We ate at Tapas last weekend.  We had a few of there draft beers which were very good.  We ordered the sliders, crab cakes and something I can't remember.  The food was good.  The portions were decent size and the prices was ok.  Overall, the place is small and was busy.  The bartenders were friendly.  If you want a place to go for a beer and a bite to eat it is not a bad place.

I was hoping this place would be pretty cool.  I went there and was disappointed that the menu was a lot higher priced than other places around, and the food portions were really small.   It seems like they are trying to be trendy, but overall, due to the pricing, I wont be back.

If you're going to come here please don't order a Bud Light.  They have a great selection of beers your mama's never heard of.  I had the flatbread and it was delicious as well.  Everything is made from scratch per the server.

There are lots of TV's for sports fans.

It's also open until 2 am.  Since Friday's closed down, it seems as if this is the spot to go to in the area.  Watch out for them popo's after dark..

edit:  I had some payment issues with being charged twice on my card one night.  I left my info for the manager to call me back.  Crystal, the manager or one of the managers, called me back VERY promptly and issued the credit back to my card immediately.  I was very happy that this didn't turn out to be a huge ordeal.  This place is legit, people.

Great atmosphere!  Love coming here not just for drinks but the delicious food as well.
They have the best steak sandwich in town, and i definitely recommend their churros for dessert. They also have the BEST breakfast in r.s.m.! The strawberry pancakes are delicious!

DECOR: Very Small bar, but nice! Apparently this place is close to where I live, but I never tried it. I read the reviews on Yelp and thought I would try it.

SERVICE: The bartender was very nice. He was realyl cool about Happy Hour. I went in a little after, but he still honored the prices. He did a good job of suggesting drinks based on what I like.

FOOD: The food was delicious!! My friend and I ordered some Tapas and really liked them! We Got: Fried Zucchini, Potato wrapped in Prosciutto, and Spicy Fried Fish. All were really good. My fav would have to be the Fish. We also got Ice Cream with Berries and Churros for dessert. Im not much of a Churro person, but the Ice Cream was great!

Great place to go to hang out and have some drinks and tapas!

I went in here for the first time food was great and Kelly was a really attentive server. Very polite and always came back to make sure I was happy with my meal and drinks. Super sweet. Will come back and spreading the word. Amazing place for food and drinks! Very clean.

I have to say, I didnt know what to expect here. Its a pretty cute place, the menu constantly changing, and I enjoyed what we ate. Its kind of small inside, and also dark inside. You have to walk through the kitchen to get to the restroom. We sat at the bar, and had drinks, the food was above average, specially for what I was expecting. I felt bad because an older gentleman sat down at the bar next to me. Apparently there is an assisted living center close to this place, and locals can walk over. However he had dementia and was constantly introducing himself to me, and repeating a lot of his conversations. He was very nice and I did my best to make him feel comfortable, but it made it hard to enjoy.

Went into Tapas and Beer for a Taco Tuesday, the tacos are awesome. They have 3 choices of meet, pork, steak or chicken. Get the chicken (little spicy) and get the Steak(kobe beef, bomb!!!!!). The tacos are great, Sculpin beer is always a plus. The fried zuchini is thick cut and has a great dipping sauce, like a tartar. The crab cakes are tasty as well. #goodmeals and #gooddrinks.

Great food and drinks. Probably not the place to go if you're super hungry or you'll spend upwards of $60 or more for two people. Just sayin

the afterhours group here is a freak show.  even during the week near closing time there's a group that is just wasted.  the bartenders don't seem to understand they aren't supposed to serve drunk people.  If you want to avoid dying, don't be anywhere near here when the drunks come streaming out.

Great neighborhood bar with super-nice locals.  The place is a bit small, so most folks are standng by the bar.  Good appetizers, great beer, but it's the friendly crowd that stands out.  Would definitely go back when I'm in the area.

