed though and the sushi train started to derail (thankfully without any sushi on it because I would be diving onto the tracks to save the sushi). They ended up fixing it and thank god they did because I believe the concept of their restaurant would completely fall apart if the train didn't work, yes?

The sushi chefs were amazing-entertaining but not in
your business, personable and efficient. Plus they had a tip jar that
said "Tips are like jars only without the awkward contact", how cute is that? The sushi was fresh with interesting flavor combinations that I haven't seen before. Every roll I had was amazing and their white tuna and red snapper nigiri was fantastic.

Plus we went while it was happy hour which means $1 beers and $2 sake
which is absolutely insane. While ordering another beer, the waitress
asked me if I wanted this time around since happy hour was ending
soon. I looked at her in shock and said "Happy hour?" She never told
us about the happy hour so of course I wanted a $1 beer. A
Sushi Train has been my favorite sushi spot in Denver yet. I've been looking for a place that's affordable, innovative with great service and just about every place I've been to has fallen short in some department making me not want to go back. This may possibly be my new go to place!!

for an inexpensive all-you can eat dinner this is a great place. lots of rolls to choose from and the fish tends to be nice and fresh. I wish the ginger and wasabi didn't seem to have been prepared last week (it's always all dried out), but otherwise all is good.

Sushi Train is our neighborhood go-to place for sushi and it is a solid 3.5 stars in my book. We choose the all you can eat dinner option and always leave stuffed. The Choo Choo roll is one of our favorites (yes, the special rolls are included in the all you can eat option with only 2-3 exclusions). The service has always been good, too.

This review was for a carry out.  As soon as I went in, the chef's greeted welcoming you.  Seconds later, the hostess/waitress (Sat lunch) came to take my order.

FYI: Most Japanese restaurants run by Japanese owners  are closed for lunch on Saturday.

I got the usual Cali rolls (2) for about $10 plus tip (for the waitress running around with my take out).    It was rolled just right, not the flimsy way where the rolls falls apart  or not like Costco rolls where it appears to be machine pressed.

I will definetely go back and check out the train Ai Ling mentioned!

This place is awesome. They have all you can eat sushi for lunch and dinner. At dinner the majority of the specialty rolls (all but four) are included with the all you can eat deal, the four that aren't included are a $2.99 extra charge. At lunch the all you can eat deal is less expensive (almost half) but all the special rolls are an extra charge. The menu is slightly confusing when it comes to explaining about the special rolls but take my word for it, THE SPECIAL ROLLS ARE INCLUDED AT DINNER!

I've had all their regular rolls and special rolls and I can vouch for the quality and creativity. I've eaten at many sushi places in Denver, I've eaten at Sushi Den multiple times per year for a decade. I know what good sushi is. The only two sushi places I would even bother with in Denver are Sushi Den and Sushi Train. Both are different dining experiences. As far as the sushi... I've never compared the two sushis side by side so I can't tell you that Train is better than Den but what I can tell you is that whenever I'm at Train and I pop a delicious piece of Sushi in my mouth I'm not thinking about making comparisons. It's just good. I leave feeling satisfied and that my money was well spent.

I usually leave Train having spent about half as much as Den. This includes cocktails / saki. This is for two people. While I find it kind of pointless to go to Sushi Den alone, I have gone to Sushi Train alone quite a few times.

All-You-Can-Eat Sushi here is great if you're willing to put up with the absolutely horrid service. Or just make sure you're not sitting at the table to be served by the Asian kid with the piercings all over his face (I would have gotten his name but we saw him all of two times the entire time we were there which was THREE HOURS).

We sat down, waited half an hour to get seen. We finally fill out our first sheet, get two items off our first list. Don't see anyone for another half hour, so we start pulling aside other waiters & waitresses who are being served around us. Come to find out the kid lost our first sheet & didn't bother to tell us. No worries, we'll fill out another. FORTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER we get a few items from our second sheet, it appears they've somehow "lost" the other half of our second sheet. Really?

At this point, more than two hours have gone by & we've grown fed up of waiting. We ask to speak to the manager, he refuses to speak to us. They send one of the cooks from the back instead who gives us some excuse that they know what's going on but can't do anything about it. Really?

