Crush Wine Bar, Restaurant & Retail

They have no doubt the best Oysters Rockefeller I have had in a long time. I worked as an oyster bar cook and made Oysters Rockefeller and these are exactly how they should be made. I followed that up with their Wedge salad which was good. Oh, their bread is wonderful. I had the Osso Buco and found it a bit on the dry side but I was still yearning for the Oysters Rockefeller. The restaurant was a tad loud but at least everyone was enjoying themselves. Can you guess what I would go back there for?

I see no reason to return to Crush. Unless you like overcooked vegetables...the green beans were olive in color and reminded me of the oversalinated, canned "wax beans" served in my elementary school cafeteria. No, thanks. The home fry type potatoes were flavorless and certainly not worth the calories. Caesar salad was pretty good as was the dessert I had, although it was called a fruit tarte and I expected the French variety of said item - that, it was not....tons of custard, not that much fruit....

Was with a fairly large party, many ordering the same thing....but the portion sizes were all over the map. Some big filets, some very small...odd. Add all of this up with unappealing decor, never mind.

I LOVE that we were greeted with a glass of bubbly as soon as we entered -- what a fun start!
We began with an attractive assorted cheese platter (tasty, but rather steep at $15, considering the small servings). The beef entrees were attractively presented, very tasty -- but (again) high-priced, especially for the portions. The shrimp (a specialty) that accompanied my entree seemed a bit tough, but tasty.
The exterior certainly does not depict the rather intimate, cozy, and romantic interior.
Would I return? Maybe ... with another "buy 1, get 1 free" offer. However, even taking advantage of such a deal, an appetizer, 2 specialty entrees, and a (nicer) bottle of wine amounted to a higher-than-expected tab.