One of the things I love about tapas-style dining is that you can go and have a little bit of food or a full meal, depending on how hungry you and your companions are. The plus side to Tapas and Beer is that you can also have a really good drink while you're at it. The beer selection is always changing which I enjoy, and their other drinks are great too -- try the sangria or, if you're like me and like it spicy, the Jalapeno Martini.

The establishment itself is small enough to be called cozy, and the ambiance is really nice. I'm a big fan of the lighting as well as the ample counter space that the (beautiful, rustic) bar provides; enough room for drinks and food, absolutely.

The food itself is pretty amazing, innovative at times and definitely prepared with a lot of love. I've had a couple of different things here: tacos, sliders, sandwiches et cetera, all good. But being me, it would be the salad I had while there last night that I'd like to rave about. Seriously, you can tell a lot about a restaurant by their salads, as they're generally a bitch to make and a task no one in a kitchen environment seems to like...I had the mixed greens with goat cheese. First off, it was a generous sized salad without being too much (unlike places that give you a gargantuan bowl of mostly lettuce). I know the vinaigrette had orange in it but I can't recall if that was the only component; regardless, the flavor was amazing and there was plenty of fresh spinach and arugula. The goat cheese came in the form of two beautiful fried orbs of PERFECTION. Okay, so I'm a sucker for friend cheese, but it really added to the overall flavor and was such a nice touch.

Honestly, this is my favorite place to go in RSM. I really like how varied the crowd can be, from young to old. I've never gone and had it be too loud or had anyone here act like a drunk fool. Can't get much better than that.

I have a feeling that the bartender/server who is always here is probably also an owner, but if so that just makes him all the more invested...I've gotten impeccable service, every single time (even when I mistakenly asked for ranch to go with my fries...whoops, I know it's Spanish/Mexican inspired cuisine....maybe a home-made chipotle-ranch for us fat kids?). He will tell you that all of the food on the menu is great, because it is. Just gotta find the right plates for your palette.

Basically, this place is a local hangout for downing a few after work.  They're selection of draft beers was extremely limited (although they did have Cismontaine).  I didn't see too many people eating and now I know why.  We had a couple of the tapas and they were nothing special.  $15 bucks for two extremely small plates is a bit much.  As far as ambiance goes, if you like listening to crappy ass music blaring away, then this is your place.  I thought that I cut a break when they turned-off the music.  But, then they put on the football game with the sound level at full blast.  Oh goodie, now I get to listen to some crappy ass announcer doing play-by-play.  When I want to relax after work I don't need to be assaulted by 100+ decibels of garbage.  How does this place get 4 star reviews?  I may have to start giving-up on Yelp.

We randomly drove by and decided to go in. I was actually really pleased with the place. It took us forever to look over the menu because everything looked so good.

This place is very vegan/ vegetarian friendly... The thin-ish cute waiter with the blond hair and blue eyes knows what's up and what is in the food LOVE HIM.

My fave place to get drinks in RSM for the following reasons: Cheap beers, hole in the wall, homey vibe, sports plastered all over the tv's (For dem boys), AND TONS OF FOOD I CAN EAT :)

Food: So far I tried the Vegetarian Paella (Bland), Fried Zucchini (Legit), and Roasted Red Bell Peppers (Yum but has honey in it for you level 5 vegans ;) I had a bite of my friends)... Plenty of other food choices!

I found this place on yelp and was so impressed by the reviews I decided to give it a try and they were Soooo right!  I was able to eat super healthy and gourmet! I had the dinner  salad that has an amazing dressing in it, sour Orange, and there chicken skewers that had such yummy salsa! I recomend this place to anyone and everyone! Plus they have super nice servers here...that's always a plus!!

Food was great, beer selection is also great. Staff were friendly and attentive but seemed a little under staffed for the amount of people there on a Friday afternoon. The inside of the place appears unfinished and a little run down. But over all it's great tapas and beer.

Great food and great atmosphere. Not really what you would expect from the outside or the center that it is in. Everyone that works here is very friendly and it is truly like the neighborhood bar, there are several regulars, which is always the sign of a good place. Plus it's open late, which is hard to find in this area.

