The new location has tons of TVs and is nice, new, and clean. Â It is kid friendly. Â
I have always loved Taco Mac's wings. Â Their queso is also awesome. Â
The staff is usually friendly with quick service. Â The reason for only 3 stars is the consistency of the food especially since the move. Â I am not sure what is going on at this location, but there is a ton of variation each time I go in the wing's crispiness and the amount of sauce used. Â I know you guys have set standards cause I usually get the same experience in wings at every Taco Mac I go to. Â Hope you guys sort it out so I can start going back.
I posted this review on Tripadvisor. Â I kept giving this location a chance, but I give up now until I hear of major changes in how it is run:
Let me start off by saying I have been a Taco Mac patron since 1991. I love their wings when done properly.
This Taco Mac is real close to my house. It recently relocated from a smaller location nearby. Ever since the move this place has gone down hill. I am not speaking from a small number of experiences. I have been at least 20 times since the move, but now I give up. The food has gotten inconsistent, and the service has gotten consistently bad. I had to complain about the service on my last three trips, and I never complain. On my last visit I walked out with my family because nobody bothered to come to our table after nearly 10 minutes. I sent an email to their GM, Nick. To his credit, he called me right away and left me a voicemail. Unfortunately, being that it was my third really bad experience in a row, I did not feel compelled to give Nick a chance to fix things.
I was at my neighborhood pool last weekend and asked some neighbors what they had experienced. All three complained about the service and the inconsistent food. One neighbor said she had complained multiple times as well. We all have young families so we would love for this location to be good. However, with little kids we simply can't afford to sit and wait for service or our food for over 45+ minutes.
I'm sure Nick is a good guy, and I hate for anyone to lose their job, but he is not doing a good job. Maybe Nick would be more successful at a smaller location. I promise, it isn't just me who thinks this.
Please Taco Mac, me and my neighbors want this location to get fixed, but I can't go back until you promise me you have changed how this place is managed.
Why can't this place get their service right? Â Â I have eaten here many times and have seen the service increasingly deteriorate. Â For today's meal, we were constantly managing the waitress. Â Â The drinks had to be asked for twice, the wing order was wrong, the queso was cold and hard. Â Â The food has always been just average. Â But when you add poor service, it makes it a miserable experience.
Review Source:Taco Mac...the Atlanta chain! Â So...how is it? Â Not too bad...the menu is diverse and you can usually find something that "hits the spot." Â I often go for the shrimp fajitas, as I love spiced up shrimp...
Wifey goes for more salad-y type things here...and/or the burger...
All are pretty good..not great, mind you, but solid, good...you can "count on it" type food.
Service...again...pretty solid...not spectacular...just good.
I don't understand the hate on this place, it's got a lot of good going for it -
Well first off, it's a rellocation, only been open a couple months. Â So don't even factor reviews before that for they are from an old location, that I agree had alot of issues.
The TVs... large, and plenty, and positioned well. Â I challenge you to find a place that doesn't reek of smoke and has a better TV setup within 10 miles of this place.
The food - it's bar food yep. Â I mean it's a bar. Â So there's bar food. Â And it's inexpensive mostly. Â I'd say yes it's heavy on the tex mex but a little known secret is the baked wings. Â Only this location and Prado have them, and they are very tasty, and, well hopefully slightly healthier.
The service - yep a bit slow sometimes, slower if you are on the patio, but in other places within the restaraunt the service is fine. Â It's college kids, yep, but I don't think they are intentionally lazy or anything.
Why do I come here? Â I just noticed that I have checked-in to this Taco Mac 4 times and for the life of me, I don't know why!
Well it's never bad. Â It is close. Â Lots of our friends come here. Â All true. Â But it is never great. Â Or even really good. Â And there are a bunch of bars within a couple of miles of this place that have a hell of a lot more personality.
The thing is, Taco Mac is just too godamn slick and sterile. Â The kids who work here are just a little too cute and a little too toadyish. Â And the patrons are real slicked back and smell like safeguard. Â They are also too fucking loud. Â Luke warm corporate mediocrity attracts asshats. It eats the edges of my soul.
With your flat front Khakis and Dolce rims
boisterous voice but yet so shallow
that you think your douchbag trim
does not betray your head so fallow
Its happy hour and all the sass
that you can summon to impress the lass
and finish the pint and get the free glass
a bookshelf full you will amass!
