What won me over about this place was that they are dog friendly. I've never really seen that before. Some of the tables have their own individual tv's and the staff is off the hook funny. This place is a big fan of lagunitas..... And while I was there one of the customers brought food from Mary's pizza shack. I thought that was pretty cool that the bar allowed outside food! Definitely a winner in my book.
Review Source:After leaving Russian River Brewery, my roommate and I walked a little ways down the street to this little spot. It's beer and wine, and they have board games. These guys have Connect Four, Jenga, Battleship, Sorry, Scrabble, Outburst, a shuffleboard and tons of other games. Not to mention our bartender- Jackson- was awesome. He goofed off with us, played some great music (for the most part) and just made the whole experience at Sweet Spot pretty damn great. Did I mention that they're dog friendly, as well? That sealed the deal for me, really. I will most definitely be returning here when I do a Santa Rosa pub crawl again!
Review Source:this place is losing me! we still go because we want to watch the giants, but man its tough! they will seat you with menus then when they come to get a drink order they take the menus away and tell you the kitchen is closed! the menu is great and always sounds wonderful but the food you actually get is not so great! and if they are out of anything, like a burger they will bring you the food then tell the person they are out of the burger, so they just have to sit there while everyone else has food! THEN! the servers will be outside smoking cigs and kissing on dudes while my beer is empty! i just hate this placE! like i said before, they have a wonderful thing going for them! good beer, great menu, and t.v.'s! but the service............
Review Source:This place is perfect for a sunday afternoon/evening or just for a casual beer any time of day. Â They have tvs with sports games on all day. Â A jukebox and even live music on ocassion. You can watch tv, play shuffle board, a board game or use their WIFI to surf the web. Â Large selection of beer on tap and by the bottle. Â Wine selection as well. Â And let's not forget the food, it is my favorite part. I love love love the food here, try the curry it is GREAT! The new bartender Jackson really does a good job of keeping everyones drinks flowing, music playing, good conversation and food orders timely. Â Lets face it, the ambiance is just the half of it, people go to a bar because of the bartenders. I will keep going back as long as he is behind the bar serving up the brews and good times.
Review Source:Sweet Spot? Is that your name? Eh . . .not so much. We stopped in for a cold beer on a hot day only to realize that there was no air conditioning in the place. And the small fan on the stage in the back really did nothing to stir the air.
The bartender really couldn't be bothered to talk to us as she was "busy" chatting with the guy next to me. I finally interrupted her to get a drink.
The good news? Cheap beer and table shuffleboard in the back. But those are about the only things this place has going for it.
Never coming here again. Nothing was redeemable about this place.
The atmosphere was terrible. We were there when it was nearly empty. The sitting space was cramped and the TVs were too loud for an empty pub for the day.
The service was lackluster. We had to go to the bar to order and to pay. We were given no attention as the place was empty, except for a few regulars the staff we busy appeasing.
Worst of all, the food was really disappointing. That says a lot considering I was super hungry! I got the Jerk Chicken. Nothing about it warranted it's price and the taste was off. What I got was a thrown together sandwich with a measly piece of chicken with a thick sauce thrown on top. My friends chili and onion rings were OK. Generic and average.
I couldn't wait to leave. There is nothing Sweet about this Spot. It's not much of a Pub and not a spot to lounge... at all. Should be called the Cramped Spot.
Went to Sweet Spot Pub and Lounge with my Daughter.....
She was very hungry and wanted to eat! Â We ordered a cheese burger for her with french fries.... Â The food came quick, hot and very tasty!!!
It was one of the best burgers I have had in a while !!! Â Fries where very good too! Â
Oh yeah, you can never go wrong with there BEER either !!!
Good music too!
Would recommend to families too!
Kids menu available.
The lady and I came here one afternoon after realizing that it was going to be impossible to gain access to Russian River Brewing Co. (This was during Pliny the Younger release, nuff said).
We moseyed on in and I immediately realized that this was gonna be a nice, relaxing happy hour. Rather than having to pull out my lightsaber and fight off crazed beer geeks, we were able to sit back and enjoy some tasty brews (like others have said, they got Lagunitas for yo ass) while having my ears massaged by some reggae tunes. The food was, well...it's bar food, so you should know what to expect.
