The Temple Family Restaurant is one of those Berks County establishments that has been around for a while. In restaurant lingo I suppose the word "family" means diner. And that's pretty much what you get. Diner food, but good solid diner food. It's nice a place to go for breakfast or maybe for lunch or dinner if you you're not in the mood for something fancy.
Review Source:This is the kind of diner where the waiters/waitresses know the locals' names. The patrons were mostly from the older crowd. The cheddar cheese omelet I ordered came out soft, not greasy at all, and just the right amount of cheddar cheese so it wasn't overflowing in cheese. The shredded potato side wasn't dry at all and the toast came buttered automatically (so if you don't want butter, speak up). The place was very clean, including the bathroom, and the prices were very reasonable (I may find most of these "southern" food joints cheap because I'm a New Yorker, where everything is more expensive. Overall, if you're coming through town and are hungry, this is a great option for breakfast food.
Review Source:I was a huge fan of this place until recently. I had only ever eaten the breakfast with my family and it was wonderful. The waitresses are so nice and remember you. This last time I went for dinner for my boyfriend and sister. My sister ordered the usual yummy breakfast for dinner, I ordered the calamari, and my bf ordered the wings. My sister enjoyed the breakfast while I couldnt even describe how odd and disgusting my calamari was. I didnt even resemble calamari. It shocked me because before the renovations the calamari was a huge portion and was delicious. It was caked in brown bread crumbs and tasted like it was previously frozen. The wings were awful too. They tasted old. The waitress disappeared into the kitchen during our whole meal. We ended up paying $45+ for an awful meal. Hopefully they can get it together. It used to be good.
Review Source:Temple got their liquor license they now serve wine n beer. Wine is $3.95 a glass and $19.00 a bottle. Beer bottles only are $2.75 for domestics and $3.75 for imports. They have Sam Adams, Stella, etc. Wine they have merlot, zinfadel, chardonnay, etc. They also sell 6 packs of the beers, though I don;t know the price of this.