But that's for you and not for I
your beshitted little life I spy
your masters degree in beer (I sigh)
but as for I , I will drink my rye
In a darker place with those who sweat
and cuss and cry and care, and share
their broken wings and long shot bets
great guffaws from souls laid bare
there is comfort there in such a lair
To be honest I haven't had much luck with taco macs in the past and was hoping this one would change my mind a little. The first couple of times I came here, they were great. Food was good, service was good. The next few times it just got consistently worse. Extremely slow service when there just wasn't any reason for it to be slow. We were one of 3 tables in the whole place. The next 2 times I went I ended up just leaving because the server never came to our table. Anyway, the turkey and swiss pannini is pretty darn good and so is the shrimp and avocado salad. I will go back eventually and see how it's going.
Review Source:I heard recently that they relocated the Ellard Village Tmac to East Village. Â Had no idea... I am glad they did!
I was bringing home dear friends from the airport, and we were all hungry and wanted a place near home. Â They told me about this. Â And so we went. Â We went on a Thursday (which is pint night- buy BOM, keep the glass), and it had a decent crowd, but our table of 4 were seated immediately. Â
This is one of the nicer and larger Tmacs (MUCH nicer than the one near my house http://www.yelp.com/biz/… ). The patio itself is the size of most dining rooms in a typical restaurant. Â
I like the dark woods and all of the tvs, and the menu is the same. Â Tried Victoria Lager for the first time, and let me tell you, it is pretty damn good! Â I ordered a salad, which was decent as well. Â The service was on par but did slow down near the end (maybe I was just getting tired). Â This place for me, is worth the extra 5 minute drive if I want to run up my Brewniversity numbers...
A must see if you are a Tmac fan, as I do not think it will disappoint! Â I hope they can keep it up!
Alright, this is very much a Sports Bar. I never went to the old location, but this new location is nice and clean.
If you are looking to watch a game, I can't imagine them not having it on. I have never seen so many TVs in my life. They are literally EVERYWHERE, so if you want conversation...I probably wouldn't suggest coming here.
As for the food, the wings are great! They have a good variety of options as well. But they have other things such as sandwiches are good too.
Overall, this is a great place if you want to watch a game and grab some wings, if you want something more or to have a conversation...I wouldn't suggest it.
Hold everything. I think this showed up on Yelp because of web crawling software long before this location opened. Very clearly most of these reviews were from when they were located down the street and people didn't double check the actual address.
I assure you THIS location did not even open until January of 2012. Clearly most of the reviews are from when they were located at 8440 Holcomb Bridge about a mile or so east of here.
This actual location, the one by the new Target in East Roswell, is the best one I've been to. Far and away it has the most TV of any and all TMs I've seen (and I've been to a gazillion.) The booths are also more comfortable.
The food itself is, well Taco Mac. So get the wings. But as a sportsbar, it's excellent because of the many, many TVs inside and out.
Again, I'm not one to discount and impeach other reviews, but very clearly any written before 2012 are for the now defunct Ellard Village location. It's total apples and oranges as far as both draft beer and TV options.
This one clearly showed up on Yelp long before they opened their doors and people got flustered.
The wings are the best on the menu. The divide between the wings being good and everything else is a wide chasm.
Love the Brewniversity program. I love that it helps support a very wide variety of taps and bottles by encouraging product turnover. I love that it encourages me to drink lots of different things. I have yet to even consider the macrobrews (or even many of the advertising giants) and I've got a long list of uniques.
I wish it was easier to have a conversation. Stupid sports bars.
I've been to plenty of Taco Macs in the area (my favorite is the Prado location in Sandy Springs). This was the first time I've had a problem with the wings. They were gristly, which I've never experienced at TM before. We ordered two sets of wings with fries, one "hot" and one with a sweet/spicy habanero sauce. The hot wings were under sauced and the habanero wings were over sauced. They were super slick and hard to eat. I expect wings to be messy, but this was overkill.
Our waiter was just fine. I had no problems with the service. But I don't believe I will seek out this location in the future. My husband and I exclusively order the wings at TM. If the wings aren't good, there isn't much point in visiting.