We press that we would much prefer to speak to the manager since yes, we know you're a cook & you can't do anything about it. That's why we asked for the manager in the first place. After about five minutes of pushing, he finally gets this guy who claims he's the manager who also proceeds to tell us there's nothing he can do about the poor service. They simply acknowledge that they know about the issue, but no apologies. Really?

Well no apologies from us for never returning there & ensuring others know about the poor service & poor management. I'm glad you all care about providing quality service to your customers. Never again.

I was right across the street at the Starbucks, meeting a classmate to finish a project.  She left after we were done, and I found myself at a loss for what to do for dinner.  Then I remembered Sushi Train, and since I have been meaning to try this place out, I walked in.

Sushi Train is a nice, big, spacious restaurant, and there's a lot of parking (it's next to a Goodwill.)  The staff were nice--smiling, attentive, not too attentive but not absent either.    I asked to be seated at the bar, and then asked about the all-you-can-eat, and they gave me my options; I'm glad they pointed out that if I could eat more than two rolls, it would be a good deal, and otherwise it wouldn't.  I generally stop after two rolls, so I opted for a la carte and got the tempura roll and the unagi roll.

The food came, delivered by the train.  It's a cute little gimmick that made me smile. ^_^  I happily dug in--both rolls were DELICIOUS!  *happy*

Unexpectedly, the train came around again with something on the back.  The chef in front of me smiled, pointed, and said, "Free appetizer."  Not one to turn down anything free, I thanked him and took it off the train bed.  It was a hollowed-out avocado, stuffed with spicy tuna.  Unfortunately for me, I'm not a fan of spicy tuna.  I ate two pieces, couldn't stand the spiciness, and left the other two pieces on the plate.  (Note: I am an extreme WIMP when it comes to spiciness.  Strangely enough, the only time I can deal is when it is wasabi or horseradish, or certain types of very mild Indian curry.  Otherwise, if it's spicy, I won't like it.)

Anyway.  Eating alone at the bar was actually rather enjoyable.  This may be weird, but I really appreciated the partition they had between the two dining spaces and the bar.  It gave the illusion of a wall behind my back, and I feel a lot better when I don't feel like people are staring at my back (I know, it's just a weird feeling, but it's so much better sitting with your back to something.)   Most places don't have this, so sitting at the bar always makes me feel uneasy because my back is completely exposed.  Don't take this to mean it's not spacious, though.  Even if the bar were full, I don't think it would feel TOO crowded.  (Not unless all the seats were occupied by sumo wrestlers, anyway.)

I also really  liked the vibe in there.  It was lively, but not noisy--there's a fine line, and the restaurant--chefs, waiters, other guests--stayed on the right side of the divide.  I wished I had someone beside me to share in this experience, but alas, hubby was away, which is why I was eating out alone.

When I was done, I got a nice surprise of a fresh orange--I hadn't expected that, but I definitely appreciated it.

Verdict: I like this place a lot.  Great food, nice atmosphere, the chefs and waiters are young and easy on the eyes... I want to come back with friends and enjoy a night out here.  I'm definitely loving Sushi Train.  I'll be back, hopefully soon.

I blame myself. No, I blame my friend who assured me that this place was good. No, actually the blame falls solely on Sushi Train for providing one of the most unenjoyable lunches and meals i've had in a while.

Some people would find me at fault for trusting a joint that does an all you can eat sushi lunch, but i've had great experiences at all you can eat lunches/dinners at Samurai, Go Fish, and Katsu in the past.  Not only was the sushi of poor quality, but the service was horrific, and the place was disgusting.

The joint looked and smelled as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks.  The interior was not kept up at all which should have been the first sign.  Additionally, it is January and they didn't have the heat on.  They had a small space hitter in a back corner that didn't project any heat at all.  We resolved to wearing our jackets for the entire meal.  As uncomfortable the temperature was, we hoped to order and eat quickly in efforts of getting in a warmer enviornment.  Unfortunately, service would not allow for that.