This is a hidden gem! If you are looking for a place to grab a bite to eat, or hang with friends and grab a drink, this place is a must. Cozy sized place, nice outside patio, lots of TVs. They have home made sangria that is tasty as well as lots of beers and specialty drinks.

So far I have tried the scallops, chorizo and potato, and the sliders. And I would recommend every singe one. This place is a must for those looking for a nice place to go without the BJ's scene, or running into your parent's friends at Canyons or Hannas.

Plus it is open late which is rare in this small city.

Despite many great offerings on Yelp check-in, I never ventured in here. Maybe it was because the last place, or the one it was before that, left a bad taste in my mouth. Literally; it was terrible.

My chick and I decided to drop in on a Sunday afternoon to see how it fared. The windows are blacked out in front, so it kinda feels like you're going somewhere naughty as you get closer to the entry. It's great inside, though, since that keeps the place very cool. The interior is stark, minimal, with lots of rich wood and a hint of industrial design. A lone pool table sits near the rear.

We inquired as to what they had on tap, and we both decided to go with a hefeweizen. Our server/bartender brought them out sans lemon wedge. A slice of fruit is usually customary for this type of beer, but he told us that he found the lemon actually detracted from the flavor, so he leaves it out. I didn't care to find out if he was right or not, because the beer tasted perfect without it. Great call on his part.

Since they have a lot to choose from, we went with an assortment of tapas to give the place a fair shake. Our order included the scallop bites, sliders and... dammit, I can't remember. It'll come to me later, long after I've finished this review, but I do recall it was good. Nothing we had was bad. The scallops were very simple and very tasty. They put a small scallop on a little crostini with guacamole - it's refreshing and light. The sliders were great, too, but the star of our small meal was easily the scallops.

This is a great spot that might just be getting overlooked here in town, and more people need to get out and give them some business, because this is exactly the type of simple, casual dining experience that is lacking around these parts.

I don't profess to be a food expert. I liked their food. Decent selection of craft beers including locally brewed Cistomtane. Some other nice stuff like Green Flash and Allagash. If it's true that this place replaced a TGIFridays then I'm especially happy to give 4-stars.

We decided to try this place after being extremely disappointed by BJs, which recently opened up in RSM in place of TGIFridays. THIS PLACE ROCKS!

It's a tiny place, but I like that small, hole-in-the-wall, divey feel... Reminds me of my college days hitting up the local bar where everyone knows everyone.

We started with an IPA, which was so delicious AND locally brewed.  Ordered the scallop bites & battered fish for the tapas. Both were so yummy!!! The scallops came with guacamole which is homemade (and you can definitely tell that it was!). We asked for extra hot sauce, which was also homemade, and it was perfect! Made from habaneros and perfectly spicy! We also shared the veggie flatbread which was cheesy, veggie goodness.

But the best part was dessert...the churros... I have never had anything so delicious. I can't get over this place, we'll definitely be back.

Make no mistake about it - this is a tapas bar.  It is not a restaurant with a bar; it's a bar that serves food, good food, not the usual pub grub.  Noisy, casual, music, pool table, flat screen TVs all over - perfect for a local bar.  We were a group of 6, they took reservations so we had a nice big table in the center.  We ordered the entire page of "starters" and everything was really good.  Stand outs were the spicy fish, sea scallops on crostinis with guac, steak, shrimp and chicken kabobs, potato-chorizo thingys, calamari and the citrus sour martinis.  Prices are really reasonable too.

What do you do when you're only half-hungry for food & hungry-hungry for beer ? .. In the suburbs ?

    THIS PLACE.

This is in a random little strip mall & is TINY. There's a little bar, 3 or 4 booths, a couple tables in the middle & a pool table in the back. The moment we walked in we got a warm welcome from the bartender. He came over to see how we were doing right away & I was super excited to find they had Green Flash Imperial IPA (from San Diego) on tap !