I cant say much about this Taco Mac that I haven't said about the others. However, I did want to post a review because I had recently visited this location with a group of over 20 people and the service was fantastic.
I would definitely bring a large group here again (we brought our whole men's softball team post game)
We ate here for dinner last night while watching the GT game and had great service in the bar. Ashley was our waitress and she did a great job handling the crowd while we were there. I got the hollywood chicken sandwich and it was really tasty and fresh. My husband got the cobb salad with their homemade ranch dressing and it was awesome. We were excited to hear about the new location that they are moving to in January. It will be 8,000 square feet with lots of patio space near the new target super center shopping center. We will definitely be back at taco mac to watch more games since the tv's are abundant, beer selection is great and food is better than average.
Review Source:I go to Taco Mac often in other locales for a beer and to catch various sports. Â Yesterday I visited the one on Holcomb Bridge...there was only a handful of people in attendance on a day with multiple sporting events happening...I am about to tell you why. Â
1. Â It was dirty...the bar top was dirty, and the floor was downright slick. Â My shoes were slipping as if I were walking on oil as I walked across the floor to the bar.
2. Â I tried the (new) sweet potato fries...yuck. Â They were awful...told the bartender they werent good, and she still charged me for them. Â My niece could make better sweet potato fries and she is 14. Â She also poured me the wrong beer on the first one, said there would be no charge and still charged me for it.
3. Â The wait staff was homely, overweight, un-friendly, and mostly lesbian (sorry Mr. Taco Mac Manager...I have nothing against any of these in the real world, but when I am coming to your bar to pay 5 bucks or more for a beer, I expect to have attractive, friendly, professional people serving me).
4. Â All the bars in the area are currently running beer specials due to the economy. Â Taco Mac? Â Nope...5 bucks a beer for your average beer and they act like it is a bargain. Â Easy enough for me to go across the street and pay 3.50 for the same exact beer folks! Â Tilted Kilt down the street has a friendly wait staff, better food, more attractive wait staff, beer specials, and it is clean. Â Heck, TJ's across the street is a smoke pit (which I also despise), but at least they act happy to have a customer.
All in all, it's a Taco Mac...yeah, they have a lot of beers, but the worst Taco Mac I have been in. Â Opt for Tilted Kilt, Cold Brews, or Miller's Ale house if you desire a wide beer selection...they all run beer specials. Â Or Marlow's Tavern for a more upscale experience at similar prices to Taco Mac.
Are you guys kidding? Have you gotten too "corporate"? I went in tonight, had dinner, showed my "Brewniversity" card, with 12 beers already on my "report card". I ordered two more different beers, total of 14. I asked my server about the "free" T-shirt (given after 13 different beers), and was told that I would get that shirt on the NEXT visit, per policy.......are you kidding me? Â So I have to come back for the shirt, and spend more money to get it? I asked a female server about this, and she said I was right, she'd never heard about that policy, and went to get a manager. He brought me the shirt, apologized, saying he didn't know why the server told me that......yeah, right buddy. You think the public is dumb? It's not the free shirt, but the principle of the way you're doing business. Now I have the shirt, and don't even feel like wearing it.....dumbass me, huh?! Just a reminder, in this economy, you can go "from hero to zero" pretty fast!
Review Source:I'd give the Taco Mac off Holcomb Bridge another shot. Â It's super convenient, and the prices aren't as high as I remember them my first two (2) visits.
1st star - Hundreds of beers.
Yeah -- I keep forgetting that Taco Mac has a metric sh*t ton of beers on tap and in the bottle. Â Are they priced to move? Â Not necessarily, but when you have that sort of selection, why be a cheap ass (like me) and whinge about it, right? Â Just order something and enjoy the fact that it's a chain restaurant with a crazy sadistic beer selection.
2nd star - Decent bar food.
If you came to Taco Mac for Mexican food, leave now and don't look back. Â Or drink yourself stupid from the aforementioned beer list until 2 pounds of nuclear wings look like burritos.
Taco Mac is bar food, some of it reasonable, some of it not. Â They have wings and a bunch of different sauces up to the skull and crossbones level, but that's not my thing. Â There's some "Southwestern" faire, but honestly, I'd stick to the wings or the burgers.