Definitely give this place a visit if you're looking to chill out and knock back some brewskis.
Great place to watch sports, plenty of veggie options, the service is super friendly, and good selection of beers.
We went for a couple of the sharks playoff games last year and we had a great time. Â They also have a good amount of tv's (for the size of the place, and a large projection screen. Â They also have shuffleboard and trivia nights. Â Along with live music and other promotional nights that sound like fun.
The menu is full of great pub food. Â The onion rings and fries were killer... we ordered several different plates and sort of shared since we were tossing them back pretty consistently. Â I had a customized veggie burger and loved how many options I had for toppings. Â
We had the same server/bartender both times... and I wish I could remember her name, she was great! Â
It's one of those places that you wonder why you don't go there more often...
Love Lagunitas... Must be said. Love this beer so much and it's pretty damn cheap on a Tuesday night.
Great experiences here over the past year with the World Cup and the Giants World Series win. Good to have a huge screen to watch these epic sports on.
This place would be downright perfect for me if they had better food. None of the food is any good. I've tried almost everything... it's overpriced ($2 more for fries with my $8 sandwich?) and always a bit bland. The chicken wings are a nonstandard hot wing that isn't anything like the "hot wings" that I'm used to.
If you like Lagunitas check it out but move on down the road for dinner.
I was pleasantly surprised. I had never heard great things about this place. We visited last week when the Giants won the world series....that excitement could make any place seem better though.
I loved their huge selection of Lagunitas beers. The food was really hit or miss. We got a quesadilla fresca that was great, but the empainaditas were really gross. The filling tasted like canned vegetables.
There is a big screen TV along one wall and lots of other other TV's around...really every seat has a view of the game. Will come back for the warriors season!
The saddest part about this place is that I do actually go there intentionally, but only when I want to have a beer in quiet, sterile solitude.
The service is horrible and unfriendly. I'm not sure if they only hire ice queens or if they train them to be ice queens once they're hired.
The first time I went in was memorable. My curiosity was killing me because this place is dead even when every other bar in town is packed. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer. I asked to see a menu. While drinking my beer I decided to order food so I set the menu down on front of me and waited for the bartender to return. She was a good looking older blonde woman but was cold as ice. There were only two or three other people in the place and she kept walking by me but wouldn't look at me when she passed. I remember thinking, get off your high horse honey, I don't want to date you, I just want to order some food.
Meanwhile another bartender came on shift. I decided that if neither one of them asks if I want another beer or to order food by the time I'm done with this beer then I am outta there. And yup, you guessed it, I may as well have been invisible so off I went.
Read the other reviews. I'm not the only one. And a three-star average? Ouch, that's bad but I'm surprised it's not lower. Look at the rating distribution. There are more 1-star reviews than 5-star. I wonder if the owner knows this but something tells me he doesn't care.
Again, why open a business if you don't want any customers? Forgive me, but Sweet Spot, YOU SUCK!!!
Too much Lagunitas on tap, no diversity in beer styles. I want to be a swinger with my beer and be promiscuous to my palette. I can't do that with Lagunitas beer.
You see folks, I'll let you in on a dirty little secret. Yeast is what makes beer. The folks at Lagunitas like to use only a few strains. It gives you that classic one dimensional flavor.
Virtually all Lagunitas beers use only one or two strains of yeast. That is why most Lagunitas drinkers like the beer.
I'm a beer snob. I like beer. I can respect that some people like Lagunitas but it's a Kraft beer and not a craft beer. Mainstream beer is fine but to  have only offer such a limited variety is pretty boring.
I'm not fond of somebody pouring my beer who has had breast augmentation surgery. It makes my beer experience fake. I really am serious about this.
Its a con. The entire place is a con. Cute tongue and cheek Lagunitas promo schwag all over the place, fake breasted bartender, drab color painted on the walls.
A sweet spot cafe would be cozy, no tables, plush couches, chairs everywhere. A stereo playing Brahms or Beethoven, now that is Sweet Spot.
It's a place to drink Lagunitas. If you love Lagunitas you'll feel right at home.
