Tannins Wine Bar & Bistro

I went there a month ago with a party of 8. Their happy hour specials on Thursday were great and the wine was good. The main reason I'm giving 2 stars is that they added 18% gratuity to our checks without telling us. Almost all of us didn't notice the added change so we tipped 20% on top of that and our waitress didn't mind not pointing it out. We're generous tippers typically but, I felt it was telling that it wasn't announced when our ticket was dropped. Kinda left a bad taste in the mouths of my very social group of downtown frequenters :(

I have only been in a few times for Thursday night happy hour but had an excellent experience each time. All around great service, food and wine. Atmosphere is laid back and you can come in as you are, right in the middle of downtown, Chico doesn't have anything else like it.

Great place for after work drink and small plates.  Solid clean beer tap and good wine selection.   They open at 4:00 pm even though the door may be open.   You should try it.