Their standard Kenmore burger is pretty good for $9. Â It's a decently sized burger with mushrooms, onions, bacon and Swiss cheese. Â Just don't order it hotter than medium or you'll get a hockey puck. Â Comes with fries or several other choices for a side. Â Fries were plentiful and salty.
I've also had their buffalo chicken tenders for $8. Â It's chicken tenders. Â You can't screw that up, really.
3rd star - Decent service.
Our waiter on my most recent visit was pretty quick about getting us beers and food. Â This was on a Wednesday night. Â Your mileage may vary based on location.
Lost 4th and 5th stars - Not so much lost as not earned. Â It's a good bar food joint with a terrific beer selection. Â But it does sorta remind me of Chili's for alcoholics and sports fans.
This Taco Mac is okay. Â We went here late one night for a few beers and some grub. Â Although it was like 11:30pm the kitchen was still open, and I liked that because I was hungry. Â Pretty much only having one vegetarian option on their menu I ordered the Portabella Mushroom wrap. Â After about 30 minutes the wrap finally came out. Â I'm not sure what took so long because there wasn't anything on the plate that was actually cooked....interesting. Â Anyway, the wrap was good and the best part was the side of 'buffalo ranch' dressing that I requested! Â All the buffalo ranch goodness one could imagine. Â The prices were decent and the service was spot on even so late.
Ps- don't let the name confuse you- this place in no way resembles a Mexican restaurant.
I believe this Taco Mac is in the cutest, most random looking shopping center I've seen lately. It makes the Taco Mac look like a saloon or something, but that could have also been because of how dead it was on a Saturday afternoon. I completely forget about this whole World Cup thing, yet there were only 2 tables in the whole place with people watching it, and maybe some people at the bar but they weren't very vocal about anything if they were watching it.
For how dead it was, the service needed a bit of help. Thankfully it was seat yourself otherwise my friend and I would have probably given up on doing anything for the day. It took probably ten minutes to get a menu, and we somehow kept having both servers in the place helping us. This wasn't exactly working out well when both ended up bringing my friend water. The second server who showed up was WAY more helpful than the first...also she told him she wanted a glass of water second, but he brought it first. Go figure. He also suggested some other beers I should try out some time, which was pretty awesome.
The beer selection is way limited compared to other Taco Macs, which makes sense considering it is not a very large place.
It of course has the same food as every other Taco Mac, only it is horribly slow. It seemed like maybe my chicken tenders at least had to wait a little bit of time for other food, because I would have expected them to be a bit warmer.
Also I was quite surprised by how cheap it is to drink there. My friend ordered a Sex on the Beach because they were out of mint for a mojito (...what) and it was the same price as my Sweetwater Blue.
After our plans fell through, we went here to get our food and drink on. While all of my friends ate decently, I, a poor little vegan, had to get a quesadilla without cheese. This meal sucked hard. I had to fill up on fries from my friends plate.
The beer selection was good, but it felt overpriced. The service was pretty good, come to think of it. For a Thursday night this place was more dead then a friggin vampire. If you are not a bar food (is this supposed to be mexican food?) person, you might like it, if not, I say skip it.
I've been here several times with Emily K and found th efood to be edible, though I prefer the Taco Mac in Decatur. I'm going to write about the most recent time we went, though, because I think you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the way they respond to a horrible experience.
We went on a Friday night, expecting it to be busy we were pleasantly surprised at the short wait we had to get a table. When we got to our table, we were almost all immediately ready to order and our waitress came right over. Unfortunately we did not see as immediate a response to our order. Our chips and salsa took forever to get to us, I was starting to feel lightheaded from hunger when they got there, and tables who had gotten there after us were already done with their appetizers. When we finally got our food, Emily K's wrap wasn't as tasty as usual and mine and my fiance's wings were completely overcooked and not very tasty at all.
After spending a much longer time than usual trying to get our food and check (our waitress was very nice, but it seemed like she got sat with several large tables at once leaving her extremely overwhelmed), we asked to speak with the manager. He came out and talked to us, told us that we weren't the only table to have a problem with what came out of the kitchen that night and said he'd be having a talk with the kitchen staff. He took 15% off of our bill and apologized, which we thought was very generous of him-- usually you get a free appetizer if you're lucky, but they were very adamant that this was not what they expected from their staff.