They neglected to take our drink orders until 15 minutes into our stay, never brought us soy sauce until the fourth time requested, never came to check in on us, clear the table, bring particular items that we ordered, or offer up a second round of "all you can eat" sushi.  I was actually content not ordering all I could eat, as the quality was far inferior than any other sushi i've had in Denver.

I would highly suggest that you do not come here, but if by some mishap you unfortunately end up here, I would strongly recommend you steer away from the baked mussels.  Probably one of the worst bites of food I've had ever.

The hubs likes sushi, I don't eat raw fish. We had the all you can eat sushi lunch.  I like the california rolls :) I liked all the sushi I tried and several of the appetizers were very tasty.
This place was so fun and friendly!  The sushi chef's greeted us cheerfully when we walked in and when we left.  The server was nice and efficient.
There is an origami tree!  It's so freakin' neat!
The hubs liked it so much, we will definitely go back!

$25 for all-you-can-eat sushi? Um, yes please.

That amount also includes soup and other appetizers and their drink menu is way cheap. Word of advice: order a Sake Bomb... even if you don't like Sake or cheap Japanese beer. Trust me on this one.

    PROS: Price, service, food.

CONS: Location and atmosphere. I didn't sit at the bar/train area because we had too many people and the chef/tenders were too loud (hyper? excitable? strange?) for my preference. If it's any indication of the confused deco: our table was next to a beautiful set of dusty bamboo sticks... stuck in a white construction-grade paint bucket.

SUMMARY: I'm fairly picky about sushi, and while not perfect, the stuff here is delicious. And let's face it: if you're expecting 5-star sushi in bulk (or in Colorado at all), you need to seriously reconsider your priorities. I'll be back.

Rolls are great - nigiri sushi is average

I tried their all-you-can-eat special for dinner last week. It's a pretty good deal. For around $30, you can order almost any of their rolls, nigiri sushi and many of their appetizers and entrees. This is not a buffet, they actually make everything to order and the portion sizes are the same as what you would get a-la-carte.

The rolls are excellent. I tried a couple of their appetizers and they were all good. On the other hand the nigiri sushi was really uninspiring.

Service was decent.  You can tell the restaurant has seen better days and the decor was a little tired.

I would probably try this place again if I am ever back in this neighborhood.

The attitude of the staff was friendly and even boisterous at times.  The service was excellent.

The building is tucked back away from the main street but at $25 for all you can eat sushi it's worth stopping and looking for it.  My usual sushi roll is tuna but the soft shell crab roll was so good here that I may have to rethink the tuna thing.

This place is right around the corner and after having driven by it many, many times, we decided to give it a try.

We sampled a variety of things. I'm not much on rolls but they have a good selection and some cool, unique stuff. Good sashimi and the tempura I tried was just as it's supposed to be. I think this place really caters to sort of a middle America, suburban folk - but that's cool. It's not trendy or hip but it's very comfortable and friendly. We will definitely eat there again.

Popped by here around 8 or so. Good small dinner crowd, with mostly everyone sitting around the bar. We were a seat or two away from the person nearest to us, and it was a nice, fun mix of people for Tuesday.

We only ordered one roll to split, the name escapes me but the outside was fried and it had crab. Plenty of food for the two of us, and the main chef sent over an order of "Monkey Brains", compliments of the house! No idea what it was, but we both loved it.

Both chefs were super entertaining, one ran around and did card tricks, the other was quiet but friendly.

Best part of the night is that, for whatever reason, they treated eight of us to a Sake Bomb!

The red bean mochi is delicious, but the tea was a bit weak. Service was perfection, our girl was perfectly attentive, the sushi came in good timing, and we never felt rushed.

The train went at the end, much to the delight of my date. It's kisch, we weren't there for the all you can eat, and we still ate plenty.

Existing by this place back in history, it was always fun to see the little (huge) neon train sign have above the establishment and wonder, who in their right mind would eat raw fish?? Fifteen years later, I would reply, why, you, of course!

Another of my group also used to live near Sushi Train and went semi-frequently herself and more recently I finally put the car in park in front of the place.

