This was my first visit to Temecula and although it was a short one, my boyfriend and I were able to go to a couple of wine tasting rooms and made sure that Tesoro was the main one to go to.  It was a great and personable time and the wines were delicious.  We tried all 3 of the whites on the tasting menu and 3 out of the 6 reds available, for a total of 6 to taste and it was only $12/person.  The manager, Wendy, was great.  We are definitely going there for another visit when we have a proper wine tasting weekend in Temecula.

Awesome tasting courtesy of Ray.  I was in town for a few days with a group of friends celebrating a wedding, and we stopped in after I read some good Yelp reviews.  We had gone to a vineyard in Temecula earlier in the day, and were disappointed as it felt like a restaurant (as in, no one explained anything to us about the winery, the grapes, the blends, etc.).  Tesoro was great, and Ray provided some excellent recommendations of other wineries to visit while we were in the area.  Also LOVE the free popcorn!

Very unorganized. The Taste of Temecula event was going on and yet you would expect that they Tesoro would be stocked and ready to go. Not the case. Half there wine list was out and then proceeded to order there well known Meat n Cheese platter, and also were out. Unfortunately we will not be returning...

I really liked this place a lot.  After hitting so many wineries, it was nice to be in a fancier tasting room to drink and relax some.  Their wines are really great.  I fell in love with one of the wines they were tasting, but they didn't have it labeled yet so I couldn't take it home with me. Boo.  I did find another that would work just fine.

Ok, here is one thing that I don't get.  This is the only place we found down in Temecula that is smart enough to apply your tasting fee to a bottle purchase!  Does this not seem like a good idea to the rest of the places in the area?  I mean I tasted at 4 places that I didn't even purchase a bottle at because once you pay $10-15 to taste and then consider another $30 on top of it to buy a bottle then your visit gets expensive.  But , if you figure you have already put a "down payment" on a bottle and thus, half of said bottle is already paid for, you are totally game to spend the extra money.  You have $30 in your register instead of $10.  Tastes can't cost you that much and every other place I taste at figures it as the cost of marketing.

OH WELL, this place gets it and I would go back here before most of the other places just for that reason....and to get a bottle of the stuff that wasn't labeled at the time. lol.

I stopped in here the other night as a friend's former boss was performing that night.

First, I'm never keen on being surrounded by too many people.  Clearly this is a popular spot as I was enveloped for most of the evening.

My group ordered a few bottles of the Zinfandel and the 2008 Syrah (which I preferred over the former) along with a handful of glasses of port.  The wines aren't bad at all.  I'm not a snob nor a sommelier, but I do know when I don't like a wine and can articulate as such.  Not a bad experience with any of our selections for the evening.

It was a little strange to have ordered food (onion rings and fries) from the neighboring grill and pair them with the "classier" of drinks in wine, but at least we weren't hungry.

The pourers were super polite and dealt with our escalating obnoxiousness (not my fault, promise) well (shoutout to Ray for getting some water to our increasingly intoxicated ladies).

Over all, not a bad place.  Definitely worth a stop in next time I'm in Old Town.

We went as guests of friends that are members. This place is different than the typical bigger wineries. It is small, friendly and intimate. You walk in and are immediately feel like you know the place. So I tried a few wines. They have some pretty good wines, but my gosh what goe me was the hibiscus sparkling wine. DELICIOUS! Seriously. So, I think we liked the place, by the time we left we had signed up as members- our first wine club!

I have been here sevearl times when wandering through Old Town. Cute little tasting room with a long bar set upon old wine barrels. Cozy hardwood floors with Tuscan style walls and faux awnings. Plenty of bar and table seating and many gift items for sale. But the best is it is pet friendly.  You can bring your furry pals right on inside and out of hot sun.

The last time I was in, I discovered their wonderful hibiscus sparkling wine. I had already finished my tasting when I realized there was a Yelp check in offer for a free tasting.  I figured I would try a sparkling though I thought it would be too sweet. Well, the hibiscus was wonderful! Not sweet at all with a unique hibiscus twist. I ended up buying a bottle. I almost didn't even try this!

I took my bottle to a Bday celebration and everyone, from the wine lovers to the non wine drinkers, loved it.

They have a simple little cheese platter you can order if you need to nibble while you sip. I hadn't eaten all day and this did the trick to tide me over until dinner. The tomato tapanade garnish was really nice. But neither of us cared for the buttery type of cracker. Didn't go so well with the savory items. The sturdier pita type of cracker was better. I would request all of that type of cracker next time.

They will order from the Soro's Mediterranean restaurant across the street for you if you want a full meal or some hummus.  They will deliver it to you at Tesoro. Pretty handy!

The service has always been very warm and friendly while we were here and there is entertainment on some days or nights. I recall once being there for a magic show and it was SO entertaining, we stayed again for the next show.

Tesoro is great!  If you are in downtown you must check it out.  The employees are friendly and knowledgeable.  The wines are good but I really love their sparklings, they are amazing!

Loved the choice of sparking wines!! May come back in July. :) Loved the cozy setting and love the generous portions. Will be back!! There's a sparkling vanilla flavored wine that hasnt been bottled yet. I have high hopes that it will be available when we return in July. The location of the tasting room is in old town Temecula, so when we got there we parked in a parking lot that said "No Parking for Farmers market" , and so my boyfriend and I were a little worried about whether our car would still be there when we got back. So needless to say, I wasn't as relaxed at this winery. Next time we'll probably look for a better parking spot.