Went to the Sweet Spot this afternoon for some food and a beer, and we ended up having a fabulous time! Â First, I need to say that I am a Lagunitas girl. Â And the Sweet Spot has a wide variety of Lagunitas brews on tap, so naturally, I was a very happy girl. Â The beers are awesome, and the service was great (we went on a Sunday afternoon so it was pretty quiet). Â
The food was good - we had the fish n' chips and the fish tacos. Â Both were awesome. Â The fish was fresh tasting, and not greasy like some Fish n' Chips can be (ahem, Betty's).
Then we played some Shuffleboard! Â YES! Â I rarely find Shuffleboard tables in Santa Rosa! Â Thankfully, all those lovely afternoons I spent avoiding going to class at Chico State and instead drinking beer and playing Shuffleboard at the bars finally paid off (whatever, I still graduated). Â I am the Shuffleboard queen, and I destroyed my competitors! Â Overall, a very fun afternoon at the Sweet Spot!
As I was wrapping up the weekend with Lydia we decided to get some grub here on the way to Russian River....GOOD IDEA WHY NOT! I had some bangers and mash with plenty of Lagunitas to be had. The food was actually reallllly good and filling and not too greasy. The bartender was very friendly and if i need a sports bar to go to next time I'm downtown, this will be the place.
Review Source:This place is alright, average bar scene I guess. The beer selection is good, primarily local Lagunitas and on tap. The food is hit or miss, loved the fried mozzarella and fries, hated the chicken tenders. They do have happy hour from 3-7pm Mon-Sat with $1 off beers and appetizer specials. The bartender was really nice spilt up an 8 person bill. Strange crowd sometimes but we also ended up there on a Wed night when they have a trivia night. Not bad just a little different.
Review Source:Last night, I made the mistake of ordering a couple appetizers including the friend calamari. When the food was brought out, I could smell something off from far away. It didn't look quite right. For some reason, I still tried it. It was very much off. In that way that any cook would know it is off before sending it out unless they were blind and couldn't smell. When I brought it to the bartenders attention, she took it off the bill and was very apologetic and took it off our bill. I then chugged a second beer and then went home and at a bunch of citrus fruit in the hopes that the alcohol and acidity would help me avoid getting sick/food poisoning. That worked. But I'm going to think long and hard before I order food there again.
I'm really struggling with this review. The Sweet Spot is the little bar in Santa Rosa that I always meet up with friends at. Not because the food is the best in the world, the service is the best, or the ambiance is the best. We go here because it is usually not packed, not too loud, and they have good food and very good beer on tap (Laganitas!).
I have had some very good chili cheese fries here and the Blazin Belizian chick sandwich can be great.
I'm having a hard time getting past the obviously spoiled seafood they served me last night so I can only give them 2 stars. I'm sure I'll be back for beer but I'm not going to be ordering food again anytime soon.
Stopped in for the first time recently and was impressed. We hadn't been inside before since, normally during our downtown crawl, we'll walk by and there will be a cover (whaaaat?) But, this evening RRBC was out since it was packed to the gills and we were burned out on 3rd Street from eating there like 10 times within a few weeks. I had the fish and chips, which were really good! My wife had the fish tacos which were also yummy and we shared a bowl of their Belizian soup and some little ham and cheese sammy thing that were all good. The service was quick, pleasant and attentive. We'll definitely be back! One extra star for the lovely, sweet bartender!
Review Source:Beware...
I was permanently kicked out of this place ("86'd") for using my cell phone outside the restroom a few weeks after it opened. The owner told me I was in an employee-only area -- although he later admitted there was no sign -- and actually nearly assaulted me while I was on the phone.
He asked me to get off the phone and when I nodded and gave the universal "just one minute" hand gesture, he grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back and forcibly pushed me through the bar and out the door.
Later, I asked him what the motives behind such a drastic act and he said I deserved it for being "insubordinate" and that I should have hung up the phone immediately without taking the time to say "goodbye." This is the first time I have heard anyone refer to a customer as a "subordinate."
Something is really wrong with this guy and since this is my only real encounter with him, I can't quite say what is wrong. People like him should be behind bars -- and not the kind that serve drinks!