A well-lit interior with a well-pressed lady welcomed me and my party was whisked away to our table outside of the legit sushi bar where a little model train does indeed run. It supposedly carries your food to you. I'll have to return and witness the novelty first-hand. Which I will. The service for the all-you-can-eat sushi ($25/head for dinner) was fast and friendly and our waitress surely earned her tip with constant attention and drink refills.

The sushi was good and the special rolls we ordered ($6-$11 apiece) were tasty diversions from our smorgasbord of the generic rolls you can order from anywhere. My group digs on spicy tuna rolls and where some places score a C on the spice scale, Sushi Train got a solid A. They were actually spicy!

With a check of about a hundred dollars and eating our share of sushi, we strolled out of the place feeling full, but not enchanted by the entire experience; it was all pretty average. Though I know I'll someday return, it might not make top of the list.

SUSHI TRAIN-- but it has a big boat on the roof??

Evidently this place used to be called Sushi Boat under a previous owner and they just never took it off the roof. Ha ha. What ever-- I like Sushi Train.
I went over the past week with a buddy who is nicknamed the "Sushi Killer".
We got over to the Sushi Train about 6pm and found out right away why its called sushi Train.
The main sushi bar is surrounded by a working model train set. The chefs (including the owner) work their asses off to keep cranking out wonderfully crafted All-you-can-eat sushi rolls and dishes-including some great choices such as the Avalanche Roll and  their Choo Choo roll-- again usually served up right to you with the train!

    Cool!

    AND
    $1.00
    BEERS (the good stuff too!!)
    during Happy Hour!

Chatting with the owner and other patrons made our $24.99 All-You-Can-Eat Sushi destruction session really enjoyable.
We did find out that there used to be a little boat and waterway around the bar instead of the train set-- but something that cool just ends to lead to people splashing about and breaking stuff I guess. when the new owners took over- they installed the model train and started making people (including me) very happy.

My buddy and I ended up having about 7 rolls each at least!!
I was SOO stuffed - but also very happy leaving.

Until next time- I will be back= OH YES SUSHI BOAT/ TRAIN !!
    I will be back.

This place has the most disgusting baked mussels, ever. I tried to salvage the plate of putrid mollusca with a little soy sauce and Siracha but that just made it worse.

Not the sort of situation where you want to eat with chopsticks because it just prolongs the act of digesting. The green tea is pretty good, though. So that helped choke down what tasted like a fresh plate from the Tar Coast. Courtesy of British Petrol.

Sushi was okay. I can see value in the buffet. The service was a little too imposing for my taste. They kept hiding behind the counters, watching and waiting to run by and grab my plates in a deft manner. I don't like the Berlin "fuck you we're making you wait 40 minutes to clear your table" attitude, but I equally don't like the "get the hell out of this restaurant" attitude, either.

Not sure what else I expected for a seafood joint near I-25 and Hampden.

Conveyor sushi just off the highway!

Step into Sushi Train to enjoy dinner or lunch. The lunch specials are great, $1.99 for everything on the train and there's plenty of variety. There's also a deal for chicken or beef teriyaki if you are in the mood for fully cooked food.

Dinner is just as good. The train is still going strong with plates from $1.99 up to $5.99, each holding half a roll or two or more pieces of sashimi. The hubby and I also enjoy ordering off the menu. There are many interesting (bordering on silly) rolls that are creative and tasty. We have yet to be disappointed with this place.

The prices are great, we usually spend roughly $25 for a bit of saki, a handful of plates from the train, edamame, and sometimes a specialty roll from the menu. More than anything the train sells this place. Who doesn't enjoy plucking a little plate from the train as it chugs around in circles? The main chef Mike will even put wasabi refills on the front of the train for you if it's not too busy.

As other reviews have mentioned the patrons are a quite interesting as well. Last time we visited there was a guy eating wasabi by the spoonful and banging the table and crying.

Man I don't know if I should review the restaurant or the patrons, maybe both.  Ok yeah, both.

We cruised into Sushi Train at 4 PM on Saturday, technically they were not yet open but as there was a convention across the street (an anime convention no less) they opened early, yay!

