This location you only go for one thing THE STEAK BURRITOS period.  I have yet to taste a better overall Burrito around this area stay away from the tiny tacos, chiliaquilies and all that mumbo jumbo and you'll be fine.  I always stick to a Burrito and Horchata and I'm in heaven.

I've only been to the comales in this area once, and let me tell you I don't care to ever go back. It just wasn't that great. To start off me and my friends ordered a guacamole, and I can make a better one at home. It was tasteless and unappetizing, and even with adding salt it's still a fail. I ordered al pastor and the tacos were really salty and may I add, drowning in oil. So gross.
Another thing, I stood up to go to the washroom and the waitress was already removing our plates asking if we were leaving, and she kept asking the whole night if we were almost done, so rude.
Just forget about this place and try a better taqueria!

Waste of money! Better off eating a bologna sandwich in the house. The food was bland. Don't think they use any seasonings. Only stopped in because zaco  tacos  was closed. Not a place I want to eat again' or should I say throw away my money because the food wasn't really eat'n.

no mas for me. this place was good. now it is ok. With two of the best taco places next to them I am surprised the still have get business. The reason why i went was for breakfast since the other two were closed. I order huevos con chorizo and my wife chilaquiles rojos. My chorizo was a bit crispy which I had no issue, yet the rice and beans very bland. My wife's chilaquiles were very hot!. I don't think I will try this location again.

Plenty of private parking. Service quick, but food bland.

This is by far the best Comales I've been to! Honestly. I don't necessarily like Los Comales simply because they went down in value the past couple of years. I loved them maybe 6 years ago when their tacos were normal-sized. But I guess since everyone's down-sizing with this economy, Los Comales owners probably thought "hey let's down-size our food & menu as well!"

Anyways, so the restaurant we were originally supposed to go to was closed due to "holiday vacation" which really pissed me off because that was quite a drive. We had to come in here--last resort. No biggie, my dad said it was better than the other ones.

So we come in, find an empty booth and start looking over the menu. I immediately noticed a difference, beginning with the fact that their menu selection is wider. My parents got the chilaquiles rojos and I ordered the gordita with beans, cheese and carne asada (steak). I also ordered a side of avocado to put on my gordita. (Oh, PS. Since avocados are out of season, I suggest don't order anything with avocado during this time...they're not good at all.)! My gordita was delish--aside from the bland tasting avocados. I tried my mom's chilaquiles and they were good too...she said they were "really spicy" but they're not spicy. If you have a high tolerance of spiciness, you won't find them spicy but rather tasty. Good, friendly service here.

This place.... well all of them have really gone down hill. I have tried em all. I lived in Denver for seven years and always thought  about this place. How good it was when I was little.

I started going to the original one on 26th street when I moved back. Bad. Tried the ones surrounding til I ended up at this one. Real good at first. But the quality of the meat gradually went down hill. Last time I tried them I was so disgusted. All fat, no flavor, meat tasted and looked like it had been sitting all day. After a cpl bites I put the food down and paid. When asked why I didn't eat I told them that the food was horrible and that it had been the case for months.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt too many times. Til the last time. I was so disappointed. All I want is a quality al pastor taco. Sigh

service sucks....I don't like a place where the waitresses talk about sex where everyone can hear... the food is okay.... waitress & the cashiers need to leave there sex hobbies at the door before they go to work... i refuse to ever go there again, being there with my kids and hearing the servers and cashier talking aloud about there personnel life and what they did the night before really made me see that i will never return to a more disgusting place with workers like that. I can imagine them handling our food, after knowing what they did the night before.... i dont care how good your food is..... service counts as well... never again...

This would be the fourth location of Los Comales I have ate at, but it's not as good as what I have experienced at their other locations. Don't get me wrong, I don't think their Tacos are bad at all, they are just not up to par. As with any of their locations people, don't be scared to order up 5 to 6 tacos, they are tiny but flavor full.

Picture this, you pull up to a parking lot, half full. Inside the restaurant they are 3/4 full, order 5 tacos (my order) and 3 tacos for her. Almost instantly as soon as you tell your waitress (es todo (Spanish) = that's all) she turns around and there's your food. Your booth or table is equipped with green and red hot sauce, paper towels, and vinegar cured Jalapenos, garlic heads, and carrots. It's always a treat. You must try their Horchata... Delicious! Now down to the nitty gritty:

Tacos: Greasy, decent flavor (my taste buds were also still adjusting from drinking the night before). Once again they are small, but they are also $1.25 so there's no rip off here.

    Drinks: Horchata is yummy.

I will most definitely return after a long night of drinking, or when I'm in a rush. Decent food, but certainly not the king of tacos by any means.

PS... They finally accept credit cards...

As we were parking outside I could smell some sort of wonderful going on in there. We sat at a booth and our waitress came faster than you can say "vamanos".

The table had a tub of cauliflower, jalapenos, and sliced carrots in a self-serve fashion. The self serve gardinera type thing was mildy spicy and tart. My favorite was the cauliflower and sliced carrots. All the orders are made fresh and made to your liking.

    Our orders
Him: 3 Carne Asada Tacos, 2 beef tripe tacos, rice, beans, and a horchata.