Apparently people were upset that they don't have Bud Light. Are you serious ? They have great beers from local microbreweries that are definitely worth a try that the servers/bartenders could recommend.

Foodwise, everything is decently priced & even better during happy hour. Ordered the vegetarian and chorizo flatbreads -- they both came with artichokes, mmm. I thought they were both tasty but a bit bland & nothing to write home about. They have churros that come with chocolate or caramel sauce (random, but toasty & delicious) which were on the house thanks to a Foursquare check-in!

3 stars for the food but 5 stars for the drinks & the amazingly friendly service. Will definitely be stopping by here next time I'm in the area.

    Visited for the second time.

The selection of the tapas is great for such a small place.  Way better than many high-end restaurants.

We tried the spicy fish bites, potato-wrapped chorizo, cheese plate, Spanish meatballs and the scallops.  All fantastic.

    Good selection of beers also.

Our server/bartender was very attentive and really took care of us.

Prices are very reasonable, especially at happy hour.

The bashers here are the same ones who think BJs is a long-awaited plus for RSM.

Outstanding quaint bar. Heather our drink-slinger is awsome and offended at the bad reviews on Yelp! I agree with her. The food is delicious! The drinks are great and the customers and staff were awesome. and they have a yelp deal. I recommend this bar highly.

It's seriously making me sad how many empty store fronts I see when walking around the plazas in RSM. Even with the bad economy, I don't get why this town is as dead as it is. It's definitely the time to support local businesses...

So, finally, I made the long overdue visit to Tapas and Beer. I loved when this place was Wingstar and with the promising Yelp reviews, I had some pretty high hopes.

I think this is a case of trying out a bunch of their tapas, figuring out which ones you love, and then repeating...

We had... the shrimp and chorizo, the prosciutto wrapped potato and the spicy fish bites accompanied by a very, very strong cranberry & vodka. No complaints on the drink, of course ;)

The spicy fish is greasy and not very spicy. The shrimp and chorizo is a winner. Lots of fresh chopped garlic and huge flavor. The prosciutto wrapped potato is bland but the accompanying pita bread is awesome.

I didn't expect much when the bartender stated that "everything is good". In my books, when someone says that when asked for a recommendation, I don't have a lot of faith... I want specifics, people!

Dead for a Tuesday night. That's okay, it's Tuesday. Your Tuesday is my Saturday (shift work)... It was good to see that the patio was still dog friendly.

I'd probably return to try out some of my fellow yelper's favorite tapas as well as Tapas and Beer's main entrees. If anything, just to support a local business.

Rib eye was amazing! The happy hour during the football game was inexpensive and good portions. The mini clam chowder bowl was really good and just the right size. Oysters was a good deal 3 oysters for $4. I would not mind coming back when I am in town again.

If you're looking for delicious sophisticated tapas in south OC, look no further. Despite their unassuming look from the street, Tapas and Beer  puts out high-quality delicious food at reasonable prices. My favorite is the chorizo flatbread and the spicy fish appetizers. But honestly everything I have had here is tasty. DO NOT miss ordering the churros for dessert! The best I've ever had! I like the Dead Lift IPA on tap to go with some of the spicier foods. I am looking forward to their increased craft beer on-tap selection which they say is coming soon. The interior is nice, but a bit small and dark. There is a pool table and bar seating along with several booths. Some people may find that a bit odd, but I like the casual neighborhood feel. Outside there is a small patio, where unfortunately smoking is permitted. The service is excellent and friendly. Give this place a try and you won't be disappointed.

My first encounter surpassed my expectations. The food was excellent and very affordable. My girlfriend and I enjoy hanging out and watching sports and enjoying a beer often and this is the first choice we make. The service is great. Always have been very welcomed as we have entered. I highly suggest to anyone who is in the area.