That brings us to the patrons.  As we were waiting for our waitress to get sorted out and for them to start getting the train stocked up, there was another pair there ordering to go.  One of them was a regular (In her own mind) and was really loud and asking for free stuff.  Ugh.

We ordered the cucumber salad and scallop dynamite while waiting for the train to get up and running.  The salad came out quickly, was MASSIVE and was topped with seaweed.  Very very tasty, get it.

The scallops took much longer and while ok, were really nothing spectacular, you could probably skip them unless you love mayo based sauces, you really shouldn't love mayo based sauces though.

As the train got up and running, more patrons trickled in.  Did I mention it was an anime convention across the street?  Yeah.  It suuuure was!  We had the creepy older guy with wings accompanying the cute younger girl with wings and cat ears that he had clearly just picked up at the convention.  This guy had never set foot in a sushi bar or japanese restaurant of any variety before and spent copious amounts of time flapping his wings and complaining about the prices on the sushi menu.

Oh yeah, the sushi menu, if, for some reason you don't want to grab your food off of the train (what the hell is wrong with you, dude) you can order any of their specialty rolls off of the menu.  My boyfriend did that as he is a certified roll whore.  He tried the Aspen roll which is a really tasty concoction of salmon, lemon slices and various roe.  Get this one if you have tastebuds and you don't suck.

    Back to the train though.  As it chugs along you can grab whatever you want, as you wait for your order, as the full family of anime convention goers on my right did;

Two daughters, one of which was about 6, one of their friends and one very ragged looking mother chaperoning them all around in their geisha costumes complete with cat ears and stuffed wolves (I guess?  I have no eye for anime) The older girls ordered a "fancy" roll off of the menu and the mother and younger girl ordered a california roll and two pieces of unagi.  The combo came out and the two girls, who clearly had NO CLUE what it was they had ordered, took it and ate it. These two girls who sat there the entire time discussing the culturally proper way of wrapping and wearing their costumes did not realize their mistake until their actual order came out and the waitress explained what they had eaten. At that point they pawned off what they had ordered onto their mother as they wanted to save room for ice cream.

Back to the food.  As the train choo-choos about on its track you will see many things with a baked on creamy sauce.  Do not be fooled, this is mayo.  There may be other things in this sauce, there probably are other things in this sauce, but it is primarily mayo.  I don't really like mayo and therefore was not overly impressed with the sauce.

Overall I do like Sushi Train and I will definitely go back.  Despite the weird patrons that you no doubt see there often (the hotel hosts quite a few conventions), the food is decent enough and I think it's really well priced.  You can go in, grab just a plate or two off of the train and have a quick lunch for around $7 or you can order off of the menu and stuff your damn face for $30, your call!

A choo choo train?  Who wouldn't get excited about a choo choo train?  I know I was.  We walked in at 7p on a Saturday night anxiously waiting to be seated.  No one came to seat us so we just grabbed two seats at the bar, where the train was, which wasn't too difficult since there was only 6 other people dining.  I was a little disappointed already since I knew that the chances of the freshness of the sushi would go up if more people were there- higher demand, and sushi being prepared and served on the train rapidly.  We sat down and grabbed a few dishes off the train and were not too impressed.  I could tell the rolls have been rotating the bar for a bit.

We ordered some specialty rolls- again disappointment.  Despite their "specialty sauce" is tons o' baked mayo, I found the cuts of fish to be very thin and well...mushy!  Also, the smell was a little off, so we were a little concerned about stuffing our faces and getting sick later.

Sushi Trains/Boats/Automobiles are like feeding a child vegetables.  If you're with someone who has never tried sushi before, take them to this place so they can be entertained by the train and can try less eloquent rolls.  They will be distracted by the choo choo train and they won't realize the texture of the raw fish! look at the choo choo....choo choo....yaaaay!!!!!

I would not, however, go to this place if you're an experienced sushi eater.  Save your dough and your time and go somewhere that you know is going to give you quality fish.

For a sushi place in the burbs, Sushi Train is not too shabby.

