The only thing BWW has going for it is the atmosphere and the TVs. The prices are high and the food is just meh. When I looked at the menu I was in shock.
Wings today are shipped to the restaurants already sectioned so there is no labor for the kitchen staff. Â Basically thaw, throw in the deep fat fryer, sauce and serve on cheap paper plates. Yes, I know there is labor, rent and other business costs but a estimated 640% markup is pretty high.
If the sauces were out of this world delicious and better wings could not be found elsewhere then they would be a niche restaurant and could demand higher prices. But being a chain with less than average tasting food I think not.
The two sauces we tried we sub par in taste. The Spicy Garlic sauce did not have any taste of garlic and the Jamaican Jerk sauce was over powered by a flowery flavor I believe to be allspice. They served a small portion of wedge fries and deep fried mushrooms both of which were flavorless. With 'The Hat' across the street from this location with their large portion of fries this is not an area for BWW be skimpy.
I will give kudos to our waitress who was top notch!
This location is horrible. Â The one in Mission Viejo off Crown Valley Parkway is amazing by the way so this review is ONLY for the Lake Forest location. Â Here's my story.... Â I've been to this place a few times for lunch as it's right across the street from our work and it's been ok, not amazing, not terrible, just ok. Â The service was a little slow and the pricing isn't anything special so we went there for basic wings and convenience sake mostly. Â This past weekend we tried picking up lunch for 10 people at our office ( yeah, a large order). Â We asked to have 2 of the wing orders split with sauces and they said "No, we're not allowed" so we spoke with " Manager Aaron" (who was a total dick by the way) and he said " it's below our standards to split sauce on anything less than 6 so we'd have to order 12" Â I'm sorry but now we're playing the "splitting sauce is a standards issue" game ? Â Give me a break. Â Hey Aaron, just a reminder... whatever your childhood dream was... you ended up a manager at Wild Wings, you're one notch above a Taco Bell manager so get off your high horse. Â Anyway TO GO orders are pure profit for a restaurant because it doesn't use any of their facilities except the kitchen. Â It's pure profit. Â We happily took our 10 orders to Wing Stop and they were MORE THAN HAPPY to offer us different sauces on the same order. Â With all that said one of our crew insisted on getting a Blue Cheese burger at Wild Wings anyway... what he got looked like some comedians dramatic rendition of a " what I got doesn't match the picture" nightmare. Â It literally looked like someone threw it in the box and shook it like a salad for a few minutes. Â Completely uneatable. Â Maybe their "standards" only apply to splitting sauces and nothing else. Â Either way these 10 people aren't going back there anytime soon and neither should you.
