The Winchester Goose is a premier craft beer bar located at the site of the historic Chico Brewery. They have an excellent selection of a variety of styles and rotate their taps often. The establishment has been completely renovated by local talent, and is itself a work of art. Featuring neatly placed burnt Doug Fir along the walls and sporting an audacious solid Black Walnut bar with a live edge that gives the place a warm, familiar feel. Some call it small, but I prefer intimate. That combined with good looking and passionate bar tenders makes this place a gem. Also check out their food menu, where you'll find locally sourced tapas and pressed sandwiches that are delicious, exotic and filling without breaking the bank. I question the motives of those here who didn't acknowledge The Winchester Goose's strengths in their reviews, and instead made a rash judgement based on nothing other than it's popularity, noise and kinks you would expect a new town bar to experience on opening night ... I mean, really? I personally did not experience a bad pour, but I agree that is not acceptable and should be acknowledged by management.
Review Source:Went to this place on a Saturday night and it was busy as I expected. Â The atmosphere was great as was the staff. Â Even starting with the very pleasant doorman. Â The bar was packed but the service was quick anyway. Â This is not your typical beer and bar food. Â Expect delicious beer and killer food. Â The prices are more than a typical Chico bar, but you get what you pay for. Â The beer, food and service are excellent! Â I will definitely be back!
Review Source:This place is a very poor attempt at a craft beer bar. The beer selection is ok, atmosphere is very dark and the task of simply ordering a beer is made very difficult. I have never seen a beer pour with so much foam which results in the bartender letting the drink sit for a couple minutes then scooping out the foam, pours more beer, scoops out more foam and repeats the process several times overall your waiting about 5 to 10 minutes for one beer.