You must sit at the bar.  It allows you the chance to grab items off the train as it goes by.  I tried the Cali roll, and my friend had the wontons.  Both were tasty.  Off the menu, we ordered the shrimp tempura roll and Avalanche roll.  They had a lot to choose from, so it was a tough call.  I loved the shrimp tempura; crunchy goodness that melts in your mouth.  The Avalanche was okay, too much fried batter in my opinion, but that is the way it's made so you know what you're getting into from the menu description.

The service was great!  I think the waitress forgot to put in our order right away, so she apologized every 5 minutes until it arrived.  We were in no hurry, so whatever.  For making us wait, she gave us free dessert (green tea ice cream, which was ok).  As people leave the restaurant, everyone makes an effort to say goodbye & thanks for coming.  As we left, the sushi chef said, "Goodnight.  See you tomorrow!"  That cracked me up.

I'm mostly excited about a decent sushi restaurant that I can buzz into on my lunch break -- with a choo choo train! Went here with my fab fellow Yelper/co-worker and we both got a roll off the menu (not the train). Sidenote: their lunch special is "everything from the train is just $1.99."

Well I decided to get their DTC Roll and loved it. It was enourmous and tasted very fresh. The train is very cute and all but the interesting sushi rolls are the stuff off their menu.  The service was good and the sushi chef was friendly. We will be back!

I have been to Sushi Train several times (it is in my hood).  I ordered strictly from revolving train my first couple visits.  The sushi on the train is pretty good as long as there are enough people at the bar to keep turnover at a good rate.  The train option is also very affordable.

The special roles are very creative and great tasting, but they are significantly more expensive.

The restaurant had its grand opening this Spring (new ownership, management, and chefs - I was told).  Overall the food is great and the service is pleasant.  The decorating is pretty poor and the outside still looks shabby.  There are rarely a lot of people in the restaurant which means great service (and quick) but the restaurant lacks energy as a result.

You should check it out.  You won't be dissapointed.

Nice laid back place, don't have to feel the need to dress up a bit to enjoy a good bite.  The staff is very pleasant and sent over a free roll tasting.  A good tasting one at that.

A number of inventive rolls to choose from.  I chose Mike's Special II which uses cucumber instead of rice.  Tasty.  The miso could have used a little more salt, a nice surprise since most places seem to drop a cube into each individual serving.  The rolls are huge.  Each person could order one, share with the other and be done.  15 bucks each could probably fill you up.

Yes, I will be back.  The bar has a revolving sushi option.  1/2 star addage since it's in my hood.

Pleasant service - happy staff - I like it.
The food was good - interesting menu with lots of specialty rolls. The rolls are huge, so be prepared to share or leave stuffed.
The fried oysters were ok - I've had better, but it was tasty enough. I ordered the choo choo roll, and it was good. I enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it traditional Japanese, but it was the best Americanized sushi I've had.
The cucumber salad had a lot of flavor, and a lot of seaweed, so beware if you aren't that into seaweed. I thought it was delicious.

Awesome time, awesome service, good food.

On Thursday May 08 2008, a group of 12 and I came to Sushi Train for dinner.

Some of my friends said their sushi was ok.  Some say it was good value for the portion they received be it from the Bento, Sashimi or Sushi itself.

The chef provide us "ON The House Roll" named Hampden Roll before everyone received their own order for that evening.  Indeed we were impressed by this Hampden Roll.

The chefs are originally from Korea but they have lived in San Francisco, California.  They made their move to open Sushi Train which has been operating since 1 month ago.  All in all everyone that attended that evening dinner had their fair share of experiences.

As for me I ordered these:

Estes Park Roll~ I recommend this!

    The Nigiri were:

Uni, Tobiko, Unagi, Amaebi, Hokkigai & Spicy Hotate (which is the one I like & love!!!)

I would definitely come to eat here again, to try out the different variety of sushi rolls that comes with their own unique names.  I hope Sushi Train can uphold their service like what we had that evening in many more years to come.

As for families with kids, the kids would defnitely be entertained by the miniature working train, running around the Sushi Bar table.  If you can, do seat at the Sushi Bar table.
