The Tavern

Just another Metairie bar on Airline Hwy.  No draft beer, just bottles, but there was a decent selection in the cooler.  I was introduce to Woodchuck Hard Cider.  A little sweet for my taste.  TVs scattered around.  I enjoyed watching the best NASCAR crashes of the last year.  (It had to be the cider.)  The crowd was into it.  Maggie, the bartender was friendly.  Amazing, they had a Yelp check-in offer, buy one, get one free.  Of course, I took advantage of it.  For entertainment, they have a pool table and dart boards.  Plenty of video poker machines.  Apparently I just missed Kyle Turley playing here.  Gives you an idea of the music in the background, rocking country of the Hank Jr vein.

Got conned into coming here Monday night after falling for some hyped up advertising. Saw a commercial on tv a lot lately for the Tavern that made this bar seem like a fun and enjoyable bar but it definitely wasn't either to me. The bartenders here were sassy and just plain rude. I asked some questions while I was sitting at the bar and got very rude answers each time. I was asking about how it went when Kyle Turley (ex-Saint) performed there this past Saturday and both of the bartenders gave me short and rude answers.

Drinks are also poured inconsistently here. I always try to watch how bartenders pour their drinks (whether it's a freepour, a posi pour, or jigger) to see how strong or weak my drink will be. Their bottles were equipped with free pourers and they were pouring drinks differently for the same drink.

Ambiance here wasn't a high point either. It is very dark in there. All in all I wish I went someone else to watch MNF. Think I will go to Walk-On's instead next Monday.