I'm going to let my previous review stand, but I will add that I was at the Sweet Spot tonight, and the service was fantastic. The two lady bartenders did a fine job. They could have used a bar-back, but they were kicking some ass and getting beers poured as best they can for a crowd that was thirsty.
I probably won't be back until one of two bands I enjoy play there, but I had a good time there tonight, and was pleasantly surprised by that.
At first glance, the bar seems almost indistinguishable from any other sports bar. Then I got to the list of beers available and I instantly knew what set this place apart.
While Sweet Spot carries some commercial European beers that are descent, I came to them specifically to try their line of Lagunitas beers. Seeing that it was a fairly warm day, I decided to order the Kronik while Sammy ordered the Czech Pils.
The Czech Pils is gold, brilliantly clear and with a white head. There's a slight sweet malt aroma and a moderate low hop aroma that increased as the beer warmed up. The sweet pilsner malt flavors were restrained, allowing the hop flavors to take center stage without overwhelming. The hop bitterness is only moderate in strength. Well carbonated, the Czech Pils is effervescent and clean on the palette. A good example of the style and very, very nice on this warm afteroon.
The Kronik American Strong Ale stands at 5.7% ABV. It is a clear and amber in color with a low-lasting off-white head. Sweet malt flavor upfront with moderate/moderately low hop flavor and bitterness. Unlike the Pils, the malt plays a more pronounced role. This is a really good tasting beer and surprisingly refreshing. The aromas are restrained as the beer is cold. This is a medium bodied, medium carbonated beer.
It took a couple of minutes for the bartender to take our order once we got in and we didn't hear from her or any wait staff the entire time we were there. You cannot underestimate the positives of attentive staff, even if it's just a casual, "Everything okay?". Sometimes, that little phrase is the difference between me walking out the door and ordering another beer.
Sweet Spot also has a kitchen but we didn't order any food since we ate hot dogs prior to going. While featuring primarily typical, American pub fare, I found the few items "inspired" by Belizean culture to be interesting. Reading the ingredients list, all I could tie in was that Belizean food is spicy food. Maybe those dishes are really true to culture or maybe it's just clever marketing. I'll have to find out next time I'm in town.

I enjoy watching futbol (ok soccer to most of you) and this is a great place to do it, when I don't want to sit at the bar at Rosso's and eat flatbread and drink wine.
So coming down to the Sweet Spot for some futbol, and a pint or two of something cold, certainly hits the spot. Â The empanada's aren't bad (they aren't anywhere near authentic but I digress..) Â the French Fries if you need a quick snack are pretty good too.
Their wine list is less than desirable, and the cocktails made with Soju are way too girly for a beer drinker like myself to ever consume in public so I have no comment on those. Â
I do very much enjoy their entertainment line up, although some of the night when they charge a cover -- well, THAT's Laughable. Â this IS a pub in Santa Rosa. Â
So for cold beer, some decent snacks and all the Futbol I can watch.. It's certainly a place I frequent. Â Look for me, I'll be the girl screaming at the tv, when the Chivas are on.
I've been here twice, and doubt I'll be going back. Â With so many GOOD places to get pub-grub within walking distance of Sweet Spot, I feel no need to try it again.
This last time, I ordered some kind of chicken tenders thing with fries. Â The chicken was bland, the dipping sauce was uninteresting, and the fries were most certainly from a freezer.
it's alright, nothing special. Â I've been once or twice and each time it's been dead. Â but I guess i've just gone on weeknights, so i can't really use that as my criteria cause i think that pretty much every bar will be dead on week nights. Â
I will patronize you again Sweet Spot and we will see how sweet you really are.
I like the occasional live music band, the bar games, and um oh yeah the beer on tap. Never left here unhappy. They have one big screen and one or two other tv's by the bar. looks more like a soccer aficionado bar, but pours a good beer. was never crowded like RRB a few doors down. nice little place to drop in.
Review Source:I give this place five stars because it is THE only place in Santa Rosa that can properly pour a Guinness. Â And if you're a Guinness drinker, you know how important that is!
There's live music most nights of the week, and for the most part, it's a great place to go with friends and have a pint. Â Definitely a welcome departure from most of the other bars in the area since it has more of a pub/sports bar feel and will play good music on the sound system.