I think to myself, "damn that's a big order he must be hungry".

Me: 2 carne asada, and 1 al pastor tacos. No cilantro.

One thing is for sure. The service is freakin' fast. I LOVE IT!

Yes, the tacos are a tad greasy, I like them that way. The beef tripe was good and crunchy and tasted like chicarons. Al pastor tacos was mildly spicy and amazing, the carne asada tacos tasted like heaven. The only problem with this place was that the tacos were small tacos. When i think of tacos, i think of tortillas the size of my hand. These tortillas were half the size, no bueno. But damn, those tiny little suckers were amazing. I love it. The beans are medium consistency and homemade, you can tell because they leave some whole beans in there possibly for aesthetic purposes.

Good service, faster than Speedy Gonzales himself, good greasy tacos. Good for hangovers. I went during the day because the neighbrhood is super shady.

Los Comales has small, flavorless, greasy tacos that are fried over a skillet.  You can literally see the grease drip as you hold your taco. They have what I call "hangover" tacos.  "Hangover" tacos are what you need in your system so the grease can keep you from yacking.

What a ripoff! Their tacos are practically bite-size. The meat is either overcooked or undercooked, never good. The service is very fast, makes me wonder whether the meat has been sitting there all day.

I've heard a lot of discomforting stories of this place. My mother lives around the corner from this place and more than a handful of times she has seen the ambulance outside. I wonder why?

This place is not that bad.  I truly enjoy their tiny tacos and especially their grilled onions.  They might be a bit greasy but still good.  I also like their breakfasts too.  I'm a big fan of chorizo with eggs.  One thing that does annoy me a bit is their tortas.  Their good but super SLOPPY!!! The torta totally falls apart.  But it's still good so I stop whining and keep eating.  Their horchatas are pretty good too.... not to watery.

My friends and I decided to check this place out after shuffling a few pieces of furniture across town. One of my friends suggested it, he said he used to eat here all the time when he was back in school. The rest of us took his word and off we went.

Yes, this place is decidedly Southside, although after walking in, it could have been south of the border for all practical purposes. Mexican music on the juke box, a predominantly Hispanic clientele, and not a word of English spoken. The tables looked dingy, better than Chinatown, but not as good as some Northside Mexican restaurants, and had trays full of hot peppers that you could feel their burn just by sitting down. There was a fair amount of business in the take out area and you could feel the heat from the kitchen nearer the front. But the smell of the cooking food, oh, it was flavorful.

We ordered tortas, tacos, and burritos. I had a beef steak torta and because there was the wonderful smell of chorizo in the air, one chorizo (chorizo=Mexican sausage, often spicy) taco. At first I thought I would want more than one, but after my torta came, I was glad I only ordered one.And here's my reason for only ordering one. I've been to several Mexican places where the the chorizo smells very good and flavorful, but tastes bland and stale when eaten. So when my one taco arrived I looked at it with a healthy amount of skepticism. It smelled good, the cooked chorizo steaming out of the corn tortilla that surrounded it. The tace was on the smaller side, some people may think it's a rip-off, but at least it was stuffed to the brim. Well it turns out I was pleasantly surprised- the chorizo not only smelled good, it tasted good as well. And it was spicy and slightly greasy, just the way I like it. Based on the qualification alone, I knew we had come to the right place, and was thinking about ordering more tacos.

Then came my torta. Whatever appetite I had would definitely be satisfied by it. That sucker was huge. The steak flavor was good, though I've tasted better, and everything else  tasted, the way it should. And in the back of my mind I was thinking that I should have ordered one with chorizo on it. The thought of even trying the other tacos and burritos we ordered was out the window as well. For a moment I was in cloud nine.

Anyhow, should you go, try your Spanish out. One of my friends was trying his out to the waitress and she was loving it. The other two of us were amused. Yes, this is out of the way just to get Mexican food, but by the amount of people eating, or waiting for their take-outs, the place is doing something right.

Pros: Food tastes as good as it smells, reasonable prices, big parking lot.
Cons: Bring your Spanish, even broken Spanish will give you some respect here, dingy ambience may be too much for some.

To sum it up: The world definitely revolves around a tortilla.

Do you like a little bit of meat with your animal fat taco? Do you like to pay more than you should for less than you crave? Do you like to be part of the "Southside scene" that goes to North Side clubs within walking distance of good Mexican food, yet still trek it down to this abomination? Then head on over to this place NOW!

greasy, small portions, salty waitresses, and the meat that makes you go hummmmm.....wtf is this, a freaking piece of HIDE in my taco?!? if you're not a fan of the frankentaco, stay far, FAR away from this place.  that goes for the Archer ave location too.  try zacataco's, or tio luis.  and anyone who suggests Atotonilco as a substitute deserves a swift kick in the groin. or teeth. or both.

Los Comales is greasy and cheap, which is exactly how I like my Mexican food! Their burritos are huge, so if you go here after clubbing/bar hopping for a late night snack and you get a burrito, you can definately have the left overs for breakfast or whenever you get up. Their tostadas are also very delicious. I highly recommend Los Comales.