With the exception of that one time, though, we've had pretty decent experiences. We've gone up there for Thanksgiving dinner once or twice and had a fine time-- the waitstaff even brought us out little ramekins of the wing sauces to try our first time there!
This location is about 2 minutes away from my house, so I really like it for the convenience factor. I've been there a few times with friends. It was one of the few places open on Thanksgiving, which was a huge plus. The staff is really nice and quick. It is a smaller location, but I've almost never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table.
Foodwise, I really enjoy the California portabello wrap and the Buffalo shrimp. Everyone always fights over the last one when we order the shrimp. It's solid food for a chain and you can't beat the beer selection. I'm not a big beer drinker, but there's always something I like when I go there.
To Thomas P., Norcross and Alpharetta have strict laws regarding ID's. If you look under 65, they have to card or they lose their liquor license. The Moe's down the road was serving alcohol to minors and they still haven't gotten their license back after almost 2 years. Also, when in the past 5 years have you been able to smoke anything indoors?
My favorite place to watch Sunday NFL Ticket!
What does a man need on Sunday afternoon? Well, if it's me and the time of the year is between Sep and Jan of any given year, the answer is very simple. Chicken wings. Beer. 16 large TVs (or more) with ALL (this is very important) NFL games on them. I find all of these at the local Taco Mac.
TVs are a-plenty. Sunday NFL ticket is on. Beers are many, many (they literally have several hundred to choose from!). And chicken wings are fantastic - some secret Taco Mac formula, no one else has the same flavor. Bottom line, this is guy-heaven... well almost.... ehh never mind, lets talk about food.
Other than the wings, standard sports bar fare applies, but quality is a bit better than average. Good burgers and sandwiches. Mex fare is also excellent - Fajitas are very fresh and smell will haunt you from another table if you don't order them. Chicken nachos plate is HUUUGE and delicious.
This particular location is more family-friendly than most, being in deep 'burbs. I sometimes bring my two toddlers with me, they get crayons and other goodies (kids meals, juices, cookies, attention of cute waitresses, etc) and generally entertain themselves and let me watch the games. On rare occasions even my sports-hating wife makes an appearance, when she's in a mood for a big, delicious fresh burger.
So tentatively I had a date, well, no...I really was supposed to have one, things happened and a reschedule was in the works. Â
I'm primed and ready to get out and grab a drink but suddenly find myself figuring on trying to rally some troops here in the office. Just as I start considerations for an exciting if not simply enjoyable Thruday evening, the email arrives..."Taco Mac for drinks after work..?" I'm in...and I didn't have to really do the coordination legwork...awesome!
Four of us met up and had a seat on the patio. Â I am by no means a beer connoisseur, I am a simple guy who grew up in the city of the King of Beers, and am blood type AB positive. Â A Bud draft will be just dandy thank you very much. Â It/they were perfectly served in a frost pint glass and went down exceptionally well.
The rest of my party, not quite as simple in their beer tastes as I, requested their passports be printed off, and had fun comparing notes and identifying to which end of the beer extreme they had yet to go. Â Our server was wonderfully patient and very willing to help when requests were made on having the printouts brought to the table along with the subsequent delay in them making up their minds.
Everyone had a drink in front of them, and the hunger pangs kicked me like a mule. Â Appetizers...? Â Tempting, especially with their great selection of wings, but I was a bit too famished. Â My tried and true Hickory Burger was on the horizon.
The burger was very good. Â A half pounder topped with barbeque sauce, (a sweet and tangy molasses-base one, my fave,) bacon, and cheddar jack cheese. Â Medium should be a bit more underdone that what was brought, but it was delicious nonetheless. Â As for the other sandwiches ordered; the Smoked Turkey and Swiss Panini looked great and was thoroughly enjoyed as was the Buffalo and Blue Cheese Chicken Sandwich.
The patio was an excellent option on this evening. Not that a terrific view is offered, ( the entrance to a gated aprt community.) The weather was beautiful, and at this time of night we were mostly joined by young couples/families and others who came out for some post-work drinks.
Our server did a great job keeping up with us, and offered to slpit the check which was greatly appreciated as I was headed out prior to the rest of the party. Â You generally cannot go wrong at most any Taco Mac and this option was right on the mark...
Now off to the Vinings where more drinks and another review will follow...it was a good night!!! Â Oh the flexibility of single life...