Went there on a Saturday night to watch the ladies sing. My friend wasnt drinking because she drove. She was eating pretzel at the bar while we were drinking and chatting. When we turned around after a round of applause we saw their General Manager remove the bowl with pretzel. I guess she didn't deserve it because she wasnt drinking. I felt disrespected.

Odd.  Been here several times but have had some really undrinkable wines.  There is a lot of decor, jewely, statues of religious nature which was in contrast to the somewhat testy attitude of the owner.  The music was nice but there are so many other friendlier places in Temecula, I don't think I'll go back.

We had lovely sparkling wines and heard fun music at Tesoro! The service was extremely friendly and the atmosphere very comfortable..like being at a private party.

Tesoro is hands down my favorite tasting room in old town Temecula. Now, they have a Yelp check-in offer for a free 2 oz pour which was really cool. My husband and I have been going to Temecula for the last three years and always pay a visit to Tesoro. This last trip was no exception. Every single time, the service has been friendly, down-to-earth, and relaxed. The wines are great, too, and wine glasses are awesome. Out of all the glasses we have accumulated in wine country, Tesoro's are his favorite.

For wines, I really loved the Riesling, and our friends loved their sparking wines. I am not into sparkling wines too much but I truthfully enjoyed everything I tried there. The other thing I love are the jewelty, trinkets you can shop for. My husband picked up a couple of really cute bracelets for me. They also had plenty of other gift items...

Although I enjoyed the wines, I am not proficient enough to say that their wines are better than other places. What really resonates with me and causes me to give a 5 star rating is the service. I haven't had one bad experience there which keeps my husband and I going back.

Good experience after a boring and unspectacular visit to Monte de Oro.

This is the best tasting experience in Temecula, especially outside the wine country...overall the best value for the best tasting wines.

    Notes...

Elio doro 2007: extremely acidic, but likable, tart notes a lot like an unripened cherry.

Sangiovese 2006: typically spicy mouth feel, with a sincerely mellow profile throughout, very even drinking, pronounced vanilla, but not quite the perfuming I had expected.

2009 Il terrazza rosso, kimberly vineyards chilled: incredible wine, just sweet enough, fresh clean bright and sweet for a red. Incredible nose. Sooo good, especially for someone who doesn't drink sweet wines, a welcome addition to my cellar.

Trinita 2006: meaty, bold, but bright.

Chardonnay 2008: popcorn notes in the nose.  A bit sharp on the finish, very drinkable but not my favorite in the mix today.

Riesling 2007: sweet but not particularly memorable...if the price is right, you could fool me into buying a lot of this for fringe wine drinkers at dinner parties.

Nice sincere staff, who take the time to get to know you.

Sounds a lot like they are working on a winery tasting room on the property in the Wine Country.

Temecula actually has a whole handful of dog-friendly facilities (wineries, restaurants, etc.), which it turns out makes it a decent dog-friendly vacation, including Tesoro Winery Tasting Room downtown. This one is especially nice because dogs are allowed inside the comfy, air conditioned tasting room - very extra nice on hot desert days. Nice staff and very tasty wines. You get lots of choices for your tasting, including (right now) some seriously delicious and unique Hawaiian sparkling wines. Lovely. Thumbs up.

We stopped by Tesoro because we had a $2 coupon and because I had never gone to one of the Temecula tasting rooms. I'm glad we did. I thought even the worst wine they had was pretty good. The tasting room was a nice, clean area with plenty of room for tasting. There were all kinds of nicknacks available to purchase if that's your type of thing. The lady that was pouring the wines was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was nice chatting with her and learning about the wines from her.

The highlights to me were the Chardonnay (which I don't typically enjoy), Sangiovese and the Super Tuscan. All three were pretty delicious. One drawback was that most of these wines came from the Solvang/Santa Barbara area. If you expected to come and taste some wines coming out of Temecula, this isn't your best option. If you don't care about where the wines came from and you just want some deliciousness, be sure to stop by. Everything was quite nice.

Seeing as this was the first place I ever went for a wine tasting, I have nothing else to really compare it to. However, the wines David chose for us were really good. He suggested even a couple wines that were not on the menu and they definitely added to the entire experience. When I only had one taste left but told him I like port as well, he poured that for me as well as the other wine I had chosen without me asking. Which, by the way, was an amazing port. When you're in Temecula, go check out Tesoro for a wine tasting. You won't regret it.

Class and comfort. This was the second winery I ever visited before officially moving to Cali. from NY and was pleased from day one; I have been back every other week since. The owners and workers are polite, good conversationalists, and will have you feeling comftorable. The wine is great and you can now order yummy food from several local resturaunts in Old Town and have it delivered while enjoying your wine in the tasting room. The weekends there is live music and other events throughout the week ( Girls night, cheese tasting w/wine, etc.) You can dress up or dress down and after go for a walk through lovely old town. I deffinately recommend this place- AWESOME!

The tasting room is adorable, a lovely mix of kitsch and class. The best wines, however, are actually from a winery in Santa Barbara not Tesoro. I did enjoy the majority of the samplings, but left with a desire to head north next trip instead of back to Temecula.

I did love that because Tesoro means treasure they had gold coins (pulled from a treasure chest) to keep track of your tastings.

The design for their vineyard location looks beautiful, unfortunately, they don't have an estimated time that it will open.

I doubt I'll frequent Tesoro, only because I don't plan on spending as much time in Old Town as on the wine trails, but it's nice and would be a stop whenever I opt for the OT way.