If you like high class munchies to go with drinks, this is the place! Someone else said don't go for the food, but that is exactly what I go there for! The choices are amazing and very sophisticated.  My husband's only complaint is that the beers on tap are all pretty regular, not many interesting craft selections like Selmas.  The patio also seems really nice but they need to make sure its not overrun by weird regulars from whatever bar used to be there :/

Finally made it back just over a month after my first visit for Happy Hour.

It's nice to see that word of mouth has garnered some steam for this place as the patronage was up from last time and seemed like people were having a good time.  Place was clean and bartender was friendly.

I was happy to note that when I checked in with Yelp, I got a 50% deal off one food item which makes my update a bit more palatable.

Today I ordered the Chorizo & Artichoke flatbread (listed for $10 on the menu), so I was happy to know I was going to get it for half price, because this is where I really do struggle.  It came served in six bite size pieces on what I assume was a aged redwood plank.

The main ingredients - cheese, chorizo sausage, artichokes seem to be of good quality, and then you gotta put it on what I think is processed pilsbury-like instant crust.  It just reminded me of someone putting caviar on a saltine cracker.

Now, the reason I ordered this was I overheard two different patrons commenting on how good it was....but the crust/bread?  Sorry, in my book not worth $10 in the end.  When I turned the pieces over, the tell-tale perfect pattern of evenly spaced aeration holes raised a yellow flag.  Though the bartender did say it was 'hand-rolled', I really should have asked "Is this bread home-made here?" I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but boy did it just remind me exactly of tubed crust you buy in the grocery store.  So, I'm happy it was $5 and not $10 in the end, otherwise I'd be disapointed.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon after searching "tapas rsm". It appears this is the only tapas place in town, and an off the beaten bath sort of tapas place at that. After reading a review which described it as melding "neighborhood sports bar" and "tapas", I was intrigued.

Upon arriving, the place looked almost deserted save for two guys smoking in the patio in front of the restaurant and a few guys gathered in the booth that looked like the staff. I read that the place had just opened and it was evident by the freshly placed sign on the stucco wall that still bore the markings of the previous establishment.

Walking in, the place was modestly small, with a full bar, wooden stools and a few booths and tables and I think, like, 6 flat screens hanging on the walls. A pool table hovered near the back where the kitchen and bathroom was, so customers need to bypass the kitchen and lockers to get to the loo. Upon entering I was not entirely impressed by the decor and it seemed a little seedy with a crowd that continually seemed to think it was after 5pm. But we sat ourselves down anyway.

We ordered from the menu which was well-sized with mouth watering decscriptions of things like Pan Fried Calamari and Veggie Flatbread. If the food was half as good as the blurbs, this place could win my affection. Our server was a friendly, young woman who started us off with some beers on tap. No Blue Moon, my fave, but they had Shock Top, and my pals ordered Guiness and Fat Tire.

I ordered the Veggie Flatbread, which was akin to little, square pizza slices; topped with artichokes, tomato, zucchini, green onions and olive oil. A little pricier than I'd expected ($10) but filling, delicious and worth every penny! I also sampled the Fried Zucchini from the tapas menu. There are really two sides to the menu; one offers tapas, the other entrees, which I think is wonderfully genius. The zucchini was sliced thinly and had light breading that gave way when you stuck your fork in it. It didn't look like tradtional, heavily breaded zucchini, it wasn't even in stick form, but I think that worked for it. You could actually taste the fresh zucchini and the breading was light, not dripping with frying oil. It was served with a flavorful spicy jalapeno aioli. All of the plates are served on small, charming wooden "chopping" boards and the presentation is beautful.

The owner came out with two complimentary plates of cucumber topped ceviche and greeted himself. A great, great way to build customer loyalty. Being a veggie, I wasn't able to try it, but my friends made sure to eat my portion and they said it was flavorful and done just right.

I will be back again and with my dogs in tow...there are water bowls in the patio for furry friends. Yes, Tapas & Beer has an unfinished "in-progress", bar-like look to it, but don't let that fool you, this place serves up some seriously tasty chow!
